Stay the Course, #StandWithOurSpeaker- On Impeachment and Other Issues.

#StandWithOurSpeaker!

The long-awaited Office of the Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III‘s thorough and explosive Report on the Russian interference into our 2016 presidential election, and the obstruction of justice issues that arose during the subsequent investigations has raised like never before the question of whether or not to impeach Donald Trump for what clearly are extremely serious offenses against our democracy.

It should be understood going in that all of us will be going into the dark together, in what may well prove to be the most consequential decision of our lifetimes. In deciding the question of the fate of our current illegitimate, babyish president Trump, the Mussolini of our times, any discussion of the topic must begin and end with that.

There will be trouble in every last street and bar and coffee shop in the nation; brother will turn on brother. There will be a rage on both sides like nothing we have seen since the Civil War, exceeding by far what we saw in the 70s with Richard Nixon and Watergate. There will be more than one event like Charlottesville, where our sister the martyr Heather Heyer was run down by a cursed soul and dragged to her death behind his van. We’re pleased to report he’s now rotting in prison. But that too is one more link in the chain.

Elsewhere down South, where many people like the men below would rather be Russians than Democrats, internationally known televangelist Franklin Graham is literally telling his followers to prepare for civil war if impeachment proceedings against Trump go through. People listen to that guy down there. If they start giving orders to open fire, it is our opinion that they will do so. Without a doubt.

Red, sad, and confused Americans.
Red, sad, and confused Americans.

Anecdotally, we had one sick man named Rene Hollan visit our Facebook Page and say,

“Understand this Democrats. If Trump gives the order I will kill as many of you as I can.”

We gave that to the FBI the following morning.

There were hopes, in the beginning, that the likes of John McCain and Susan Collins and once strident Trump critic Lindsey Graham would eventually realize just how crooked he is when the Mueller Report finally came out and proved he’d benefited willingly from Putin’s help. But neither the voluminous document itself nor the subsequent comments of Robert Mueller that essentially proved Trump a criminal has proved to be the game-changer we had hoped for. This is not the Republican Congress of the 1970s that acted with honor during Watergate.

Insofar as Trump’s sleazy role in it all is concerned, it seems that a lifetime’s worth of doing deals with a wink and a nod allowed him to maintain plausible deniability- barely. On the question of obstruction, the case is far more straightforward, everything from trying to fire the Special Counsel Mueller to trying to get former White House counsel Don McGahn to change his story on a number of particularly ham-handed attempts at co-opting a good civil servant. The web of lies, untruths, and viciousness Donald Trump has spun around himself is like a leper’s shroud, hard to see through.

The common strand of corruption is the only thing obvious and unquestionable.

We all live in the madhouse as a result of trying to come to terms with it all, but at least about one thing, there can be no doubt at all. The man is deeply corrupt, we say again, and he’s been a real disaster for America.

But that is not quite the question we face.

Trump is an unworthy leader in every possible way, yes. He cheated and bullied his way into the White House. But although it was a blatant theft, the unpleasant fact remains. In the end, he did win the election, and his tenure in office is already a fait accompli. Nobody’s talking about the 25th Amendment and removing him due to insanity, more’s the pity. Given that, and from what we know for sure as of this minute, can we really say we’re certain he should be impeached? In lieu of all the chaos and the cost?

All this is to say nothing of the fact that any measure of impeachment we do try would at this time merely be symbolic. It will never, ever, ever pass a Republican-controlled Senate. Impeachment may well be getting considered by our strategists as a nuclear option of sorts, a last-ditch attempt to prevent him from running wild completely between next year and 2024 if the great tragedy strikes a second time. With a Democratic Congress, we could remove him if we had to. But unless we are patient now, that will never happen.

We’ve got to think strategically here, with our heads as well as our guts. Trump wants us to try and impeach him, because he knows it is the one thing we could do to turn him into a pitied figure, one the public might actually view sympathetically. The stakes of this are too high for premature attacks made for the sake of showy idealism.

It may well be that national honor will force our hand in the end, but we ourselves do not have all the facts yet. A vast amount of research and contemplation must go into formulating a workable strategy here, for all of us Americans are now dancing on the razor’s edge together. There’s no need to bother asking me what I’d like to see happen to Trump for all of this as a private citizen; just look around. But in terms of the law, things are somewhat different.

Fortunately, we’ve got the best legal minds in the vast United States of America working on it around the clock as we speak, and under the most competent leader we could ever want: Nancy Pelosi, whose talent for organizing her caucus and keeping track of time is unparalleled, and gave us Obamacare among many other a legislative score.

Having Nancy Pelosi back in the Speaker’s chair was the single most immediately crucial factor in the Blue Wave of 2018.

She got more important bills passed in her first six months in office back in 2008 than the Trump administration has in nearly three years. In short, she’s good. Really good. And that is good for us. Because whoever has to take this on had better be the best. To impeach or not impeach is largely her decision.

In April 1970, while in session, Congressman Gerald Ford raised an old rhetorical question: “What is an impeachable offense?” Ford at this time was the House Minority Leader (Pelosi’s job pre-Blue Wave 2016-2018), and his answer to the question was stark and illustrative.

An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history.

That majority in today’s House of Representatives belongs to the Democratic Party. We definitely do have the right to start these proceedings.

That is why we are being so careful!

Impeachment is an utterly drastic step, a divisive and frankly tragic one, regardless of the outcome. They do not make the country look good, to say the ludicrous least. Lurid Ken Starr the pornographer wiped slime on the courts that will never come off when he painted his lurid fantasy tales about the sexual exploits of Bill Clinton, the second president to be tried for impeachment in the Senate. The Republicans were annihilated in the next Congressional elections- just as we Democrats were after Nixon.

The reason why? Both Clinton and Nixon were very popular among their respective camps, who judged themselves abused, whether or not this was the case. Retributive backlash in the form of division and strife swept the country twice and left rankling wounds in the hearts of members of both parties. It set the stage for a third one to be totally apocalyptic.

In closing, we must keep in mind going forward that impeachment is nothing to speak of lightly. It rips countries apart. It may well prove necessary to give it a try in the end- but not without first considering every option with meticulous care.

While it is not easy to be patient about this-for surely, We the People have never before had such a surreally egregious cause- it is vastly important to understand how high the stakes are and how dangerous the strategy would be. It’s an incredibly tough call given the circumstances, which is why we at Millennial Democrats haven’t weighed in on it hard either way. It is our opinion that Hillary Clinton’s recent suggestions involving televised hearings and utmost caution provide an excellent roadmap for the future.

This observation leads us to the primary thesis of the article. We have got to stand behind our Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, who is one of the smartest and toughest people in America today.

We have always held Pelosi to be strongest by far for this position of high power in Congress. Back last fall, everyone mostly did, and nothing has changed. Even the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who was back then the sworn enemy of every moderate everywhere, ultimately decided not to oppose her on practical grounds. If you want to get anything done at all, you’ve got to have good leadership. We have the best, and most of us have known this all along. She is our Speaker of the House, and make no mistake.

This decision is all but hers alone.

In closing, Nancy Pelosi has been our choice to be our leader from the Trump era’s Day One. She is by far the person in the best position to make the call, and whatever way it goes, it is our firm opinion that she’ll have made it. We need to support her fully in any case and circumstance.

The one thing we cannot afford right now is for our coalition to dissolve into more fractious squabbling. The world needs our power now more than ever, and to bring it to bear, we must centralize and fully focus it. There is only one person in all of these vast United States of ours who can do it as God knows it must be done, and that person is Nancy Pelosi.

Whichever way this goes, #Stand WithOurSpeaker.

A Strategy Going Forward-Hillary Clinton and the #MuellerReport.

The long-awaited #MuellerReport has been released!

Last week short a day, the long-awaited #MuellerReport came out. Thanks to our crook of an Attorney General, William Barr, it was heavily redacted, almost to the point of being a blatant coverup; actually, we can scratch almost. The Republicans have gone for a very, very huge and gigantic coverup, in fact, if we’d like to borrow language from the man who made all this necessary to begin with-Donald Trump, the illegitimate and babyish forty-fifth president.

For one thing, Trump’s lawyers got to see the special counsel Office’s report before Congress did.

“Earlier this week, the president’s personal counsel requested and was given the opportunity to read a final version of the redacted report before it was publicly released,” Barr said.

Unfortunately, by now, this feels like standard operating procedure. There are dangers in becoming desensitized to the corruption emanating from our government’s current operators.

A note from the editor- Millennial Democrats has been all but on hiatus, as I’ve processed this report, which is all but cataclysmic for Trump. Of course, he is claiming it exonerates him; that’s what he does. But five obsessive devourings of the document later, I can now say with a thorough degree of confidence that that report is damning for Donald. Utterly damning. It reads like a recipe for impeachment. The only real question is, what comes next?

The first paragraph of the Report is a few words about rules and regulations. It really begins with the first sentence of the second paragraph, in which Mueller is seen wasting little time.

“The Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion.”

This we know. Any cyber-activist who was online even in 2015 could tell you there was something going on. By 2016 it was obvious and ugly. People rolled their eyes at us because they didn’t want to believe it.

Now those people are staring down the barrel of 448 pages of evidence, compiled by the best legal minds in all of America, where every form of excellence finds its home.

It later concludes that the Trump Campaign team “expected to benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts”. The Report is arranged into two volumes, the first outlining the actual Russian interference into the 2016 United States Presidential election and the Trump Campaign’s involvement with it, and the second addressing the case for obstruction of justice.

In the end, Mueller’s team seems to have concluded that as Trump is the president, it wasn’t their legal right to charge him as that would be going against Justice Department regulations. This was never going to end with the Oval Office raided and the country’s leader dragged out in handcuffs. No matter how much Trump as a person is repugnant, that would have been devastating for America.

Mueller’s strategy is different.

A very serious set of crimes has been committed here, and no mistake. Mueller is very clear on that point. “First, the Office determined that Russia’s two principal interference operations in the 2016 U.S. presidential election-the social media campaign and the hacking-and-dumping operations violated U.S. criminal law.”

Partisan considerations ought not to have a say in this at all. Russia is our worst enemy, they hate us more than anyone. Only the Republicans don’t want to act like they know it, because they want to pose it as necessary to resist the rising tide of socialism in order to beat us. They have nothing else to hold on to, which has made them desperate. Desperate people do reckless, stupid things. They will not act with honor as the Republican-led Congress of the Nixon era did.

I’m proud to say that the best solution yet has been proposed by our candidate of choice in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton.

“Our election was corrupted, our democracy assaulted, our sovereignty and security violated. This is the definitive conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report. It documents a serious crime against the American people,” Clinton explained in opening her letter. “The debate about how to respond to Russia’s “sweeping and systematic” attack — and how to hold President Trump accountable for obstructing the investigation and possibly breaking the law — has been reduced to a false choice: immediate impeachment or nothing. History suggests there’s a better way to think about the choices ahead.”

This is an excellent point and even more proof of what we’ve been saying all along- that Hillary’s loss in 2016 was really America’s.

As the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi said a while back, Trump isn’t worth it.

Pelosi’s reasoning is sound, and she is our Speaker of the House. We will follow the national leadership on it because we realize we’ve got to pull together in this time of total crisis. The point is getting rid of him a year early isn’t enough incentive to rip the country apart again as Nixon’s corruption did back during Watergate, and as the Republican-led right wing did when they attacked Bill Clinton for very little. But Speaker Pelosi’s words back then were spoken before the release of the special counsel’s conclusory findings. Things may well be different now, and although it is a big step, it has to be considered seriously.

That report is not only a disaster for Trump. It’s a disaster for America.

The Russians got away with it, and that is sickening. Trump continues to carry out their agenda by continuously slandering the special counsel and us Democrats. He has done nothing to protect us from the Russians, which of course is leaving us open to every other major power in the world as well.

China has been massing on the South China Sea; it is said they may be planning a pre-emptive strike on our bases out there. It was actually the experience of running this website that taught us just how much an enemy we have in the Chinese.

For every attempt to hack in here the Russians have made, the Chinese have made at least ten.

My (possibly) Chinese friend, saying hello to me again. Hi, buddy. Change your ways!
My (possibly) Chinese friend, saying hello to me again. Hi, buddy. Change your ways!
This is the IP address of a hacker, purportedly from Beijing, who is always doing his best to get in here. Have at it, pal.
This is the IP address of a hacker, purportedly from Beijing, who is always doing his best to get in here. Have at it, pal.

The Chinese have 1.43 billion people living in their country, and every one of them has got the time to try to hack Millennial Democrats, it seems some days. You would not believe the amount of emails I’ve got saved up from my Sucuri plugin, awesome creation that it is. WordPress is great, as are most of the companies they partner with.

The reverse IP trace feature used by the program lets me know where they are from, which is how I ended up doing the research needed to learn Trump has a huge following in China, whose people are contemptuous of anti-Trump resistance. They refer to us in racist fashion as the “white left“, even though the base of the Democratic Party is largely multicultural and far from exclusively white.

What a pain in the neck. The Chinese, no less. This isn’t even their fight, but they’re flooding into the country’s cybernetics all the same, in the absence of a funded cyber-defense force. If you look at it from their point of view, why wouldn’t they? America is on top, and the Chinese can hardly be blamed for wanting to take our place. They sure have more a chance at that then Russia does. Soon other powers will rush to join in too, and it’ll be nothing but chaos on every wired circuit in America. I’ll have pictures like those above from every single corner of the globe.

Every bit of this the fault of Donald Trump, who is still butthurt about his election as totally illegitimate. His juvenile contrarianism has him utterly resistant to facts; he is, after all, a Fox News devotee. He is therefore not in a rush to fix even a single one of his mistakes. So while we’re not advocating a rush to impeachment proceedings, we certainly don’t feel like ruling them out.

I personally would have liked to see a lot more about Bernie Sanders in this report. It was never really about Trump himself. It was about the Russian interference into our election that concerned me most, not just taking down Trump. The Sanders campaign was no less culpable, no less infested, and no less managed by a former employee of Vladimir Putin’s, Tad Devine, who worked for him by proxy under Paul Manafort in Ukraine. He was the first witness called at Paul Manafort’s trial. He should have had his own.

At the end of the day, before we start getting into details, it’s good to keep in mind our long term goal, which is ensuring the welfare of America. This was done for the American people. It was about ensuring the sanctity of our political system.  There was more going on here than taking down Trump, although of course, that would have been nice. The guy really is an incompetent crook, which was my original problem with him, but this has gone so far beyond that now that it’s almost beside the point.

In accordance with Hillary’s plan, we’re going to be pushing for the following.

First, we want to see our Congress hold public, televised hearings on the matter, hearings designed to raise public awareness about what happened in 2016 and to fill in the gaps of the Mueller report. During Watergate, just like now, there was an investigation into the matter that found evidence of corruption and cover-ups. The purpose of the hearings is given by the former First Lady below.

“The televised hearings added to the factual record and, crucially, helped the public understand the facts in a way that no dense legal report could. Similar hearings with Mueller, former White House counsel Donald McGahn and other key witnesses could do the same today.” -Hillary Clinton.

Second, we want to substantially increase pressure on Donald Trump and the other Republicans to get busy protecting this country from anything like this being able to happen again. Kirstjen Nielsen, Trump’s recently departed secretary of Homeland Security, tried to prioritize it and was told to not even mention it around Trump. Later she resigned in disgrace before she was fired. This cannot be allowed. We have to be able to expect better from our leaders.

Third, we want to start moving forward together!  In terms of the economy, health care, climate change, and every other issue of importance, we Democrats have always had the answers in terms of how to run the country. They’re all right there in the 2016 Democratic Party Presidential Platform. But we have got to get out there and make our case.

“For today’s Democrats, it’s not only possible to move forward on multiple fronts at the same time, it’s essential. The House has already passed sweeping reforms that would strengthen voting rights and crack down on corruption, and now is the time for Democrats to keep their foot on the gas and put pressure on the do-nothing Senate. It’s critical to remind the American people that Democrats are in the solutions business and can walk and chew gum at the same time.” -Hillary Clinton.

We have to get this right, as HRC said. The stakes are too high. Mueller’s report has left lingering questions behind in its wake, and the importance of answering them has not diminished. We have got to find a way to solve these problems, move past this whole disaster, get our country back, and take the proper steps to make sure that nothing like this can ever happen again. Going forward, we can help to do it all by raising awareness. In the upcoming series of articles, we’ll be analyzing thoroughly the Report’s contents. A firm understanding of it will help us find the right way to go on this. In the end, perhaps it will be best to keep it simple.

Just trust in Hillary.

Trump’s SOTU Cheered as Venezuelan Socialism Falls- How Right Wing Gets Mileage From Far Left.

Trump's SOTU Cheered for Anti-Socialist Theme he stole from us.

As the Venezuelan crisis worsens, and the country’s failing socialism system continues to demonstrate why the likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are foolish, we are seeing the illegitimate president Trump’s new strategy at work. Now the long game becomes clear. Using no less a mouthpiece than the 2019 State of the Union Address, Trump both charted his 2020 strategy and scored big points by taking the time to score a shot on socialism, vowing that America will never be a socialist country.

It’s a little late to stand on that now, Donald, but we don’t kid ourselves that will stop you from trying.

This is what we’ve been warning against all along. The fake left is just as anti-Democrat as the right; why? How is it that their interests always manage to coincide? What were they playing at? Why has Trump been so soft on socialism until now? Why not during the election, when America really needed to hear all of our leaders saying it?

Because then it would have been too early.

In Ocasio-Cortez, in the few very loud members of our generation that have been hoodwinked into supporting this truly evil and invasive form of government, the Republicans now have a walking personification of all they have been fighting with their money to create: a just accusation that Democrats are socialists, and that to support us is to personally become the vector of socialism.  It’s George McGovern all over again.

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan situation provides a vivid example of how big disaster socialism can be. At the end of the SOTU speech, Trump did what he’s going to be doing a lot- pointing to Bernie Sanders in silence, looking horrified, waiting for the people to become so disgusted they can’t take it and vote against their interests. Policy be damned, they will say. Look at that blue clown suit. I would rather burn than have that guy as my president.

The claim that we Democrats are going to turn America into a Venezuelan socialist hellscape looks like something new, but as every reader of this blog will be aware, they’ve been laying the groundwork for it for the last several years. Contrary to Trump’s new narrative, the Democratic Party has never embraced Bernie Sanders. We do share some policies, but he goes too far with them and makes them look ridiculous. Now he’s got AOC there with him, screaming for seventy percent income tax rates on the rich and protesting Nancy Pelosi over climate change.

In the meantime, Tulsi Gabbard got involved as well, protesting Trump’s decision to condemn Maduro, which is about the one thing he has ever done right.

On both extremes of the political spectrum, everyone and everything they have is engaged in making the Democratic Party appear to be tilting left, at just the right moment for Trump.

“It seems to me that DJT has zero interest in expanding his coalition, and is going all-in on making the Democratic alternative unpalatable, hence the focus on opposing ‘socialism,’ ” the Republican strategist Michael Steel, a former senior adviser to the House G.O.P. leadership, told the New Yorker’s Susan B. Glasser in an e-mail the morning after the speech.

The entire Trump era, in many ways, feels like a return to the days of Richard Nixon. Parallels abound in terms of personnel, power, and politics. Perhaps above all else, a feeling that a growing extremity is pervading our country and reaching a dangerous level is strongly troubling American consciousness. It feels like chaos is everywhere. In such circumstances, history has shown that just about anything can happen.

One wonders if that isn’t the socialistic schemers’ whole point.

Cold War-era divisions have emerged along the same old lines as always. Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro is backed by Russia, China, and Cuba, which don’t want to lose an ally in the region. He has accepted billions in Russian and Chinese aid as his country’s economy  has exploded, and is now deeply indebted to some guys that are even worse than him. The Russian government has said it is considering installing an airbase in Venezuela, and there’s no doubt at all he’d let them do it. One wonders how Trump’s tough talk on Venezuela will jive with this desire of his boss. It’s one thing to stand up to a pack of screaming wingnuts, Donald. Try standing up to Putin for a change, why don’t you.

The Venezuelan situation, complete with right-wing exiles now involved in the political scene of Miami, brings us back to the good old days of international rancor over Latin American populist revolutions. One of the standard tropes of the Nixon era was the constant trouble over the Cuban Revolution, an event which saw its sixty-year anniversary pass by last month.

In that troubled time, revolutionary leader Fidel Castro managed with the help of the famous Che Guevara to overthrow the unpopular strongman Fulgencio Batista. Having done it, he went on to construct what he promised would be a more egalitarian Cuban regime. Soon after, he made sure to announce formally what U.S. military leaders and top officials had long known anyway- that this regime would be a communist one.

In a televised address not long after, Castro declared, “I am a Marxist-Leninist and shall be one until the end of my life.” He went on to state that, “Marxism or scientific socialism has become the revolutionary movement of the working class.”

The American right was empowered by that enough to justify decades worth of grotesque savagery. Shadows of doubt will always loom over the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

It’s important to note what Castro said there about socialism, “scientific” or otherwise. True communism, as envisioned conceptually by Karl Marx, is very different from the centralized socialism that grew into fruition in places like Cuba and the Soviet Union. The idea was to give over national resources to the working class, to be administered in some unknown way, at which point these completely unprepared and unsuspecting people are sent off to go to town creating a utopia (the Greek word for “nowhere”).

No one knows what that utopia might have looked like since it never happened.

What did happen was socialism, meaning that the State took ownership of absolutely everything and set about instantly setting itself up as the sole power in the land, choosing for everyone what they would have and not have, and creating a new type of elite based on party loyalty and bureaucratic efficiency. One tiny central hub, e.g. Moscow, controls every scrap of land and enjoys total autonomy within it. Every evidence shows this practice to have caused an unreal amount of human misery everywhere it has been tried; for example, China locked an entire ethnic population, the Uighurs, more than a million deep into labor camps last fall. This is not a dream.

Then as now, and in those countries as in Venezuela, the whole sloppy mess was a disaster. It starved five million people to death in the first five years of Vladimir Lenin’s reign when the Soviet Union was born. It was not well thought out, to try and apply a political theory off the pages of a book to actual human society. Socialism is something to be avoided completely and utterly, and Americans are aware of it. It is one thing we were taught in school that is all but inarguably true- not that this stops certain people from arguing it anyway.

All this history lessoning aside, we can all see what’s going on here. Trump is making a big show out of his sudden anti-socialism posture, but actually, it’s disingenuous in the extreme for him to do so. He has subscribed all along to the usual American far-right strategy, which is to consider liberals the true enemy, not communists or socialists.

This is why Trump sided with Bernie Sanders in 2016. Instead of saying at that time, Socialism is a disaster and we should all come together on this, he chose to court a bromance with the Bern and reviled us for “stealing” the election from the man Hillary Clinton beat by nearly four million votes. His base has oft-repeated this slanderous claim.

Trump waited until Nancy Pelosi gave him permission to give the 2019 SOTU before he would finally go after the fake left. We’ve been here cleaning house the whole time, and he wants to co-opt all the hard work we Democrats have done. He thinks it’s the right time to cash in. But long before the day this started, the right has done all it can to empower and incite the socialists because they know it will make things harder for us. They want Ocasio-Cortez to be the face of our Party more than anything.

Now they’ve got their Goldstein, in the 1984 scenario.

In reality, of course, Democrats are the ones on the front lines of the struggle against socialism. The reason for this is simple. American democracy is the only pillar in the world still holding up the idea of human freedom, and it’s under attack from every angle. The only people in the world who are here to protect it are us, Democrats. When the Proud Boys and Antifa come in masks, to brawl in the streets and smash windows out, we’re the ones who break it up and send them all home or to jail.

The far right uses the far left to manipulate the public all the time. That’s what agent provocateurs are for. That’s what the Nixon era taught us, and it’s why we need to be so careful now.

It’s important to realize that this could have deep implications for us. Florida is one of the most key of all the swing states, as anyone who remembers the 2000 presidential race was stolen from Al Gore can tell you. The political scale there is so evenly weighted that percentages involving tenths of a percent are often what decide its elections.

For Trump to gain support from the Venezuelan emigre community of Miami at this time would be extremely bad for our chances in 2020. He is hitting a lick off posturing as anti-socialist, but he did the opposite in 2016. Going forward, it will be incumbent upon us to raise awareness on this. Trump is a Johnny-come-lately at this game. He’s really just a poser.

In the last analysis, the thing to remember is this: Trump has not stood for democracy or its institutions at all. The World Economic Forum no longer considers America to be a full democracy, because of him. MAGA hats have become like armbands worn by Nazis, and Trump is the white power symbol successor of Hitler. It’s worth reminding the world that fascism came from socialism. It was the branch of it designed by Mussolini. The alt left and the far right is exactly the same entity.

“The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves,” said Vladimir Lenin a hundred years ago.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we refuse to accept a false equivalency. We equally reject the totalitarian nightmares that arise both from fascism and socialism, and from that posture, we call not only for the resignation of the disgraced dictator Nicholas Maduro.

We call with equal lungpower for the resignation of the disgraced dictator Donald Trump.

#TrumpShutdown Ends, Roger Stone Arrested- One Great Day For America.

One Great Day for America.

Hello, world, from Millennial Democrats! We’d like to bear you all our most heartfelt good tidings on this great American day. It is our extreme pleasure to announce that Trump has caved, and signed a Democratic bill to reopen the government. The shutdown is over. And Roger Stone has been arrested.

Frankly, what more can you really ask out of a single day? Speaking on my own behalf, I can say for sure. I couldn’t be any happier if I had won the lottery. I have just been sick over where this country is headed. Eight hundred thousand federal workers, going for a month without pay. It’s been one indignity after another, since the day this began and long before.

Trump’s presidency is now two years and five days old, and every day of it has been an insult to common sense and decency. Remember the first travel ban? He hadn’t been in office for two weeks, and it was worldwide pandemonium in airports. Seven continents worth of airports, clogged and logjammed with people who were suddenly- and artificially- stranded. That was the first time Trump caused a disaster for America- disaster is his favorite word- but it sure wasn’t the last. He has used this word constantly all throughout his political career. But ever since the Democrats retook the House, he has been using actual disasters as a bargaining chip and a way to deflect attention. He is said to have been convinced Pelosi would cave, and he lamented deeply.

Why are they [sic: us Democrats] always so loyal?

You will never understand, Donald. Never.

Who knows what Trump was thinking. It’s unreal that he could have self-deluded to this extent. If he thought he was going to come in here and bluster and bully Nancy Pelosi into giving him a wall, that’s a joke. Our Speaker could probably beat that old clown in a fistfight, let alone the political arena. Remember the G7 Summit in 2017, when he had to ride a golf cart behind all the other world leaders, who were all in shape and walking? That was great for our world image, let me tell you. Old, winded, out-of-shape America. Just look at them. So much for the Art of the Deal.

Disasters they are, but the disasters are of his own creation. This is a gigantic humiliation for Trump. He capitulated completely, but not before nearly tanking the economy, causing thousands of federal workers to file for unemployment relief, and causing significant cracks in that base of his that used to forgive him anything. His poll numbers went into nuclear meltdown. He got not one dollar for a wall. He shut the government down for absolutely nothing, and he is now the laughingstock of every single person in the world. He’s on Twitter at this very moment, whining about how he wishes people would “listen to his words” about why this is not the most gigantically cowardly and buffoonish concession in the history of all mankind. You’ve got to be kidding. This is the penultimate cave. It’s the Mammoth of caves. It’s really more like a cavern.

Thirty-five days, the government stayed shut down over this. What a total and gigantic waste. Citizens were about to lose their food stamps, and that would have really killed people, especially the sick and the very old. Trump came very close to committing his administration’s second atrocity; we’ve known for a while that his administration’s ICE has literally lost nearly fifteen hundred little kids, so we can’t call it the first. This one would have been all his fault, though. No one else to blame; Trump starved old people to death to get Russiagate out of the news. Quite a legacy; perhaps that’s why he caved. If so, it would be the one worthy thing he has done during this whole affair, which of course is why the conservatives are reviling him, specifically as a “Wimp”.

Ann Coulter congratulated the departed George Herbert Walker Bush on no longer being the biggest wimp ever to hold the office. Undoubtedly, that is so. The whole thing was the ravings of an idiot in the first place, a foolish campaign promise, something for the slobs at his rallies to scream for alongside “Lock ‘er up!” Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.) blames the far-right Freedom Caucus. “I hope he ignores them for the next three weeks,” King said. “It’s the charge of the Light Brigade. It’s the Valley of Death.”

These days it’s not Hillary Clinton who is facing prison time and getting locked up. It’s all of Trump’s friends, and that brings us to the second piece of the day’s big news. This morning, federal prosecutors kicked in the door of Roger Stone, self-described political dirty trickster, and hauled him off to jail. It cost him $250,000 to bail himself out, which he probably got from some Russian still hoping to hit an easy lick. We’d like to say that’s over with for Russia. Unfortunately, Bernie Sanders had to try and spoil the day by running for president again, so there will probably be plenty of fresh acrimonies for them to exploit, especially during the primaries. We’ll get to that soon. For tonight, we would like to say God bless America and express to him our deepest gratitude. Because very soon we will be saying goodbye to Donald Trump.

Roger Stone may have sworn his loyalty, but that won’t do Donald any good, because Roger is just a poser anyway. No serious person would tattoo Richard Nixon’s face on their back. He missed the boat on Watergate and has spent the rest of his life yearning for the halcyon days when domestic fascism was strong enough to create this kind of scandal without the help of Russian rubles. Sleep well, Roger Stone. You sold out your country to the Russians, the worst enemies of America. And while the others did it for greed, or because of misplaced convictions based on sexism, you did it strictly out of malice, because that is what you do. Enjoy going down in the history books next to Benedict Arnold and Vidkun Quisling.

How sweet it is. Remember that one documentary for Netflix he did, Get Me Roger Stone? “I revel in your hate!” he defiantly shot at Democrats. Hate isn’t the word, exactly; more like loathing and disgust. We might have thrown up our hands then, but now we’re smoothing back our hair with them. Go ahead and revel, then, Rog. Have a blast, right there in your prison cell, eating Ramen noodles with Paul Manafort. His We’ll all be reveling together, in that case. It’s been a great day for America. Today, we stayed the land of the free, and the home of the brave. We have not, as Mark Twain once said, exchanged our honor for a phrase. If a phrase is needed, then perhaps this Republican president of yesterday’s will suffice.

“Mr. President, tear down that wall.” -Ronald Reagan

#ProtectMueller! New AG Barr Confirmation Raises Specter of Saturday Night Massacre.

#ProtectMueller! New AG Barr Confirmation Raises Specter of Saturday Night Massacre

Here on the eve of the confirmation of the new Attorney General pick, William Barr, questions abound about the Russiagate investigation and the eventual fate of the special counsel Robert Mueller chosen to administrate it. Barr has been critical of Mueller’s investigation but has stated that he will not interfere. We’ll see. To put it mildly, serious reasons exist to doubt the sincerity of America’s abortive failure of a forty-fifth president when he says he will not fire Mueller, the man who has compiled the case that will likely destroy him. Barr seems like a rubber stamp brought in to do just that, the hatchetman of Russian assets. We hope he proves us wrong.

If Trump does fire Mueller, it will be highly reminiscent of another corrupt president who fired a special prosecutor, president Richard Milhous Nixon. Nixon’s firing of Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox began the end of his presidency, and so conventional wisdom has held that Trump will not go there. Congressional Republicans have also said that the firing of the special counsel Mueller would be a crossing of the line for them, although it’s true we have no reason to believe them either. They have caved to Trump on everything and often in the most shameful imaginable ways. Devin Nunes, former chairman of the House Intelligence Oversight Committee, was recently found to be deliberately covering up House findings in order to protect Trump.

When considered as part of the whole incident, it seems clear this could be destined to bring us into uncharted territory completely if Trump does go the Nixon route. It wouldn’t save him, and it would damn him further in the opinion of many, but he wouldn’t resign as Nixon did. His conduct during the lengthening and unnecessary #TrumpShutdown proves him once again to be utterly without scruples. It is certain he will use the country as hostages again in the process of getting the Russiagate spotlight off of him. Thus, we have no choice but to conclude that the conventional wisdom- which also did not predict the shutdown, or the fool’s errand that was the travel ban, or the Helsinki debacle, or any number of other horrible things- is probably wrong again.

Of course Trump would fire Mueller. ‘Don’t expect Trump to go quietly’, read a Washington Post article published on January 14th. He’s got the whole country held hostage at this moment, he unrepentantly lies about anything that happens to cross his mind, and he thinks he’s “winning”, whatever that even means in the context of a ruined economy and a devastated government. I guess it means getting Employee of the Month from Vladimir Putin. Firing Mueller would fit right in as the stupidest and worst for America thing he could possibly do. It’s a glaring absence in his resume as it is.

Slava.

In related news, Trump, who was in the news over the weekend for having sworn his interpreters in his three closed-door meetings with Putin to secrecy, has taken an increasingly aggressive and door-closed stance toward Mueller’s requests for an in-person interview. Gone are the days when he boasts of having done nothing and means his crimes. The Trump of yesterday always said of Mueller that “No one wants to speak more than me“. That line is yesterday’s news, although references to the “Fake News Media” that has plagued him like the Furies remain plentiful. As usual, Trump blames himself for nothing, and provides an object- and abject- example to American children of what a spoiled brat at its worst can do.

News that the special counsel has already drafted a report- a report that draws the most damning possible conclusions- joined the confiscation of notes taken during his closed-door meetings with Putin as the two top stories in the news this weekend. Trump‘s behavior toward the Russian president was the focus of Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein on Sunday, when he appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources. While there, Bernstein- whose investigative journalism helped to take down Nixon- said the special counsel investigating Trump will find he “helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the [2016] election.” Any Facebook activist can tell you this. We’ve seen it develop from the day they prepared the Wikileaks dumps.

He is joined in this dramatically terrible conclusion by many of the counterintelligence specialists in the country, including FBI investigators assigned to the case directly. The Bureau has now let the public know that they’ve been monitoring his conduct viz. Vladimir Putin all along. God bless the good old American Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has now come through for this country through two attempted fascist takeovers.

We would also like to give a farewell salute to the former and departing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who did not have to pick someone who would look into this as hard as Mueller would, and acted with integrity throughout in spite of Republican reviles. His decency and professionalism will be missed.

In the last analysis, from the standpoint of this illegitimate infantile president, sitting back and letting this atomic report fall on him would most likely be better than trying to resist the inevitable by trying to bring this to an end. Cracks in Trump’s base are said to be forming at last, and as these people realize what they’ve been buying into, more and more of them will be looking for a new home, and a sane alternative. Our capacity to find this for them will prove to be a critical part of success for us as we move forward. Russia has been the chiefest enemy of America for nearly a hundred years now, and most Americans still know that. Reminding them is the way to go moving forward.

The Real Estate Dream and the Moscow Motivation- Document Shows Plans For Russian Trump Tower.

The Moscow Motivation.

The nation received even more bombshell Russiagate information today, in the form of what you might call the Moscow Motivation. CNN’s Chris Cuomo has a signed letter of intent from Donald Trump to build a tower in Moscow. Long after he told the American people he had stopped his business dealings there, he was, in fact, continuing along with it the whole time. The 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump was formally launched on June 16, 2015, at Trump Tower in New York City. It was only four months later that he signed the document, known as an LOI, with Russia. In this document is every single reason why Donald Trump has sold his country out.

Rudy Giuliani, looking more like a zombie than ever, claimed on Sunday that while the document might exist, it was never signed. “It was a real estate project. There was a letter of intent to go forward, but no one signed it,” Giuliani told Bash.

You were lying, Rudy, you Times Square ruining animal. On the other hand, thank you for revealing to us the extent of mental desperation you people are in, over there at Team Trump. They’re counting on Trump’s base to save them, and those people feed on lies. But it’s not going to work anymore. People are on their way to prison over this. One of them is retired three-star general and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, whose sentencing judge, Emmet G. Sullivan, did not “Bother to hide [his] disgust” at Flynn, who in his view- and ours- “Arguably sold out [his] country.” Trump’s old lawyer Michael Cohen is on his way to the can too. It is not a game.

A copy of the signed letter of intent is provided here. The letter is dated October 28, 2015, and bears the illegitimate president’s signature. It clearly shows the stage being set for negotiations for Trump to build all kinds of stuff on Russia, on Putin’s dollar. I guess he figured Trump and his brand would be very popular in Russia by then, which he was. There were to be condominiums, a hotel and commercial property in the heart of Moscow.
This whole time, we have adhered to Democratic principles and hesitated to label what Trump has done treason, difficult as it has been not to scream it out loud in the streets. But Flynn’s sentencing judge finally did what someone in authority needed to do, and said the word aloud. He asked if the government had considered the charge of treason specifically. They’re still saying no, on Flynn, who has been like their star witness. Apparently, because we are not at war with the nation he sold us out to, he can’t technically be considered a traitor. Neither can Trump, by the same token.
Legal mumbo-jumbo aside, it sure seems like treason to us laymen, is what I will say.
Still, even without the treason charge thrown in, Trump is deluged in tidal waves of his own corruption and collusion. Trump Foundation shut its doors today as well, amid reports of football helmets bought for $12,000– Tim Tebow’s, which he must now sell- and battles over lampposts at the Mar-a-Lago. New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced the news Tuesday morning. If you look at it, this dwarfs Watergate so completely that it’s total. To sell out the country to the Russians? Nixon himself is rolling over in the grave. He hated the Russians as much as anybody, having fought them by proxy all the way through Vietnam. Not that hating Russians is good, but that’s just the kind of guy he was. The world needs a lot less hate, and a lot less of guys like Republican Richard Nixon. Not to mention Donald Trump.

Blue Wave Looms Above Trump Era’s Second Labor Day.

#BlueWave2018

Happy Labor Day, from Millennial Democrats! This is our second one. We’d like to thank you all for sticking by us. It’s been a great first year for our young organization.

Too bad for Donald Trump that he can’t say the same. A strong Blue Wave is about to knock him right over.

By now talking about what a disaster this illegitimate and infantile White House occupant is won’t be necessary to explain why the values of Labor Day are grotesquely violated by his era. He still hasn’t even been in office half a term, and he’s already made it clear that there never was a worse president.

Last year Trump gave America an actual Labor Day present, by way of reassuring us as to what a sane and balanced man we had running our country.

“Hurricane Harvey was wonderful”, Trump said, in the following statement regarding the survivors of the storm he’d met at the disaster relief center he visited.

They were just happy,” Trump said, referencing the disaster in a speech that included a bizarre list of phrases. “We saw a lot of happiness. It’s been really nice. It’s been a wonderful thing. It’s been beautiful.”

Unreal as it seems looking back, he really said it. That’s who he is, that’s how he is. But for that same reason, we got another Labor Day present. Donald’s disastrous showing in the polls.

Ever since George Gallup first invented his public opinion polling system, back in 1937, annual collections of this data have been assembled and compiled. Approval polls are still considered a reasonably valid indicator of the public mood.

Trump’s approval ratings, on average, are the worst any president has ever had. By far. It’s below 40%, which pretty much fits what we all know- He isn’t fit for the job.

Still, we’ve seen this before, and we don’t want to overestimate it. Things that would have finished anyone else seem not even to affect Trump, because he was such a misfit in the first place.

Everyone knew who and what he was after the Access Hollywood “Grab ’em by the p***y” tape, and they made their choice back then. So many of the people who stump for him say he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue in broad daylight and they’d be fine with it. It’s the Sunk Cost effect on full display.

When the Washington Post/ABC News poll released last week showed President Trump’s approval down to 36 percent, they cautioned that more polling over a longer period of time would be needed to tell if this was simply a blip or if Trump’s disaster life and the scandals that fall from it like scabs have finally taken their toll.

Now we have yet another poll giving us those same numbers as feedback, and also explaining why.

“Trump lost significant ground on job approval with Republicans this month, which fell from 83% last month to 76% this month. Among independents, Trump’s approval dropped 4 points to 33%.”

Yes, the old rating machine, DJT, is getting just precisely what he deserves.

I was particularly pleased to note Democratic approval has never been above the low single digits. Democrats are smart and tough and the country’s only hope.

If it were not for us, democracy would have fallen in the 1970’s after Watergate, under Richard Nixon. This should never be forgotten. Anytime you get a chance to speak up for the Democrats, do so.

It’s been a long and awful ride, from last Labor Day to this one, and it’s been a long year. It’s hardly possible for anyone to forget that the last twelve months have seen little children locked en masse in dog kennels.

I predicted before the election that if Hillary Clinton got robbed of her rightful place in the White House, it would be nothing but indignity for America. Those words have come true beyond anything I feared at the time, although not by much. It was pretty obvious, really.

Starting with the hundred people killed in the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, many have died, fighting to secure the rights that Americans now enjoy. We pay homage to their sacrifice on Labor Day.

Last year, I wrote about what it means to celebrate a day dedicated to America’s working people, in a time so filled with corruption and despair as the Trump era.

I hoped we could honor the fallen ones by getting rid of Trump and all his cronies, and I was not the only one.

Last year, all of that seemed very far away. Now we’re 63 days from a Blue Wave coming along and Making America Clean Again.

As this article was being written, the news came through that Trump will try to block the Mueller report from public view. It seems clear there is plenty of labor ahead, and we’ll be here beside you for all of it.

Enemy of the People- Trump’s Attacks On Media Border The Deranged.

Our illegitimate president behaving like a thug.

When demagogues incite their followers to violence, they are to blame. Perhaps they are not solely responsible, but they play a key role, a bigger role than any other person. That is what Donald Trump either doesn’t understand- or understands all too well.

Controversy has emerged in recent days over a story carried by CNN in July that was co-written by Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame. In it, the story gets broken that Michael Cohen knew that Trump knew in advance about the infamous Trump Tower meeting in June 2016 between members of his campaign team and Russian individuals.

Cohen’s lawyer later said he misspoke, but CNN stands behind the story. Two of its employees told Business Insider senior politics reporter Allan Smith the network’s level of commitment to its story is “100%.”

On Wednesday, Trump called Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein, who co-wrote the piece, “sloppy” and a “degenerate fool” in response. Bernstein retorted on Twitter that he has spent his “life as a journalist bringing the truth to light, through administrations of both parties.”

That may be true, but it sure isn’t what Trump wants to hear. And it isn’t what he wants people to do. That’s why he’s always going on vile rampages and outbursts against the American press, people whose jobs are getting more dangerous by the day.

Earlier this year five journalists were massacred at the Annapolis Capital Gazette, and for a few days in the aftermath, Trump toned down his slanders and slurs. He invited New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger to the White House, and for a second it had started to look like things would be okay.

But the next day he reverted to his Stalinist slogan, “Enemy of the People“, to incite his followers to future mayhem.

Not long after, Trump held a “campaign” rally in Tampa. At it, a frenzied mob went berserk with reviles and rage toward CNN’s chief White House correspondent, Jim Acosta.

The scene left most of us who write about politics deeply shaken, including Acosta.

“It felt like we weren’t in America anymore,” Acosta said.

Earlier this week, a man named Robert D. Chain was arrested for allegedly threatening to murder journalists at the Boston Globe.  He was said to have been mimicking Trump’s language.

“You’re the enemy of the people, and we’re going to kill every f***ing one of you.”

Anytime in the past that we’ve had this sort of thing, we’ve always come together to insist that we won’t have it. Whoever our leader has happened to be at the time has always done what they could to help things calm down. They certainly haven’t made it their policy to make things worse by inciting it.

The fact that Trump is doing just the opposite is yet another warning, a huge flashing neon sign, that things have gone wrong and we are now all in a really bad situation.

Earlier this year, we were dismayed to learn the U.S. has dropped to spot 45 in this year’s ranking of countries based on press freedom, conducted by the non-government association(NGO) Reporters Without Borders.

Their survey ranked 180 countries based on factors such as pluralism, transparency, and the quality of the infrastructure that supports the production of their news.

Unsurprisingly, the report specifically calls out Trump as the reason for the United States’ reduced standing.

“A media-bashing enthusiast, Trump has referred to reporters as ‘enemies of the people,’ the term once used by Josef Stalin,” the report says.

Trump has done more than anyone to appropriate and misuse the term “fake news” in retaliation for critical reporting, even though his campaign was the source of most of the garbage that brought the term into common use.

He also got us bad marks for revoking the broadcasting licenses of media outlets who are critical of him and his lousy policies.

Last year Trump released a doctored pro wrestling video of his halcyon days hanging out at the Madison Square Garden, clotheslining an opponent who has the CNN logo slapped over his head. It was pretty ridiculous to think that such a man is now our president, but that is nevertheless how it went.

The first time it was merely silly, but nobody is laughing now.

This morning, on the topic, the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent wrote that whether rhetorical excesses can be blamed for violence or the threat of it is a complicated topic, with no easy answers.

I’m not sure I agree. The complexity lies only in degree; it seems pretty clear that people can whip each other up into violence if they’ve got a stage and a microphone.

You don’t have to be Adolf Hitler or Charles Manson, either; there’s no wizardry of dialect needed. Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst told his fans to “get angry” at Woodstock ’99, and they did, and people rioted, and a girl got gang-raped in the middle of the mosh pit.

Is Fred Durst a man who is blessed with the same rhetorical gifts as Cicero or Demosthenes? Doubtful, but he does at least seem to be better than Trump. Was he solely at fault? No. But he certainly helped to kick things off.

Likewise, our nation’s 45th president will have helped to kick off his own fanatical followers, if any of them decide again to actually do what he’s been nudging them to do, and treat members of the press as though they really were Enemies of the People.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we want to emphasize how important a free press is, how important it is to adhere to journalistic standards. Without one we’re back in the Dark Ages. The media is the friend of the people, because they bring the people its information. It’s good to promote this point of view, going forward.

One Year In- 45th Fumes As Mueller Investigation Turns Two.

The Mueller investigation heats up as we enter Year Two.

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the formation of the special counsel investigation headed by Robert Mueller, and what a year it’s been.

Initially, its mandate was to investigate what the newly elected president knew about Russian interference into the 2016 election. But it quickly became clear that the president’s possible criminal tendencies would make it necessary to go a lot farther.

The president’s old lawyer, Ty Cobb, told him this would all be over by now. He got fired. The top lawyers in the country all refused to replace him. And then his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, got busted himself, and was replaced by former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is both over the hill and insane.

All is not well in the White House.

Over the past three decades, the man the Russians helped to elect as the president has allegedly committed just about every crime there is, from tax evasion to domestic abuse to sexual assault.

They say the past always catches up, and it seems like in this case, that is true.

In the last year, we have seen the myriad investigations into Donald Trump range all over the place, as America continues to learn more and more about what manner of man holds court in its highest office. This last week has illustrated the situation for us, in microcosm.

The Senate Judiciary Committee released hundreds of pages of interviews relating to Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. A few from Donald Trump Jr. shed light on a critical meeting between Trump campaign brass and Russians at Trump Tower in June 2016.

The Senate Intelligence Committee announced that it agreed with the Intelligence Community’s assessment that Russia sought to interfere in the 2016 election to help Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton.

And the Office of Government Ethics made public Trump’s 2017 financial disclosure statement.

That one hurts him.

This document is stone cold proof that he reimbursed Michael Cohen, his personal lawyer, for the $130,000 paid in hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Obviously very damning, but by then it was old news.

That one came courtesy of Trump’s lawyer, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, who really loves to talk.

He told us all that Trump knew of the Cohen payments on Sean Hannity’s talk show a day after he got the spot on the bench of Trump’s legal team. You’d think that would have taught him to shut up, but it didn’t. Earlier this week, he was talking again, to CNN’s Dana Bash.

He was boasting that he had been told by the special counsel’s office that they did not believe they could indict a sitting president, as per Justice Department regulations established during the Nixon era.

Who expected that? We’re obviously not going to send the sitting president to prison! He’d have to stand up for the morning head count, in the middle of security briefings! That was never the plan, it would be ludicrous.

If Rudy’s intent was to console his capo, by reassuring him he’s not getting locked up next week, it seems to this Millennial Democrats contributor that he has admirably failed in that duty.

What Giuliani’s speech really did, was to let us know things have gotten so serious, that Mueller and his team have probably been considering disregarding the previous Justice Department regulations and locking him up anyway.

It’s hard to understand why a legal expert would do this much talking, even if he is demented and past his prime. It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense. But that’s the nature of this administration and life in the country during it. Nothing makes sense, everything is topsy-turvy.

The same celebrities we loved twenty years ago have all turned into monsters, because they stepped into the political arena. They’re all so many fish out of the water. They don’t look any happier to be in power as we are to have them there.

As we prepare to follow this investigation into its second year, the big takeaway from the first one is that Donald Trump is almost certainly at least as guilty as Richard Nixon. But unlike Nixon, he probably won’t resign for the good of the country. And that is where the true crisis lies.

When Robert Mueller makes his recommendation at the end of all this, he very well may ultimately walk up to the desk of Rod Rosenstein and say Yeah, he did it! He knew everything!

It would then be the duty of the legislative branch to impeach him. Judging from their past conduct, it’s all too possible that this Congress, with their Republican majority, may not. They have undermined the Russiagate investigation from its first day.

If Trump is guilty and the Republicans ignore it, our democracy will have faced its greatest peril. We’ve got to do everything in our power to see to it that the Republicans in control of the House and Senate act with honor and fulfill their pledge to defend this country against tyranny, from within or without.

If they do not, we will soon go the way of the Roman Empire.

As this article was getting ready to publish, the news broke that Rudy Giuliani is talking again. This morning, he says that Robert Mueller has agreed to narrow the scope of his questioning in order to interview Donald Trump himself.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Republicans DREAD The Blue Wave! Expect Them To Fight Dirty.

#NeverTrump

2018 is shaping up to be a historic year for the Democratic Party. We’ve got all the momentum in the world. The Blue Wave gets stronger every day. The Republicans just announced a budget of $250 million for the midterms, to try and stave it off.

This is why now is the time for us to be very careful, and keep our eyes open for Republican dirty tricks. The Republicans have nothing else to offer.

Right now, the primaries are going smooth, in spite of various attempts at disruption, but the closer we get to midterms, the more likely it’s going to be that they find ways to drop bombs on us.

Remember the Brooks Brothers riot?

In 2000, during the Bush-Gore recount, hundreds of paid GOP operatives led by prideful dirtbag Roger Stone caused a “near riot” outside a counting room in Miami-Dade County, forcing the canvassing board to shut down the count.

That one’s a bit aged at this point, although still quite vivid for me; a little more recent an example might be made of the recall election for the governorship of Wisconsin, back in 2012.

Voters across the state were receiving robocalls telling them that if they had already signed a petition to recall Scott Walker, they did not need to get out and vote.

Those things are bad enough, but often this even gets personal; they will literally walk in your front door.

One example involves Karl Rove‘s brief tenure in the Democratic Party.

At age 19, he was the protege of Donald Segretti of Watergate fame- the guy who coined the term “ratf*cking, as in, f*cking a DemocRAT”.

In the fall election season of 1970, a bespectacled and fresh-faced teenager turned up at the Chicago campaign headquarters of Alan Dixon, a Democrat running for state treasurer in Illinois. He had a few drinks and left- but not before stealing some of Dixon’s letterheaded stationery.
It took some time to put it together, when 1,000 invitations on campaign stationery began circulating in Chicago’s red-light district and soup kitchens, promising “free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing” guaranteed for anyone who showed up at Dixon’s headquarters.
Hundreds of the city’s heavy drinkers and homeless turned up at his reception, looking for booze and an orgy.
The teenager who stole those letterheads was key GOP strategist Karl Rove, and the incident marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career of being the biggest scumbag he could be.
Was Rove able to do this because he is a genius? Not quite. He simply knew that as Democrats, we are honor bound to take in everyone. We take people in, and we hold them dear, and we stand up for each other. This is our greatest strength. But, as with anything, it gives an opening to the opposition, people who are cutthroats and criminals of the highest order.
People do what Rove did to the Dixon campaign back then all the time. They pretend to be our friends, hang out with us for a while, and then bail for no reason or on an extremely thin and shady pretense.
Both during and after the election, anecdotally speaking, I can remember a number of different relationships that suddenly went south for no reason.
I also recall a number of trusted people who suddenly switched sides during the election, at the worst possible time.
Knowing what we do now about what the Russians and Republicans were doing, it seems very possible those incidents were part of a coordinated effort to spread rancor and distrust. They certainly were divisive at the time. You don’t stab your own people in the back.
Another example manifested in the post-election days, a time when interest in politics is usually very low. In all the Facebook groups in our network, after the election was over, we all started getting hundreds and hundreds of new member requests, every day, from profiles that had thousands of group memberships, etc.
One source, who has screened new member requests for several dozen pro-Democratic Party Facebook groups since before the election began, made the following statement, under the conditions of anonymity.

“From mid-May 2017 to the end of July 2017, roughly 80% of the new member request were rabidly pro-Bernie Sanders supporters with profiles that appeared to be hijacked from the real owners or that were simply fake accounts. They seemed to have been created for the purpose of loading them up with pro-Sanders, anti-Democratic Party fake news to be spread by computer generation across Facebook.

People from as diverse a location as Brussels, Wales, Provo, Utah, and “General Location, Russia” have tried to hack the blog. I get emails on them from all over the world. This is nothing new, it’s an everyday event. My Sucuri plugin lets me know their IP addresses. It looks just like this:

Bored, uncreative loser who tried to hack me
An example of a turd who tried to hack us.

Then, we go to a place called WhatismyIPaddress.com, and take a look at where they’re from. It looks a lot like this:

Creepy.
All of this is meant to illustrate that this is the time to be really careful.  Stuff can come up until the very last minute that’s a total game changer. For an example that’s been in the news recently, look no further than the  “November surprise” handed to the Republicans by James Comey in 2016. That did a lot to cost HRC the election.
Safeguarding the Blue Wave is our lot. That’s what we’re here to do. We’ve got to build it, grow it, guide it, and stop jealous neighbors from poisoning its waters. So long as we do a good job at that, the Republicans can never hope to beat us.
