So as everyone on Planet Earth knows by now, the House Judiciary Committee
voted Friday to put to a vote Donald Trump’s articles of impeachment to the full House of Representatives, marking the fourth time
a president has faced such a move-three of which have taken place inside of the last fifty years.
Representative Jerry Nadler (D-NY
) Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee ended up filing two succinct and irrefutable articles of impeachment on Friday. The first article of impeachment charges Trump with abuse of power
, for withholding key military aid from beset Ukraine, and the second is for obstruction of Congress
while they have been investigating this whole rotten sordid affair, disgraceful to America and to every last living soul in it.
Coming into the weekend, we might as well have been new aikido students, so beat up were we from the week’s dramatic finisher on Thursday and Friday, two days of grueling debate that resulted in an unexpected delay of the final, fateful vote of the impeachment, now to be held on Tuesday
at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
The debates rounded off nearly six months of pure and unadulterated chaos. A calliope atmosphere has carried the country like a psychedelic cyclone turned fearful. 435 Representatives, one after the other, allowed their say in the equivalent of verbal tweets. It felt like busting loose, all at once, like leather pants on today’s Boy George. A single reefer joint and an M.C. Hammer concert might have spontaneously combusted; electrical tension was coming right through every tuned-in screen.
And for what? The whole thing is so tiresome and ridiculous anyway, there has never been a more blatant and corrupt incompetent than him, and the act he’s doing more in life than running one of his dad’s old grocery stores
, it’s the ultimate degradation to us all. It’s sad the Republicans have chosen this worn-out sloppy jalopy of a man over truth and American values.
If only we could impeach all these crooked Republicans, too. What a miserable fate for the Grand Old Party. It’s nothing but a rubber stamp held by the man who is running our democracy into the ground. As Garry Kasparov
said back in 2016, the Republican Party died the day Trump took over. Conservatives of principle must start over.
