Trump Lies On Border as #TrumpShutdown Weakens America For Third Week.

#TrumpShutdown begins its third week, and America is hurting.

On the cusp of the twentieth day of what has now become immortalized as the #TrumpShutdown, Trump himself headed to the border to disgracefully lie to America and did so. Other than that, there is not a whole lot going on. How could there be? Everything is closed down, and as one walks around as an observer, there is a very real sense of being in the eye of the tornado.

Even West Virginian senator Lindsey Graham, a guy who has become progressively worthless as the Trump circus atmosphere corrupts him, came up with a plan to try and end the shutdown. Trump shot holes in it. He told Senate Republicans that he believes he is winning the fight”, leaving Graham shaking his head in despair, saying he has “Never been more depressed“.

On that point, at least, we are agreed.

On Friday millions of people will not get paychecks; things like food stamp benefits are only guaranteed through February. One man was on CNN the other night sobbing because he was so afraid he’s going to lose his house. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked the illegitimate president frankly why he doesn’t stop hurting people. His answer was right out of the spoiled child brat Trump playbook.

Because then you won’t give me what I want.

There’s no need really to point out how disgusted a sane human is bound to be at the sound of that, it speaks for itself loud and clear. Trump is calling it a humanitarian crisis, which it is. But the only one causing it is he himself, and he will not stop. That is something in between blackmail and terrorism.

Moving on the subject of terrorism, the Pentagon- who, earlier in the week, was actually reduced to having to go to Fox News and beg for their help in getting the moron in the Oval Office to listen to them regarding Afghanistan- has warned that it is concerned about the risk of a terrorist attack striking home in these conditions.

However, our guess is that they’re not going to feel like they need to do much at all. The worst thing they could do to hurt America right now is to simply leave us alone.

Another 9/11 would unify us. The way things are going we may collapse under our own weight, which is not completely a jab at Trump’s obesity. The most effective punch is the one you don’t have to throw, at the end of the day, but to an extent, this is wishful, hopeful thinking. We are exposed, of course. We have not been opened up like this to an attack since 9/11 happened.

It’s unreal how quickly we forget. Not even twenty years ago, terrorists smuggled boxcutters through airport security and took down the Twin Towers. Osama bin Laden believed that would be the end. Not all at once, of course, not that day. His belief was that once we had been hit that hard, we would not be able to take it. Our policies and justice would become undemocratic, and the idea of America freedom we espoused and intended to bring to the rest of the planet would be soiled irrevocably, a discarded relic like Soviet socialism.

I think a lot of people are waking up to what a bad situation we are in. And when you end up in a bad enough situation, one that makes you scared enough to forget about your pride or wants or ideas, you start to look around at how you got there.
Putin’s developing hypersonic nuclear missiles now. He could wipe us right out with them and there’s nothing we can do. We don’t have them. China and Russia both are winning that arms race viz. the US. From what we can tell, the only reason he doesn’t up and do it is for the same reason as the terrorists- because the worst thing he can do to us is to sit back and eat popcorn and watch as we self-destruct.
At the end of the day, a day in which no one went to work and time to reflect has been forced upon us, one question keeps ringing in American minds- How did it come to this?
Why is that big orange disgrace stumbling around on our border, looking dumb and talking dumber? How did he get the power?
There are three simple words that say it all.
#BernieOrBust! We pray with all our hearts they have managed to learn from their mistakes, and we think there’s a good chance of it. They might have been watching the news.

From the eye of a tornado, you can see the sky, but you can’t see what’s going on around you. There’s no way of knowing how severe the devastation is, and the reality of the situation is that there’s not much use in worrying about it. You batten down the hatches, you keep yourself in the cellar, and you hope and pray for the best with all your heart.

Along with the neverending task of raising awareness, that is what we must do now.

Do Not Despair, America- Our Last Words From Senator John McCain.

R.I.P. Senator John McCain- a good and decent man.

America lost one of its very best recently, in the passing of John McCain. We lost a man with convictions, a man of courage.

A man who sat for nearly six years in a North Vietnamese P.O.W. camp, shot down in his Skyhawk and taken prisoner by the Vietnamese with four fractured limbs and yet still had the inner resources to come back from that so spectacularly that he was an elected American official within the next eleven months. We lost a man who voted with his conscience, instead of his unconscionable party. He will be sorely missed.

McCain was perhaps the last of a dying breed, a Republican with principles and decency. They called him the maverick, which pretty much meant that he cared about America. He was one of Trump’s most outspoken critics all the while that this was going on. At Millennial Democrats, we have looked at him as an ally. He was not among our number, but he was fighting for a lot of the same things.

He sure was worth about fifty billion of the malignant narcissist in the White House now.

McCain asked Presidents Barack Obama and George. W. Bush to deliver eulogies at his funeral, while Trump will stay away. He’s spent the whole event grousing about how McCain’s funeral coverage in the media is “over the top“, and wouldn’t even lower the flags to half-mast until the Pentagon got ahold of him ringing his bell.

He was probably thinking about his ratings, as if the death of one of the best Americans who ever lived would have come in second best, compared to the Apprentice.

Trump sent a cursory tweet on Saturday -“My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!” but mostly he just pulled childish garbage and turned the whole thing into a commentary about him.

He did not spare one word for the man himself. What a worthless piece of trash.

I try and leave these types of observations to myself, at the very least for decorum’s sake, but sometimes there’s just nothing else to say. Our president is worthless. Worse than worthless. He is actively corrosive. We would be better off pulling presidents at random as if it were jury duty, than we are with this thief who stole our 2016 election. It just kills me some days.

Good thing there’s a nice strong Blue Wave coming along to smash this debauchery of a man right into the ocean, and scour the White House clean again. On November 6th, when we Democrats retake at least the House of Representatives, we will have you in mind, Senator.

Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here,” the Republican senator and former GOP presidential nominee wrote in a letter read by advisor Rick Davis on Monday.

“Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history. Farewell fellow Americans, God bless you, and God bless America.”

God bless you as well, sir. Thank you for all you did for us.

Atrocity on the Border- Pentagon To Host 20,000 More Kids.

The agony continues for warehoused immigrant children.

The horrific saga of the biggest human rights crisis in recent American history has continued to play out all week, causing a tremendous dissonance and moral rupture in the country.

Public discovery of the Trump administration’s mass warehousing of immigrant children on the border has thrown a bomb into the consciousness of America. Pandemonium reigns from shore to shore.

The people responsible, however, do not seem to mind.

They certainly don’t seem to feel the least bit bad about it. Let alone accepting their own accountability, they are not even ready to admit they’ve done anything wrong. In fact, they’re just getting started. And they are about to double down.

Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services has now commanded the Pentagon to make preparations to house as many as 20,000 unaccompanied migrant children on American military bases, a United States official said.

In simpler language, that means plans to create new detention camps are being drawn. This isn’t getting better.

Jeff Sessions defiantly doubled down against the advice of his own pastor and personal congregation, saying that this will not end until Trump gets his wall.

He sanctimoniously quoted the Bible passage used by slaveholders back before the Civil War to justify their monstrous practice of treating their fellow humans as cattle.

Nikki Haley reviled the U.N. Human Rights Council without ceasing, decrying it as a “cesspool of political bias.”

If it’s a cesspool, Nikki, you and your lot ought to be very happy there. It’s where you belong, but the real cesspool, of course, is the warehouse they’ve been housing these kids in.

The confusion and humanitarian concerns unleashed by Trump’s policy cannot be adequately explained with language. These people have built a hell on earth for little children and are calling it a nursery school.

“We have high standards,” Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said, with no sense of her own absurdity. “We give them meals and we give them education and we give them medical care. There are videos, there are TVs.”

Those high standards she’s talking about-There is a piece of audio recorded from inside that godforsaken pit by ProPublica. Children are screaming. Without stopping.

It makes for some of the most horrible sounds of woe any person ever heard. The lamentations of all democracy were in their voices. This is a mark on our national honor that can never be undone.

Meanwhile, news from the border continues rolling in, bringing with it headlines that defy credulity.

“Torn from Immigrant Parents, 8-month-old Baby lands in Michigan”.

“Deputy Accused of Sexually Assaulting Girl, 4, threatening to have mother deported if she spoke up.”

“Immigrant Children Injected With Drugs”.

The latter piece began with the sentence “Trump’s zero-tolerance policy is creating a zombie army of children forcibly injected with medications”.

This is not a movie, nor the National Enquirer, nor some nutty Russian disinformation bot.

They really are using antipsychotics on little tiny kids.

Legal filings show immigrant children in U.S. custody subdued with psychiatric drugs. Hardcore ones, too, like olanzapine and ziprasidone, stuff with really heavy sedating properties and awful side effects.

This is the kind of thing that goes on in the darkest recesses of American prisons, according to the testimonials of writers like Jack Henry Abbott and George Jackson. We do this now to five-year-olds?

The president of the American Academy of Pediatrics told CNN the practice is “nothing less than government-sanctioned child abuse.”

The psychiatric community of America is all but unanimous in their conclusion that the incarcerated children are going to be shellshocked for life. Nadine Burke Harris of the Center for Youth Wellness referred to Trump’s policy as a “recipe for toxic stress.”

Post-traumatic stress is nothing nice. People end up on drugs, they have permanent abandonment issues, they can’t sleep, they get night terrors, etc.

Add to this a whacked-out neurochemistry caused by psychotropic tampering done to the person against their will, in early childhood, and you’ve got a deeply wounded human being. For what?

The crime of being an immigrant’s child, taken across the border by your parents.

This is repugnant far beyond anything else the already disgusting Trump administration has done so far, and although he did sign something meant to end the separation of families, the damage has already been done. These kids will never forget this, no matter what else happens in their life.

Raising awareness has always been our task at Millennial Democrats, but this time is on another level from the others. We’ve got to think of something that will get these kids out of that warehouse.

Thinking along those lines, Democrats nationwide announced that they would not wait for Congress to act. A coalition of 10 states filed a lawsuit aimed at making sure that the Trump administration does not continue to separate children from their parents at the border.

“President Trump yesterday signed an empty and meaningless order that claims to take back policies that he put in place himself as a political stunt,” said Xavier Becerra, the California attorney general, who is a plaintiff in the suit. “Meanwhile, these children, their parents and people around the world need answers regarding what comes next.”

“I still think we’re in a state of national crisis,” New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker told The Associated Press in an interview.

Until we get those answers, this crisis is never going to end.

Cold War Two- The West Is Not Anti-Russia. Just Anti-Putin.

#NeverTrump

Cold War Two is heating up, as the diplomatic conflict between Britain and Vladimir Putin, caused by the murder by poison of ex-double agent Sergei Skripal is reaching a fevered pitch. Moscow’s embassy in London has been urging Russians against traveling to the UK or sending children to school there.

Putin’s orders to the embassy were to tell their citizens that British authorities may single out Russians for various persecutions, citing “the anti-Russian policies and an escalation of the British side’s threatening rhetoric”.

The Russian embassy even urged fans of football team CSKA Moscow flying to London for Thursday’s Europa match with Arsenal to exercise “extra vigilance” because of Britain’s “anti-Russian campaign”.

Britain does not even have an anti- Russia campaign.

It doesn’t even have an official anti-Putin campaign, although it needs one.

Everything everywhere needs to have an anti-Putin campaign. Not anti-Russia. Anti-Putin.

The two are not synonymous. Russia produced Stalin and Putin, it’s true, but it gave us Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Alexei Navalny as well. Russian people are not our foes unless they’re here on Putin’s orders to disrupt and destroy our countries. And even then, they’re just extensions of Putin.

Millennial Democrats would like to extend our sympathy and solidarity with Russia’s people, and with all good people everywhere who are stuck beneath the heel of that tyrant, or any other tyrant.

Putin has continuously kept pushing this matter. He’s not going to just let it go. He’s angry because he’s finally met resistance where there didn’t use to be any.

Next, Putin ordered the summoning of British ambassador Laurie Bristow on Friday. He wanted to tell her that London is being given a month to cut the number of diplomatic staff in Russia to the same number Russia has in Britain.

The measure came after Russia expelled 23 British diplomats, closed a British consulate in Saint Petersburg and halted the activities of the British Council educational and cultural organization last month.

Bristow was evicted by Putin along with the heads of missions from 23 other countries, almost all of whom are EU member states.

Russia suggested parity. The British side has more than 50 more people,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told AFP.

Parity? Did we come into your lands, and poison anyone you granted asylum, Vladimir? It probably wouldn’t be too hard to get at Julian Assange, the pet rat you keep in that Ecuadorian embassy cage(they just shut off his Internet! LOL!), but we don’t, out of respect for the rule of law.

There’s no parity in Putin expelling a single one of those diplomats. We didn’t do anything to him. We’re not the ones extending tentacles of chaos all throughout the world, encouraging ethnic violence and poisoning people we disagree with. We are also not the ones who keep on with continuous escalation.

The Pentagon’s concern this whole time has been not that Putin is strong, or fearsome, but rather that he’s getting old and sloppy.

They fear that he’s finally deluded himself into thinking he’s rebuilt the Soviet Union- Russia’s economy is a sixth of what the Soviets enjoyed- and will make a gross miscalculation that leads us all into war, as Hitler eventually did.

The way in which Putin is encouraging distrust among his people against any outsiders is also Hitleresque. A tyrant needs to have his country’s population scared and angry so that they will fight like desperate men, if he wants to try and conquer the world by force.

But he had better realize he will never have enough power. You cannot kill the human desire for freedom. And you cannot push us into giving up what we hold sacred. Donald Trump will not be in power forever.

Hitler found this out, too, once upon a time. The Western powers are goodhearted and kind and will give you the benefit of the doubt. But don’t be fool enough to delude yourself into thinking that means you can push us past a certain point. Or sooner or later, you will find two things out the hard way.

First, that the West has a very hard core.

And second, that we do not like being cheated.

Rex Tillerson- Icon of Lesser Evil.

Discord between President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, his chief diplomat, is reportedly at an all-time high. It’s been spilling all over the public view in recent days. It was crowned with a NBC News report released Wednesday that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called Trump a “moron” in a Pentagon meeting.

John Kelly, the White House chief of staff, abruptly scrapped plans to travel with President Donald Trump on Wednesday so he could try to contain his boss’s fury. and manage the fallout, according to six senior administration officials. It’s enough to make a sane man sick, watching these animals and their incompetence drag this venerable American through the mud this way. Forcing a four-star general to manage a kindergarten full of nitwit monstrosities is nothing short of a crime.

Vice President Mike Pence, who was still basking in the glow of being the keynote speaker at the Koch network’s upcoming convention, is basking no longer. This latest chaos is said to have had Pence fuming during his recent travel to Phoenix, seven officials told NBC News. He and Tillerson spoke on the phone before the secretary’s public appearance on Wednesday morning, and one can imagine how that conversation went.

There’s no doubt it is very satisfying to see yet another Trump pick go up in smoke. Bearing witness to the discomfiture of a smug oil tycoon arch-polluter like Tillerson has also been worth the price of admission. However, as tempting as it might be to see Trump’s White House even further on the rocks, it isn’t what’s best for the country.

In this madhouse of a White House, Rex Tillerson is one of the few sane voices left.

Nobody knows where all this is going. That has been true all along. Ever since the sickening theft of the presidency last November, we have seen things get worse and worse. Blood in the streets was predicted last year on election night. That’s exactly what we’ve gotten, at Charlottesville.

It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that Trump didn’t think he had a chance, any more than most of us did. The Trump campaign headquarters were all but silent, the night of the election, right up until he won. The tens of supporters present did their best to kick up a big roar, but there were more cops and drug dogs there than actual people, which will put a damper on just about anything. As the night rolled on, and the districts kept coming back red, they were just as shocked as the rest of us.

Since then, the collective hope of the country has flickered badly. Robert Mueller alone represents our ability to get rid of Trump, there’s a new disaster daily in the news, and we’re stuck in the mud completely in terms of getting anything done. On the contrary, we find ourselves and our value system completely under assault.

Trump chips away at something fundamental every day. Our system has never had to withstand the test of such a concerted and thorough attack on our foundations before. Its unusual potency arises because it is spearheaded by the very man charged with its leadership and upkeep. Today, he managed to scrap part of Obamacare relating to Planned Parenthood, under the grounds of religious freedom.

There’s no doubt at all that a guy like Rex Tillerson being anywhere near a Presidential cabinet  would be a travesty, under normal conditions. It sickens one to look back on the 1989 oil spill of Exxon- Valdez. Tillerson became general manager of the central production division of Exxon USA this same year, and as such, bears personal responsibility for that environmental disaster.

Six years later, he replaced Lee Raymond as the CEO of the company. The reckless and cavalier attitude of the fossil fuel industry is well known. It was a darkly ironic travesty, that someone in charge of the company responsible for the second worst man-made climate disaster was made the overseer of United States diplomacy on climate change.

While all of this is true, and while it certainly makes Rex Tillerson an unpalatable occupant of a presidential Cabinet, he is still part of the bedrock. He’s a solid American, if nothing else. He is also one of the last members of the civilian world to have any voice in the Trump White House, which is well on its way to being another wing of the Pentagon.

We are grateful beyond words for the Pentagon’s role in holding up our country out of the muck this past year, but we can’t stress enough the paramount importance of civilians continuing to govern civilian life. Both are necessary. They provide stability, check, and balance to the other. Every part of our American society helps to achieve a certain balance.

For Tillerson’s part, anyway, he has announced an unequivocal intent to remain at his post. For this reason, Kelly, Tillerson, and their ally Defense Secretary James Mattis had an emergency meeting at the White House to discuss a path forward, according to three administration officials.

However, it is said that Trump was beyond enraged that Tillerson refused to disavow having called him an idiot on TV, which is not surprising. He was telling the world he meant exactly what he said. I’m sure Trump was enraged.

It seems likely that if it were not for the military men who have become Trump’s inner circle, Tillerson would have been gone long ago.

Trump has grown resentful of what he considers Tillerson’s high- handed manner of deciding policy issues. He feels his secretary of state to be overly dismissive at times. Trump is insecure above all else, and a plain-spoken old timer like the Secretary of State is not likely to have much patience for the tender ego of a seventy year old billionaire man-child.  People willing to speak up to this large orange tyrant is what this country needs.

Going forward, it is necessary to realize that until next year when we Democrats take back the Congress- #RiseAndOrganize– there are no good choices, when it comes to Trump’s personnel. Only less bad ones. Rex Tillerson has become the walking embodiment, of the lesser evil.
