Trump goes Bonkers- In Syria and Everywhere Else.

Trump goes Bonkers- In Syria and Everywhere Else.
I have heard from our social media coordinators that Page Likes on Facebook have gone through the roof this week. This must be due to the incredibly intense political interest going on right now. A lot of it is the awesomeness of our Facebook personnel, who undoubtedly are the very best. But I think it also goes to show. Right now, things are at a fever pitch.
These days are made of pure history.
In circumstances where the president and a freshman Representative are trading blows as equals on social media, virtually nothing is unthinkable. This is molecular chaos. I have never seen anything like it. I don’t believe anyone has. There is no way of telling now where it could end. Once again, yet with eyes from which hope has faded, we look to our Republican countrymen for the help we will need to free our country from a tyrant. Because things have gotten worse every day that Donald Trump is running the United States of America. Just look at what’s happening in Syria, where once again, Trump has made a mess.
What else is new.
Recently Trump was tweeting about his “Great and Unmatched Wisdom” as if he were a Chinese emperor. Boasting like a pimp is always repugnant, no matter who is doing it; a gentleman I met last week at a bus stop informed me that “Pimps don’t get respect like that in jail”.
I found that comforting, at least.
Trump also has sent our Kurdish allies in Syria, who held firm with us in our fight against ISIS, tumbling under the wheels of the bus. One official said he caved. I’m sure it was pathetic; it always is. Why not go whole hog, if making ourselves a global joke? We should send Trump himself to the front line, and all the other evil celebrities with him. Harvey Weinstein, R. Kelly, to the front line. And Bill Cosby. And that a-hole Joseph Kony. Why not? Let’s Make An Army of One out of Subway Jared. Fight your record clean, boy.
Before when Trump withdrew us from Syria, many suspected he had cut a deal of some sort. He didn’t end up facing prosecution over what Robert Mueller found, even though Mueller flat out said he would have charged him himself if he wasn’t the President. I predicted at that time that we would see a Trump grown increasingly lawless and frightening. His alt-right leadership has long ago fallen by the wayside in favor of a young and power-hungry lot who have proven themselves willing to do anything.
There is just no knowing where it all could find a place to end.
The people just need to see that there is somebody somewhere who has a plan, and we at Millennial Democrats do, in fact, have a plan. It’s pretty simple, too. We get every sane and decent person we can find and bring them together as one. We can organize, stay calm, and bring everyone we know to the party. If that someone is us, so be it. Because shit is busting loose worse than I’ve ever seen it yet, and the talking heads on television aren’t making any sense to anyone. The people are completely bewildered, and sullen and mean in their bewilderment.
Collectively, we’re like a rattlesnake dumped out of a sack. We are all but blind and yet ready to snap. It’s dangerous. Everyone is saying that we’re living in historical times; who knows what will happen next. It’s like dumping a bag of Ping-Pong balls off a Windy City skyscraper, with a shout out to my people in Chicago, and trying to predict where they’ll all land. Everything is becoming so surreal.
The Chinese have an old curse that goes roughly, May you live in interesting times. I guess Xi must have been bored too because he just amped up his country’s cursed interesting level. Pictures of hundreds of blindfolded prisoners have been smuggled out of there recently.
In other news, Romanian hackers have joined the Chinese and Russians in their assault on the Millennial Democrats blog. Turns out Romania’s president Klaus Iohannis– who is in an election struggle with his country’s Social Democrats (the European equivalent of us American Democrats, and NOT to be confused with the disturbed moronism of Bern and his Democratic Socialism)- was here in late August, meeting with Trump at the White House. I really wonder what these people want to know so bad! Jesus! It’s been multiple times a day for years now. I know; I save all the emails.
Here is the email from Sucuri telling me this guy's IP address. I was startled to find out what would be on the other end! The top IT specialist in all of Romania has been trying to take me down. I'm not sure whether to be amused, flattered, or terrified. I guess there's a bit of all three.

Wow, I thought. Just- wow. He's got an entire university department to run, and still he finds the time to pile attacks on little ol' me.

The other night this Romanian guy named Alin Stefanescu tried to hack me. He hid his location by going through a TOR node, but somehow the good people at whois.com already knew him. This is him.
One of my many teachers-and the hacker trying to ruin me.
One of my many teachers-and the hacker trying to ruin me.
Interesting that I’d be able to find the actual name of the guy!
What really blew me away, though, was who he is. The guy is the head of the computer science department at the University of Bucharest. That is the best college in Romania, a nation world-renowned for the skill of its computer hackers and IT experts in general. I can’t tell you how surreal it is that a guy like that has been sicced on us by God knows who. I didn’t even know who the President was there until the other night.
This guy has an entire department of a university to run, yet still he finds the time to try and contend with me in these lengthy, endless, bruteforce attack and failed login attempts. Knock yourself out, guys, but be forewarned. WordPress is pretty good, it’s not just me you’re fighting. It is all of America, or at least most of us.
Even if someone is as big a fool as Lindsey Graham, who completely blew his hole about “Exposing the Whistleblower” and putting him in front of the Senate to testify, etc., it still proved impossible to turn a blind eye at Trump’s abandoning the principle of American security by leaving the Syrian Kurds out to dry as he has.
Tucker Carlson of Fox News made the opposite complaint. He was unwilling to defend Trump’s phone call with a foreign country’s president, Volodmyr Zelensky of Ukraine, but felt his weaseling and abandoning of allies in Syria was actually good.
Who knows where these people are coming from. Who knows where their hearts are. Hunter S. Thompson, who checked out in early 2005 rather than see what has been coming for a long time come to harvest, wrote in some of his last work,
“Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us—they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. Fuck them.”

We respect Hunter’s legacy and his choice; furthermore, who among us in the Trump era cannot sympathize? Everything sucks!

However, although we may sympathize, we are not going to wallow in despair enough to empathize. We are not at liberty to go that route. Someone has to be here for the people; there have to be voices of reason in the crowd. Stick by each other, folks, and stick by us. If you’re a Democrat, you never need to go into a fight alone.

The Spartan 300 killed twenty-six thousand worthless Persians, weak and puny slaves of a dictator. That’s 87-to-1 odds.

Why? Because they were stronger! They themselves were bound tighter than any slave to code, an iron law made of principle and fearlessness. That’s us, Democrats. If you’re like most of us and have lived for no other reason than bringing this whole nightmare to an end, fighting 16 hours a day, you know what it is to be worth eighty-seven post-truth Trump slobs, addled and made slovenly by Fox News. We will never give up, never surrender, and never relieve the pressure. Not until the end.

“Go, stranger, and at Sparta tell/ That here, by Spartan law, we fell.” -Simonides of Ceos

Trump Lies On Border as #TrumpShutdown Weakens America For Third Week.

#TrumpShutdown begins its third week, and America is hurting.

On the cusp of the twentieth day of what has now become immortalized as the #TrumpShutdown, Trump himself headed to the border to disgracefully lie to America and did so. Other than that, there is not a whole lot going on. How could there be? Everything is closed down, and as one walks around as an observer, there is a very real sense of being in the eye of the tornado.

Even West Virginian senator Lindsey Graham, a guy who has become progressively worthless as the Trump circus atmosphere corrupts him, came up with a plan to try and end the shutdown. Trump shot holes in it. He told Senate Republicans that he believes he is winning the fight”, leaving Graham shaking his head in despair, saying he has “Never been more depressed“.

On that point, at least, we are agreed.

On Friday millions of people will not get paychecks; things like food stamp benefits are only guaranteed through February. One man was on CNN the other night sobbing because he was so afraid he’s going to lose his house. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked the illegitimate president frankly why he doesn’t stop hurting people. His answer was right out of the spoiled child brat Trump playbook.

Because then you won’t give me what I want.

There’s no need really to point out how disgusted a sane human is bound to be at the sound of that, it speaks for itself loud and clear. Trump is calling it a humanitarian crisis, which it is. But the only one causing it is he himself, and he will not stop. That is something in between blackmail and terrorism.

Moving on the subject of terrorism, the Pentagon- who, earlier in the week, was actually reduced to having to go to Fox News and beg for their help in getting the moron in the Oval Office to listen to them regarding Afghanistan- has warned that it is concerned about the risk of a terrorist attack striking home in these conditions.

However, our guess is that they’re not going to feel like they need to do much at all. The worst thing they could do to hurt America right now is to simply leave us alone.

Another 9/11 would unify us. The way things are going we may collapse under our own weight, which is not completely a jab at Trump’s obesity. The most effective punch is the one you don’t have to throw, at the end of the day, but to an extent, this is wishful, hopeful thinking. We are exposed, of course. We have not been opened up like this to an attack since 9/11 happened.

It’s unreal how quickly we forget. Not even twenty years ago, terrorists smuggled boxcutters through airport security and took down the Twin Towers. Osama bin Laden believed that would be the end. Not all at once, of course, not that day. His belief was that once we had been hit that hard, we would not be able to take it. Our policies and justice would become undemocratic, and the idea of America freedom we espoused and intended to bring to the rest of the planet would be soiled irrevocably, a discarded relic like Soviet socialism.

I think a lot of people are waking up to what a bad situation we are in. And when you end up in a bad enough situation, one that makes you scared enough to forget about your pride or wants or ideas, you start to look around at how you got there.
Putin’s developing hypersonic nuclear missiles now. He could wipe us right out with them and there’s nothing we can do. We don’t have them. China and Russia both are winning that arms race viz. the US. From what we can tell, the only reason he doesn’t up and do it is for the same reason as the terrorists- because the worst thing he can do to us is to sit back and eat popcorn and watch as we self-destruct.
At the end of the day, a day in which no one went to work and time to reflect has been forced upon us, one question keeps ringing in American minds- How did it come to this?
Why is that big orange disgrace stumbling around on our border, looking dumb and talking dumber? How did he get the power?
There are three simple words that say it all.
#BernieOrBust! We pray with all our hearts they have managed to learn from their mistakes, and we think there’s a good chance of it. They might have been watching the news.

From the eye of a tornado, you can see the sky, but you can’t see what’s going on around you. There’s no way of knowing how severe the devastation is, and the reality of the situation is that there’s not much use in worrying about it. You batten down the hatches, you keep yourself in the cellar, and you hope and pray for the best with all your heart.

Along with the neverending task of raising awareness, that is what we must do now.

Kavanaugh: The Final Hours- Jeff Flake Forces Delay!

Jeff Flake Forces Delay!

As these words are written, we’re in the last minutes of the fractious but historical confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh, Trump nominee and alleged molester of women.

It saddens and sickens me to see it, but the nomination has been approved. It now heads to the floor.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has not yet voted yes. He may not say it, either. It will cost him nothing to say no; he’s retiring, and he has to know this whole thing isn’t right.

He’s been playing both sides all along, but he’s got one last chance to use his power for something decent. That Kavanaugh guy is a nut. How are we supposed to trust a guy who threatens and yells at Senators?

He has made his consent contingent on a floor vote delay and a one week FBI investigation. However, Flake has been given no such commitment by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Unless he gets them, he is supposed to be voting no.

Yesterday our Joe Manchin took Flake along with Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski into a meeting, a meeting in which I have no doubt whatsoever that he did all he could to convince them to resist the bullying of Lindsey Graham and others. That last guy dared Republican senators not to vote for Kavanaugh.

Or what, Lindsey? You’ll come over to their houses and beat them up? Toss them to the Nazis and watch them be eaten alive? What happened to you, man?

Graham used to seem like a decent guy to me. But not anymore.

Update: Flake has used his conscience and his vote to delay this for a week! Bless his heart!

We’ll be covering this until the bitter end- an end that has not yet come. American democracy has lived to fight another day.

Desperate For Disaster, The GOP Holds On To Kavanaugh- Vote Set Friday.

Kavanaugh's Denial.

The saga of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings has ventured from the unsound into the realm of the bizarre.

A Fox News interview the other night saw Kavanaugh trying desperately to regain his momentum, using what a chess player or movie buff might call the 40-year old Virgin Defense. Remained a virgin well into his twenties, according to him.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

It was weird. Real weird. Here’s a guy who is about to be serving in the highest court in the land, the United States Supreme Court, and he’s on TV listing off all the sexual stuff he did as a young man. Creepy. Gross. Nobody cares, dude. T.M.I.

Kavanaugh’s own feelings about his conduct have receded into insignificance at this point. It’s out of his control completely. Trumpism is about to get hit with #metoo head on. This is the year of the Democratic woman; I wouldn’t be on the other side of this for all the money ever made by man.

Trump himself has launched into a full-blown assault on the attackers. That’s what rape culture is, in case anyone reading this has ever wondered. The victims are the ones who end up on trial because the powerful men the attackers resemble can see it happening to them. They think they’re fighting for their right to party.

One person who vehemently took sides with no facts used to be a decent sort of guy, Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from North Carolina. Trump has been chumming him up since the start. Looks like it’s working.

Graham went beyond what is publicly known about the Christine Blasey Ford accusation that Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her as a teenager, saying “everybody named in regard to being there said it didn’t happen.”

Not quite, bud.

Kavanaugh “said it didn’t happen, that much is true. But he also said he was never even in the room, or at the party.

His ex-roommate Mark Judge said otherwise. He was quite clear about Kavanaugh’s having been at the party, and in the room with Dr. Ford. He just denied the events took place within them.

There were another two witnesses also, but they also didn’t go so far as to say, as Graham suggested, that nothing ever happened. Mr. Patrick J. Smyth, and Ms. Leland Ingham Keyser both said they had no recollection of the party that Ford described.

But they didn’t say it never happened.

In fact, Keyser told the Washington Post that she believes Ford. So do Democrats, who understand that bringing an end to rape culture requires that women who come forward with their stories be believed.

That is why former Minnesota Senator Al Franken resigned last year when he was accused by conservative talk show host Leeann Tweeden in a smear operation cooked up by Roger Stone.

All he ever did was to make a tasteless joke, but even so, he was willing to give up his seat in Congress to set an ethical example for the rest of us, and to be a good ally to women. He is missed, and so is his sense of decency, growing thinner by the day in the nation’s fair capital.

On Monday, the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein bomb was dropped. Trump wants to fire him, because, in the words of one headline I read the other day, “The strategy was to try and do something really big,” if it was going to save Kavanaugh.

Trump, in his petty rage and blind arrogance, is threatening to take away the Mueller probe and throw even more disorder into the country if we don’t give him his Kavanaugh.

To this man, the fate and future of the country are just poker chips in his casino- and it went out of business long ago.

Meanwhile, the other Republicans are still clinging to Kavanaugh for all that they are worth. Rush Limbaugh said Republicans can “Kiss the Midterms Goodbye,” if they don’t confirm Kavanaugh. They fear to dampen the enthusiasm of their voters by ditching him before the midterms.

The thought of the harm it might do the country to have a potential pervert in our highest judiciary is not considered at all, so long as he will vote like a crony in the future and put his name on all their lousy schemings. That is their M.O. these days. Ask Roy Moore. Sex offenses and the Senate don’t mix, and the Supreme Court is not a better match.

Understandably, we will fight like a drowning man to save ourselves and our nation from that fate, and this too the Republicans know. That is why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave a shout out to the Resistance in the form of a bitter revile. “Whatever it took– whatever the truth really was- they were going to do whatever they could to stop this…”

You better believe it.

One key Republican holdout, Lisa Murkowski, has already signaled her support for Kavanaugh’s accusers. Senator Susan Collins is said to be wavering also.

To them both, we would like to say this: It is not too late to make the right decision, and to use your power to stop this. Resist party pressure. Vote with your heart. Do what it takes to keep our country great, like it always has been.

Help us to stop this man.

The Kavanaugh Confirmation- Two Minutes to Midnight.

#StopTheConfirmation

Last week Senator Dianne Feinstein referred information regarding a claim of serious sexual assault committed by Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh’s alleged victim had intended to remain anonymous, but on Sunday morning, she stepped forward. “I was in fear for my life during that encounter,” she said.

On Sunday, psychologist Christine Blasey Ford came forward as the author. Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the allegations- but it’s not really looking very good for him. Years of psychotherapy notes confirm it, and she even went so far as to have a polygraph done on herself.

She passed, too. One wonders if Kavanaugh will have the same amount of guts.

Senate judiciary proceedings relating to the confirmation hearings of Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, got off to a rough start for the Republicans on their first day, and things have not improved for them. Our Democratic leadership has been out there in full effect the whole time.

Rising star Kamala Harris led the first round of protests, making sure Chuck Grassley was unable to continue moving the hearing along until Kavanaugh cut out his weaseling and answered her question. She was great and we are very proud of her.

Senator Patrick Leahy did an op-ed piece for the Washington Post on Thursday, eloquently stating his case for why he will never support Kavanaugh for a seat on our Supreme Court.

He brought to light a number of instances of Kavanaugh’s involvement in old e-mail scandals that predated Hillary Clinton, back when a bunch of them got stolen from Democratic senators during the W. Bush administration, and said he “cast aside truth in pursuit of raw ambition.”

“Unimpeachable integrity must never be optional,” Leahy wrote in a powerfully worded op-ed published by the Washington Post.

Our issue with Kavanaugh not only that he may very well repeal Roe vs. Wade and make abortion illegal again- which would kill many women. It’s also that they’re covering up his background so we can’t see who he is. It’s bad enough when they do that with people who are running for President or Congress. Supreme Court justices serve for life.

It’s obviously important, regardless of the petty attempts on the part of Lindsey Graham and others to label our patriotic instincts as sour grapes.

It certainly is a bad thing that Russia and our domestic radical right got together and broke every law there is to steal the election and leave an illegitimate wreck in the White House, but this has nothing to do with that except to note it as a side effect.

The issue of how powerful the American judiciary is cannot be overstated. Of the three branches of our government, it is by far the strongest. The Supreme Court has the power of judicial review, meaning they have to approve any legislature before it becomes law. They can shoot holes in anything any president or Congress tries to do.

The supreme power in the land is the judiciary, hence the term Supreme Court. We don’t want this guy to have it.

Kavanaugh has done a lot of partisan work in Washington- for the Republicans. He was even in on the cheap trick that was Kenneth Starr’s attempt to take down Bill Clinton. And he’s replacing Anthony Kennedy, who had a special place in the heart of Trump and his pals.

Kennedy’s son was leading a real-estate division of Deutsche Bank at the time it gave Trump over a billion dollars in loans to finance his projects when other banks wouldn’t.

It seems clear that raised eyebrows are not out of place here.

Kavanaugh is yet another old white male conservative who will drag the Supreme Court even further right than it is already. This is already the most conservative Supreme Court in American history. They recently held up one of Trump’s travel bans. Kavanaugh will make it worse. That is why we are fighting this so hard and will continue to do so.

On Thursday California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee released a statement regarding her referral of information regarding Kavanaugh’s nomination to the FBI, who conducts background checks on potential government employees.

Turned out it was a sexual assault allegation. What a surprise. What a pack of jackals like this is doing in our government is beyond me. It’s bad enough we’ve got to share a planet with them.

Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin called for a delay, saying the Judiciary panel should not vote on Kavanaugh “until all the information is before the committee.” Thank heaven some of our leaders have sense.
Even if he gets in, we’re going to keep fighting, and sooner or later we’ll think up a way to figure something out. In the meantime, we’ll just keep raising awareness. Kavanaugh is not to be trusted.

Water from the Rock- Dems Gain Toehold With Shutdown.

Dems win.

Democratic leadership in the Senate has managed to draw water from the rock. The weekend-long filibuster that shut down the government succeeded in extracting concessions on the immigration issue from a hostile majority party and insane White House.

The Senate vote to reopen the government was finally confirmed after it became clear Democrats were going to continue to block the spending bill over what do about young people affected by DACA until Republicans agreed to grow a soul.

The Republicans did not intend to compromise at all on this issue, and right now they hold all the cards. But ultimately, they did.

That is a measure of victory.

A government shutdown is not a joke.

The last shutdown happened in 2013 and lasted 16 days.

Nearly 800,000 federal employees were out of work without pay.

More than a million other working employees had their paychecks delayed.

According to estimates by the financial services company Standards & Poor’s, the last government shutdown cost America $24 billion, or $1.5 billion a day.

Democrats forced the shutdown with a heavy heart. We demanded a vote on legislation to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients from deportation after Trump unexpectedly cancelled the program. The final agreement involved a vote on the issue by February.

GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina appeared alongside GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Jeff Flake of Arizona, and made the following statement. “Here’s what I predict. Once we start talking about immigration and voting on immigration, we’ll find 60 votes to make sure these DACA recipients’ lives are not ruined by March 5.”

Critically, we were also able to secure funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program(CHIP). Monday’s deal to end the shutdown included a six-year reauthorization of the program, which will go on without any children losing their health insurance.

Still, it’s important not to try and cast a light on this whole incident as a win for us. It wasn’t. There was never any path to a victory here.

On Monday, a senior Republican aide told CNN that McConnell wasn’t planning to provide any firmer commitment on immigration than he already has.
“If that’s not enough for Democrats, then we’re in this for the long haul,” the aide added.
That leaves us with a hard road ahead.
It’s like the old Steinbeck book, In Dubious Battle. Sometimes you have to fight, even when you know you’re going to lose. And that’s what we just did. We took a stand. Many of our guys are up for re-election next year, in states that Trump won by a lot. It took a lot of courage.
Progressive holdouts are shrieking bloody murder, of course, but that was going to happen no matter what.
It’s a noble struggle that was just undertaken, actually. And the ones who kept on holding out were risking nothing in so doing; they’re not up for reelection this year. They’re just posing as presidential candidates.
There’s no doubt they’re doing all they can to make our lives difficult, and it’s becoming harder to hold the center because of them.
Here’s the thing, though- All of them are lemmings. The only thing that has stopped them from hurling themselves off a cliff so far is us. If we are not able to hold them back, they will all get rid of themselves. History has already proven this. George McGovern, the Bernie Sanders of his day, was slaughtered so thoroughly by Richard Nixon that his entire electoral concept- as visualized by him- was essentially refuted on the spot.
In the real world, adults who want to make actual progress have to be realistic. Sometimes compromises with people we’d rather not deal with are necessary.

Our Democratic leadership put their own necks on the chopping block and shut down the government for the sake of our Dreamers. They are now being raked over the coals from both angles, and that is just lousy.

They are national treasures, and we are very proud of them.

Going forward, we’ve got to raise awareness of how much we actually accomplished given the circumstances.

Democratic activist Sheila Jones wrote to us on the subject.

“The issue will not now be debated only behind closed doors in Congress. It will be decided in the public forum, and 87% of the public is for DACA. So we can wipe the floor with them.”

We’ve got to stick up for Chuck Schumer. And we’ve got to prepare ourselves to fight this whole battle again, in three weeks. See you in the trenches.
