One Word: Impeach.

One Word: Impeach.

One Word: Impeach.

Well, here we go, America! Hold on to your hats. For the day has finally come to aim our biggest cannon at the biggest crook to ever disgrace the presidency. Donald Trump has been an embarrassment and a burden for too long. For years now, we have stood behind the national leadership and help tamp down talk of impeachment as too divisive and too risky. Nancy Pelosi is announcing the formal impeachment inquiry as these words are being written.

We are going to impeach Donald Trump.

We have never been for this before, even though it was clear we had enough to impeach him on before he came to office. It’s because we didn’t just want to wing him, in the terminology of a hunter. If it came to this- and most of us have suspected that it would from the beginning- we wanted to drop him good, and to do it with ammunition made by the man himself. Impeachment is the biggest cannon there is, and we are readying it to fire.

Donald Trump is a crook. He’s always been a crook. It’s all he knows how to be, is a crook. His father was a Klansman and his grandfather a pimp. So this thing with trying to get Ukraine to do something crooked, to threaten to withhold military aid if they would not help him do more crooked things, in this case disgustingly trying to label Joe Biden’s son as corrupt- because he thinks Biden’s going to beat him, as do we- It’s just kind of par for the course, these days.

That is the biggest reason of all why we have for America’s sake to impeach him.

And by the way, Joe Biden just announced that he agrees. Democrats from all across the spectrum, for the first time, progressives and socialists and John K. Delaney and all, are going to unite and get rid of this man.

They talk about the ‘bar having been lowered’ for Trump. Man, just look around you! That bar got blasted out of God’s creation. There IS no more bar! For any of us. The system has broken down, says Susan Rice on CNN. No one disagrees. America has lost touch with a sane reality because of this man, and so has the rest of the world. Children are doing more drugs because of the stress of the era given his name. People are hating their lives.

Truth itself has lost its meaning in this country because of this man. We’re descending into Bolshevism. Our system is looking more and more like one of these new hybrid variants of National Socialism. The teachings of our parents are losing meaning. We can’t let this go on.

Donald Trump has simply got to go.

The World Freedom Index says we’re no longer a democracy. We’ve got children in dog cages screaming for their parents. Trump recently said he’d pardon anyone who helped him build the wall illegally. Robert Mueller tried to tell us; his report stated blatantly that if Trump were not the president, he would have been charged with obstruction of justice for sure.

He also told us that Trump welcomed another country’s blatant theft of our electoral privacy and expected to benefit from what they did on his behalf at the behest of Vladimir Putin the awful dictator, and to the rest of Earth.

There comes a point to say enough is enough, and we’ve been living inside of it, like the center of a dartboard, since the day he took the oath. We’ve lost our values. It’s been like trying to hold back a flood. We are beset on every level, all the time. Enough of the stirred-up white nationalism; we will never forget how your bull and air of anything-goes chaos stunk up the country and got our sister Heather Heyer killed by Nazis at Charlottesville.

Enough of the sucking up to dictators. We weren’t happy to see John Bolton come, but we also were not happy to see him go, at least not like that, fired on Twitter in your usual moronic style. We do NOT want the Taliban stinking up Camp David, we don’t want any of it. We all have had enough of your schtick since The Apprentice, forget about now. We’ve been following it all since the beginning, and although the list is far from complete, I remember writing about all of it very well.

Let’s take a walk down Memory Lane, Donald, shall we? I’m the Ghost of Christmas Past.

You brought Steve Bannon into the National Security Council, Donald, and gave him a look at the classified information of our country. Who could forget you brought Omarosa along, speaking of The Apprentice? When they dragged her out kicking and screaming, she left with a briefcase of data, and she slammed your crooked behind for the pig you were- and are.

John Kelly, a formerly respected four-star general (before he lied for you and called Maxine Waters a liar, on your behalf, since you told a grieving military parent that your son knew what he was getting into, and then offered her money), got rid of Omarosa and Bannon, but sometime later you fired him for calling you an idiot. That’s also what happened to H.R. McMaster, James “Mad Dog” Mattis, and Rex Tillerson, the other supposed ‘adults in the room’.

I mean, if you’re an American, you don’t know whether to laugh or to cry.

You let a Chinese spy go wandering around the Mar-a-Lago, where you sometimes discuss nuclear secrets. That trial is stalled, by the way; they’re calling it an Underwear Blunder. Jesus God.

You refused to close down immigration ports during Hurricane Harvey, the same day you pardoned Joe Arpaio; what a slap in the face. you never made sure the people of Puerto Rico have had clean water, ever since. There’s another flood there now, and all over the newspapers are pictures of thousands of drinking water bottles. In the richest country in the world. Forget about the people of Flint, Michigan; they’re mostly black anyway, right?

Or Native Americans, like the Wampanoags who gave us Thanksgiving, and had their tribal status revoked by Donald Trump right before last year’s Thanksgiving. They don’t like clean water either, apparently. Remember all the protests over the Standing Rock pipeline, because of how bad it was going to screw up the water of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe? I Stand With Standing Rock? That pipeline went through, and no longer in the news often is the story of how they’re going to double it.

It’s all become typical. And that’s revolting. Three years ago, it felt like we were really getting someplace. (Thank you, Bernie or Bust).

None of the things we were fighting for in the Obama era are still getting coverage. We lost every one of those battles the day Trump was elected. It’s too painful to talk about for most of us. Remember the national outcry over police brutality? Where did that go? There have been many Trayvon Martins dead during the Trump era, but there are too many other horrors in the news for the likes of Saheed Vassell to get much coverage, even if the Stephon Clarks get a few days- as do the daily mass shootings like the one at Parkland High School down in Florida.

It has all but ceased to matter because we’re holding on for our dear lives. The greatest hope we had has been Joe Biden, and it still is. But now we’ve got another way going as well, a more direct way, reflective in every way of what a good crook deserves. We needed to wait for something ironclad to come along and tie all these atrocities together, and now it has. We’re pleased to announce that Nancy Pelosi is about to give the people what they want. Here at Millennial Democrats, we rejoice in our hearts that the day has finally come.

Impeach the filthy animal.

Millennial Democrats would like to collectively thank the brave Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who stood tall under terrible pressure and held the line when the tidal wave of corruption worldwide came to swallow him. He stands on the mouth of a chasm now, and our prayers are with him. God has fought beside many brave men who resisted, and he stands with all of us now. We would also like to thank the brave, anonymous, credible whistleblower who has gone the path of Deep Throat, who helped Washington Post reporters take down Richard Nixon, whose spectre raised its ugly head between the shoulders of Roger Stone during the heart of the Russiagate scandal. All the worst people and tendencies in our country have been dancing like devils on the streets, cavorting with indecency on our screens and on our streets. It is time we got our sanity back, and today, we announce we’re going to take it.

Far-Right Resignations in Austria & Elsewhere- Rats Jump Off Putin’s Sinking Ship.

Far-right Austrian minister caught conspiring with Russia resigns.

The Austrian government has purged itself of would-be far-right Nazis, who were diligent enough to resign en masse. Every far-right Freedom Party minister in the Austrian government has resigned. Austria’s Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache was the first to go. He resigned on May 18 over a scandal he caused while colluding with Russia to subvert his nation’s government. They caught him on a sting tape.

Unfortunately for Mr. Strache, his transgression appeared over the weekend in a video from 2017. He probably wasn’t very happy to be watching it. It showed him on the Spanish island of Ibiza, offering government contracts to a woman who claimed to be the niece of a Russian oligarch. Strache’s party has a cooperation agreement with Russian president Vladimir Putin, just like Marine Le Pen of France did.

These countries, in our opinion, should not just let the Russians do whatever they want in their electoral system, which I have always disliked, but it does seem to help them not get taken off guard by this kind of thing. They’re used to it, and it’s not unexpected.

Strache is gone, which is both positive and sadly ironic. It’s sad he was allowed in that position in the first place. Austria is where Adolf Hitler was actually from, not Germany. It’s positive because, well, anytime there are fewer Nazis someplace, that’s positive. This, we can accept on faith as an axiomatic statement. But it’s sad at the same time, because, well, how quickly we forget! In Germany proper, you’re not allowed to go around spouting Nazi filth anymore. They’ll stick you in a cell for that, although it’ll be in a prison, not a death camp. Why not in Austria? In fact, why not everyplace? A prison is a great place for Nazis in any country.

They should be very grateful that not all of the rest of us are just like them. If we were they’d all be dead.

Getting back on topic, my guess is that what we saw Strache doing on that tape is something he knew full well was illegal, not just something “dumb”, like he tried to say on his way out the door. It was for the same reason I think Paul Manafort never left America, although of course, that is speculative.

He didn’t think his alt-right team was going to lose.

Keep in mind, this was 2017. The alt-right had it all back then. Trump was in office over here, having just begun his term. German chancellor, the interim head of the free world Angela Merkel was being severely attacked by that nation’s alt-right primarily by the Free Democratic Party(FDP). These were the chief culprits, of course. But Merkel was also besieged from a different angle, through Martin Schulz, a far-left, Putin-backed and financed candidate who was called the “Bernie Sanders of Russia“.

The list goes on. Marine Le Pen was still giving Macron a hard time in France. and Austrian far-right leader Norbert Hofer came closer to winning a major election than any far-right candidate has since the end of World War II. All over Europe and elsewhere, far-right militarists who were friends of Putin began taking power. Jinping Xi of China, whose state capitalist system is a more efficient version of the Russians, back then called Putin his “most closest, most dearest friend”.

Certainly, the momentum was there, and they were, for a day, riding the crest of a swastika’s black, white, and red wave. The colors were to replace those of America. They wanted this and dreamed about it, and they thought Putin would be able to get it for them. They even manipulated unwitting dupes of the far left on board with ripping up Democrats

Viewed in this context, of course members of Austria’s far-right would be open to cooperating with Russia. Why wouldn’t they be? They thought he was going to build them a new world, one they’d be on top of. Le Pen summed up their viewpoint very well, hailing him as the herald of what she said was a “stone in the building of a new world destined to replace the old one.” She flicked her wrist around the room with the utmost contempt, as if to indicate what Trump would soon be washing away.

Not long after, one of their guys, a nameless trash can killed a girl named Heather Heyer at a now-infamous rally in Charlottesville, Virginia by running her down with a van, and they all cheered about it, and marched around afterward harassing those who prepared a quiet candle vigil for her. It made them feel strong, to murder a woman. Trump told them they were “very good people” and said not a word about what he had done.

How strong do you chumps feel now?

That was all before the FBI arrested George Papadopoulos and kicked in Michael Cohen‘s door, though. Once they arrested Paul Manafort, and still Trump used his pardoning power on no one but Joe Arpaio, the sadistic Arizona sheriff who built concentration camps in the desert for the prisoners of Phoenix, they must have gotten to thinking.

Every time a member of the alt-right has second thoughts about putting their ideology higher in their value system than their behinds and bails, they inspire a few more of their buddies to join them. One by one, and finally in droves, their “brothers” and them all disappeared. Every one of them was a crack in the reservoir for Putin. Now that guys like Strache are actually resigning because of things he made them do, we can look for that crack to widen rapidly.

Sooner or later, that levee’s going to break.

As soon as the incels and other alt-rightists all see that he can’t protect them, they’ll realize they only have three choices, like in the Choose Your Own Adventure books we millennials read as little kids. There are all kinds of different ways to go at first, but sooner or later they all run together, and then there’s only a few, leading to the same three options every time.

Failure, success, or death.

These guys have seen now that Putin is not going to usher in the new world order. He can’t even keep Russia’s roads up, and even Hitler did that. He’s got a lot of money and Russia’s military is not completely worthless, but compared to the titanic might of the United States he’s just a paper tiger. Our guys can rip him up any time they feel like it, and now all these pretenders are starting to know it.
Given that, there are only three adventures to choose from. And we know how they end.
They can be George Papadopoulos, a young guy with six months in the can and his life back together already, mistake learned from and in the past. Or they can be Paul Manafort, nearly seventy years old and sentenced to seventeen years in prison with two other cases pending, undoubtedly with massive penalties to follow as well
As judges and juries tend to love their countries as much as others do, it’s not unreasonable for a guy like that to be frightened about what they’re going to do to them. Even if you’re a fair-minded professional, it’s hard not to hate a traitor. As famed Roman orator Cicero said, “A murderer is less to be feared”. We refrain from harboring that hatred for our own sakes, not for theirs, and they know it.
These are all the reasons why, by 2018, the alt-right was dead worldwide. Over. Remember the American ones, the guys who ran r/the_donald on Reddit? Their leaders took their money and were gone like the wind.
Richard Spencer, for example. We all remember him. I’ve got an anecdote about this one. A former alt-right individual whose name I promised not to reveal had had some second thoughts and wrote into us one day on Facebook in a message that was then sent over to me. He spent a lot of time with me one afternoon, ripping up his former pals. Spencer was brought up specifically, by him. He said, and I quote with permission, “Here’s what I have to say to anybody following Spencer. That guy is a predator known for seducing the wives of all his comrades. He beats his own wife, according to her. You think he cares about you?”
Needless to say, Spencer joined known pedophile and NAMBLA advocate Michael Cernovich in being among notable alt-right figures who did not show back up in Virginia for the trial.
In the immortal words of 50 Cent, “Damn, homey! In high school you was the man, homey!
What the f*** happened to you??”
Those guys really thought they were something, all right, as if they were going to be an army of stormtroopers. Back then they thought they were about to see the whole lousy discard called American democracy go down in flames, lit up by Trump as Hitler did before him. As a private citizen, I did think they might try for some lousy publicity stunt as they did back then, coming to mock the family of the victim, and to stand without permission on the white race’s behalf to embrace a murderer, the nameless trash can who killed Heather Heyer in Charlottesville.  I try not to dwell on that day.
I remembered his name long enough to glance up when I saw he was up for sentencing a while ago. I read the article, but even before, I didn’t have to wonder if his “brothers” in the movement would show up to show support for him, guys like that never do. The only one there was his mother, God bless her undoubtedly tortured soul. I read that alt-right hero “Baked Alaska” was called, reminded of the upcoming sentencing date, and asked if he was going to show up to support that little psychopath.
Mr. Alaska’s comments on the subject were nothing less than classic. They involved profanity, the word “murderer”, and “I’m out by the pool.”
Finally comes Adventure Three, which ends a bit sooner than the other two. If Manafort and Papadopoulos won’t do, they can stay out on the streets, and end up being Jimmy Hoffa (notorious Teamster union boss who’s been missing for decades. Experts believe the mob disappeared him for becoming a liability. He knew too much, and the bosses probably didn’t feel like they could chance it. What he knew could have buried them- so they buried him instead.
A stubborn old man may not have much to fear in prison. If you’re an alt-right slimebag like Roger Stone who is playing at having honor among thieves and refused to snitch like Cohen and Georgie P., then by this time you know full well that you’ve decided to be Manafort.
At that point, you had better stop and think: How much do they trust me?
If the answer is Not enough, I’m going to be Hoffa long before I can get to Papadopoulos.

All those guys are thinking about this and weighing the equation in their minds. The jig is up, and they know it. Putin was a long shot from the first, but for a while all his rubles made them forget what they now are remembering in earnest- that it’s not going to happen for them and they know it. Now they’re remembering something else, too, something that people in mobs tend to forget.

When I get home tonight, I’ll still be just one man.

Sooner or later, this is going to backfire horribly on Putin, who has been a disaster for Russia. The country is in poverty while he and his pals fly around on private jets holding rallies on American soil. He got them sanctioned heftily, they can’t do business in America, and there’s only so much borscht you can eat.

If you’re a Nazi who’s looking for a job in politics, your prospects are looking pretty thin. All is not lost, though. We’re feeling generous today. So out of a sense of general human charity, a thing no Nazi can understand or legally display in their type of political system, we got something lined up for you, at least in the way of advice. Get out now, before it’s too late. Because if you don’t, it will be too late. And when this is all over, you are going to be cast out.
If you really want to hurt Democrats and help Putin and Trump, we can tell you how to do it in three words.

Bombs Sent to Democratic Leaders- Fascism Rising in America.

Fascism is on the rise in the Trump era.

Despicable cowards tried to murder all our greatest Democratic leaders today.

Having typed that sentence, I could finish the article here. Sometimes the facts argue themselves; that sentence and a headline tell you all you need to know about this whole situation, something the whole nation ought to be outraged about.

Pipe bombs were sent to Hillary Clinton in New York and Barack Obama in Washington.

A similar device was sent to philanthropist and lifelong enemy of fascism George Soros, according to the pair of law officers who gave the statement. How rotten, to do a thing like this to that old man, a man who lost his parents to the Holocaust.

Way to pay back a guy for his lifetime of good works by making him the center of a million nutty theories(for example, we do not write for Soros, no matter how many times we are reviled for it) and then sending him a bomb. We are living in a country full of real sickos. That much has become all too clear.

More bombs were sent to CNN, forcing the evacuation of its NYC offices. CNN journalists courageously kept the cameras rolling from the Manhattan sidewalk below.

Bombs were also sent to Eric Holder, former Obama administration Attorney General, former CIA director James Brennan, former DNC chairman and Floridian Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida, and Representative Maxine Waters all received bombs as well. If the guy who did it would not have been such a slob, we’d have lost all our leaders today.

This newest violence is the response to Trump’s big “I’m a (white) nationalist” crap the other day. He’s been doing this all along.

Donald Trump has been inciting his followers to violence for years. He smirked during the debates as he made reference to the Second Amendment, and how “maybe there is something you can do,” a clear incitement to political assassination!

The GOP statement deploring violence is just another sickening deplorable lie. It makes no sense to believe them. The right wing wants us dead. They’ve been out for physical, literal blood for years, at least since Barack Obama’s election.

They will never, ever forgive the people who dared to put a black man in a White House.

Recently the founder of a right-wing gang with a name that does not merit mention came out with a video inciting Trump supporters to violence. “We will kill you,” he says in the video segment, which went viral. Murdering swine.

The first article this blog ever published was called Chaos in Charlottesville, written in response to the sickening lowlife who murdered Heather Heyer, a disgusting footnote to the modern era- like these bombs. Or James T. Hodgkinson, the wingnut Bernie Sanders supporter who shot up the Congress last year.

Here we could care less if you’re wearing a red shirt or a black one. We are against all those who hide behind masks to go smash things up. It’s not the American way to bash brains in on the streets instead of voting. Foreign radicalism has never taken deep root here, which means socialism, communism, and most of all fascism- until now.

Make no mistake. These days, fascism is rearing its head. “We will kill you…”

It is our opinion that people should stop taking the survival of American democracy for granted.

We are not invincible. It can happen here, “it” meaning a fascist takeover. Trump, to all appearances, is actively signaling “it”, and his followers are preparing for it. And they are making progress like no right-wing nationalist has since Adolf Hitler.

We have got to get people to realize that we have got to wake up now, or we could end up flat on our backs for the rest of our lives- or worse.

If Nazi Germany was reborn today on American soil, it would be us all to suffer.

Some as members of unwanted groups, some as political prisoners. Some of us would go to American style Dachau type camps, while others will be forced into silence or shot. They would take all our data off of Facebook and use it to round us up. These things have happened elsewhere. It is time to ask ourselves the question, What if?

The Republicans have been gradually going down this road for more than a hundred years. Why should we assume it’s impossible for them to succeed? The Founding Fathers feared this above all else- the evils of faction, shredding a nation’s fiber.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we’ve been covering all this since the start. We have seen this develop, we have spoken out at every turn. We will be here as long as we can, spreading the word and raising awareness.

This is our country, which we value and love. We will not abandon her.

Charlottesville One Year Later- Heather Heyer, Rest In Peace.

Our sister, Heather Heyer, who became a martyr to the cause. We shall overcome.

It was a year ago that Millennial Democrats published our first piece, written in anguish after the senseless and cowardly murder of our sister, Heather Heyer, who was not even mentioned by the orange malignance in the White House, upon this solemn first anniversary of her passing. She deserved better.

In August 2017, white supremacist demonstrators and counterprotesters squared off in violent clashes over an old war statue in Charlottesville, site of the University of Virginia. The conflict culminated in the death of Heather Heyer, 32, when the vicious murderer James Alex Fields Jr. purposely drove his car into a crowd of counterprotesters.

While speaking at the anniversary of Heather’s death on Saturday, Trump condemned “all types of racism and acts of violence,” an insincere and half-hearted improvement from last year. He failed even to mention her name.

What he didn’t do, like telling these people and their values they are not welcome and never will be, speaks in volumes. Loudly.

He did nothing to discourage Sunday’s “Unite the Right 2” white nationalist rally, meant essentially to celebrate the death of Heather Heyer, has Washington bracing for conflict of the type that turned lethal last year.

Predicted for the rally’s attendance are about 400 demonstrators are expected in Lafayette Square, a park adjacent to the White House. More than 1,500 counter-protesters plan to gather at various downtown locations, including in the same park.

Back then, Trump refused even to condemn her murderers, choosing rather to assign blame equally for both sides. He also said there were very fine people on both sides, as if there was no difference. Kids will be kids, and all.

However, it was not members of the anti-racist protestors whose social media accounts included posts espousing white supremacy. We also didn’t drive any vans into their crowd and kill them.

One side was made up of Nazi killers who were only even in Charlottesville to make trouble with their lousy rally.

The other was made up of good-hearted people who want to see the human race make progress and are willing to stand up for it. That is good, because we will all have a lot of standing up to do, especially tomorrow.

Things might get rough out there, and law enforcement is desperate to avoid another Charlottesville. That is also important to us and to any healthy society.

That is also why it is necessary here to take an unequivocal stand against any members of the left who turn to destruction. We cannot emphasize this strongly enough.

Senseless violence can never be a good answer to anything. Specifically, we need to stay calm because if we don’t, the right will revile us endlessly and moderates will turn to conservatives. Every such incident will haunt us all. Violence has to be avoided if we do not want to move any further down the path to another Civil War.

In closing, we would like to implore our readers and Democrats everywhere to stay calm tomorrow, no matter what happens.  Stay calm, keep in your ranks, and sing your songs loudly and well. Regardless of our geography, every decent person in the world is sending our best hopes and wishes alongside you.

On Independence- The Fourth of July in the Trump Era.

Best wishes on the Fourth of July, America!

Today is the Fourth of July, our second in the Trump era, and it’s worth taking a look at what that means.

The Fourth is the day we celebrate both our first Continental Congress’s unanimous approval of the resolution for independence from Great Britain and their approval of the Declaration of Independence two days later on July 4, 1776.

In the beginning, reasonable people sat in Philadelphia and declared their unwillingness to be subject to an authoritarian rule, due in no small part to the conduct of their mentally fragile and dangerously unfit ruler, Mad King George the Third.
Since then, Independence Day has become not just a date but an idea.

The architects who built our nation put lifetimes worth of effort, planning, and design into the framework we all now live within, and it’s a good thing they did.

In the age of the would-be dictator presently occupying the White House, we find the United States Constitution, the blueprint provided to us by our founders for the maintenance of that system, under assault at every turn.

It’s not all barbecues and fireworks out there today. There’s a lot of people who aren’t feeling independent at all, and there are others who’ve been stripped of their independence by a United States government that has grown cold and callous and stupid under the reign of Donald Trump.

It’s worse than we thought it would be, or at least just as bad. Charlottesville and the death of Heather Heyer hadn’t happened yet by this time last year, the Supreme Court hadn’t allowed itself to be corrupted by enforcing Trump’s stupid travel ban, and above all, there were not thousands of children locked in cages on our southern border.

That last has thrown our country into turmoil without precedent. We get some reminder every day. Earlier today, for example, a woman in New York City was arrested for attempting to scale the Statue of Liberty on a free-climb.durning the anti-ICE protests.

Do not ever underestimate the lengths to which people will go for freedom. Whether it’s our own or someone else, it doesn’t matter. Freedom is freedom. That means either everybody has it, or that no one really does.

The Trump era is not going to be the end of us. It’s going to be the end of the Republicans. This is a dying gasp from the forces of reaction. It’s a small bump in the road we have to surmount, on our way to doing away with Republicans and right-wing conspiracies that defy good sense and reason.
The Republicans have swallowed poison bait and are dead already. They just don’t know it yet. This is the last thing they are ever going to see.
Going forward, we’ve just got to make people understand. As long as we see to it with hard work and endurance, we’re going to win. We’re right there. We’ve just got to hold it together.
Right now, civil unrest has swept the country, but recent reports of a second Civil War beginning thankfully proved to be false, like every other word ever spoken by Alex Jones. All is far from lost.
It’s only if we give up and go back to sleep that we’re going to lose. If that happens we’ll never get back up again, but it isn’t forced. We’ve got to keep ourselves together and wait for our chance to counterattack and have faith that it will come.
Last year, I wrote that by this time next year, we’d be digging new trenches again, as we embark on the struggle to retake the Congress and go about the business of setting things back to right. That is indeed what we are doing now, and the stakes could not be higher. Independence will live on, but only if we insist.

Preserving the Dream- Martin Luther King Day in the Trump Era.

First MLK Day in the Trump Era

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday of special importance. It’s a day on which Americans come together, to mourn the passing of a man who gave his life for the betterment of mankind, and to celebrate the vitality of the magnificent dream he built his life around.

We celebrate our diversity on this day, together, because we know that’s really what makes America great. Variety is the spice of life.

Past years have seen American presidents take it seriously. In 1983 President Ronald Reagan signed a bill making Martin Luther King Jr. Day a federal holiday. Since then, US presidents have typically observed the holiday publicly, making remarks or attending events honouring the day.

Donald Trump spent his MLK Day at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The only event on the White House daily public schedule was the flight that brought him back to Washington in the afternoon.

Ultimately, it’s best he didn’t try, as anything he could possibly have said would have been a ludicrous falsehood. He’s said enough already.

” I’m not a racist,” Trump said, to a room full of reporters on Sunday. “I’m the least racist person you have ever interviewed.”

Whenever people go around talking about how not racist they are, they’re lying.

Trump also took the opportunity to further deny that he had used the term “shithole countries” to describe Haiti and a number of African nations, but everybody knows.

The problems with Trump’s attacks on persons who are not rich white men seems to grow bigger every day.

News outlets and social media accounts have been overflowing with reports of a whole variety of hate-fueled attacks. Slate.com catalogued 1064 such incidents of this kind to take place since last January.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has repeatedly criticized the president for his attitudes and conduct, categorizing the net of their emulation as “the Trump effect“.

It has called the syndrome a virus in our country. It has catalogued 1064 such incidents since Trump took office last November. Most Americans have heard of Charlottesville’s victim Heather Heyer by now. Sadly, she is far from being the only casualty.

Members of the Ku Klux Klan were arrested for stabbing three people in Anaheim, California.

Student Richard Collins III was killed by a white supremacist days before his graduation from the venerable HBCU Bowie State University. A man named Sean Urbanski walked up to him as he waited for an Uber with friends, and allegedly yelled, “Step left, step left if you know what’s best for you!” As this directive was not complied with, Urbanski stabbed Collins in the chest.

In other news, Cliven Bundy, the white rancher who decided to forcefully conquer government land a while back, was set free on Monday.  The incident didn’t lead to violence, but that’s only because President Obama happened to be a kindly man. They just turned off their electricity and waited until it got cold for them all to surrender, which they did.

It’s doubtful that even many Trump supporters would argue it would have happened the same way if Cliven Bundy and his followers were black.

During the eight years of the Obama presidency, we made progress in the field of anti-racism. But whenever progress is made, there’s always going to be a period of reaction. We are seeing a wave of reaction now that is very powerful.

Plainly stated, the deplorables will never forgive any one of us that voted for Obama. Those who dared to put a black man in a White House will be hated by this type for all eternity. Because no matter what they do, no matter what laws they unwrite or what executive orders they reverse, they can never go back in time and make it so that all of our Presidents were white again.

And that’s what it’s really all about. Ann Coulter said it with total candor, Adam’s apple bobbing like a cork in a wine bottle. Make America white again. That’s the great America the Trump supporters recall and want back. That’s what they thought was great about it.

It’s a sad thing.

At any rate, a new study has shown that support for Trump is correlated with a standard scale of modern racism.

A higher level of contact with diverse groups of people has been shown to reduce prejudice.

2016 study found that “the racial and ethnic isolation of white people at the zip-code level is one of the strongest predictors of Trump support.” As such, it’s important to note that Trump’s white supporters have experienced significantly less contact with minorities than other Americans.

This makes it much easier to fear and hate the people they consider outsiders. History has shown us where that goes.

On April 4, 1968, James Earl Ray stood in the bathtub of a shared bathroom, balanced his rifle on a window ledge and shot Martin Luther King Jr. dead, as the civil rights leader was standing on a balcony outside of his motel room.

The same animus that drove that hateful crime is alive and well and cavorting in the streets of today’s America. And it is getting stronger. Every day that malignant orange tumour is polluting the Oval Office is another day the problem gets worse.

However, we are not without recourse. By coming together in unity, by organizing, by refusing to accept, we can outlast any dictator. We’ve got to keep raising awareness, and we’ve got to keep speaking out.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Typical Trump Voters- What We’re Up Against.

Deplorables up to their gig

It’s election time again in 200 days. This is the year that #TheBlueWave washes across this country once and for all. And that means engagement with the public.

We have to reach out to the people all we can. We have to fight our hearts out for every last vote.

We’ve got to beat back hundreds of primary challenges nationwide from the so-called Justice Democrats. Without doing that we won’t make it to the real fight with a party that’s still blue. We’ve got to avoid pukey pea soup Libertarian green. And there’s only one way to do that.

We have to overwhelm the opposition with the strength and the logic of our argument.

The means by which we win this battle will be those which allow us to influence the information process the populace uses to make up their minds.

No one gets hurt or killed, and nothing is destroyed. The goal is to maintain our democracy without civil war.

We have to remain nonviolent, but prepared. The other side is crazy.

For example, one particularly pleasant fellow came onto the Millennial Democrats Facebook Page (Check us out! Join the debate) and threatened us with mass murder.

“Understand this Democrats”, he said, without using a comma, “If Trump gives the order I will kill as many of you as I can.”

When you looked at the guy, you saw a deeply unattractive and angry little guy. To say such a thing, to be focused on your own rage and desire for mayhem to that sick of an extent, you’ve got to be a very unhappy person.

One at a time, such people are pretty pitiful. But when they collect into large groups, with a wicked leader to guide them, they fill up death camps. That sort of viciousness cannot and will not be given a platform here in America.

At Millennial Democrats, we welcome dissent, and we welcome the chance to engage in a dialogue with people with every worldview, as long as they’re willing to be respectful and have an open mind.

Murdering savages will be excluded.

The foreign radicalism of the type that produced those events never took deep root here, and it’s our job to make sure it never does. Our eyes are open now.

We were defeated in the last election because nobody knew we’d be up against a foreign power.

Our message was sound, hopeful, and practical. We have only to alter a few techniques. We will adapt and strengthen ourselves so that we can do precisely that kind of thing to our enemy in the next war. If we understand them better than they understand us, we will always have the advantage.

For this reason, we’ve put some hours in, taking a look at the thinking process of the typical Trump voter.

There’s a number of serious personality dysfunctions keeping these poor people from living happy lives.

One common trait is called authoritarian personality syndrome, a well-studied and globally-prevalent condition among radical extremists. It refers to a worldview characterized by belief in total and complete obedience to the hierarchy of social order and one’s personal authority. It is rampant like a plague throughout Trump’s base.

Fearmongering demagogues create and exploit fear in those with the syndrome. In this way, they are able to depersonalize minority groups in the eyes of their constituents.

This is how Nazis are created. This is how the bedlam at Charlottesville got started off last summer. This is why Heather Heyer is dead.

A distinct but related dysfunction is called social dominance orientation, or SDO. This refers to people who have a preference for the social hierarchy of groups, specifically with a structure in which the high-status groups have dominance over the low-status ones.

Here’s an observation- People who spend a lot of time worrying about whether or not others are inferior to them are pathetic.

Don’t worry about your place in the social hierarchy, it isn’t important. Treat others well and do your best at every task you find in front of you. That is what matters.

Another reason to resent members outside the majority group is called relative deprivation. This refers to the discontent felt when one compares their position in life to others who they feel are equal or inferior but have unfairly had more success than them.

The old-fashioned word for it was jealousy. These days, we call it being a hater.

It’s become clear to everyone on both sides of the fence that the lines have been drawn. The age-old struggle between dictatorship and democracy is going to be fought yet again in this generation, and we have gotten good at it.

There are entire playbooks written on how to resist a tyrannical government like Trump’s is becoming. How to tell the difference between when to fight and get mad, and when to smile and hand a rose to the soldiers or police.

A new type of World War seems to be looming on the horizon, a sort of mass, worldwide Civil War, with populists from the right and left squaring off in numerous countries and across borders around the world.

This could be a conflict in which trenches are dug through backyards and in between houses. Nationalism has been and will be an excuse, but the struggle will transcend all ideological boundaries and sides will have to be taken.

Our nation will turn 242 on the Fourth of July.

Reasonable people sat in Philadelphia and declared their unwillingness to remain contentedly subject to an authoritarian command. Like us, they were driven to extremity by the hideous conduct of a mentally fragile and bipolar monarch.

America is not just a country. It is an idea. The first Americans fought a war, over what Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, called inalienable rights. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Of them all, the most important is freedom from tyranny. Not just from tyranny abroad, but also from any homegrown autocrat who might be lacking loyalty to all those who have fought and died to preserve this noble experiment. Going forward, we will have to redouble our efforts.

From Dictatorship to Democracy- Civil Disobedience For Dummies.

MLK

At home and abroad, in every conceivable way, Donald Trump’s eleven-month-old tenure in office has proven the worst shock the global order has received since 1945. His arrogance and narcissism are destabilizing the world, and other nations are being forced to take measures of caution. It stands to reason for us to do the same.

“Germany can no longer simply react to U.S. policy but must establish its own position…even after Trump leaves the White House, relations with the U.S. will never be the same.”

Those are the words of Germany’s top diplomat, informing the United States that they no longer see us as the allies we once were, saying that leadership from President Donald Trump has led Europe on a path toward nuclear war, a statement with which it is hard to argue.

The Middle East is in pandemonium thanks to his apparently random decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Palestine rose up instantly and declared three Days of Rage. And all humans everywhere looked upon their media devices in total and complete bewilderment.

After that prelude, there’s not much to add as to why it’s time to have this conversation. Martin Luther King said that we have a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Perhaps that will suffice.

The Founding Fathers built us a system that was designed specifically to resist totalitarianism, and it has given to us as citizens every advantage we enjoy. But it has been severely tested in recent years. Things aren’t going to manage themselves.
If we don’t want to see America become a dictatorship, we are going to have to fight for its democracy.
People were picked out at random for the uproar surrounding the Trump Tower protests on Inauguration Day last year. They are now facing sixty years in prison apiece, for minor acts of vandalism that nobody saw them commit.
It even apologized to the public for a statement made on November 18 of last year that it would “work with President-elect Trump” and his transition team.
“We understand that content from these press releases, including the 11/18/16 release that was posted in error, was interpreted as capitulating to and normalizing the incoming administration.” They realize now that is impossible.

This is going to cost a tremendous amount of time and money for them. It’s the most serious decision they could make. There is every reason to take heed and follow their example.

If you’re against Trump, and you don’t intend to shut up about it, then you are at risk in this country right now.

We are therefore going to be taking a close look at some of the most time-honoured and effective ways to keep the resistance and ourselves alive and healthy.

Especially for us millennials, who were not around during the big protests of the 60’s and 70’s, this information is critical. We’ve got to understand and master these techniques as soon as possible.

One crucial point to note is that showing up at large public protests like Charlottesville has become very dangerous.
We will never allow this crucial practice to be taken from us. But we have got to exercise the utmost caution when we use it. We’ve got to keep ourselves under control, and we’ve got to keep the moral high ground. The other guys are playing for keeps, and they’ve got all the guns.
Nonviolence is the only chance we have.
In keeping with this line of thought, we’re going to familiarize ourselves with political theorist and sociologist Gene Sharp’s From Dictatorship to Democracy.
This manual includes nearly 200 “Methods of Nonviolent Actions.” This is a comprehensive guide to tactics and strategies that have proven effective in transforming regimes more oppressive than the current US one.
There are five primary types of nonviolent resistance outlined in the manual. Protest and persuasion, social noncooperation, economic noncooperation, political noncooperation, and nonviolent intervention.
Protest and persuasion most commonly manifest under the category Sharp calls Formal Statements, e.g. public speeches or mass petitions. Martin Luther King and many others changed the world with their speeches. And petitions have been a way for the people to express their will for hundreds of years.
More recently, six days after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting left twenty six dead in 2012, President Obama responded directly to 33 petitions related to gun control laws.
Social noncooperation refers to ostracism strategies such as the social boycott levied against alleged child molester and Alabama Senatorial candidate Roy Moore recently.
Economic noncooperation involves two primary methods; the boycott, and the strike.
The boycott is an organized, large scale ban that forbids the purchasing of goods from the offending company. Earlier this year other members of the resistance against Trump organized an effort to boycott the department store chain Nordstrom’s because they were carrying Ivanka Trump’s shoe brands. Not long after, off the shelves they went.
A strike is a refusal to work. A body of fed up employees organize various tactics by way of protest, typically in an attempt to gain a concession or concessions from their employer.
Unions use strikes and other collective action as a bargaining chip to force employers to raise wages. This is why union workers get paid about 22 percent more than non-unionized workers.
People like the Koch Brothers have spent massive amounts of time and money to neutralize this power. They do this because they know they are guaranteed a massive return on their investment if they can forever break the backs of workers unions.
Next comes political noncooperation. One good example of this is the Rejection of Authority strategy. Many of us have made it clear right from Day One, without reservation, that Donald Trump is not our president. He has never been, and he will never be. So many of us feel that way that his presidency has been denormalized.
Lastly, nonviolent intervention is grouped into five subcategories. Psychological, physical, social, economic, and political. This category includes techniques such as the sit-in, or nonviolent land seizure. The latter method was employed by the American Indian Movement when they occupied Alcatraz in 1969.
All of the techniques we have outlined are the type of political activism we call direct action. They are still the biggest way to make a splash.
All of them are also extremely dangerous, and involve a great deal of personal risk. World-renowned journalist Anna Politovskaya was not murdered in Moscow for being a Hollywood blogger.
Virtual activism via the Internet has been invaluable as a way to keep our heads down, and pass through as much information as we can.
It is of great importance for us to do everything in our power to keep the opposition from knocking us offline and rendering us silent.
For this reason, we will also be developing a cursory familiarity with the two most basic and important ways to stay anonymous online.

These are known as the virtual private network, or VPN, and the Onion(Tor) Browser.

A VPN is a secure network connection through which you can safely connect your device to public networks, or create a secure channel for remote access control between computers.

TorProject.org gives the definition of the Tor Browser project as being “free software and an open network that helps you defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security.”

The best solution is to use VPN and Tor in conjunction.

Just log on through your VPN, and then do your stuff through Tor. It isn’t perfect, but it’s a whole lot better than nothing. As for chat, we have a first class (and free) encrypted chat program available to us in the app known as  Telegram.

Remember NOT to use Kaspersky’s antivirus, or anything Russian, under any circumstances.

The New York Times reported that Israel hacked Kaspersky and caught Russia using it to search for NSA exploits and other U.S. government classified programs.

We have not embarked upon this examination of civil disobedience lightly. Being the harbinger of awful news is not exactly pleasant. And most of us never really thought it could happen here. But we all read the words of the German Foreign Minister at the beginning of the article.  “West losing position.” “Things will never be the same.” “Nuclear war.” This is not mere alarmism.

We have no choice but to sorrowfully conclude that grievous misdeed on the part of the Trump administration cannot be ruled out, and that the threat to the foundations of our democracy is very real.

These events may well be the most fundamentally important of our entire generation. We do not intend to sit them out.

We are going to think of the situation in a fresh spirit, build on that new rhythm, and win through many different techniques. We are in the process of regrouping, and have full confidence. When we have finished, the #BlueWave we’ve been building will start gathering steam again. These are just a few bumps in the road to wash away.

Flynn’s Lawyers Shut Down Info Pipeline for Trump- Deal in the Works?

Flynn cuts off Trump

Michael Flynn’s attorneys have informed Donald Trump’s attorneys that they intend to stop sharing information concerning Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into improper Russian influence during the 2016 presidential election.

This notification is a likely signal that Flynn is negotiating a deal to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation, according to a Thanksgiving Day report by The New York Times.

Michael Flynn, who is a three-star general in the United States Army, is now best known for having held the office of National Security Adviser under the newly formed administration of Donald Trump. His 24-day tenure in office was the shortest in the office’s history.

After information surfaced that he had lied to Vice President Mike Pence about the nature and content of his communications with Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak Flynn was forced to resign, but that was not to be the last we would hear of him.

April 27, 2017 was a big day for Russia. It was the 10 year anniversary of the first day of their undeclared, “non-linear”, transnational world war. A decade before, in 2007, the Kremlin had proven its ability to warp and disable entire sections of cyberspace when they knocked the highly wired Estonia offline for several days over an old war soldier like the one of Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, where Heather Heyer was murdered by the alt-right this summer.

For the last decade, the rest of the European world has been dealing with this as it grew. Attempts to warn us have mostly fallen on deaf ears. Our opportunity to catch it early has already long passed us by. That’s what led to Trump getting in in the first place. But our eyes have opened. They’ve got our attention now.

On this day, the Pentagon’s Inspector General announced an investigation into whether Flynn had accepted money from foreign governments without the required approval, and requested that he preserve and make available all documents relating to that situation.

Initially, Flynn tried refusing to hand them over, citing the Fifth Amendment, saying that he didn’t want to incriminate himself. Apparently, that didn’t fly too far, because shortly thereafter it was announced that “a compromise had been reached.”

It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that anyone who’s talking like that already knows he’s guilty.

On December 10, 2015, Flynn attended a gala dinner in Moscow, in honour of the Russian news outlet RT (formerly “Russia Today”). After he retired from U.S. government service he made semi-regular appearances on RT as an analyst.

That dinner has since become infamous. Everyone who was there that night is in big trouble now, including Jill Stein of the Green Party. Paul Manafort, of course, is under indictment and sitting locked at home on house arrest.

Journalist Michael Crowley of Politico reported that “at a moment of semi-hostility between the U.S. and Russia, the presence of such an important figure at Putin’s table startled” U.S. officials. As part of the festivities, Flynn gave a talk on world affairs for which he was paid at least $45,000.

On Saturday, July 9, 2017, the first hard evidence of collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russians became a matter of public record. The New York Times reported Sunday that Donald Trump Jr., the president’s oldest son, was offered “damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign”.

Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort confirmed that they met with lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in Trump Tower on June 9, 2016— a mere two days after Clinton clinched the Democratic presidential nomination. It’s clear they acted fast. Donald Trump has proven himself to be a very dangerous man, and behind him stands Putin, the most dangerous man on Earth.

On February 1, 2017, the ranking Democratic members on six House committees sent a letter to Secretary of Defense James Mattis. The contents were a request for a Department of Defense investigation into Flynn’s connection to RT.

Our legislators had serious concerns about Flynn accepting so much money from RT, which was characterized earlier this year by the intelligence community of America as “The Kremlin’s principal international propaganda outlet”.

As a retired military intelligence officer, Flynn was required to obtain prior permission from the Defense Department and the State Department before receiving any money from foreign governments.

Flynn did not receive permission before the RT speech, and he did not report the payment when he applied for renewal of his security clearance two months later. Soon after Glenn Fine, the acting Defense Department Inspector General, confirmed that Flynn was under investigation

Earlier this month, reports indicated that Mueller believed he had enough evidence to bring charges in the investigation of Flynn. At that time, unidentified sources said Mueller was pressuring Flynn after issuing an indictment against Manafort.

During the interim, what does this mean to us? Of course, it is impossible to say for sure, but the probability that he has cut a deal with Mueller is the likeliest option by a sizeable margin. There’s no other reason that makes sense at all, actually, other than a random decision on the part of the general’s lawyers. Considering how rapid a pace the Russiagate investigation has been yielding results as of late, this does not seem very likely.

Jay Sekulow, a member of Trump’s legal team, said that the Flynn team’s decision to no longer share information “is not entirely unexpected”, but it can’t be weighing easily on Trump’s mind. Flynn is the big cheese. They’ve been after him from the minute Rod Rosenstein gave Mueller the job.

Michael Flynn has always been the guy who seemed most likely to hold the final keys to the puzzle. The fact of his team not sharing information with Trump anymore almost certainly means he’s getting ready to snitch. That would mean the end of Trump for sure, which is cause to be thankful if ever there was, and on that note, Happy Thanksgiving from Millennial Democrats!

Merkel Besieged by Far Right and Left- Stand With the Chancellor!

A terrible blow against world stability was struck on Sunday when coalition talks broke down between Angela Merkel’s conservatives, the center-right, pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Green Party.

This has caused a great unrest in Europe, particularly in Germany. One man, who asked to be called Achim, said, “I constantly worry what Germany might unleash on the world, particularly with Britain leaving the EU, which just gives Germany more power in Europe. And I fear what might happen in this current climate of uncertainty if Merkel is unseated.”

The situation is so unstable that the parliament itself is in danger of being dissolved. There may have to be a new election held. The president of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, admonished the political parties on Monday that they had a duty to compromise and form governing alliances, rather than just call for a new election. But his role in Germany’s system is largely ceremonial. There is only so much he can do.

Nigel Farage and his #Brexit are infamous, and the hashtag #Dexit(for Deutschland Exit) has begun to rear its head. The division of their country would lead to a great division in the E.U. Putin wants to break us off bit by bit.

There’s already chaos here in America. Remember the #CalExit?

The day after the election, a small and previously ignored fringe movement called Yes California was trending on Facebook and Twitter, using the aforementioned hashtag, #CalExit. They’d been around since 2014, gathering signatures to get a vote for Californian secession in the voting referendum. It didn’t go very far back then, but in November of last year, a lot of people stopped at least long enough to give it a think.

For a week or two, in the chaos and despair surrounding the election of Trump, a lot of people were looking for answers and solace anywhere they could find them. In this terrible state of mind, California becoming its own country almost seemed like a good idea.

Trump was Russia’s dog, and we were not willing to live under Putin’s thumb. So it felt to many like we had to come up with something. And so, Yes California gained some adherents and raised some enthusiasm.

But then, in December, a very unlikely visitor showed up in Russia, as a fresh emigre.

It was Lous Marinelli, the self-proclaimed leader of the #CalExit movement.

Speaking to a room full of reporters in Moscow, flanked by photos of Vladimir Putin and Hugo Chavez, Marinelli went on to bitterly rail against American hegemony. From Washington’s foreign policy to the difficulties of the U.S. immigration system, Louis Marinelli decided, he could “no longer live under a U.S. flag”, and that henceforth he would make his home in the southern Ural Mountains.

On that day, near the end of 2016, Marinelli unveiled his primary project. With its logo emblazoned on a banner unfurled behind him, Marinelli welcomed visitors to the “Embassy of the Independent Republic of California.”

The whole episode just goes to show that the far right is not alone among radicals in terms of problematic Russian entanglements.  The far left has its fair share as well.

Currently, Germany stands on the brink of a collapsing government and new elections because bipartisan support for Angela Merkel is lacking. The right-wing Free Democratic Party(FDP) under Christian Lindner is the chief culprit, of course, but her opponent in September’s elections also has categorically ruled out any renewal of what they once called the Grand Coalition.

That opponent was Martin Schulz, leader of the Social Democrats (SPD), who has been referred to as the Bernie Sanders of Germany.

Germany’s Die Linke party, which literally means “The Left”, has outdone itself in support of Russia. One of its leading figures declared that Crimea legally belongs to Russia, a sore point throughout all of NATO.

The day after Donald Trump referred to NATO as obsolete, German opposition leader Sahra Wagenknecht on Tuesday added her voice to calls to dissolve it. In terms of policy, one would not consider those two figures similar. What links them is their ideological extremity, and their ties to Russia.

The radical left group European United Left/Nordic Green Left in the European Parliament supports the Kremlin with words and votes (in 78% of the cases), in the Council of Europe.

If Putin can pull off ruining Germany it will render the EU as helpless as America now is, and give Russia a free hand everywhere. This is why they are never short of rubles to spend on troublemaking.

Keeping the European Union and the United States in a perpetual state of crisis is a tremendous boon to the Russians. Crisis and chaos are prerequisite conditions for radicalism, and whether it’s right or left doesn’t matter a bit. They’re trying to use each other.

This is another reason why they are doing to Al Franken over here. Of course, Russia has been helping that along all it can.

During George W. Bush’s tenure in office, and for the same reason, Karl Rove and Company paid for Ralph Nader commercials in Florida. Their goal is the same now as it was back then- to destabilize and de-unify progressive liberals- all of us on the left- who they know to be political adversaries.

The GOP grew gangrenous at least fifty years ago, and by now, it really stinks. They will do or say anything to get into power. What we saw with the infiltration of Bernie Sanders groups last summer fits their M.O. perfectly.

Millennial Democrats would like to thank the patriots among the Sanders wing of the party, who loved their country enough to share this information across partisan lines. And once again, we would like to stretch out our hands to those who want to find a way off the crazy train. As we have repeated many times before, #WeWillEmbraceYou. Give us a chance.

Tad Devine, senior adviser to the Bernie Sanders campaign (and also Paul Manafort’s right-hand man whilst both were under the employ of deposed Ukrainian dictator Victor Yanukovych) once said, “Crisis is our brand”.

From the perspective of leftists, this is the only motive that makes sense, as the new Russia is just as much the ideological rival of the left as the Soviet Union was the right.

The left’s affiliation with the Kremlin can be explained better via the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” principle. Marx long taught that Communists should make any such alliances as are helpful toward the ultimate goal of dissolving the State.

Russia’s state-controlled economy, which promises to keep “big capital” in check, has proved attractive as a model for many far-left anti-capitalists, but there are a few unpleasantries they keep wanting to sweep under the rug. More than half the country’s criminal groups have ties to its government. It is naked, unregulated, brutal capitalism at its worst, without any of the kindnesses our social democracy displays.

The trouble is that all this crisis and empowered radicalism gives both sides many opportunities to incite mayhems. We all saw what happened in Charlottesville. There were violent clashes in Berkeley, CA not long after that. If these tendencies are not held in check by a strong and involved middle class, they will polarize our entire political atmosphere. That would be to the mutual detriment of all Americans, which is precisely what Putin is after.

Linda Curika, a spokesperson for NATO Strategic Communications in Latvia, said Russian support for extremists of either persuasion is all part of the Kremlin’s larger strategy “to weaken political support for the European Union and NATO.” Putin wants to make Russia great again. At our expense.

Director of the Political Capital Institute Peter Kreko has been recently involved in research regarding this matter. He concluded two facts about the intentions of Putin. First, that he is becoming the frontman of a worldwide anti-human rights movement, and second, that he is investing in, stirring up, and inciting radicals on both ends of the spectrum to “sabotage democracy in Europe”.

Kreko describes Russian tactics focused on destabilizing the EU and advancing Moscow’s ideology. This includes supporting parties and candidates on the margins(such as Bernie Sanders, or Ralph Nader’s Green Party) and friendly media outlets. Vladimir Putin spoke highly of Bernie Sanders all the way through the primary.

In America, we are experiencing many problems with who are still insisting, in the face of the overwhelming evidence that keeps piling up, that “the Russia thing” is simply a distraction from the main issue, that in their view being how the DNC cheated Bernie Sanders. These people are doing the entire human race a grand disservice.

By turning a blind eye to the machinations of the most nakedly aggressive power to arise in the world since Hitler’s Third Reich, they are in fact helping to make possible the same specific chaotic social conditions that in the past allowed far-right populist movements like Germany’s National Socialism to thrive in the first place.

They don’t understand that they are being duped by people who long ago grew cynical and bored regarding the socialist dreams and theories Bernie Sanders is espousing. After all, they invented most of it, and more a hundred years ago.

By now it has become clear to all but the deliberately blind and woefully ignorant that what happened in November here in America was not an isolated event, nor one that should have been unexpected. Rather, it is part of a consistent and growing phase of aggressive Russian attempts to rebuild at the expense of NATO and the United States. It is this generation’s turn to manage the old and fundamental struggle of authoritarianism vs. benevolence.

If Angela Merkel falls now, her fate will be perceived across the world as a big setback for the liberal and internationalist ideas that she has championed. Hillary Clinton was ruined in this same way and for this same reason. This will be a giant setback to everyone on the left. We must come together and stand with the Chancellor now.

The Washington Post’s Tory Newmyer summed it up well in an article earlier today. It is clear that a large part of the German chancellor’s current difficulties come from the rise of the far-right and the far-left in Germany.

It’s a shame that simply by pointing some of these things out, a lot of people are going to get mad. It is not our intent to hurt feelings or point fingers. We fully realize that most of Bernie Sanders’ supporters in 2016 stood with him out of genuine conviction. We know they are good people. It is not as though we enjoy being the bearers of bad news. We find it regretful that these things have to be discussed at all.

But the simple fact remains. Moderates have been savaged by a whole galaxy of various dirty tricks. We are up against some really rough customers here. They attack from unexpected angles. We are asking for the help of the progressive wing of the party. Please share with us what you know.

The problem does not belong just to the far right alone, although it’s true that they’re usually the ones paying for it. It has infected the left as well, and not only the green wing. The recent betrayal of Donna Brazile comes to mind. It affects us all, and we will come to the table with anyone who is earnest about finding a way to solve the biggest problem of our times.

Sooner or later, we’ve all got to calm down, shake hands, and start to figure out what we’re going to do. We might as well start now, while we still have time. Soon it will be too late.
