Mass Shootings Trump Style-Nazi Coup, Business As Usual-Is There A Difference?

I went to sleep on Saturday night with a troubled spirit, thinking about Donald Trump and Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, thanks to a soon-to-be-forgotten Trump-supporting scumbag terrorist who shot more than forty people in El Paso, Texas. A mother of three, an army veteran, a teenage kid. That’s who he was killing.

When I woke up and heard about another double-digit shooting committed by a maniac from deep within Trump country, this time in Dayton, Ohio, I took a deep breath and realized. It may well be beginning.

Folks, they’re killing us out here. Keep your eyes open, and be ready. It’s coming down like hailstorms all around us.

We tried to tell them, back then. The Jill Stein bots, the Bernie or Busters, etc. You people, I say to them, are the biggest morons to have ever disgraced God’s green earth, by the way; this is just as much your fault as it is the ones who support Trump outright. Vote for Hillary Clinton, or none of this will be stoppable. The strength of our coalition will only last so long without money or leadership. At this point, it’s just the sheer guts and toughness and endless determination of the people committed to Resistance keeping this alive.

Anyone out there thinking of dropping the torch ought to remember that. And Ilhan Omar, please remember next time your Party needs you all the times we’ve had to #StandForIlhan because you shot your mouth off and made yourself a Nazi target doing so. We’re just as against socialism as anyone else, probably more so. But you don’t want to be that guy who said nothing when they came for the Communists. That mistake has already been made. We’re all in it together, at this point. Up to our necks.

Speaking of Nazi-like mistakes, like support for Donald Trump, which wasn’t something you could be open about in 2016. It wasn’t safe to be an openly white nationalistic Nazi pig, and that’s how it should be. Nazi symbols and propaganda are illegal in most of Europe, and it ought to be here. While we don’t condone or advocate for people doing things like vandalizing cars or refusing to help Trump supporters stranded on the road, we can sure understand them. They were done to deter what is happening now.

Anyone who heard how Trump was talking leading up to the November disaster that was his illegitimate victory, coincidentally sharing its date with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles ninety-eight years prior, could not help but think of Adolf Hitler and his Nazis- and the Holocaust.

Back then, there was a particularly vile Nazi who went by the name of Julius Streicher. His newspaper was sexually perverse and went by the name of Der Sturmer- the Stormer.

These days a model of originality called The Daily Stormer exists in sour tribute to that one.

Andrew “weev” Auernheimer is one of the key contributors to the neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer. He wrote in the comments of a post on The Daily Stormer called “Full Text of Alleged Manifesto of El Paso Shooter” that violence against non-whites is “desirable.”

“Random violence is not detrimental to our cause, because we need to convince Americans that violence against nonwhites is desirable or at least not something worth opposing anyways, because there’s no way to remove a hundred million people without a massive element of violence,” Auernheimer wrote.

Back in the days of Nazi Germany, it was all unacceptable, right up until it wasn’t. Adolf Hitler was no billionaire like Trump, nor was he much like Trump in other ways, stupid, slow, slovenly. He was a pervert and a psychopath, but it must be conceded by any metric that the man was incredibly able. Intelligent, ruthless, and cunning. I worry every day about someone like him taking up the Trumpism torch.

But he did have the same sort of man-of-the-people air about him that Trump does, which is why-much like here- the political elites of Germany didn’t find it thinkable to accept him as the leader of the country. His movement was noisy, loud, common, and led by a former bum from the streets of Vienna. To call such a man their leader was not, in the beginning, quite the plan.

The final president of the Weimar Republic, Paul von Hindenburg, used to refer to him contemptuously as “that Austrian corporal”, and would not until the final days of his life even consider the idea of making him the Chancellor, the second-highest position in the German government. But Hindenburg was old, disorder ruled the day. Democracy had never held a high place in the hearts of the German people, who grumbled about jobs and the trains running on time. Hitler used this to overthrow the social order entirely.

Hindenburg died not long after changing his mind, and when he did Hitler acted with a ruthlessness history has not often seen, purging the members of his own Party as well as other internal enemies in the Night of the Long Knives and setting himself up as Fuhrer, Supreme Leader of the German People. In just over a year and a half the Republic was no more.

In the process, Hitler laid out a set of blueprints that every dictator in the world has studied since. How to destabilize, terrorize, and coerce a country’s people into going along with things that should have been unthinkable. The Holocaust is the term for the slaughter of six million Jews. No one in history before had ever thought to wipe out an entire race of people. But now they have, and it’s on the mind of all these mass-murdering swine here in America, who are using the same propaganda tricks and lies to raise support and enthusiasm for a similar race war on North American soil.

Conventional wisdom since the war ended has said that it could never happen again. People know what the costs could be, whereas in the past they did not. Besides which, this is America. Land of the free and the home of the brave. No way would people ever be so cowardly here as to think they had to pick up weapons and set out to slaughter their neighbors. The Stanford Prison Experiments? Stanley Milgram’s Obedience to Authority studies? Ah, only eggheads know about that stuff, what a bunch of weirdos.

Look where we are now. So much for conventional wisdom.

The Southern Poverty Law Center ran an article this afternoon with the headline in it, “White Nationalists Praise El Paso Attack and Mock the Dead.”

The Washington Post ran an article entitled ‘Shoot them!’: Trump laughs off a supporter’s demand for violence against migrants.”

policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics this week warned of racism’s devastating effects on children. It showed another study proving the stress of Trump’s rise to power caused more high schoolers to start doing drugs that year. Conventional wisdom is not doing America any good. It’s time to change our conventions.

The El Paso massacre began just as the fatal attacks earlier this year at mosques in New Zealand and a San Diego-area synagogue did. A racist manifesto and an announcement on the anonymous message board 8chan, one of the Web’s most venomous refuges for extremist hate. It’s as clear as anything ever has been in the history of all mankind this place is a terrorist recruiter’s dream come true. Our reasons for not treating it like one? The cops don’t want to.

This is because a sickening degree of white nationalist activity has taken root in our law enforcement agencies. The FBI has been warning us about this since the 1970s; a memo was put out on it as recently as 2006. Why has nothing been done? Nazism has a deep taproot in America because we took so many of them in after the Second World War finally ended.

There is a direct correlation between then and now, and that is what this article is saying.

This can all be viewed as having taken place on a timeline. After Germany lost World War Two, American democracy was up against a group of thugs and criminals who had murdered even more people than the Nazis had, the Soviet Union, of which Russia was the central state (So clearly, we get it, but still).

To compete with Soviet intelligence services, the CIA under Allen Dulles took in thousands of Nazis, who became influential at the highest levels of the government. President John F. Kennedy fired Dulles after the Bay of Pigs invasion became a fiasco. Soon Kennedy was assassinated, then his assassin Lee Harvey Oswald was assassinated, and then a whole lot of other people ended up dead.

Does it not bother anyone, after all this time, that all of Lee Harvey Oswald’s friends were Nazis? One man, George von Mohrenschildt, wrote a letter in 1976-a year before he died, also under suspicious circumstances- to George H.W. Bush, then the CIA director under Gerald Ford. He was also the uncle of H.W.’s prep school roommate. See what I mean? Two generations of Bushes became president behind the one who actually helped to finance Hitler’s rise to power, W. Prescott Bush. It’s crazy.

On the way to that period of time, we got to take a trip through the wonders of Watergate and the Richard Nixon presidency. We went all over this during Robert Mueller’s Russiagate investigation, which had a sad end. Mueller went before Congress and said that Trump knew the Russians hacked our election, welcomed their help, and expected to benefit from it. Total disregard of morality in the pursuit of power is the key at the heart of fascism.

The kinds of things that were done by Nixon’s thugs from the Committee to Re-Elect the President (CREEP) were no different, and many of the same characters were involved, e.g. Roger Stone. All were from the Nazi playbook. Agent provocateurs, break-ins, blackmail, the political dirty trick campaigns known by Karl Rove’s old mentor, Donald Segretti, as “ratf*cking, as in, f*cking a DemocRAT.

G. Gordon Liddy, the guy who actually executed the break-in, was a neo-Nazi himself. The case study of this one guy will spin your head about what’s going on with the Nazis in our government, who have almost always made their home in the Republican Party.

I read his biography, WILL. He admits openly his inspiration for the title was the famous 1934 Leni Riefenstahl film that became hugely influential as a propaganda film for Hitler and the Nazis, Triumph des Willens, or The Triumph of the Will. Apparently, his mother used to sing it to him as a child. He also boasted of having walked naked down the tier in the Washington, D.C. country jail while singing the Horst Wessel song, Raise High the Flag, which made a national martyr out of a Nazi pimp. Yet for all that he was a tough guy and supposedly trusted by Nixon, he was beaten like an animal by two men who got right out of jail again, shortly before announcing he would never, ever testify. He didn’t mention that part.

It goes on and on. Operation Bluebird and MK-Ultra were mind control experiments done with the hope in the mind of creating super-soldiers known as Manchurian candidates. We can’t even rule out that the CIA may have actually invented crack cocaine to fund Nicaraguan armies of contras.

How do you shoot yourself twice in the head with a shotgun? I don’t know, but Gary Webb does. He was the investigative journalist who broke the story. Supposedly that’s how he took his own life.

As for Trump himself, his connections to white nationalism run bone-deep. His father was arrested at a Ku Klux Klan rally in 1927. Notorious political hamstringer Roger Stone has said of Fred Trump that he was a member of the John Birch Society, which was founded by Fred Koch, father of the infamous Koch Brothers who built a near-billion dollar political machine in this country according to researcher Jane Mayer. He was an oilman who built refineries for the Nazis. Trump was raised at a time in New York when “conservatism was on the cutting edge”, according to conservative historian Rick Perlstein. This stuff was “in”.

Obviously in the mind of this president, it still is.

We don’t have all the answers as to what is going on in this country. It remains to be seen if there is anyone alive who does. Only one thing is beyond doubt. Things have to change. America has become a powder keg, and Donald Trump’s rhetoric looks more like a fuse every day.

Crash and Bern- Sanders’s Socialistic Rant Fails To Convince America.

Bernie's Brand of Socialism Rejected By American Voters.

Bernie Sanders, the self-professed “Democratic” socialist, has become the one Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race who’d be unacceptable to nearly every Democrat, according to a recent set of polls. When asked, “Are there any presidential candidates that you would be disappointed if they became the Democratic nominee?”, 21 percent of those polled responded Sanders. That same poll has him losing now not only to Joe Biden but Elizabeth Warren too.

Apparently, Bernie Bros aren’t representative of the country’s views, even though they can shout so loud behind keyboards.

Who would have ever guessed?

Back in 2016, nobody knew Bernie well enough to say for certain what is now an inexorable fact, namely, that the man is truly unthinkable in the context of the United States president. Nearly thirty years in the Senate has yielded little more than two renamed post offices.

Thank the Lord God above, thought I, upon seeing these polls. At least people have finally woken up about one of the many vile former residents of the neo-Pandora’s Box that is the Trump era. Seeing Bern crash, the one man without whom none of this could have been possible has been the one really good thing on our entire political spectrum. Everything else is just tragedy and chaos, the whole miserable world is on the brink, it’s far from only here. In France, Marine Le Pen is leading Macron in the polls. This is a complete disgrace.

It’s been a long couple of years and no mistake. There’s not a single person in my life doing any kind of well in the slightest way. More than one of these, I am exceedingly sorry to say- like, really, sorry in the absolute extreme- are people I went to school with that bought into Bernie or Bust. They haven’t learned, either. One girl I know who voted Stein in the end just got fired from the Dollar Tree. Prettiest girl in the school, back in the day. God, how depressing.

I remember how hard I tried three years ago to tell people how it would be. Every front will be one on which we’re going to get assaulted, every day will be a fresh indignity, every right we have will be up for libertarian grabs, and every person in the country will soon be broke. They just didn’t care. You couldn’t speak to them. And when they were done, they did all they could to just blend right back in among the real anti-Trump Resistance.

Now, look at us.

Being right is one lousy consolation prize, but it is what it is. How do you like Bust, Bernie fans? Bust is here! We are living and wallowing in Bust, like pigs in slop! Are you really still naive enough to think Bernie Sanders can fix it? He hardly makes sense when he talks! This whole thing would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. “Curse God and die,” said the wife of Job, who refused.

It’s clear to me Job must have been a Democrat.

They’re saying the 2020 recession‘s going to come next year, but it really seems to me it’s here already. The stock market is showing signs of crashing. Gas prices are up by a dollar a gallon. Productivity is not terrible but the people never see it. The economists can run around with all the fancy words like “macroeconomics” they can find, but they can’t make it so people aren’t broke. When they say the economy is good, they just mean that most people have jobs. This standard terminology ignores the question of how much those jobs pay, or which classes of society reap the gains.

But you won’t find that out by watching Fox News.

Wages are rising too slowly compared to the cost of living, which means the monopolists and not the workers are to capture the gains from productivity growth. Lower productivity also means less wealth available for the government to redistribute.

In other words, economists and commentators are calling the economy “great” because that’s what they’re used to doing. They just mean that most people have jobs. In fact, it’s a very real problem faced by people in America today, a serious problem that requires a serious solution.

How in the heck is it possible for anyone to conclude the shambling wreck we saw blathering about Franklin Roosevelt on TV Wednesday night is the man to handle it?

The point of having a State of any kind is to protect and administer well the resources possessed by the nation. Bernie doesn’t understand this, which is why his whole speech was so depressing to watch. Some of his ideas are similar to ours, some are blatant thefts, all are ill-explained and murkily conceived of. It’s just a disgrace.

Readers of this blog will not generally need reminders about why we all came together. A new entity arose online in 2016, on Facebook and elsewhere, one financed by a hostile foreign power and infiltrated by extremists from the left and right alike. Robert Mueller’s report stated clearly that the Sanders campaign was “central” to the Russian plot. We were woefully behind and unprepared compared to the opposition. Now we’re not, and that’s the one thing we’ve got going for us.

We’ve spent a lot of time since then vetting Bernie, and helping people to understand how insincere and ugly his whole crusade really was. People are listening, too. Bernie is now not only behind Joe Biden in the polls, either. Sincere progressives, serious ones, have begun to coalesce behind Elizabeth Warren, which is fine. Will they end up winning some liberals over to their plans?

If they make sense, of course, they will!

Traditionally, we’ve taken the side of the moderates when writing of Democratic politics. But progressive ideas are a big part of our time-honored Warren was not an enemy back in 2016. She did not fall for the “Run Warren Run” scam the year before, an attempt on the part of Bern’s eventual financers to hamstring Hillary Clinton using another female candidate- they chose Bernie instead! He wasn’t even their first choice. Warren was, and if it ends up being her in the end, she can sure count on my wholehearted support against Trump.

Why? Among many other reasons, I believe she’d do a better job handling economy and infrastructure. So would Joe Biden, obviously. Kamala Harris is a Senator, Pete Buttigieg speaks seven languages, and so on. These are people who could perform the tasks this country needs better than Donald Trump could. All of them are acceptable.

On the other hand, look at Bernie. Just look at him! That blue clown suit! “To me, democratic socialism means democracy, basically,” he said once, hilariously enough. He has got to know what he’s doing, by conflating our system constantly with one of left-wing dictatorship, but what of it? Taking a dump on the lawn is what he does.

The other night’s speech was all about hearing Bernie out while he finally finished giving a coherent definition of the “democratic” socialism he’s been telling us about for all these years.

His supporters do not know what socialism is, and their habit of using the term imprecisely has caused a tremendous confusion on the topic, and everyone has been very excited to hear what he was going to say to clarify.

Those who were expecting something new was to be disappointed entirely. It was the same tired stump speech from one rally after another back then.

We’ve covered this before, on this blog, but thanks to the good old Bern, here we go again.

Socialism and social democracy are just not the same things at all, period. They’re not even kind of the same. They’re really not even alike, except for the letters their names share. The whole misunderstanding is just a mess that Bernie made. It’s a deliberate and destructive confusion in terms. Nothing more.

The difference between social democracy and “democratic” socialism is what its advocates want to do to harness capitalism, e.g. the power source known as the free market.

One of these recommends upkeeping and protecting it, the other wants to light it all on fire.

Antifa protesters, getting stupid.
Antifa protesters, getting stupid.

The former advocates a tempering of capitalism’s harshness with a social safety net. The latter consider it broken already and intends to make sure it’s broke some more. Darn broke, in fact. Wielding the hammer is Bernie’s plan.

Geez.

The progressive section of the community has two halves, like any other. There’s the rational and serious half, and there’s the Bernie or Busters.

The former knows that social democracy is the term in Europe used to describe adherents of a governmental system designed to augment and improve market-based, democratic societies using techniques derived from socialist theories, e.g the social safety net that gives American citizens the right to basic health care.

The latter want to pretend its whole deal means making the United States just like Norway and Sweden, but those are capitalist countries that protect the free market and recognize its importance. They are free people, like Americans who lived before the Trump era (according to the World Freedom Index, we haven’t been a full democracy since Trump took office), and they have stated over and over again that Bernie is wrong and that they resent his “socialist slurs”.

Left-wing socialist countries like Venezuela, the Soviet Union, and North Korea use the markets as well, but they treat their citizens like captives and place bureaucrats in the places of businessmen. They create captive markets that monopoly capitalists can exploit. Capitalism per se is not the problem. It’s just a power source. The problem is the cancerous appendix it’s developed, the branch we call monopoly capitalism.

It isn’t like the left never has any good ideas or makes any good observations, and this excellent term is one of them. It was Vladimir Lenin, founder of the Soviet Union, who first argued that laissez-faire capitalism had mutated into monopoly capitalism after World War One, and that the free market was now an illusion. Our answer is that this goes too far, the free market does exist, and the limits of human power often manifest in our inability to control it. But it certainly has gotten sick. We’ve been seeing this more and more in the last few decades.

So make no mistake- Bernie Sanders is one hundred percent right to be talking about economic inequality in the United States. It’s a HUGE problem, and we will figure something out about it. The first step is to know just what we’re dealing with. In that aspect, Bernie is in some ways a bigger hindrance than Trump himself. Confusion swirls after every word he says.

Sanders has made a contribution to humanity by getting people worried about this. It’s just that in refusing to talk about the role the left wing has played in the degenerating of our global order, he is deliberately blinding himself and his people to a critical half of how the whole thing has come to work. Left-wing and right-wing aren’t that important to guys like Putin and the Koch Brothers. They will finance any ideology if it helps them achieve their goals of world domination; a critical component of fascism. The threat is two-pronged, and one head is not less dangerous than the other, big talk from one about helping the “masses” notwithstanding.

The socialist powerbrokers, like Raul Castro or Nicolas Maduro, eat like kings themselves off the deals they do with the capitalists they despise. Left-wing dictatorship is no less loathsome than right-wing dictatorship, and all dictatorships today are totalitarian, meaning Stalin and not the Tsar, for example. But Sanders didn’t talk about them.

We’re in trouble here.

It certainly is true that right-wing type dictatorships are badly on the rise. Sanders was right to bring up Hungary’s Viktor Orban, for example. That’s the guy who came up with the model they all want to use, to get rid of democracy using democratic means. It was disgusting when Trump invited him to speak over here last month.

But why not Nicolas Maduro? Wouldn’t the Venezuelan example have been worth mentioning, as a way for the Bern to establish himself as a thoughtful, generous-minded future crafter of American policy? Would that not have been a good time for a concession statement? The display he made the other night was disgracefully unserious. My English 1A teacher would have failed him. The rubric we use would have done him like a chainsaw.

Sanders didn’t want to talk about Maduro because he calls himself a “democratic” socialist, which suits his agenda. That is unforgivably misleading and deceptive. Bernie owed it to the people to show us he understands that dictatorship of any flavor is equally horrible and wrong. In the timeless accusation of the Big Lebowski, he completely failed to achieve. Sure, Jair Bolsonaro’s presidential victory in Brazil was and is troubling in the utmost. But Venezuela also is collapsing! The crisis on the southern border is largely due to the failure of socialism!

The Trump administration can and should be justly reviled for the methods they have used to deal with the problem, as locking little children in dog cages cannot be considered right no matter what the circumstances are, but they didn’t cause it. This willingness to ignore the other side of the problem was the primary fallacy of his blind-in-one-eye argument, as presented on CNN the other night. It has been all along.

Going forward, look for Bernie’s name recognition and past enthusiasm to fade in comparison to the plans and viable paths to solutions offered by other candidates.

You can’t even squeeze blood from a turnip, let alone a viable political theory we can build a working system from. St. Bernard is not Karl Marx.

If we ever need a President of Post Office Renamers, Bern, we’ll give you a call.

A Democratic Code- Protocols for Engagement.

#BlueWave2020!

Good evening to all from Millennial Democrats! Our name means a lot to us, because we spend a lot of time working out what it means to be a Democrat- and how to be of optimum use to the country and party alike. The two are completely inseparable at this point. Democrats retook the House. That means that things will be okay. We endured.

Still, although morale coming off of the Blue Wave is at an all-time high, we must capitalize. That means we must resist the urge to get complacent. We’re in a lull period, a sort of ceasefire, which means its time to shore up foxholes and stockpile and drill. We have to prepare ourselves for the real task- getting rid of Trump once and for all.

It is therefore just the time to tackle some questions as to what a Democratic Code might look like.

How do we reconcile the need for reasonable strictures with the hallowed principles of big-tent coalition?

How do we handle inter-organizational pressures?

How do we keep sane when we’re down in the trenches with each other for years at a time?

These questions have come up again and again, and have created a necessity for a flexible and logical framework of guidelines that everyone can live with and abide by.

This is not as hard as it may seem on the surface! We are Democrats. We come together from across all boundaries and we sometimes work with people who in many ways are quite different from ourselves.

It is absolutely paramount that we come to realize this as our single greatest asset.

Far from being a weakness, the heated and ideologically driven Democratic debates about policy and progress we have allow us the trials by fire we need to become very strong. We are like a lightsaber, dispelling the gloom and corrupt cobwebs that are the right wing’s lies. We have a core that is decent and sensible and growing. People will see our light and want to be part of it. We have only now to give them a good home and be prepared to accept their voices as equals. They’re part of the family already. In short, we can do this. We just have to lay down a foundation.

In keeping with that line of thought, we recommend the following proposals.

1.  There must be universal will to abide by the few basic ground rules laid out when representing an organization.

2. Of paramount importance is our ability to disagree. We must come to fully realize that debate and a fight aren’t the same. Respect your colleagues, and treat them gently. Many of us Resistors are having a very hard time in life, especially under the fool that is Donald Trump. We must fully understand this and show empathy. Divided we cannot stand up.

In example, the Wampanoag Native tribe which gave us Thanksgiving may very soon be pilfered yet again. We are all we’ve got. This should constantly be on our minds when interacting with others. Patience and compassion must be our guides.

3. Respect the organization and the cause by keeping your tempers in check, especially in any sort of public capacity that could hurt the cause or get you targeted. Swearing and violent language should not be done as the page, if at all.
4. Respect the work of others, don’t take a fellow admin’s post down without thorough group discussion of the subject. Once in a while, people are going to post things outside the ring, but they put the time in on it, and deserve to know why it is being removed. Schedule a time to talk and explain to the person their mistake. This is how we improve both our knowledge and our people skills, and hence grow stronger together as a unit.
5. Respect leadership decisions. They will be made at the end of a long discussion leading to group consensus. When they are, we must subordinate our own feelings and trust in the Democratic process. We are Americans.
6. Respect the need to keep on track with political discussions. As we are all such diverse and brilliant people, clashes of ego and opinion are unavoidable. But they can be streamlined by avoiding controversial side topics that have no bearing on what we’re doing here. That is a major goal going forward.
All of us are aware of our significance; every voice is sorely needed. And I know that I don’t have to request you to be equal to the responsibility and trust I have extended you; you’ve already been doing it for a very long time. As Robert the Bruce said, “You are here! You know enough about honor.”
Demonstrate this in word and deed when speaking as a Resistor.
Please keep in mind just how important you all are to this cause, and treat each other like the vital organs of your body that we are. Care for and protect each other, and never forget:
An enemy and an opponent are not the same thing.

Bombs Sent to Democratic Leaders- Fascism Rising in America.

Fascism is on the rise in the Trump era.

Despicable cowards tried to murder all our greatest Democratic leaders today.

Having typed that sentence, I could finish the article here. Sometimes the facts argue themselves; that sentence and a headline tell you all you need to know about this whole situation, something the whole nation ought to be outraged about.

Pipe bombs were sent to Hillary Clinton in New York and Barack Obama in Washington.

A similar device was sent to philanthropist and lifelong enemy of fascism George Soros, according to the pair of law officers who gave the statement. How rotten, to do a thing like this to that old man, a man who lost his parents to the Holocaust.

Way to pay back a guy for his lifetime of good works by making him the center of a million nutty theories(for example, we do not write for Soros, no matter how many times we are reviled for it) and then sending him a bomb. We are living in a country full of real sickos. That much has become all too clear.

More bombs were sent to CNN, forcing the evacuation of its NYC offices. CNN journalists courageously kept the cameras rolling from the Manhattan sidewalk below.

Bombs were also sent to Eric Holder, former Obama administration Attorney General, former CIA director James Brennan, former DNC chairman and Floridian Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida, and Representative Maxine Waters all received bombs as well. If the guy who did it would not have been such a slob, we’d have lost all our leaders today.

This newest violence is the response to Trump’s big “I’m a (white) nationalist” crap the other day. He’s been doing this all along.

Donald Trump has been inciting his followers to violence for years. He smirked during the debates as he made reference to the Second Amendment, and how “maybe there is something you can do,” a clear incitement to political assassination!

The GOP statement deploring violence is just another sickening deplorable lie. It makes no sense to believe them. The right wing wants us dead. They’ve been out for physical, literal blood for years, at least since Barack Obama’s election.

They will never, ever forgive the people who dared to put a black man in a White House.

Recently the founder of a right-wing gang with a name that does not merit mention came out with a video inciting Trump supporters to violence. “We will kill you,” he says in the video segment, which went viral. Murdering swine.

The first article this blog ever published was called Chaos in Charlottesville, written in response to the sickening lowlife who murdered Heather Heyer, a disgusting footnote to the modern era- like these bombs. Or James T. Hodgkinson, the wingnut Bernie Sanders supporter who shot up the Congress last year.

Here we could care less if you’re wearing a red shirt or a black one. We are against all those who hide behind masks to go smash things up. It’s not the American way to bash brains in on the streets instead of voting. Foreign radicalism has never taken deep root here, which means socialism, communism, and most of all fascism- until now.

Make no mistake. These days, fascism is rearing its head. “We will kill you…”

It is our opinion that people should stop taking the survival of American democracy for granted.

We are not invincible. It can happen here, “it” meaning a fascist takeover. Trump, to all appearances, is actively signaling “it”, and his followers are preparing for it. And they are making progress like no right-wing nationalist has since Adolf Hitler.

We have got to get people to realize that we have got to wake up now, or we could end up flat on our backs for the rest of our lives- or worse.

If Nazi Germany was reborn today on American soil, it would be us all to suffer.

Some as members of unwanted groups, some as political prisoners. Some of us would go to American style Dachau type camps, while others will be forced into silence or shot. They would take all our data off of Facebook and use it to round us up. These things have happened elsewhere. It is time to ask ourselves the question, What if?

The Republicans have been gradually going down this road for more than a hundred years. Why should we assume it’s impossible for them to succeed? The Founding Fathers feared this above all else- the evils of faction, shredding a nation’s fiber.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we’ve been covering all this since the start. We have seen this develop, we have spoken out at every turn. We will be here as long as we can, spreading the word and raising awareness.

This is our country, which we value and love. We will not abandon her.

Take The Blue Wave Pledge And Vote! Resist Nationwide Voter Suppression!

#BlueWave2018! Take the Blue Wave Pledge, and VOTE!

The Donald Trump effect is out in full display lately, eroding democracy for all that it is worth, while boasting about it. Voter suppression and disenfranchisement of black America is at a high.

In Georgia last week, 107,000 were scraped from the voting rolls last week, because of their “failure to vote in past elections”. How transparently undemocratic can you be? It is reminiscent of the days of Black Codes and literary tests. I guess since black folks wised up they had to figure out some new tricks. It is not hard to understand why, since Abrams’s electoral strategy hinges on mobilizing six hundred thousand unregistered black voters. The Republicans, aware of their inability to compete on a level field of play, are desperate to keep them out of the political arena. They know they’ll be out on their hindquarters that very day.

The events in Georgia are representative of the larger picture. Voter suppression is endemic in Michigan as well, not to mention the other swing states. It’s hard to think of a state without it, and blacks are always on the receiving end. Trump himself is doing everything he can to worsen the tendency; last Thursday, at a rally in Montana, he suggested that Democrats were responsible for a caravan of migrants who are heading north from Honduras, because they “figure everybody coming in is going to vote Democrat”(Jelani Cobb, 2018). Incumbent Georgia governor Brian Kemp has been going around saying that Abrams wants to let undocumented people vote in Georgia. That is an outright lie.

The goal here is the suppression of minority votes. It’s an attempt to place a white thumb on the demographic scale(Cobb, 2018). It’s unfair, it’s undemocratic, it’s corrosively racist and reactionary- and it is happening. Please help us to raise awareness all we can before we hit the midterm booths. Check your voter registration status, Millennial and ALL Democrats! Remember, this has all been for nothing if we don’t go vote. See you in the voting lines! #BlueWave2018!

To Taylor Swift, Millennial Democrat: Thank You, With All Our Hearts.

#ThankYouTaylor

On Sunday night, Taylor Swift stunned the world with her ringing endorsement of the Democratic Party. She called Marsha Blackburn(R-TN) to account for not sharing American values, and gave a shout out specifically to Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper of Tennessee.

Within the next 24 hours, more than 65,000 people had registered to vote, just in Tennessee.

It was a beautiful moment. The sense of betrayal Democratic women are feeling over the confirmation of alleged molester of women Brett Kavanaugh to our nation’s Supreme Court is obviously gigantic. It was a disgraceful moment for the world. But out of the aftermath, a movement began rising.

One of the first ones to come out and speak for it was country music legend Taylor Swift.

It was a huge moment, thematic in the extreme. In the year of the Democratic woman, this has happened. God bless this woman. Swift’s silence on the issue of politics has been conspicuous since before the election. Silence has been code for assent this whole time.

Many who would never talk about their support for Trump went out and voted for him. Taylor Swift had not used her power to condemn what was going on around her. That led many to believe she condoned it.

On Sunday night, Taylor blew the dust off that belief.

Taylor Swift’s power to reach out and touch other people is obviously massive, but it’s worth taking a look at just how massive. Her Twitter following alone is 114 million. That is more than Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders all put together. The fact that she has used that kind of power for the cause of helping us Democrats has left this contributor speechless with gratitude.

As Kamari Guthrie, director of communications for Vote.orgtold Buzzfeed on Monday, “Thank God for Taylor Swift.”

So what led to this massive turnaround? It certainly has cost her some backlash. The alt-right is furious. “A Betrayal Beyond Words,” read one headline I saw.

Early reports, given to US Weekly by an anonymous source, told us that the pop star had broken her long silence because “She doesn’t care about haters anymore”, and wanted to use her platform for good. But earlier today, in a lengthy Instagram post, Swift gave us the story.

It was her love for the people that did it. Gender orientation and racism were both given as specific causes that drove her to speak out.

“I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love,” Swift said.

Well said.

In fact, that’s what’s driving a lot of us to speak out, haters or not. All of us Resistors, who have been put through the ugliest times in recent history as the sore winner alt-right trolls have come on threads all across the internet boasting and spouting filth in jubilance over Kavanaugh. Speaking to them is kind of like cleaning up vomit.

Swift is not the first country music star in recent history to break ranks with their conservative base. The Dixie Chicks received a huge backlash in 2003 when their lead singer, Natalie Maines, said they were ashamed that George W. Bush was from Texas just after the Iraq War began. Their base was outraged. They bulldozed their CD’s.

In the eyes of the rest of the world, they were superstars.

Taylor Swift will undoubtedly face all manner of slander and revile for this. It will be misogynistic, and it will be hateful. People will be ugly and unfair and cruel.

And none of it will touch her.

This powerhouse of a woman does not need the approval of a bunch of alt-right crazies! For one thing, she’s a Millennial Democrat. Her number is many. For another, she’s one of the biggest names in music in the world. If you’re going to bulldoze all of her CD’s, you’d better be ready to dig some new landfills. Knock yourselves out.

So anyway, Taylor Swift, thank you. Thank you very much. We really needed your help. Bless your heart on behalf of the entire human race, welcome to the Blue Wave, and know that this will never be forgotten.

Decades of Disgrace With Kavanaugh- Collins Soils Her Legacy.

Alleged rapist Brett Kavanaugh got a big step closer to confirmation today.

It sickens me to even have to write this. Can’t we do better? Is a drunken slob like this really the best that America can offer its highest seats of jurisprudence? What implication does that have for our country?

These questions lack satisfactory answers completely.

Where are we going with this? That is what I’d like to ask Flake and the others this week who allowed that whitewashed FBI investigation to self-delude about a decision of such monumental import.

The FBI didn’t talk to Kavanaugh or his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and the Trump administration refused to even let them discuss Julie Swetnick, the third accuser.

They even ignored the testimony of Kenneth Appold, one of the most respected theological professors in the nation who said he could personally corroborate that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted Deborah Ramirez in high school. That “investigation” was a total sham. It was a sick joke. It reminded me of a dying goldfish I had as a little kid.

Don’t they see? If things keep along the way they are, the progress made in the last one hundred years will be lost. We’ll be right back in the good ol’ boy days, the days of cronyism and graft and corruption.

And then I remember- That’s exactly what they want.

I’m good and disgusted this morning. I keep seeing the twisted up rage in the face of the whiner Kavanaugh, threatening and storming, screaming up the 40-year-old Virgin defense. He looked like a cartoon character of somebody sniveling.

I compare that with the dignity on the face of Christine Blasey Ford, who risked every aspect of her safe and quiet life to get up there on that podium and tell that humiliating story. Who wants to be a victim?

The people who go around spouting that “false accusation, men are the victims” lie always manage to leave that part out. It’s a miserable, embarrassing thing to have someone come along and do unto you. Nobody wants to think of themselves that way.

This was not a person likely to be bought off; if she was, the Republicans would have outbid us anyway. They would have paid anything to jam that guy through. The only hope we had was that some decency would rise up in the hearts of a few of the Republicans, and in one case, it did.

Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted no, and Susan Collins has still yet to declare officially, we’re waiting on that to come through in an hour. But he passed this hurdle, and there’s no mistaking it.

Regarding the lone Democratic yes, that of West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, even if he had voted no, Mike Pence would have broken the tie. It would not have slowed down Kavanaugh’s path to confirmation at all, and it would probably have cost Manchin his bid for reelection. He’s currently beating his primary opponent,

If the opportunity opens for Joe to use his vote to stop Kavanaugh, he will do it, and all true Democrats know this. If it doesn’t, then who cares who he voted for? Usually, only purists from the far left who live in progressive states. Easy for them to say. Red-state pragmatism is necessary. In the end he’s one of us.

We have seen this kind of thing before. It’s all an eerie repeat of 1992, and the Anita Hill hearings on Capitol Hill. Again, it was because the Republicans were trying to force a loathsome sex offender, Clarence Thomas(who has used his power to make one ruling in the last twelve years, shortly after media publicity revealed that he had not bothered to do so in ten years) down our throats and onto the Supreme Court bench.

Going forward, it’s important to remember that cloture is not the same as confirmation. We still have hope of a last minute change of heart, and even if he’s confirmed ultimately, it’s still not the end of the world. It’s just really disgusting. The fight was still worth it. We’re thirty-two days from the election, and this whole ordeal has empowered the Blue Wave beyond anything we have seen so far. 1992 saw Thomas get in, regardless of what he had done to Hill, but it saw a few other things also.

Televised images of a committee, composed exclusively of white males, sharply questioning African-American law professor Anita Hill disturbed many women, and of a sudden, they became galvanized en masse. It became known as the Year of the Woman.

Not long after, on January 3, 1993, for the first time in American history, California became the first state in the nation to be represented in the Senate by two women- Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein, who of course was the one to blow the whistle on Kavanaugh in today’s saga.

History repeats itself constantly, and the events of the 1980’s and 90’s have played an odd role in all this, with the sitcom stars and professional wrestling videos, and all the rest of it. If the past is any indication, the Year of the Democratic Woman, 2018, is going to crash into the Republicans with the force of a nuclear tsunami.

Go ahead and push it through, Republicans. Ruin your names for all of history. That’s what we want you to do. Because when we get back in power, we’re going to dismantle you with this.

Desperate For Disaster, The GOP Holds On To Kavanaugh- Vote Set Friday.

Kavanaugh's Denial.

The saga of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings has ventured from the unsound into the realm of the bizarre.

A Fox News interview the other night saw Kavanaugh trying desperately to regain his momentum, using what a chess player or movie buff might call the 40-year old Virgin Defense. Remained a virgin well into his twenties, according to him.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

It was weird. Real weird. Here’s a guy who is about to be serving in the highest court in the land, the United States Supreme Court, and he’s on TV listing off all the sexual stuff he did as a young man. Creepy. Gross. Nobody cares, dude. T.M.I.

Kavanaugh’s own feelings about his conduct have receded into insignificance at this point. It’s out of his control completely. Trumpism is about to get hit with #metoo head on. This is the year of the Democratic woman; I wouldn’t be on the other side of this for all the money ever made by man.

Trump himself has launched into a full-blown assault on the attackers. That’s what rape culture is, in case anyone reading this has ever wondered. The victims are the ones who end up on trial because the powerful men the attackers resemble can see it happening to them. They think they’re fighting for their right to party.

One person who vehemently took sides with no facts used to be a decent sort of guy, Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from North Carolina. Trump has been chumming him up since the start. Looks like it’s working.

Graham went beyond what is publicly known about the Christine Blasey Ford accusation that Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her as a teenager, saying “everybody named in regard to being there said it didn’t happen.”

Not quite, bud.

Kavanaugh “said it didn’t happen, that much is true. But he also said he was never even in the room, or at the party.

His ex-roommate Mark Judge said otherwise. He was quite clear about Kavanaugh’s having been at the party, and in the room with Dr. Ford. He just denied the events took place within them.

There were another two witnesses also, but they also didn’t go so far as to say, as Graham suggested, that nothing ever happened. Mr. Patrick J. Smyth, and Ms. Leland Ingham Keyser both said they had no recollection of the party that Ford described.

But they didn’t say it never happened.

In fact, Keyser told the Washington Post that she believes Ford. So do Democrats, who understand that bringing an end to rape culture requires that women who come forward with their stories be believed.

That is why former Minnesota Senator Al Franken resigned last year when he was accused by conservative talk show host Leeann Tweeden in a smear operation cooked up by Roger Stone.

All he ever did was to make a tasteless joke, but even so, he was willing to give up his seat in Congress to set an ethical example for the rest of us, and to be a good ally to women. He is missed, and so is his sense of decency, growing thinner by the day in the nation’s fair capital.

On Monday, the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein bomb was dropped. Trump wants to fire him, because, in the words of one headline I read the other day, “The strategy was to try and do something really big,” if it was going to save Kavanaugh.

Trump, in his petty rage and blind arrogance, is threatening to take away the Mueller probe and throw even more disorder into the country if we don’t give him his Kavanaugh.

To this man, the fate and future of the country are just poker chips in his casino- and it went out of business long ago.

Meanwhile, the other Republicans are still clinging to Kavanaugh for all that they are worth. Rush Limbaugh said Republicans can “Kiss the Midterms Goodbye,” if they don’t confirm Kavanaugh. They fear to dampen the enthusiasm of their voters by ditching him before the midterms.

The thought of the harm it might do the country to have a potential pervert in our highest judiciary is not considered at all, so long as he will vote like a crony in the future and put his name on all their lousy schemings. That is their M.O. these days. Ask Roy Moore. Sex offenses and the Senate don’t mix, and the Supreme Court is not a better match.

Understandably, we will fight like a drowning man to save ourselves and our nation from that fate, and this too the Republicans know. That is why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave a shout out to the Resistance in the form of a bitter revile. “Whatever it took– whatever the truth really was- they were going to do whatever they could to stop this…”

You better believe it.

One key Republican holdout, Lisa Murkowski, has already signaled her support for Kavanaugh’s accusers. Senator Susan Collins is said to be wavering also.

To them both, we would like to say this: It is not too late to make the right decision, and to use your power to stop this. Resist party pressure. Vote with your heart. Do what it takes to keep our country great, like it always has been.

Help us to stop this man.

Anonymous Op-Ed- “Senior Trump Official” Goes For Deep Throat 2.0.

Trump's Anonymous Official.

So by now, everyone knows about the anonymous op-ed published by the New York Times by an unnamed White House senior administration official describing inner resistance to Trump and his policies, from deep within the innards of the White House. Days later, it’s still causing plenty of trouble.

Trump wants our Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, to investigate it with the Justice Department- but that might be a little strange, as Sessions is in second place in the battle for frontrunner as to who wrote it.  is that wrote the article.

Mike Pence is first.

Highlights from the piece include the unsurprising news that many consider the president to be “amoral.” Bob Woodward’s recent book on the inner workings of the Trump administration, Fear, makes an identical claim.

The writer of the piece says there’s a few of them, all working against Trump from within, “to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”

It does appear to be the case that nobody working for Trump much enjoys it. John Kelly reportedly said it’s the worst job he’s ever had and opined sadly that “God must be punishing me for something.” There are little kids in dog kennels on the border that might give you an answer to that question, General, but that’s another story.

Bob Corker called the piece “unsurprising“, and said that anyone could have written it. That also seems clear. Op-ed is op-ed, and this whole thing has caused some reflection in the heart of this Millennial Democrats contributor.

I’m not sure I like this whole thing so much. I don’t like how that guy was talking, really. It reminds me of a lot of things I’ve heard Trump complain about, deep state resistance to him and his policies. Republicans believe it has backfired, and pushed Trump into an even more paranoid and conspiracy-minded state.

There are too many sources for it to be a conspiracy, of course, or the Times would never have published it. It just seems awfully convenient for the nutty theories of Trump supporters.

They’re all denying it left and right, but at this moment, Mike Pompeo seems like the guy to me. It’s the way he talks. Boastful, big proclamations. Earlier this year he testified before the Senate. “We’re not soft on Russia! Killed a couple hundred Russians, just last February“- as if dead people is what we want instead of fair elections.

That’s just like now. Way to feed the conspiracy theory machine, buddy.

At any rate, people in Washington, DC are actually betting on this, and there are theories floating around about identifying the guy based on his language.

There’s been some talk about the word “lodestar” as making this a shoo-in for Pence, but I doubt it. I’m guessing they have all picked up each other’s verbiage by this point, that tends to happen with people you’re around with a whole lot, especially when you all are pretty much in a bubble compared to the rest of the world.

I know that from the 2016 elections.

It seems like the guy who wrote that article was trying to reassure himself more than he was trying to reassure us, the ostensible purpose of the article. It’s obvious that he’s going through some changes about it, but what are you going to do?

To whoever it was who wrote that article, we would like to say this to you: You work for the Trump administration, dude. You’re not coming out of this a hero.

You should not have taken the job, to begin with. You should have pitched in with the real Resistance, the one you mocked in your paean to self-apology, to help stop the man in the first place. Ask yourself what you did to ensure the victory of Hillary Clinton in 2016. That’s the only thing that really matters.

We may not know who wrote this yet, but even amidst all this confusion, one thing is crystal clear. From the tone of the article, you can clearly hear that they’re feeling the pressure worse than we are. That is the big takeaway here, and its true significance in regards to the election.

If even “senior Trump administration officials” are wavering so badly, then now is the time for us to reach out and link hands with the Never Trump conservatives, not to mention everybody else who’s on the fence. People are waking up.

They will be more open to the raising of awareness in the aftermath of all this than they ever have been before, and our message for all of them is this: It’s not too late. You cannot change the past, but you can still help avert the disaster looming before us in the future. We will gladly work with you to Make the United States America again.

Making Tyranny Great Again-Trump Spends Week Assaulting Democracy.

Trump is a threat to our democracy.

Ever since the first few weeks that Trump took office, in which he created worldwide pandemonium by announcing via Twitter that citizens of seven countries were banned from traveling into the United States, America has seen itself disgraced by the conduct of its 45th president time and again.

Things have reached the point where it’s becoming normal. The bar of expectations set by our citizens for our leaders is having to be lowered by the day, and that is very dangerous to our democracy.

Most recently, it’s been his decision to start stripping people who criticize him of their security clearances, starting with former CIA director James Brennan.

Axios recently tweeted that Trump has become enamored with the unchecked powers of the presidency. “What he enjoys most about this job is finding things he has absolute power over,” said one source who’s worked closely with Trump.

Sources recently told Mike Allen that Trump  “got a kick out of pardons, that he could pardon anybody he wants and people would come to him to court him and beg him.”

60 former CIA officials have signed a letter responding to the removal of Brennan’s security clearance, pointing out that “The country will be weakened if there is a political litmus test applied before seasoned experts are allowed to share their views.”

Of course it will, but that is not what Trump cares about.

Trump’s attack on John Brennan is meant to distract us from his crimes, starting with the fact that he and his crew are almost certain to be proved guilty of agreeing to conspire with a shady Kremlin plot to help Trump win the 2016 presidential election.

Even at this minute, he is aiding and abetting Putin’s attack on the election by denying it was happening. He’s still doing it.

Meanwhile, his old campaign manager Paul Manafort’s trial drags on, because the jury is still deliberating. Why? There is enough evidence against that guy to throw him in the can for a million years.

The jurors must be at least as aware of it as we are, which is what makes it fishy that they’re still in there arguing with each other about it. T.S. Ellis, the judge, who has been threatened himself, says they’re scared. Who can blame them?

All the while, Trump is talking about how sad it is that a guy who stabbed America like Manafort did is on trial at all.

Not very democratic of him, but that’s the kind of guy he is.

The bottom line is that democracy is an impediment to Donald Trump. He does not find it useful, so he holds it in contempt. To him, the natural order of things involves debauched old white guys on top of every power structure, shouting orders and bossing everybody around.

Democracy has been in the process of rejecting this worldview for more than a hundred years. So why respect it? It’s an albatross around his neck.

If he can manage to whip up a sort of spit-polished authoritarianism, some form of rule that would retain a veneer of democracy while skewing the contest to ensure its result, that would be ideal for Trump, and also for his right-wing nationalist buddies all throughout the world.
Trump wants Erik Prince to build him his own private army. he was talking about building him a private spy network a few months ago. They want to privatize the war in Afghanistan.
He’s been talking up his dictator buddies, like Putin and Kim and Maduro, right from the start. As long ago as 1989, he was making public statements deploring the “lack of control” the Soviet Union had over its people. He wants to do whatever he wants to do, and he can’t  completely disregard the rights of others because he lives in a democracy.
How then to get rid of it?
In the clouded and foggy mind of Trump, these notions are not well conceived. They are murky impressions at best, addled further by the dementia Omarosa says he’s got. But other authoritarian leaders, like Putin, understand them very well and would like nothing better than to see them take place here.
America is the center of the current, liberal world order that has given us everything since the conclusion of World War Two, a struggle over these same ideas that nearly finished us. In order for that to change, America must abandon its values. That is why Trump, a man who values nothing he can’t stain his T-shirt with, was so favorable a candidate for other despots to support.
Going forward, we have got to come together strongly to affirm that we will not give up our values for anyone or anything. That is what the Resistance is for. Preservation of all we have in America depends on our success.
