Fake Left Fallacies- Tangled Tulsi Gabbard Reviles Kamala Harris as “Not Qualified”.

When I read that Tulsi Gabbard, of all people, had reviled her fellow 2020 presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) as someone “Not Qualified” to be President of the United States of America, I was disgusted so thoroughly that I was all but beside myself. I couldn’t believe it. You have got to be kidding me. Who are you, Tulsi Gabbard, monstrous traitor and foreign cutout that you *allegedly* are, to use the term “Not Qualified” as regards a career prosecutor and elected Senator like Harris? This is completely unacceptable.

Senator Harris, we are here for you. We’re not endorsing you-or anybody else- yet, but we’re here for you. You are a Democrat.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we haven’t issued an endorsement yet, and we don’t intend to, not for a while. The reason why is the wealth of riches we have in these candidates. All of them are so vastly superior to Trump or Bernie that even to compare them is facile. Our concern is making it unified through what promises to be a chaotic primary. Democratic

We have been there for all of them, too, not to mention every other Democrat. We’ve even stood up for Ilhan Omar and praised Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when she’s done something right, even though they’re socialists. The only reason we ever have for going after another Democrat is being convinced that they’re anything but. That’s Tulsi for you. Back in 2017, we wrote that “Tulsi Gabbard has something for everyone, and all of it is dishonest“.

Well, here’s another lie she’s told. Kamala Harris is completely qualified to hold the office of President, and much more qualified than some, like her or Bernie Sanders. I remember when Bernie said the same thing about Hillary Clinton. Way to display your internalized sexism; not a big surprise considering your father was anti-gay extremist Mike Gabbard.

Researching the tangled tale of Tulsi Gabbard was really somewhat disturbing. Her situation is one of the clearest links we have to the ongoing problem of the far left and the far right converging. Her family hijacked Hawaii’s Democratic Party and runs it using Republican policies. Hardly any of her supporters have anything to do with us. According to one list of major contributors to the Tulsi Gabbard campaign, published by DailyKos in 2012, Democratic donors were actually exceptions on this list.  Many of these people have not donated to campaigns other than Mike Gabbard’s Congressional campaign, or Richard Reed’s Senate campaign, both as Republicans. Reed’s Senate campaign was allegedly connected to both the Gabbards’ and to Butler’s religious group.

This all happened because Hawaii’s people and atmosphere are so liberal. It’s a one-party state; no Republican has any hope at all to get elected there. A serious attempt has not been made in years. But the last time someone gave it the old college try, it was Tulsi’s good old Dad.

The Democratic Party has had a long reign in Hawaii. Some of it comes from the popularity of the labor movement there in the 20th century, and the efforts of the Hawaii Democratic Party to push for greater inclusivity of the electoral base have traditionally been venerated. These factors have combined to earn Democrats near-complete control of the state legislature. But such an extended period of dominance has been resulting in increased voter apathy and increased factionalism within the Democratic Party of Hawaii.

This apathy is what led Mike Gabbard to try and challenge Democratic incumbent Ed Case in 2004. The elder Gabbard, known for his virulent anti-gay crusade in the 1990s, was attempting to overturn the status quo and win as a Republican the race to represent Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. At that time, a reporter for Honolulu Magazine requested an interview on her ties to the Chris Butler cult, her family’s religion, a bizarre offshoot of the Hare Krishnas.

Tulsi got nice and mad, and listen to what she said.

“I smell a skunk,” she emailed back. “It’s clear to me that you’re acting as a conduit for … homosexual extremist supporters of Ed Case!”

We can see this vicious, right-wingesque swipe at Harris is no isolated incident, but part of a long-running pattern. She’s carrying on the legacy of her father, like any dutiful daughter, and his values were utterly conservative, far enough to the right to border on libertarianism.

Libertarianism is a political philosophy that advocates for laissez-faire economic policies in a sense so extreme they believe government should be all but eliminated. It is an offshoot of the abominably racist John Birch Society, which was founded by a Ku Klux Klan member named Fred Koch. He was the father of the infamous Koch Brothers of Koch Industries, Charles and David-the founders of a third party, the Libertarian Party, which is basically a smooth-talking version of the rabid John Birch party line. David was to have been Vice-President if they pulled it off when they first ran in 1980. He spent two million dollars of his own money making the attempt but got crushed.

But they didn’t give up. They’ve been corralling their resources patiently ever since.

The libertarian movement is an interesting case. They have some huge billionaires working with them, like Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News. It’s supposed to be as far right as it gets. So why are so many figures from the radical left caught up with them?

On the Issues, a non-partisan informational website that rates and categorizes lawmakers and candidates describes Tulsi Gabbard as a “Libertarian-Leaning Progressive” based on her voting record.

A similar organization, Progressive Punch.org, provides a searchable database of Congressional voting records, from the perspective of the far left. They gave Bernie Sanders an A, for his lifetime support of progressive causes. Tulsi Gabbard got an F. Basic logic would suggest they would stand in diametric opposition to one another.

Why do they have all the same supporters, then?

One angry supporter of Bernie Sanders wrote the following nonsense on 7/23/17, on a thread discovered on Facebook. Note his dual enthusiasm for both Bernie and Tulsi. and his loathing for moderate Democrats.
“No REAL progressive is gonna vote for more of the Clinton style, corporate special interest, Big Bank donor loving, false progressive garbage. Yet…here are the Democrats showing us early on that they haven’t changed. Ready for a repeat of 2016? Personally…I will work to expose and destroy the hopes of any candidate that the DNC tries to ram down our throats again by using Super Delegates and closed Primaries…and any candidate who remained silent against the DNC’s attack on our Democracy by rigging the election against Bernie Sanders. #Sanders/Gabbard2020 #Gabbard/Turner2020
This same man later went on to beg and plead for unity among the former supporters of Sanders- so that they will have greater success in attacking not Republicans, but Democrats. Mentioned at the spearhead of this assault on their fellows in the left, is always one name- Tulsi Gabbard.

Her record shows again and again that is not a Democrat in anything but name, even though so-called progressives love her. She managed to hoodwink Bernie supporters into thinking she is one of them. By resigning from the DNC at the time Bernie or Bust rioted during HRC’s nomination and since has come to embody misguided attacks by so-called progressives on the so-called liberal elite. In point of fact, however, the evidence indicates quite otherwise. Tulsi Gabbard does not vote like a progressive darling. She’s a surfer, which seems to be more important than her voting record. What a mess. This person would be the biggest con in the world if she wasn’t so incompetent. Ever heard her speak? Better than sleeping pills. Snore.

Her voting record, world view, and connections resemble much more closely a resume, tailor-made to be both barely acceptable to the leaders of the Democratic Party, and a perfect Libertarian plant.

Since the 2016 disaster, people worldwide have been paying more attention to world events- which have been pretty awful. Great Britain just got a far-right prime minister, Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil is stomping up and down on human rights, and Marine Le Pen of France, who is blatantly Putin-financed, is leading Emmanuel Macron in the polls. Meanwhile, far-left figures like Sanders and parties like Germany’s pro-Putin Die Linke vote on behalf of Russian interests all over Europe. All this has helped a public awareness begin growing toward a reoccurring trend, one reshaping the entire scale of the political spectrum.

The left and the right are becoming the same entity.

This is far from new. History has played this drama out a great many times. The two have often historically converged when a common friend or foe suits both of their needs, and have proven capable of working in effective concert even though they’re involved for different reasons. Lenin’s doctrines specifically advocated for Communists using this technique, and these days they’ve been doing it so long they’ve started to resemble each other. New anti-democracy hybrid systems of totalitarianism may call themselves what they like, of course, be it corporate socialism or state-run capitalism. But in terms of policy and temperament, they are exactly the same.

This is why the monopolists are trying so hard to combine the far-right and far-left. They’re stirring up chaos until they see the ladder Petyr Baelish spoke of in Game of Thrones manifest, and then they use it. Nothing too complicated, but they’ve got a lot of ways to get it done. It’s almost like a game of three-card monte; its complexity lies within its simplicity. The monopolists are going to try and use that ladder to guide us off the path of freedom and democracy so that guys like the Kochs can run everything without any governmental restraint at all. That was why libertarianism was conceived of, and although it didn’t catch on right away, it’s got a few heads full of steam now. We are in the middle of watching nothing less than a full-fledged attempt at a Libertarian revival, aimed at the destruction of the newer and more cultured America we enjoyed under Bill Clinton and Obama.

When Trump took office, one of the first things he did was to yank us out of the Paris Accord so big business could get back to work mucking up the lakes and rivers again. That item had been high on the Koch agenda for years. When Scott Pruitt, a former Oklahoma attorney general who had spent his whole career fighting the EPA, was chosen by Trump as the agency’s new head, all concerned had no trouble with interpreting that move. He’d been brought in to gradually dismantle it. Let’s return to the days of starting Lake Erie on fire, what a neat idea, dear boy have a cigar.

It seems clear that clean water for Flint, Michigan is about as likely as the same for Japan’s nuclear power plant post-tsunami. It just isn’t a priority to monopolists.

They want to bring things back to the old way, graft and corruption, and big bosses. Stuff we take for granted, like minimum wages and the eight-hour workday would be gone in a terrible flash. Ever read Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle? Great book, but don’t read it on an empty stomach. Work-life was nightmarish for the American workingman back then. That’s what it would be like with no government that could hold big business accountable. That’s why Democrats have to dedicate their lives every single generation to fighting back this growing darkness.

It is also why the far left is getting to be such a tremendous problem. They fight us at every turn for no reason, but very rarely the Republicans. The Squad of freshmen Representatives like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is comprised of all socialists who voted against caged children getting soap in a bloc just a few short weeks ago. Likewise, Trump is gaining all sorts of mileage by attacking them. Their ability to repulse middle America, in particular, is all but a red flag in the eyes of frenzied bulls. Their radical views are his biggest asset in 2020.

The punk rock anarchist types are clueless about getting taken in. Their protests are undermining their entire value systems, not to mention their future right to stay healthy.  They think it’s going to all be dancing through Utopia- the Greek word for “nowhere”. My guess is it would be more like that movie “The Purge”. Without real Democrats to protect them, people too different to blend in would be little more than easy prey. To whose benefit does that end up working for? The monopolists, of course! They’re like a hydra, striking at a million places at once. They’ve got all the money. That’s why they’re able to co-opt so many people in either party- like Tulsi Gabbard.

On the Issues, a non-partisan informational website that rates and categorizes lawmakers and candidates describes Gabbard as a “Libertarian-Leaning Progressive” based on her voting record.

Monopolist sects of the global elite are linking up transnationally and behind the scenes in a previously unheard-of level of cooperation and making their presences known through elected proxies like Tulsi Gabbard.

To pull it off, they’ve got to use a combination of theatrics and money to manipulate the national dialectic, hoping they can eventually fool the people into demanding a third party, likely to be similar to the Viktor Orban’s Hungary “managed democracy” hybrid systems that are taking form everywhere across the world.

In this model minorities and LGBT persons and the poor bear the weight of society, civil rights and freedom are surrendered for illusory stability, and a bigger state than ever has autonomy enough to do anything they want, the way China randomly built huge camps in the desert and locked up a million Uighur Muslims last fall. Likewise, that LGBT activist, Yelena Grigoryva, just got stabbed and strangled in Russia. This is not a game. We have got to wake people up and splash awareness in their faces before it’s too late.

Two-thirds of the world’s states are now no longer democracies, including the United States. according to non-partisan organization the World Freedom Index, and that is very dangerous to everyone. The only thing still holding this neo-fascist tide from sweeping over the whole world like wildfire is the strength even of American democracy’s memory. That’s why they are trying to attack it. The only guardians of it are the centrists of the Democratic Party, which is why all this is happening. Their true enemies are not socialists. They are the liberals.

They are us, Democrats.

This is the likely explanation for why she thought it a good idea to savage one of her fellow Democrats, Kamala Harris, with such a mean and rude assault on her qualifications. It adds acrimony and stress to our already taxed body politic. She’s always doing something to hurt our party. They’ve been talking about running her to hamstring us for years.

Our opinion is that it was more than a mean streak that caused her to resign as DNC junior chairman at the worst possible time for the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party in general. Many different factors were involved, most notably The Wikileaks dump of hacked data from the DNC’s email servers had just happened, and the Bernie or Bust lunatics were rioting in the streets of Philadelphia, over illegally acquired and hacked emails proving that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz resented Bernie’s inability to file out basic FEC forms correctly.

Tulsi said she was resigning in disgust, a double whammy for her. Not only did she get to damage her fellow Democrats, she gained millions of hardcore Bernie or Busters in the process. They think she’s one of them, even though more reputable leftist publications like Jacobin Magazine have also tried convincing them repeatedly. One article of theirs I would was titled “Tulsi Gabbard Is Not Your Friend.” They had no more success than we have.

It’s not that often that the socialists and I can come together on anything, but so far as Tulsi goes we’re riding in the same boxcar.

It could be that Tulsi’s been indoctrinated by Chris Butler, the guy who runs that twisted mutation of Hare Krishnaism cult that you were raised in? The one who now goes by the name Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda Paramahamsa? The Butler cult has built a shadowy and global organization that according to some numbers in the tens of thousands, and the Gabbards are its most public and conspicuous members. The Cult Education Forum has more than a hundred pages worth of threads detailing their activities over the years.

We have got her back- just as we’ve got Joe Biden‘s, or Beto O’Rourke‘s, or Al Franken‘s. We’ll stand for any of them other than Tulsi and the Bern, two disingenuous libertarians only in the race to sow dissent and chaos. That sort has always hated people like Kamala Harris because she’s strong and black and female. They did the same thing to Joy Reid, whose defense we also took the torch for. Remember this, Bernie Bots?

We do. And we will never, ever forget it. Progressives, lol. If this is progress, give me the Stone Age back.

While doing the research for this article, we came across another interesting tidbit. Tulsi has just sued Google for taking down a paid ad of hers, launched close to the time she made the ugly remark about Harris.

According to the lawsuit, filed by lawyers representing Gabbard’s campaign Tulsi Now Inc., Google suspended the Gabbard campaign’s advertising account for several hours during the first Democratic debate. “On June 28, millions of Americans asked Google about Tulsi Gabbard,” the mournful wording went, “and Tulsi sought to answer them. But Google silenced her.”

In response, Google says “automated systems that flag unusual activity on all advertiser accounts — including large spending changes” were to blame for the suspension of Gabbard’s account. Google says their automated systems aim to “prevent fraud and protect our customers.”

“In this case, our system triggered a suspension and the account was reinstated shortly thereafter,” said Google spokeswoman Riva Sciuto. “We are proud to offer ad products that help campaigns connect directly with voters, and we do so without bias toward any party or political ideology.”

Now, who to believe? Analytical tools on Twitter have shown tens of thousands of fake accounts swarming on her handle. This is her M.O. Check out that picture. Every little dot represents another one. It looks like a grand fireworks finale.

"Thousands of inauthentic Twitter accounts emerge when exploring tweets where @TulsiGabbard's handle appears (large highlighted cluster includes ~20K accounts) cc: @yoyoel @delbius @vijaya" Thanks to @GeoffGoldberg!

This is all a result of the Citizens United ruling allowing the use of dark money in politics. Now private empires like the ones put together by the infamous Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries can spend nine-tenths of a billion dollars to hoodwink and influence us.

The thing about their strategy is, it’s completely common sense. What would you do, if it was your billion dollars, and your goal is to control the nation’s data flow- which is to say, its people? Would you really only support one side, and not try to influence the other? Did not Lenin say, The best way to control the opposition is to lead it yourself? It’s a football strategy, really; pretty basic stuff. They’re playing both the ends against the middle.

This is the libertarian way. Ask Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire owner of Fox News. Or his friend, Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart, and many others too. Sheldon Adelson, Robert Mercer. Richard Mellon Scaife, the mean alcoholic billionaire who funded the Arkansas Project to destroy Bill Clinton’s life for some random reason, they all do this and they’ll continue to as long as it works. It’s a strategy.

That’s what I’d do.

I’ve found myself thinking a lot about the Koch brothers recently, ever since I happened to read that David was unexpectedly, and after all these years, pushed out by his older brother, Charles, notorious eminence grise of the American political scene. It seemed surprising to me, not something I’d expected in any way. These guys should have it all right now. The Tea Party destabilized the Republican Party, and made it ripe for the capture of Trump. Now there’s a radical faction in the Democratic Party, too, an insurgent campaign against the center.

A New Republic article from 2014 called “GOP Death Watch: The Final Days of the Republican Party” pointed out that the big advantage the Democrats had back then was that our radicals had no part in our power structure (radicals should never have any power), whereas the Republican Tea Party was making it too difficult for the old guard, the John McCain style Republicans, to keep any order or unity among themselves.

The Sanders wing of the Democratic Party helped Russia even the scales– at the cost of destabilizing the country even further and leaving us wide open to foreign interference like Russia’s in 2016. Sanders ran a campaign even more infested with Russians than Trump’s. The Sanders campaign was “central” to the Russian efforts, said the Mueller Report and more has come out since.

They were all the way up in Bernie, even his campaign manager Tad Devine. He was Paul Manafort’s lead attache in Ukraine back during the Orange Revolution, and he was the first witness called at Paul Manafort’s trial because he worked for Manafort in Ukraine, as did Rick Gates, the first witness to crack to Robert Mueller.

Catch that. Three of the top strategists opposing Hillary Clinton in 2016 had been doing Vladimir Putin’s bidding in this capacity for longer than a decade.

Creepy.

It seems clear they will do the same thing in 2020. Trump said openly that he would take information from a foreign source again, he has refused to fund the cyber-defense force Congress authorized and laughed at the Russian efforts with Putin at this year’s G-20 summit.

How much more obvious can you get? It goes without saying, of course, that Putin is the biggest libertarian of them all. He is the head, the rest are the tentacles. Julian Assange of Wikileaks, who dumped the DNC emails, is a libertarian, too. They’re all in on it together! It’s on the front page of every newspaper, every day. Most Americans know this stuff instinctively, deep down in their hearts, along with something else:

Somehow, somewhere, their plans went horribly astray.

The feeling I’m getting from the world right now is that of great and utter tension. It does not have the feeling of being scripted anymore. It’s like it’s taken on a life of its own like an avalanche. They’ve lost control, and only Putin’s got the gambler’s nerve to enjoy it. He knows full well how little of Russia truly takes place under his will or even say-so. They know to shut up and go about their business in that part of the world; no one can take that away from them. Their muteness speaks for all of humanity on this one.

Tulsi Gabbard is not someone to trust, in our opinion. She’s just in it to deal out some cheap shots, leave some permanent, rankling schisms behind her, and run away chortling to plan out her next Tuggle Snuggle, horrid black widow that she is. Truly, she is a worthy successor hamstringer to her master the Bern. Her trolls are uglier than his, and I never thought I’d say that about anyone.
Going forward, it’s important for us to be especially mindful about who we support, and who we don’t support. Real Democrats are loyal and they know how to work with a team. They stay in the sane center, they pay heed to reality and the requirements of the position, and they don’t throw away their advantages by getting hasty. They corral resources, shore up trenches, dig their foxholes deeply and well- and above all, keep their own backyards clean of libertarian fakirs like the Tuggler.  Gabbard, you are the one who is unqualified. If you want to throw reviles around, look in the mirror. You’ll see trouble with a surfboard gazing back at you.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Don’t Waste Your Skills on Socialism!

Don't waste your skills on socialism!

The current political landscape of America is realigning, and it’s time to fight hard for the parts of it worth preserving. Right now, the only thing holding our democracy up at all is the professionalism and decency of the Democratic Party. Keeping that intact means keeping our backyards clean and looking out for our own.

The defeat of Joe Crowley at the hands of 28-year-old socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in last Tuesday’s New York primary has therefore presented a few difficulties for the writer of this article.

I am generally very much against throwing primary challenges at elected Democrats. It’s a waste of time and money. But I do think there are times when it is genuinely placed upon our hearts to commit to certain actions, including running for office, because we sincerely think we can do some good.

Ocasio-Cortez is undoubtedly something of a wunderkind and is in many ways a credit to all Millennial Democrats. She’s smart, she’s tough, she’s courageous, she’s well-spoken- and she’s in big danger of getting in her own way completely.

Millennials, this is just what we are trying to avoid when we get into politics.

We have seen before how progressives can get in the way of progress. Socialism is evil. The political party who acts as its vector is not long for this world. That is one of the big takeaways of the twentieth century. No one political candidate is worth allowing our party to become the vehicle of a highly dystopian system.

Changes in the whims and trends of the American political consciousness will come and go, but some things will always be the same. Experience and skill are not easy to acquire. And socialism is evil!

Running the country is not the same thing as running a bar, which is literally what Ocasio-Cortez was doing by way of employment last year at this time. The whole thing could easily shape up as a disaster.

If she bungles this somehow she’s likely to get killed next fall, and the seat will go back to the Republicans.

The Queens-Bronx district is heavily Democratic, making her a favorite over Republican Anthony Pappas in November, but so was Joe Crowley, who was a time-tested professional. A great deal now rides on the shoulders of a completely untested element. We wish her the best, as we take a deep breath.

It’s important to realize that this candidate has embarked down a dangerous path. In helping the opposition get rid of one of our strongest leaders, she’s already become an asset of Donald Trump, the guy she told Morning Joe Scarborough she doesn’t want to focus on.
Joe Crowley was a professional. He has been in Congress for twenty years. He will be missed. As for Ocasio-Cortez, I kind of like the lady. She’s done and said a couple of neat things. She went down to the border and checked in on those poor little kids Trump has got locked up in cages, and that’s important to me, not to mention to anyone with a heart and soul.
But why, why does she have to be a socialist? It’s a tragic waste!
At this time we will support any Democrat over any Republican, but it is with the gravest of reservations that we extend any support at all to a card-carrying socialist.
Socialism is not our friend and it is not our salvation. Historically, it has held liberalism and freedom in contempt and has planned to solve problems in the most heartless and brutal of ways.
Most Americans know this, and hold democracy to be sacred. This is why the Ocasio-Cortez’s of the world can almost never win in a general election, and why the Republicans are so elated that she pulled this off. They have been waiting all this time to hang the tag of socialists on us. Now they finally have just cause.
Just the same, for all the talk about this, it is our opinion that it’s not a major disaster for the Democratic Party. One seat out of four hundred does not a revolution make. Bernie’s endorsement has been the kiss of death all along and will continue to be.
Sooner or later, someplace or somewhere, the Berniecrats were going to score an upset, and it’s true that in many ways she’s a very good candidate. This is the year of the Democratic woman, after all.
It benefits only the Republicans when Democrats waste time and energy taking each other out and ripping each other up; we’re not going to do that. That is the whole point of political gaslighting.
We’re not going to throw any dirt at her for beating our guy, because we’re not that petty, and we know she’s going to face plenty of thrown dirt in the months to come, no matter what. The Republicans are going to rip up every inch of her life and see what’s under the carpets. We pray that she has kept her closet clean.
On the off chance that she reads this article, we would like to implore Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to strongly consider the following.
Burn your Democratic Socialist card. Suggest changes to the party without bashing those who’ve paved the way for you.  Use your voice and your power responsibly and with moderation. Choose effective and organized role models, not the long-winded and irascible Bernie Sanders.
Since the election was stolen from Hillary Clinton, we have called out for leaders, and you are who showed up. The way you entered the scene might not be our favorite choice, but you’re a Democrat now, and ultimately, we’re glad to have you.
Don’t let yourself be wasted on socialism.

Republicans DREAD The Blue Wave! Expect Them To Fight Dirty.

#NeverTrump

2018 is shaping up to be a historic year for the Democratic Party. We’ve got all the momentum in the world. The Blue Wave gets stronger every day. The Republicans just announced a budget of $250 million for the midterms, to try and stave it off.

This is why now is the time for us to be very careful, and keep our eyes open for Republican dirty tricks. The Republicans have nothing else to offer.

Right now, the primaries are going smooth, in spite of various attempts at disruption, but the closer we get to midterms, the more likely it’s going to be that they find ways to drop bombs on us.

Remember the Brooks Brothers riot?

In 2000, during the Bush-Gore recount, hundreds of paid GOP operatives led by prideful dirtbag Roger Stone caused a “near riot” outside a counting room in Miami-Dade County, forcing the canvassing board to shut down the count.

That one’s a bit aged at this point, although still quite vivid for me; a little more recent an example might be made of the recall election for the governorship of Wisconsin, back in 2012.

Voters across the state were receiving robocalls telling them that if they had already signed a petition to recall Scott Walker, they did not need to get out and vote.

Those things are bad enough, but often this even gets personal; they will literally walk in your front door.

One example involves Karl Rove‘s brief tenure in the Democratic Party.

At age 19, he was the protege of Donald Segretti of Watergate fame- the guy who coined the term “ratf*cking, as in, f*cking a DemocRAT”.

In the fall election season of 1970, a bespectacled and fresh-faced teenager turned up at the Chicago campaign headquarters of Alan Dixon, a Democrat running for state treasurer in Illinois. He had a few drinks and left- but not before stealing some of Dixon’s letterheaded stationery.
It took some time to put it together, when 1,000 invitations on campaign stationery began circulating in Chicago’s red-light district and soup kitchens, promising “free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing” guaranteed for anyone who showed up at Dixon’s headquarters.
Hundreds of the city’s heavy drinkers and homeless turned up at his reception, looking for booze and an orgy.
The teenager who stole those letterheads was key GOP strategist Karl Rove, and the incident marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career of being the biggest scumbag he could be.
Was Rove able to do this because he is a genius? Not quite. He simply knew that as Democrats, we are honor bound to take in everyone. We take people in, and we hold them dear, and we stand up for each other. This is our greatest strength. But, as with anything, it gives an opening to the opposition, people who are cutthroats and criminals of the highest order.
People do what Rove did to the Dixon campaign back then all the time. They pretend to be our friends, hang out with us for a while, and then bail for no reason or on an extremely thin and shady pretense.
Both during and after the election, anecdotally speaking, I can remember a number of different relationships that suddenly went south for no reason.
I also recall a number of trusted people who suddenly switched sides during the election, at the worst possible time.
Knowing what we do now about what the Russians and Republicans were doing, it seems very possible those incidents were part of a coordinated effort to spread rancor and distrust. They certainly were divisive at the time. You don’t stab your own people in the back.
Another example manifested in the post-election days, a time when interest in politics is usually very low. In all the Facebook groups in our network, after the election was over, we all started getting hundreds and hundreds of new member requests, every day, from profiles that had thousands of group memberships, etc.
One source, who has screened new member requests for several dozen pro-Democratic Party Facebook groups since before the election began, made the following statement, under the conditions of anonymity.

“From mid-May 2017 to the end of July 2017, roughly 80% of the new member request were rabidly pro-Bernie Sanders supporters with profiles that appeared to be hijacked from the real owners or that were simply fake accounts. They seemed to have been created for the purpose of loading them up with pro-Sanders, anti-Democratic Party fake news to be spread by computer generation across Facebook.

People from as diverse a location as Brussels, Wales, Provo, Utah, and “General Location, Russia” have tried to hack the blog. I get emails on them from all over the world. This is nothing new, it’s an everyday event. My Sucuri plugin lets me know their IP addresses. It looks just like this:

Bored, uncreative loser who tried to hack me
An example of a turd who tried to hack us.

Then, we go to a place called WhatismyIPaddress.com, and take a look at where they’re from. It looks a lot like this:

Creepy.
All of this is meant to illustrate that this is the time to be really careful.  Stuff can come up until the very last minute that’s a total game changer. For an example that’s been in the news recently, look no further than the  “November surprise” handed to the Republicans by James Comey in 2016. That did a lot to cost HRC the election.
Safeguarding the Blue Wave is our lot. That’s what we’re here to do. We’ve got to build it, grow it, guide it, and stop jealous neighbors from poisoning its waters. So long as we do a good job at that, the Republicans can never hope to beat us.

Hillary Clinton Is Needed More Now Than Ever.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is at it again. For the first time in this cycle, they have launched ads attempting to tie Senate Democrats to the woman they most love to hate- Hillary Clinton.

A number of new digital ads released Monday are to run in the 10 states won by President Donald Trump in 2016 where Democratic senators are seeking re-election.

The videos will be seen on Facebook, which has joined Russia and the Republicans in unjustly treating Democrats time and again these last few years. What a surprise.

At any rate, while Fox News has been focusing on kicking around a private citizen, Stormy Daniels broke records on Sunday night on CNN. Twenty-two million people tuned in to hear her tell the awful story of what it was like to have an affair with America’s sleaziest man- its president.

It was a powerful story that made for a powerful retelling, and it highlighted the growing trend of awareness of women’s rights and women’s issues. In that awareness, Hillary Clinton’s name has been pulled back into the newspapers, as Fox News turns to the one strategy that has never failed it- attacking her.

Clinton recently said Trump’s campaign platform was “looking backwards”, and the videos highlight this. That’s good, since it was true.

They also highlight her saying during the 2016 race that half of Trump’s supporters could be put into a “basket of deplorables”, another undoubted fact.

For someone who they call crooked, she sure seems to make them awfully mad for telling the truth. This is what has led to Fox News giving Hillary Clinton and Stormy Daniels equal airtime this whole last week and weekend, although one was making television records while the other was living a private life.

Former State Department spokesperson Marie Harf, who is now a Fox News Contributor, made a number of nasty remarks on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace on March 18, while the Daniels interview was going on, about how she ought to “go away”.

Sometimes it is hard to understand people.

Hillary Clinton gave every day of her life to the people of this country. She subordinated her own needs and pride and self-interest to act for the good of her country and her party. Why is it so hard for them to just say thank you?

The 2016 election proved to us that institutionalized sexism is still very powerful, and the thirty years worth of hit jobs and slander that the right wing conspiracy machine cooked up over the years is still a potent brew.

It wasn’t anything rational that led to such a self-destructive decision on the part of a large minority of American people last year. It was irrational anger born from living in a confused and post-truth reality. People stopped listening to each other, the lines of communication broke down, and the worst case political scenario actually happened.

Since then not a day has gone by when we aren’t vividly reminded of how much better a place the United States would have been to live in today if Hillary Clinton was our President.

Our national conduct would befit that of a superpower, instead of a bumbling infant. Our economy would have stayed strong. We would not be internationally reviled for pulling out of the Paris Accord.

We would have been making strides toward the future, doing good for as many people as we could have, for as long as we could have.

There will come a time when we get to try again. America is an empire of magnificent strength. It was built to survive a great deal worse than Donald Trump. In the meantime, however, in our hearts, we know that she was robbed. That single fact alone has done more to disrespect this country than anything that has happened since Bush vs Gore.

Hillary Clinton is one of the most competent living Americans, and the fact of her exclusion from the halls of power in Washington is to the detriment of every man, woman, and child who calls this country home. She would have brought the country honor at all the same junctures that Trump has debased it. She is missed and she is needed more sorely than ever.

Furthermore, it is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that it’s only right to stick up for someone who is being slandered unfairly, and all the more so when they have spent a lifetime sticking up for you.

No matter how much mud they sling at her, we will never turn our backs on Hillary Clinton.

The Senate Inquires- Spoiler Stein Under the Gun on Russia.

Two different Senate committees probing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election have formally requested documents and material related to Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s campaign.

Jill Stein played a gigantic role in denying the presidency to Hillary Clinton, who Putin hated, blamed for all his domestic woes, and was determined to ruin.

Any Democratic activist present on Facebook for the 2016 election cycle will tell you. There were people online among the Green left and the Bernie or Bust crowd who you simply could not talk to.

They were so full of hatred and lies for Hillary Clinton that you really had to be there to understand. It was as if they were living underwater. It was only after we learned about what Russia had been doing that any of it started to make sense.

Stein posed as the true progressive champion during the campaign, reaching out to Bernie Sanders supporters with a message declaring Clinton more dangerous than Trump. It stands to reason to conclude that her votes came from the left side of the political spectrum.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin were the three Rust Belt states that Trump was able to steal from Clinton. In each state, the difference between Trump and Clinton was less than the total Stein received.

This is clearly the role she was meant to play, and is probably why she was at that famous luncheon with Putin, Manafort, Flynn and the rest two years ago this month.

And so it came to pass that the left fringe of American politics cost the Democratic Party the White House, for the second time in sixteen years.

It struck a younger me as being very odd, that even though the Greens had a set of goals that were so similar to ours, we always ended up at odds. In 1999, I read their platform, agreed with most of it, and cheered for Ralph Nader– in the early days.

I wanted to see the Greens get their 5% of the vote and make it onto the ballot in all 50 states. It struck me as democratic. Democracy is a magnificent, vital, living thing, evolving according to the will of the collective- It all struck me as a worthy underdog cause to root for.

But then, Nader kept campaigning in Florida, and other swing states, in a race so close that a few hundred votes in Florida ended up deciding it. Nader got nearly 100,000 votes in Florida. He ruined us.

I remember that I couldn’t understand it. Couldn’t he try for his 5% in less crucial areas? He had only to win popular votes, not electoral ones. Why was he not out in California, where the Green Party’s base- and an eighth of America’s citizenry- might have easily given that to them, while still remaining comfortably blue?

Why would any man of sense and progressive values possibly be so foolhardy as to risk the coming to power of another Bush? It only made sense under one scenario- that he was not fully sincere, and that he valued power over policy.

When we found out Karl Rove’s PAC had been paying to run ads for his campaign in swing states in 2004, nobody was really surprised.

But how does this tie into the Russian plot? Why have Robert Mueller’s investigators become interested in the Green Party and Jill Stein?

It reads like a grocery list.

“The Russian embrace of Jill Stein was anything but subtle,” said Andrew Weiss, a Russia expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “Russian state propaganda outlets like RT had a field day with her strident attacks on the U.S. political establishment, and they seemed to work hand in glove.”

Even her running mate, Ajamu Baraka, has been known for years as someone on the fringes of pro- Russian conspiracy theories. He has repeatedly appeared on infamous Holocaust denier Kevin Barrett’s Truth Jihad radio show.

In one broadcast on July 19, 2014, the topic of discussion was the recently downed Malaysia Airlines flight 17, which was reportedly taken down by pro-Russian insurgents.

“Someone wrote about three weeks ago that we should expect false flag, a major false flag operation in eastern Ukraine that’s going to be blamed on the Russians. And that’s exactly what has happened,” said Baraka at the time.

For all these reasons and probably others we don’t know about yet, Stein has been a Kremlin favourite since her first run as the Green Party’s presidential candidate in 2012.

Her radical base and her love of castigating our government seem to have made her a choice selection to the Russians, whose strategy all throughout Europe has been to finance and incite both ends of the radical spectrum.

They seek to add polarity to our liberal Western atmosphere to destabilize it and take at its expense. Radical groups like the Green Party are their bread and butter.

Clint Watts, an NBC News analyst who has been tracking Russian election interference at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said that Russia’s intelligence agencies “sought to play both sides of the political spectrum to elevate Trump and turn down turnout for Clinton.”

Added Watts, “On the left politically, they sought to dissuade Bernie Sanders voters from turning out to the polls and increase turnout for Stein.”

Michael McFaul, former U.S. ambassador to Russia and an NBC News analyst, said that Stein “most certainly influenced the outcome of [the 2016] election, given the outcome was decided in three states and by 78,000 voters.”

Despite receiving only 1.07 percent of the national vote total, her showing in the crucial states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan was greater than Clinton’s margin of defeat and arguably denied Clinton an Electoral College victory.

It was Ralph Nader and the 2000 presidential election all over again.

I think about that picture of that gala banquet in December of 2015, and in my mind’s eye, I just keep seeing that cunning look on Stein’s face as she held up her champagne glass.

It was the look of someone who feels they’ve finally made it. Someone who, at long last, is getting the importance and recognition they have so long felt unduly denied, is loving it- and doesn’t want to think about the Faustian bargain made in the process.

In this world, there comes a time when we all have to realize that the sum of our choices defines who we are. Time to wake up, Jill. Reality has arrived at your front door. You are out of time.

How The GOP Grew Gangrenous- From Nixon to Trump, Pt. 5

“Richard Nixon is a no good, lying bastard. He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.”
-Harry Truman

Is it fair to start with Checkers?

In 1952, a young Senator from California named Richard Nixon was tapped to become the running mate of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Muckraking columnist Jack Anderson and investigative journalist Drew Pearson wrote an article about money that Nixon might have taken from corporate interests during his tenure thus far in government, where he had served in the Congress since 1947.

In response to this claim, Nixon crafted and delivered his famous “Checkers speech,” in which he decried his opponents and stated that no matter what anyone said, he would not return his daughters’ dog, Checkers, which had been given to them as a gift. In Poisoning the Press: Richard Nixon, Jack Anderson and the Rise of Washington’s Scandal Culture, professional correspondent Mark Feldstein gives a useful analysis of how that went over with the people.

“That resonated emotionally with the public, and a huge base — particularly of hard-core Republican conservatives — swelled to his defense and pressured Eisenhower to keep Nixon on the ticket,” Feldstein explains. “Meanwhile, liberal Democrats were nauseated by it and thought it was a maudlin speech. And the polarization that Nixon’s career would have ever after was indelibly marked.”

Thus did Richard Nixon embark upon his road to the White House. Many books have been written as to how he spent his time there, and it is not our purpose to touch on it deeply. Our interest rather lies in what effect it had on our system, to have weathered an assault on its every parameter. The Nixon administration treated America like an old Commodore 64.

Nixon’s failings were tempered and intertwined with great political gifts and considerable vision. His judgement was uneven and delusional, but he had a keen and nimble mind. In penetrating to the core of our system, he was to lay bare the groundwork of it, and expose key vulnerabilities to the light. This paved the way for a systematic undermining and devaluing of truth and objectivity.

Nixon went down in something rather less than a blaze of glory. The affair that became known as the Watergate scandal was a major political fiasco that occurred in the United States in the early 1970’s. Several Nixon operatives were caught attempting a break-in at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1972.

The articles of impeachment drawn against him did not consider the break-in itself to be of primary importance in the reason why Nixon had to go. They focused rather on the tyrannical and power-hungry way he’d tried to cover it up. The first two of them read as follows.

(1) Making or causing to be made false or misleading statements to lawfully authorized investigative officers and employes of the United States.

(2) Withholding relevant and material evidence or information from lawfully authorized investigative officers and employes of the United States

He was convinced to resign by the four-star general sent in to be his chief of staff toward the end of his tenure in office, Alexander Haig, who played the role that his fellow four-star general John Kelly is playing in the Trump White House now. As Nixon became increasingly paranoid and miserable, Haig ran the daily affairs of the White House, and was instrumental in effecting the president’s resignation. It can only be hoped that Kelly will have similar luck.

The legacy of the deleterious effects of the Nixon era on our democracy cannot be overstated. He had his fingerprints all over the most fundamentally anti-democratic projects ever put together in America, such as the Enemies List. This was the roster of famous liberals targeted by Nixon for IRS audits and other forms of extralegal retaliation. His smear campaigns against his likely 1972 opponent, Senator Edward Kennedy, were reminiscent in many key regards to the fake news attacks on our people last year.

The elimination of the American people’s ability to think critically has had many an epoch. It is certain that a large one took place under Nixon, who in one famous speech toward the end, insisted to America that he was “not a crook.” That statement proved sadly untrue. Nixon was a crook, and his crookedness has reverberated clearly into our own times.

By now it should be getting pretty clear. This new GOP, the one that came to power after the death of John F. Kennedy, was not at all the same entity we’ve been looking at up until now. In the days of Eisenhower, much less in the days of Theodore Roosevelt, this kind of conduct would have been unthinkable. Even Warren Harding, corrupt as a Chinese eunuch, was a far more genial type of criminal. Nixon’s era was vicious.

That ferocity came directly from the fascist element that absorbed into America and Europe after World War Two. It values nothing, except the will to power. It values power as both the ends and the means. Ideology is unimportant to it, but is often employed as its tool.

G. Gordon Liddy, one of the Watergate burglars who went to prison for it, wrote an autobiography and named it WILL. It sings the praises of Hitler and the Nazis on every page. He presents an anecdote inside as to how he silenced an entire D.C. county jail pod, by standing around naked and singing the Horst Wessel song.

This is why they’re getting together with Russia. It’s the same group of guys. The Russia of the modern era is fascist in every regard. Like other fascists, they are intent on controlling the resources of the world. They have picked up and adapted these ratf*cking strategies, included them in their disinformation programs, and used them to destabilize us last year in the very same way the CIA once used to destabilize Third World countries like Haiti and Nicaragua. We have been systematically prepared for this, like Hansel and Gretel, by the dirty work done by Richard Nixon and others.

The Nixon era is also when the Republicans most directly involved in the 2016 Russian election hacking fiasco started crafting their modern mask in earnest. Guys like Roger Stone, the soon-to-be-indicted Paul Manafort, and Karl Rove all got their start during this time. Their mentors were the men who ran the Nixon administration, a place overflowing with competing monsters. All of these were deeply complicit in last year’s ongoings with the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin.

Donald Segretti, the Nixon operative who coined the term “ratf*cking”, as in, “F*cking a DemocRAT”, played his role, did his prison time, and lived an unimportant life thereafter. However, Karl Rove, the GOP strategist whom George W. Bush referred to as “The Architect”, was a personal protege of his. Rove was already a deeply corrupt and ruthless person, even at nineteen.

In 1969, posing as a volunteer at the Chicago campaign headquarters of Alan Dixon, a Democrat running for state treasurer, Rove stole official campaign letterheads, and sent out 1,000 invitations to people in the city’s red-light district and soup kitchens, offering “free beer, free food, girls, and a good time for nothing” at Dixon headquarters. A bunch of crazed alcoholics showed up at this important fundraiser for Dixon.

Although Dixon still won the election, Rove succeeded in significantly disrupting it. Later, Rove said, “I got involved in a political prank.” Pranks of that nature made him useful to the Republicans all the way through the decades between Nixon and George W. Bush. The crimes and techniques of their generation were transmitted seamlessly to ours.

Policies such as the War on Drugs were developed and refined during these decades. Although this war on the American people is more commonly associated with Reagan, Nixon was the first to use the phrase. It was designed as a strategy to hamstring the lives of voters who Nixon saw as reliably Democratic, according to White House tapes.

Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman said, “We had two enemies- the antiwar left, and the blacks.  We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black. But by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs themselves? Of course we did.”

Reagan’s continuation of this so-called ‘war’ was meant to heighten racial tensions for the benefit of the Republican Party. This was a linchpin of the “Southern Strategy” conceived by Lee Atwater, whom most political observers of both parties rate as the dirtiest political strategist of the twentieth century. Voting rights, food stamps, and even madhouses were all taken away from the people. This was effective because the aforementioned white malcontents like to see other people get the shaft- at any cost. They’ve been taught to accept this as a substitute for a decent lot in life since before the Civil War.

Lee Atwater’s Southern Strategy
The Republicans were able to use the McGovern-Fraser Commission ruling to their advantage, time and again. They became quite adept at handpicking their opponents. Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, and Michael Dukakis were all considered weak candidates by Republican National Committee officials. Although Carter did manage to unseat the incumbent, former vice president to Nixon Gerald Ford, Carter would not likely have been elected, had the GOP post-Nixon not been so hated that Christ himself could not have been elected on a Republican platform.
By 1980 they had significantly regrouped, behind Ronald Reagan, who handily won the presidential election. Many independents and a significant number of Democrats joined Republican voters in electing Ronald Reagan to be the fortieth president of the United States. He won the 1984 election in what was the biggest landslide victory since Cox-Harding, and his vice-president George H.W. Bush had little trouble succeeding him on the strength of that momentum. The very word “liberal” had become an epithet. The Republicans reigned supreme, and that showed every sign of continuing.
That all changed with the arrival on the scene of Bill Clinton. Lee Atwater said at a meeting of Republican leaders in Little Rock in 1989, “What scares me is a southern moderate or conservative Democrat, and the scariest of all, because he’s the most talented of the bunch, is Bill Clinton.”
In that sentence, lies the motive of the “vast, right wing conspiracy” that Hillary Clinton has spoken of, out there for one purpose- to destroy her and her husband.
The campaign to destroy the Clintons was launched in 1989 by none other than the good old Lee Atwater, who was named head of the Republican National Committee. He was a natural choice, having recently put together President Bush’s winning campaign in 1988, personified accurately by the “Willie Horton” TV ad, which attempted to portray the Democratic candidate as a defender of black rapists and black murderers.

His job this time was to re-elect George H.W. Bush, and he was worried. Bill Clinton was young, charismatic, and eloquent. Most of all, he was likeable. The reptilian Bush hardly made for a winsome figure to begin with. Next to Clinton, he seemed like a cyborg.

In 1992, Republicans tried to make experience, character and trust the central issues. Voters indicated that the theme of change sounded by the Democrats was more important, but more important still was the personal power of Bill Clinton, and the amazingly effective duo that he and Hillary had made, ever since their college days.
Clearly, the opposition would have to come up with some new strategies. The techniques developed by Reagan had been skillfully snatched away from them. It became clear immediately that there was no one on the Republican end of the playing field capable of competing with the Clintons on level ground.
This fear and insecurity on the part of the Republicans was the reason behind the launching of what became known as the “Arkansas Project”. Funded by billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, this project was designed to damage and end the presidency of Bill Clinton. After wasting more than $25 million of taxpayer money to trump up charges against the Clintons on Whitewater, Troopergate, Travelgate and Filegate, the right had nothing better than to settle with the Monica Lewinsky affair, and the unjust vilification of Hillary Clinton.
Today it is not possible to determine how many millions have been spent by privately held companies like The Washington Free Beacon, America Rising, Burning Glass Consulting and Citizens United to discredit Hillary Clinton.
Back then, the Arkansas Project ended up a failure. In spite of innumerable attempts to force Bill Clinton out of office, he finished his term, and left office in a country that was in far better shape than it had been before his tenure.
Its legacy proved enduring, though. Last year, every one of those old slanders was unearthed and spread around with the greatest of zeal by the rabid supporters of Bernie Sanders, paving the way conveniently for Donald Trump’s Crooked Hillary attacks. The Arkansas Project cast its shadow over that entire chapter of last year’s debacle of an election. It has also provided a permanent and ever-growing repository of ammunition, used to effect by the revived partnership of mass media and fundamentalism, in the form of Rush Limbaugh and other celebrities of conservative talk radio in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.
Those radio shows, which provide daily lessons in the art of propaganda, have done as much to eat away at the fabric of democracy as any other single factor within the last forty years. They gathered in strength and reach across the nation all through the Clinton presidency. Combined with the entering of Fox News and Rupert Murdoch into the game, the conservative media provided the Republicans with a potent weapon, one they would use to clear effect in 2000.

The US 2000 presidential election was the triumph of media over mind and matter.

To an objective observer, two facts are clear: Clinton’s Vice-President Al Gore won the nationwide popular vote, and according to a recent Miami Herald analysis, he was also in all likelihood the favorite of Florida voters as well.

In a fair count, without cheating or election irregularities, and leaving aside Ralph Nader, the Miami Herald estimated Gore would have won Florida by 23,000 votes. The Bush strategy all along was to prevent a recount and run out the clock.

Jeb Bush, the brother of the Republican candidate for president, George W. Bush, was also the governor of Florida. He was a key component in the plot to steal the Florida election on behalf of his brother. If not for Jeb, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia would never have had the chance to cast that fateful vote on behalf of Bush.

The impropriety of that decision was obvious even to the members of the court.  That is why they passed a second ruling, that the decision used in the process used to block Gore’s final recount could never be used again, as a legal precedent for any future cases.

The Bush era is when most of us millennials entered the story. Many of us remember the new heights of indecency and state-sanctioned lying reached on nearly a daily basis. The disinformation campaign that’s been used on us by the GOP since the Nixon era was taking a terrible toll by this point. The people didn’t know who to believe, and they didn’t know who to trust. It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that this did a great deal to soften us up for the Russian disinformation machine.

The Republicans know that the only strength the people have is in their numbers. If they can make sure the left doesn’t work together, they can pick us off one by one. Karl Rove and the Republican Party know this very well. It has been a tactic of rulers since the days of Rome and before.

And so, both in 2000 and in 2004, the Republicans used a man named Ralph Nader, then the Green Party of the U.S.’s (G-PUS) candidate for president, to divide the left and hamstring the Democratic candidates.

We were to see those techniques again, as they were used to cheat Hillary Clinton from her rightful place in the White House. Jill Stein, the milkwater replacement of Nader in the G-PUS, and Paul Manafort were both attendees at that infamous meeting with Putin in Russia.

Al Gore was a highly principled and competent man, but he lacked the drive for victory that Bill Clinton had, and he lacked the necessary vigor to withstand the ferocity of Republican greed. Bush got into office, and spent his time there dragging his country so deeply through the mud that it still has yet to be seen whether or not we can recover.

The next four years changed everything for America.

When Bill Clinton left office, the country had a balanced budget and even a surplus. That was gone within ten months, nine of which had been very quiet. Bush hunted armadilloes, hung out at Camp David, and agreed to read My Pet Goat to some kindergartners.

Then 9/11 hit.

September 11, 2001.

The strange circumstances surrounding that cataclysmic and unlikely disaster will be debated for as long as people walk this earth, and it is not our purpose to look deeply into the mysteries surrounding. We will stick to what we know for sure. Regardless of its causes, George Bush used the biggest foreign assault our nation has ever been victimized by to pass some of the most invasive and insidious legislature ever conceived.

The War on Terror has mostly come and gone, but the domestic effects of the Patriot and Homeland Security Acts will be with us until the end. A war in Afghanistan was started, which we are still fighting. And then Bush used all the nation’s rage to finish a job that his father had started, the rousting of Saddam Hussein from the apex of the power structure of Iraq. By 2003, we were at war in Iraq. By 2004 it was clear we were in big trouble. Nothing else mattered in 2004, except getting George W. Bush out of office.

However, when the election finally came around, an election so crucial that a movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 was made about the slovenly evils committed by the Republican candidate Bush, an unbelievable amount of different things went wrong. Half of the six million people living abroad, for example, got their ballots too late to vote. Malfunctioning machines mysteriously failed to properly register a presidential vote on more than 20,000 ballots.

All in all, nationwide, according to the federal commission charged with implementing election reforms, as many as 1 million ballots were spoiled by faulty voting equipment – roughly one for every 100 cast. But what is most anomalous about the irregularities in 2004 was their decidedly partisan bent. Almost without exception they hurt John Kerry and benefited George Bush. Robert Kennedy Jr. wrote at the time, “After carefully examining the evidence, I’ve become convinced that the president’s party mounted a massive, coordinated campaign to subvert the will of the people in 2004.”

In 2008, the anti- Clinton machines to the right and the left geared back up for another battle. A lot of the same old smears were employed by the Obama campaign, as well as the new tactic of associating her with big business and Wall St. Hillary Clinton called at the time for higher regulations on Wall St. Their decision to side against her cost her the presidency.

As 2009 began, the same juggernaut of lies was employed consistently during her tenure as Secretary of State, most notably in the drumming up of unimportant nonsense like Benghazi and email servers. None of it did them much good with Obama in office. Romney was a joke in 2012. Obama’s reign, hateful as it was to the racist fascist network, was secure.

During the eight years of his tenure, the GOP was to reach heights of total desperation. Outlets like Breitbart and Fox News were a help, but on their own they would never have been enough. It’s only once you factor in RT and Sputnik and the Russians that you can see they had a chance, and this is what led to the devil’s bargain in 2016 that Robert Mueller is now closing in on.

The continuing radicalization of the GOP has now been amply documented for 120 years. Scholars, party insiders, and any human being who has ever set foot in Virginia can all bear witness to that.

The decent and moderate conservatives of the old school, who meant the word in the sense of conservation, who once played such a key role in the enactment of civil rights and environmental legislation, have gone the way of the dinosaur.

Rich and poor alike, the Republican Party of today, as in the 1920’s, is overwhelmingly reactionary. They are strongly opposed to doing business with their Democratic counterparts, and will hamstring them any way they can.

Republicans know perfectly well that when people vote for them, they are voting against their own interests. The day people realize that is the day the GOP stops winning elections. So they have developed an entire playbook of dirty tricks, with which to demoralize the Democratic base and suppress the vote as much as possible. Every time you hear someone say that they don’t vote, because their vote doesn’t matter, you have heard an example of their strategy working.

Republicans have fewer adherents every year, but they have two major factors on their side; a fanatical base willing to carry out the dirty tricks, and the greediest billionaires to finance them. They deceive good people by appealing to their worst instincts. raising the red flag of abortion and gay marriage to divert attention away from their arrogant and greedy policies which cause the poverty, war and pollution we are facing today.

2016 proved once and for all that there is no trick too dirty and nothing too low for the Republicans, who went so far as to collude with Russia, our biggest global rival, rather than see another Democrat in the White House.

In 2016, extremists on both ends of the political spectrum did a great deal to spread around the notion of a moral equivalency between the two parties. They say it doesn’t matter who you vote for, because the President doesn’t really run the country anyway. They say it doesn’t matter who you vote for, because all politicians are corrupt, They say the system is broken, that it can’t be fixed, and that the right thing to do is just stand back aloof from the whole mess until it collapses under its own weight.

Those ideas are paid for by the Republicans, who are only too happy to keep right along tightly controlling the “broken” system. Votes matter tremendously. They’re the only power we have. That’s why the Koch network and others spend so much money every year to keep us from being able to use them.

The new development is for the GOP to link hands with its ideological allies in Russia, who have developed the same sorts of ideas to their most logical conclusions. Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, who is now an exile in London for the crime of having run against Putin in a supposedly democratic election, summed it up best by saying that comparing America’s approach to the management of its global affairs against modern-day Russia’s is like comparing the work a surgeon does to Jack the Ripper. Both of them cut people open, but that is where the similarity ends. Certainly that was true during Obama’s reign, but the future of everything has been thrown into uncertainty by the hacking of our election and the coming to power of Donald Trump.

Democrats have found ourselves beset on many sides, with no control in any branch of government and facing the most terrible international and domestic threats through the disastrous medium of Trump. Knowing the extent of our domestic paralysis, and encouraged by the failure of the West to respond when they annexed the Crimea from Ukraine, it is all too likely the Russians may attempt another seizure of formerly Soviet-dominated areas, daring the West to respond once again.

Last month, they moved tens of thousands of troops, plus accompanying artillery and air support, unsettlingly close to Baltic borders, in what they have labeled “strategic war exercises”, and given the name of the Zapad War Games. In the same week, it came out that over one hundred United States power stations are infected with the very same Stuxnet virus used to turn the power off in Ukraine in 2014, just before Crimea was taken.

In the meantime, the Syrian Civil War is winding down. Assad and the Russians won, while the rebels we were supporting were left to their fate. North Korea is firing rockets over Japan, and instead of entering talks with them Trump is exchanging schoolyard insults with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il on the floor of the United Nations. The rest of the world is watching. It’s become painfully clear that things with the Party of Trump have gone terribly awry.

Going forward, we have got to find a way to reveal and highlight the fundamental fact of this whole series. A tremendous amount of social illness in this country is directly attributable to an imported and organized fascist network that has infiltrated and radicalized the Republican Party.

The long road to tyranny is a slippery slope, and one without organized mile markers. None of this has happened overnight, and it won’t be fixed overnight either. It’s hard to dig your way back out of a hole, especially when that hole is 120 years deep. But it is incumbent upon us to undertake this task, nonetheless. This is our country, for better or worse, and stranger things have happened. Victories have been won against worse odds.

Recognizing the problem is the first step. The one positive of 2016 is that many people have awoken to the general plot. The Republican Party has become an impediment of colossal and vicious proportion. Ohio Governor and 2016 GOP Presidential candidate John Kasich said on Sunday that unless the Republican Party reforms, he can no longer continue to support it.

Hard as it may be for Mr. Kasich to accept, it’s too late to reform the GOP. But it’s not too late to learn from its example. We still have time to reform the country.

Over this series, we took a look at the hole the GOP has been digging for itself. We have learned why it is time to remove the Republican stumbling block from our path. Moving forward, we’ll be taking a closer look at the fascist network we’ve been making reference to, who they are, and where they came from.

By shining light on cockroaches, you make them skitter for cover. It’s the same with Nazis. We’re going to turn over the rocks they’ve been hiding under. By exposing their plots, networks, and strategies, we will truly #MakeNazisAfraidAgain. Fascism and democracy are incompatible, like mold and fungus. Democracy cannot live, where fascism is thriving. To save the  America that our ancestors lived and died in, we have got to see this through to the very end.
