Why Entertainment Network Fox “News” Is Literally And Legally Fake.

Fox News is nothing more than lies and slander and conservative propaganda.

The entity known as the far-right conservative entertainment show Fox News Network has become a big problem for America. Under the reign of Donald Trump, which never would have been possible without them, a new Dark Ages era of falsehood and deception has begun. Their talking heads have become a sort of private-sector State TV, and by the day they become more brazen.

They are one of the main reasons why the World Freedom Index no longer rates America as a full democracy and haven’t in two years- since Trump took over. It is why last year’s Blue Wave was so globally critical.

Something has to stop them eventually, and the American people still can if they decide to rise up righteous. We’ve got to raise awareness about Fox “News”.  They are not a real news station legally as well as in fact. They are not subject to airwave regulation by the FCC because they are just a cable show.

They can lie whenever they want without any penalty. And they do!

Judging from current events, it’s hard to pick a winner as to which recent event inspired us to write this story now; any other day would have done as well. The now-infamous Pelosi hit video on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” seems a reasonable place to begin.

Facebook, which has resolved on being dishonest and Russian infested itself, refused to take it down, which got a lot of justified heat slung at them, but they weren’t the real culprits this time. Liar Fox hosts were, but that didn’t raise many eyebrows. The whole world has known for years they’re just right-wing talking heads. Most of us have long since gotten used to being lied to by Fox, and we know on whose behalf.

The Republican Party, and the monopoly capitalists worldwide who are footing the bill for them.

The Republican Party, or more accurately its extremist wing known as the Tea Party and Fox “News” have a lot in common. They have the same ostensible values, but more importantly, they share the same financiers. The New York Times did a piece in 2010 titled “The Billionaires Bankrolling the Tea Party.”

Libertarian Rupert Murdoch, the creator of Fox “News”, is a billionaire and was numbered in stone among their ranks before he retired. His fellow libertarians and allies Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries were the other chief culprits, unsurprisingly. Koch-supported lobbyists, foundations and political operatives are at the center of climate-science denial — a cause that forestalls threats to Koch Industries’ vast fossil fuel business.

Which “news network” has been pushing that line the loudest? We don’t even have to tell you.

As we have discussed many times on this blog, “libertarian” is the new word for monopoly capitalist, or fascist. Whenever you think of Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries, that’s who we’re talking about. A total media monopoly has been a Koch agenda item for years. Hawaiian representative Tulsi Gabbard, of all people, plays a strange role in their world. The arch-villains of Occupy Wall St, a dark money private political empire designed to promote far-right causes.

The Murdoch family is one of the biggest players. The amount of money they have formally given to the Republican Party is vast. Who knows what they’ve been up to since Citizens United? One can only speculate, and look at what we know for sure in the meantime.

Kathleen Ronayne at OpenSecrets.org put together the following statistics, leaving no doubt who Fox and the Republicans are getting their bread buttered by.

Since the 1990 election cycle, Murdoch has contributed about $750,000 to federal candidates and political committees, according to research by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Of that sum, 80 percent — or $600,200 — has benefited Republican candidates and committees, including a $250,000 contribution to the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the 1990s, when the committee could still accept unlimited “soft money” donations.

These days it’s the son of Rupert, Lachlan Murdoch, who has run the place since 2017, and he is no better than his father.

When he took over, he promptly sold nearly every anti-Trump asset they had to Disney, including the Simpsons, their one contribution to humanity. King of the Hill too, I suppose, but on the other hand, we lost Beavis and Butthead out of the deal.

Speaking as a private citizen, I don’t think it was worth it. Every day, like boll weevils, they eat away at the strands of what Americans believe is going on.

Earlier today, when Robert Mueller made his first public statement regarding the report that bears his name regarding the Russian interference in our election, they swung into action right away. Headlines bearing such trivial names as “Laura Ingraham says Mueller ‘attempting to resuscitate the corpse’ of his report'” and “Mueller statement made for ‘bad day’ for Pelosi, 2020 Dems, Trump campaign manager says” proliferated all over the Internet within an afternoon.

The people claiming that the contents of the Mueller Report are anything but a disaster of the highest scale for America are part of the problem, and as usual, Fox hosts are leading the charge. The wrigglings of Sean Hannity were as loathsome as those of Glenn Greenwald (almost; at least the former will admit what team he’s on). We’re not going to get into that in this article, however. We’re going to stick with Fox and hope that Mr. Mueller won’t mind too much our lack of focus in his work today.

Fox “News”, for never again will we write the very words without using quotation marks, a practice I am hoping will catch on, is not really a news station at all. It’s part of 21st Century Fox, a cable entertainment network, and this is of the utmost importance because it explains why they can lie to us this way so systematically.

MediaBiasFactCheck provides the background.

Founded in 1996 by Rupert Murdoch, Fox News Channel, also known as Fox News, (FNC) is an American basic cable and satellite news television channel that is owned by the Fox Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox.

Catch that? Entertainment! This will set the standard for our entire evaluation of this clumsy version of State TV we derisively call “Faux News”. Cable networks are not real news networks, at least not in the sense that the Big Three stations (NBC, ABC, CBS) are, because they do not go out over the airwaves. They are therefore not subject to Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, airwave regulation.

The FCC controls the airwaves. That’s their task. It’s their job. Their only job! And who among us has not asked before, with all the constant misinformation, the innumerable floods of lawsuits over wrong stories, the countless times they have been sued, why doesn’t the FCC do something?
Well, actually, for the same reason Robert Mueller didn’t charge Trump with a crime! They don’t have the legal right! The FCC has no jurisdiction over cable. Neither does CNN, of course, but they adhere to journalistic standards more than three-fourths of the time. Fox can’t even make halfway.
They only tell the truth on the air 42% of the time.
They’ve been using it as State TV, like in Russia, you know; the dictator’s mouthpiece, his most accessible way to lie directly to the people. But actually, it’s just like him, sham to the core and nowhere near the inner circle. We should be telling people this every time it comes up. Fox is NOT a news network because it doesn’t get to use the airwaves. It’s got to crawl through the ground like slithering worms in cables.

Cable television is far less regulated and held to standards far less rigorous than a real television station. They alone are the supreme arbiters of what they can say or not say during their slots of television, and cannot get in trouble for lying, which they do constantly. They are in no way the same as a Big Three airwave station.

To get our neighbors to see how worthless Fox really is, we need one simple equation and to raise awareness about it.

News is “fake news” if it has no journalistic standards, be they chosen or enforced by airwave laws and the FCC.

Those standards are defined by the journalistic tradition, and by national airwave laws.
Fox does not go out over airwaves, nor do they value journalistic standards.
Therefore, Fox = fake news.

Fox will lose all its power to mislead our people with lies if we raise enough awareness about this fact, which is, of course, the goal of this article. Fox But we’ll get back to that. In the meantime, let’s look at how much faith 21st Century Fox, of which Fox “News” Network is just a part, has in the truthfulness of the talking heads it’s hired.

The blockquote underneath is a waiver you’ll be forced to sign if you’d like to buy time on a Fox “News” slot, as provided by the Fox “News” Network LLC Terms of Use Agreement.

Company makes no representation or warranty whatsoever regarding the completeness, accuracy, currency or adequacy of any information, facts, views, opinions, statements or recommendations contained on the Company Services and/or the Content.

Unbelievable!

A little background about the channel itself seems in order. Fox “News” was created by Australian-born American media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who launched it on October 7, 1996 to 17 million cable subscribers. It has gained in power and reach since that time tremendously, and its brazenness has grown beside it twice as fast, a mutated golem made of mis- and dis- information.

The word “disinformation” comes from the Russian “dezinformatsiya”, meaning ” false information given to deliberately deceive”, and so we mostly think of it as something Russian. Certainly, to say the least, disinformation strategies of the type Russia used to interfere in our 2016 presidential election cycle have become a problem in today’s world. But the Russians are hardly the true masters.

Here in the United States of America, we also know a thing or two about getting lied to by our president. We know too that his primary way of doing it has become his own personal, privatized version of State TV- Fox “News”.

What Fox has done over the years, or even just during the election, dwarfs what the Russians did to the point of demonstrating their accomplishment as puny. The Kremlin got a few ads through to people on Facebook and held a few rallies; definitely creepy, but absolutely nothing compared to what domestic mouthpieces are capable of. Russia was able to goad an enormous bull, not become one.

Compared to what Fox is capable of, they’re nothing. Small-time pikers, and no mistake. You don’t have to take our word for it, either. Consider rather the words of Ralph Peters, a former Fox News strategic analyst and a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army who left the network last year in March, disgusted with its sycophantic coverage of Trump and the vicious rhetoric of its talking prime time heads.

Peters said specifically that he could not “in good conscience” remain with an organization that, he argued, “is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.”

He went on letting them have it, too.

“In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration,” Colonel Peters wrote in his message, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times.

As a people, we’ve gotten so used to being lied to by Fox that even the most acutely aware of the problem tends to have to shrug their shoulders at this point. But 99% of the slander thrown at Hillary Clinton in 2016 came from that direction. Varying aspects of what we know as the conservative media machine cooked it up over a quarter of a century, which illustrates and highlights the crux of the problem. Here in the land of the free, one of the most double-edged swords there is free speech.

Free speech is why I can write these words without having to fear death or the concentration camp. But it is also why we must tolerate Fox “News”, the Republican mouthpiece, lacking in all credulity- and yet, something I would still fight for their right to do just as hard as I would my own. In a democratic society such as ours, we have no choice but to grin and bear it. . Nothing true or useful comes to the people by way of it. It’s actually the polar opposite of news, which is daily information given by professionals, intending to inform the people about current events. Fox’s intent is to waylay and confuse.

What we, as a nation, have gotten used to accepting as a valid source is really one of the most wicked and egregious disinformation campaigns to take place in all of human history! It has not been by any foreign power that this disinformation has been unleashed on our people, but on our very own television sets, playing twenty-four hours a day nationwide. People are used to it, so they accept it as credible.

Nothing could be more inaccurate.

Fox "News" is NOT a news channel. It's an entertainment channel, like everything else on cable. Cable news is never news at all.
Fox “News” is NOT a news channel. It’s an entertainment channel, like everything else on cable. Cable news is never news at all.

When world leaders, be they figure of states or high-profile figures from civil society, deliberately employ untruth against their own people, they are without a doubt using a method of repression, and a very costly one at that. In the Donald Trump era, weaponized lying has become easier and more common than ever before. Fox News has become his primary mouthpiece.

This is a disaster for America because such a state of affairs cannot help the inflicting of large-scale corrosion of democracy, regardless of the state it’s taking place in. If a country values its democratic system, its citizens will have to find ways to ward off this threat from time to time.

Otherwise, it will not survive.

I can hear someone asking, off in a parallel universe perhaps, what’s the harm in it? Let them have their pleasant delusions if it helps to keep them at work. Is this really something we have to fear will badly wound America?

That is why James Madison wrote the Federalist Paper 10th.

A stupid and incompetent citizenry is something no nation will long survive, so you better believe it will badly wound America. It already has. Fox News disinformation ends breaking up families, making people permanently angry, and seeing to it they’re uneducated on as many subjects as possible.

Rolling Stone Magazine provides the following sad anecdote to illustrate the tendency’s nature.

Jen Senko believes that her father was brainwashed. As Senko, a New York filmmaker, tells it, her father was a “nonpolitical Democrat.” But then he transferred to a new job that required a long commute and began listening to conservative radio host Bob Grant during the drive. Eventually, he was holing himself up for three hours every day in the family kitchen, mainlining Rush Limbaugh and, during commercials, Fox News.

“It reminded me of the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” Senko says. “He used to love talking to different people to try to learn their language, but then he became angry about illegal immigrants coming to the country, that they were taking jobs from Americans, and that English was becoming the secondary language.”

Studies have proven an actual physical effect of this by studying the brains of Fox News viewers. Author Daniel Goleman has coined the term “amygdala hijacking” to describe what inflammatory rhetoric and imagery are designed to do: trigger the emotional brain before the logical brain has a chance to stop it. The anger centers of their brains are literally more physically developed than those of healthy people. It’s like benchpresses for a bad temper.

In the year 2000, hosts like Hannity and the now-disgraced and silent Bill O’ Reilly made themselves the champions of the second Bush regime. This made them some friends. They learned a big lesson from it, too, one they’ve been revving up the engine off of ever since.

Misleading your viewers and using base anger to fight with is a quick and easy way to gain support from embittered people-whose numbers grow larger with every war and crisis. Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book used by the rich by preying on their fellows, in or out of America.

After 9/11 took place, while all the world was mourning and gearing up for war, Fox was making bigger and bigger bank as a result of their conservative alliance. They experienced a 440% increase in viewers, blowing the doors off comparable news organizations like CNN who don’t use wild speculations and click-bait headlines.

They got so big so fast, in fact, that when now-disgraced former CEO Roger Ailes came right out and said they are not a news organization in 2007, nobody much really heard him. They were too busy listening to Bill O’ Reilly and Sean Hannity instead. Hannity is a particular problem these days, as Trump’s good buddy, people give a lot of undue credibility to the lies told by him- a cable network entertainer, not a journalist.

Why are Big Three news networks like CBS or NBC or CNN so constrained by the truth while Fox is not? Surely the mighty Federal Communications Commission should be able to call Fox News to command, so why doesn’t it?

Actually, though, the FCC has no power over Fox or CNN, because both are cable shows and ultimately designed for entertainment! This is key. The difference between Fox and CNN is ideological. One chooses willingly to use journalistic standards. The other does not. Neither one is forced to! Fox is not legally obliged to tell the truth on the air.

Fox isn’t subject to FCC airwave regulation because it isn’t on the airwaves! Clever, right? Now they can spout all the hideousness they want and still dare to label it the truth. CNN is truthful by choice, but people think it’s because they have to be. That is not true, and it is almost certainly why the FCC doesn’t chop Hannity’s head off.

They nearly destroyed Howard Stern just for being annoying.

Make sure to catch that last part. Fox, the so-called “News” Network is in no way legally obligated to tell the truth about anything! They are a feature offered by the entertainment company 21st Century Fox. Entertainment is allowed to lie! It’s all just part of the show.

Making them tell the truth would spoil the effect, and our system doesn’t force them to. Not any more than USA’s client the World Wrestling Entertainment has to come right out and say pro wrestling is fake. People know it in their hearts, but they want to believe in the wrestlers, so they do. They like a good show. It’s exactly the same with Fox.

Although it should have been, it is not true that Fox has been made to start using a disclaimer saying “For Entertainment Purposes Only”. That was an April Fool’s joke in 2017 circulated by reporters, designed to make readers laugh- and to make them think. But it’s definitely true that entertainment is how they think of themselves. Ailes told The Hollywood Reporter in 2015 that he does not consider the other basic cable news channels — CNN and MSNBC — to be Fox’s competitors.

“We’re competing with TNT and USA and ESPN,” he said.

Discussion about American political issues today-meaning every single facet of life in southern North America- means a debate, unless you’re in a room where everyone agrees with you. Those debates will see a Fox-trained cadre putting forth the opinions of trolls like Hannity as a valid counterpoint to anything, even proven scientific facts. People take him seriously and believe the things he says.

Recently he said the immigration deal we nearly came to with Trump a “Garbage Compromise”. But actually, Hannity himself is an absolute, complete, and total trash can. He didn’t even go to school for this, he was working as a housing contractor when he randomly volunteered for radio and offered himself out as a mouthpiece for rightist nonsense.

If you’re willing to lie without repentance, there’s always some monopoly capitalist hoping to bring down America with your help.

Hannity has paid off for them with some real whoppers over the years. The anti-Obama movement of birtherism, 2016 voter fraud, “deep state opposition” of a “Shadow Government” – a network of government officials that are working to hinder the Trump administration. Conspiracy theories about the Seth Rich murder, and so on, leading up to the biggest lie of all- that Debauched Donald was fit to run this country.

It’s all a big show, not truthful news, but then again it was not meant to be. As the Fox “News” Network’s own CEO Roger Ailes said, they’re really competing with football and pro wrestling. It’s all for ratings and money- money that comes from billionaire libertarians like the Koch Brothers and their founder Rupert Murdoch.

Hannity will say whatever the Murdochs want him to.

That’s a big problem when most of it is not true; a third at most of Hannity’s public statements were rated fully true by Politifact. A recent Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind Poll revealed that most Americans get their political knowledge from Sunday morning political shows on television. These “do the most to help people learn about current events.” That would seem to confirm their opinion.

However, listen to the rest of the story.

“[S]ome outlets, especially Fox News, lead people to be even less informed than those who don’t watch any news at all.”

Likewise, a University of Maryland study done in 2003 showed that Fox News viewers are more likely than consumers of any other news source to believe demonstrably false statements.

Again, this is because Fox is not a news channel. It’s entertainment packaged as news to mislead and stultify the American people. Great misunderstanding and bitterness come from believing things that just aren’t true. Real consequences arise from surrendering our objectivity.

Fox viewers have been getting angrier and angrier for decades, their bitterness manufactured and exploited. And who do their Friends at Fox lead them into feeling bitter towards? Liberals, progressives, anyone who wants to help the people. Anyone who isn’t just like them.

A full 60% of Fox News viewers describe themselves as conservative according to a 2012 survey by the Pew Research Center. According to John Ray at Data for Progress, “Across a variety of political and cultural attitudes, Republicans who report getting their news from Fox are significantly to the right of Republicans who don’t.”

Studies galore have been done to measure these tendencies, which should be well-documented and understood. Every one of the organizations reaching these conclusions is similar to MediaFactChect, a neutral nonprofit organization that exists to classify and track partisan bias levels among political media entities. They do this according to a rated standard political spectrum, going as always from extreme-left to extreme-right.

A related group, PunditFact, measures their commentators’ honesty. These standards are both logical and apolitical, and can reasonably trusted as far as anything else in the written world can.

Fox News is given by MediaFactCheck a Bias Rating very near the extreme end of the pole as Strongly Right, for reasons that are really rather damning. We’ve included them in blockquote below.

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Right Bias sources.

  • Overall, we rate Fox News strongly Right-Biased due to wording and story selection that favors the right and Mixed factually based on poor sourcing and the spreading of conspiracy theories that later must be retracted after being widely shared.

They also score badly by the standards of PunditFact, a second and related organization’s tool for measuring the percentage of truthful reporting done by political analysts on the stories they discuss and the terms they use to describe them. We decided to include the numerical figures below, as a stark quality comparison between the center and far-right journalists is to be found there.

Currently, at Fox and Fox News Channel, 58 percent of fact claims made by pundits and on-air personalities have been rated Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire. NBC and MSNBC were not great either, but their work still represents a significant improvement versus Fox at 45%.

CNN scored best with only 22 percent of their fact claims not making it through the filters and most of those coming from guests rather than commentators, which is interesting because CNN also is a cable network. They chose to use journalistic standards of their own volition, not because they were forced to by any mean laws or regulations.

Conversely, Don Irvine over at Accuracy in Media showed what Fox thinks of truth as a value.

Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes told The Hollywood Reporter that Fox News has become so big, the network is really competing with cable sports and entertainment networks like TNT, USA and ESPN, not the ratings-challenged CNN and MSNBC.

They laugh because it doesn’t get the ratings that come from anger and savage lying. It also doesn’t get big bucks from the likes of Charles and David Koch.
We have to keep hitting this point until it sinks in. Fox cannot be trusted, and we should immediately go on the attack whenever someone cites them as a source rather than arguing on the merits or flaws of their absurd claims. Fox is not a news network at all. It’s just an entertainment cable network, like TNT or USA. They do not have a record of journalistic integrity, and they do not have to have one. We must attack Fox credibility on these grounds.
On a cable network, or elsewhere, journalistic standards are a choice. Citizens have to know there is a big difference between the quality of the work of those who adhere to them and those who do not. Fox has made its choice long ago, and so we must make ours. We have to start hammering this home immediately. As fast as we can. Fox is LITERALLY-and legally- fake news. They have systematically and for decades mangled truth in the pursuit of power and money.
We are done listening.
All the filth and lies the Bernie supporters were slinging around in 2016 came through their pipeline.  They laid the groundwork in the minds of the American people that made them accept the Russian disinformation that convinced Bernie supporters to riot in the Philadelphia streets.
Most of all, they convinced the American people that Donald Trump, a known con man, racist, and bully, was worth entrusting the greatest responsibility in the world. They have put our entire American system at risk. The last pillar in the world holding democracy up
The nonsense the Russians were using was the same old anti-Clinton stuff Rush Limbaugh and his pals have been spouting. The record is clear and the facts are too.

In Trump’s words during the first 2016 presidential debates, somebody better call Sean Hannity.

The Betrayal of Roger Stone-Guccifer 2.0 Is A Russian Agent.

His boss is a crook.

It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that Roger Stone has finally crossed the line.

He has now made himself into something much worse than merely dishonest. Finally, he is making Lee Atwater proud.

Recently it was discovered that the hacker who claimed responsibility for the Wikileaks release of those DNC emails last summer, Guccifer 2.0, is a Russian intelligence officer whose name and location are both known to Robert Mueller.

Roger Stone had always been very proud of his friendship with Guccifer. He has boasted about it many times. He wrote on August 14, 2016, “Delighted you are reinstated. F–k the State and their MSM lackeys.”

Stone also published an article on Breitbart News, saying, “It doesn’t seem to be the Russians that hacked the DNC, but instead a hacker who goes by the name of Guccifer 2.0.”

But just recently, the amazing Guccifer made a mistake. He failed to activate the VPN that he’d been using to mask his location from American authorities, and they found him. And now, all of a sudden, Roger Stone has begun backpedaling.

Stone recently made a statement, saying: “To reiterate, I myself had no contacts or communications with the Russian State, Russian Intelligence or anyone fronting for them or acting as intermediaries for them. None. Nada. Zilch.”

Not long after that one, he reversed himself completely.

“Did in fact have a short and innocuous Direct Message exchange with Guccifer 2.0.”

Stone also had what he insists is a “Perfectly Legal” back channel to Wikileaks criminal Julian Assange. He sent a tweet out right before Wikileaks dumped the DNC emails the supporters of Bernie Sanders rioted in the streets over, saying “Trust me, it will soon be the Podesta’s time in the barrel.

An independent observer will remember that “time in the barrel” is the exact same term he used when he cooked up a scandal with Fox News host Leeann Tweeden to hurt the former Democratic Senator Al Franken from Minnesota, the other big time he got some dirt from his KGB friend Guccifer.

Criminally acquiring dirt and boasting. This is the M.O. of Roger Stone.

That was all over the Roy Moore scandals, which were an inescapable disaster for them. They knew that Al Franken would be accused of sexual assault hours before the story actually broke.

“Let’s just say Sen. Franken’s time in the barrel is about to come,” Stone told The Daily Caller over text early Thursday morning, hours before Leeann Tweeden came out with her claims.

Stone did not care to elaborate to TheDC exactly how he knew Tweeden was going to come out with her claims. But he did. And that means it was plotted out.

The news that Roger Stone spearheaded the effort to get rid of Al Franken last year is not new. We already know what kind of a guy he is. Roger Stone is the perpetual wannabe, the crony hatchetman who’s always trying to prove how tough he is.

The news that one of the women said to be accusing Franken of sexual harassment in Minnesota wasn’t even talking about Franken is new, but just the same. It’s the latest in a long line of sneaky and dishonest political moves in the career of a guy who made his bones being sneaky and dishonest.

Many have wondered why Stone isn’t already in jail. He’s been pulling this crap since the 70’s. He’s got a huge picture of Richard Nixon’s face tattooed on his back. He’s always been a thug who walks close to the criminal line, but he’s always managed before not to cross it.

That day has now come and gone.

Stone has repeatedly rejected the notion that it would be treasonous if President Trump‘s campaign coordinated with WikiLeaks to release emails from rival Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

“I’ve been accused of being a dirty trickster. There’s one trick that’s not in my bag: That’s treason,” Stone, a longtime GOP operative and informal adviser to Trump, said on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press Daily.”

“For it to be a treasonous act, Assange would have to provably be a Russian asset, and WikiLeaks would have to be a Russian front. And I don’t think that’s the case,” he continued, referring to the founder of the anti-secrecy group.

One is not visually taxed, to imagine the smug look on his face as he emphasized the word “provably”.

Proof was always the key here. We’ve all figured for a long time. Now we know for sure. This is one more example of the Russian/Republican alliance that we’re seeing the outline of more clearly, now that the dust of 2016 is finally settling.

At any rate, the chances of Stone escaping this without punishment aren’t good. He’d been relying on former Trump staffer Sam Nunberg to protect him, but that guy suffered a major malfunction earlier this month. It was pretty funny, actually. It provided some of the best laughs we’ve had since they fired Spicey.

There’s a lesson to us all here. If you try hard enough to get yourself into trouble, you are bound eventually to succeed. For Roger Stone, that lesson is going to get learned the hard way.

At this stage of the game, it is really just a matter of time until Robert Mueller sends him to slip-and-fall school. Here’s hoping it’s sooner rather than later.

#TheBlueWave- Where We Stand, Going Forward.

Millennial Democrats and #TheBlueWave

New House and Senate ratings from CNN point the way to an excellent set of midterms for the Democratic Party.

That said- Beware complacency.

Those two words are so gigantic in this case, that they could be the whole article.

There’s a number of different factors at play in the political scene of America at this time. Some of them are in no way American, but most of them are.

One of the biggest is voter apathy.

Millennial readers, ask yourselves this: How many conversations have you had, with people our age about politics, in which you have heard somebody say: “Ah, all governments are fascist. There’s no difference between one or the other.” Or had a menu of talking points from Fox News or Infowars with them?

Many others act like they’re afraid to talk at all, either because they don’t know enough, or because they don’t care enough, or because people get so intense about it.

This is the state of things when a polarity this extreme and disparate exists between the people of the country.

People aren’t getting their information from the same places anymore. You can tell when you’ve been talking to someone deeply indoctrinated by Rush Limbaugh and the Breitbart band. You’ll immediately be confronted with a whole galaxy of half-truths, lies, and slanders.

Most of the time you won’t even know what they’re talking about, the stuff will be so out there. And by the time your smartphone has proved them wrong, they’ve already made fifty more specious claims. It becomes clear very quickly that they don’t have any interest in getting at the truth.

You can’t even talk to them anymore.

An understanding of this fundamental truth is where any realistic discussion of how to win the midterms must begin.

A great deal of time and money has been invested by those currently in power, seeing to it that those without it remain apathetic and confused regarding the process. Nor have they closed their wallets.

Charles Koch and members of his Seminar Network- donors who contribute a minimum of $100,000 to the various political organizations run by the Koch brothers– have big plans for the midterm elections.

At a retreat this weekend, the group announced plans to spend between $300 million and $400 million in 2018- a 60 percent increase from its spending in 2016-  to defend Trump administration policies that Charles and David Koch and their network overwhelmingly support- while distancing themselves from a man that is personally unfit to serve as president.

They want it both ways, and they figure with enough cash they can get it. Once the strategy gives them the power they are seeking, they figure it will all be worthwhile. If they can dominate and make a shell of the governmental apparatus, they can change things around all they like. Those changes will be catastrophic to every environment we live in.

We have to find a way to stop them and to do so we will need to surmount some difficult challenges.

Republican standing has improved recently. It’s going to take awhile for people to understand just how stupid those tax cuts were. It’s going to take a while before it hurts them.

CNBC’s John Harwood calls Trump’s tax reform a “remarkable paradox,” as middle America will not benefit as much as the coastal elites his base so loves to stick it to.

Howmuch.net, a cost information website, has created a handy infographic to help us understand how middle-to-low income households are losing.

Howmuch explains that “Some taxpayers would definitely benefit from Trump’s tax reform — especially those at the higher end of the income scale. There are others, however, who would see their tax rates go up. Especially those on lower incomes.”

This is important, because the tax plan is the reason the GOP has been polling better recently. Their strategy going forward will be to beat that drum as hard as they can. It’s the only legislative accomplishment they’ve got.

Many of them are showing signs of indigestion of the conscience, as evidenced by the fact of so many of the GOP leaders in Congress retiring, but it’s a little late for that.

Another key factor to watch this year will be Russian interference in our elections.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo was asked during an interview with the BBC on Monday whether he anticipates a Russian influence campaign later this year.

“I have every expectation that they will continue to try and do that,” he said.

“But,” he added, “I am confident that America will be able to have a free and fair election — that we’ll push back in a way that is sufficiently robust that the impact they have on our election won’t be great.”

What a joke.

Later the same day as those comments were made, the Trump administration announced that it will not impose the new Russian sanctions. And the other Republicans are just as bad. All of them are complicit in the biggest treason of all time.

Aside from all that, there’s the usual electoral stuff to consider. The House, in which Democrats need a 24-seat pickup to win the majority, looks very favourable. And ever since the stunning victory of Alabama’s Doug Jones, a plausible path to control of the Senate has arisen.

If the Blue Wave is indeed going to sweep over this country in the midterm elections, we are going to have to work very hard, because nobody is going to do it for us. It can and will happen because we will be here to fight for it tooth and nail.

Going forward, the key is to find out which races are the most competitive, target them, and put our resources into fighting for them. We are actively asking our readers for help on this. Anything you’ve got that might be useful, please feel free to send it in. We’ve got a lot of work to do. And it is going to take us all.

Bannon Calls Trump Treasonous- President Sick With Rage.

Trump is unhappy.
Donald Trump is rumored to be in a New Year’s fury. Anger at his legal team for offering shifting timelines about when the Russia investigation would end seems to have gotten the best of him. And his divorce with Steve Bannon is said to have placed him near a state of apoplexy.

Many predicted that we were in for an interesting afternoon. We were not to be disappointed.

According to two sources familiar with the President’s mindset, the anger has continued.

It is said to have begun worsening around afternoon Wednesday. At the time, Trump was helping to draft his blistering break-up letter to former chief strategist Steve Bannon.

His recent interviews with author Michael Wolff delivered a brutal flaying of Trump, and his family.

Bannon’s characterization of Ivanka Trump as dumb as a brick is said to have enraged the president in particular. But what can you do? Divorce is always hard on the kids.

All of this has followed the criticism and ridicule his taunting tweet Tuesday evening directed at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has brought him. My button’s bigger than your button. Has it really come to this?

The rest of the White House was said to have been caught badly off guard by the whole situation, as was everyone else. It renewed worry worldwide about whether the President fully comprehends the risks he’s taking in adversarially provoking an insane dictator with childish taunts.

After Trump’s North Korea broadside, aides inside the White House reached out to some of Trump’s allies seen as having influence over the President to talk to him about his tweets and the risks they carry. Millennial Democrats would like to wish these aides the best of luck.

In the meantime, we found out today that in April, Kim Jong Un ordered the launch of a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile that failed shortly after launch and ended up hitting the city of Tokchon, roughly two hours from the capital.

Since it’s North Korea, it’s hard to get much information, but it is probable that casualties were taken. Another key integer not reported was that the missile fell on an urban area.

They’ve been firing off missiles over Japan.

All it’s going to take is one stupid miscalculation and millions could die overnight, wiped out forever in one single blundering instant. But Trump does not seem to understand that and continues to risk nuclear war by pointlessly antagonizing Kim.

His recent out-of-the-blue decision to recognize Jerusalem is another potentially explosive example of this. Trump appeared to slur his words during the speech.

It is for this reason that yet another precedent has been broken by this president.

For the first time in history, members of the Congress have had to be briefed on the mental health of their president, and asked to keep it in mind when crafting laws.

In America, it’s an old lawmaker’s trick, proposing some ridiculously extreme or idealistic notion that could never possibly get passed, by way of making some point or another. But this trick is no longer safe to use. If some random crazy bill were ever to make it to Trump’s desk, it might actually get passed. This president is different.

Politico reported Wednesday that more than a dozen lawmakers last month met with a Yale University psychiatry professor for two days to discuss President Trump’s fitness for office, raising questions once again about the 25th Amendment, by which an unfit President can be voted out of the job by a majority of Cabinet members and the Vice President.

Dr. Bandy X. Lee reportedly met with the group of lawmakers on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 and warned them the president is “going to unravel.”

Trump will sign anything. He will do anything. He is desperate to avoid boredom. Whims and caprice are all that govern his decision-making process. He has proven time and again that he will lash out at random when he’s angry. And right now he is very angry indeed.

He’s realizing now that his lawyers have been sugarcoating some very unpleasant truths, one of which was summed up by Steve Bannon quite succinctly.

Bannon referred to Donald Trump, Jr’s June 2016 meeting with a group of Russians as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”. No doubt.

Breitbart News was a cornerstone of Trump’s alt-right base. and propaganda machine. When Trump fired him, it sent all of them a message loud and clear. I don’t need you anymore.

Trump also sent Bannon a cease-and-desist order today from making speeches about his time in the Trump machine, which is laughable.

Trump’s presidency is the biggest failure in modern American politics. It’s a lumbering, out of control golem that has risen to consume its makers. One way or the other, this thing has got to end. When even the likes of Steve Bannon come to realize it, it’s clear most of America is now on the same page. People are waking up.

The reality of the situation dictates that anyone with a sound and stable mind use it, to concentrate on finding a way of bringing this nightmare to an end.

But, yeah. Hillary’s emails.

MD DissectFake- Mexican Mob and NorCal Wildfires Rumor Debunked

A strange rumor caught the attention of one of our contributors recently.

An idea has been making the rounds that the apocalyptic wildfires in Northern California were started by the Mexican Mafia, in an iron-fisted attempt to eliminate competition from the marijuana industry.

He thought little of it at first. But it just kept coming up, and now it’s turning into an accepted part of the narrative in the area.

Rumors are common, of course. But in this day and age, when even the most innocuous aspects of American culture, e.g. Pokemon Go and the #DontShootUs hashtag have been poisoned and used against us by the Russians, nothing can be taken for granted.

So when you hear a widespread rumor, especially regarding anything that might be employed to raise racial tensions and turn neighbor against neighbor, it’s a good idea to look at where it came from.

The problem started when right-wing blog Got News claimed an exclusive bombshell in the ongoing wildfire story. They did not cite any of their alleged law enforcement sources. No quotes of any kind appear in the story. It fails to present any evidence beyond the fact that the fires damaged marijuana crops.

Breitbart News got ahold of it shortly thereafter.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. GotNews is run by a guy named Charles C. Johnson, the white nationalist infamously known as “Trump’s Troll”. He reportedly acted as an adviser to the Trump administration’s transition team. Johnson has recently been implicated in the Russia investigation, according to a recent piece by Ben Schreckinger in Politico.

Johnson also arranged and attended a meeting between Assange and Dana Rohrabacher, a Republican who has consistently argued for closer ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government.

In other words, Charles C. Johnson is probably on Putin’s payroll. And he’s definitely on his side.

Although the likes of the slovenly Charles C. Johnson seem like random wingnuts, these stories are not random at all. They are part of a carefully coordinated and worldwide disinformation campaign, financed by Russia and inspired by fascist ideology.

The utmost attention must be brought to the way that this is done. Believe it or not, propaganda specialists are telling the truth 9 of 10 times. That’s the whole point. If all of it was nonsense, it would be written off right away. So most of it isn’t. Lying blatantly isn’t what they do. What they do do, is actually very clever. They will take that one lie, break it up into chunks, and then feed it back to people in a way they often don’t notice.

The method employed in this article was an associative trick. They take two things that could plausibly be related and simply discuss them, side by side. The lie comes in so smooth, you barely notice it. Watch carefully the Breitbart article’s opening paragraphs for a good working example. It’s down there in italics and it includes the link.

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Tom Homan confirmed on Thursday that a man arrested in connection with setting a fire in Sonoma County Wine Country is an illegal alien from Mexico who has been twice returned to his “home country.”

Three claims are being made here. First, that a man has been arrested by ICE. Second, that the man is an illegal alien from Mexico. Third, that his arrest was made IN CONNECTION with setting fires. The first two are true; the third is patently false. It is a complete and total lie.

Many Americans, however, will swear on the lives of their families that the opposite is true. This is because they have been brainwashed so totally by conservative media that they truly believe what Breitbart writes is the gospel truth. Studies on the subject indicate this type of person will defend a story like this to the end.

In direct contravention of this statement, Sonoma County Sheriff Robert Giordano directly addressed the false claim at a press conference held at the time.

The Breitbart article was flat out called “false and misleading.”

There is no indication he is related to these fires at all,” Sheriff Giordano said. “Cal Fire is doing an investigation to see how these fires started. We don’t even know if it’s arson.”

The simple fact is, it’s wildfire season.

Long fire seasons are normal for California. Rain is usually absent for half the year. Thirteen of the 20 most devastating fires in California history, as measured by the number of buildings destroyed, have started on Oct. 1 or later, according to Cal Fire records.

The wildfires this year were the worst in state history, an unparalleled tragedy. The callousness needed to use an event like this for political purposes can only belong to Putin.

This is the face of fascism.  Manufactured incidents, news used as a tool to mislead and obfuscate. Propaganda, dishonesty, and confusion become the new and accepted norm. This is the face of their new authoritarian ideology. That ideology will be gradually dripped into the heads of the people by the likes of Sebastian Gorka, who was recently hired by Fox News.

This concept is not abstract, or something that only happens elsewhere. Companies like the Sinclair Broadcasting Company, which is said to be in talks with conservative TV show host Bill O’Reilly, will soon be threading pro- Trump messaging into every aspect of television. Their virulent brand of right-wing commentary and so-called “classic propaganda” may soon reach three-quarters of US households.

Going forward, the Mexican Mafia wildfire slander serves as an excellent case study for the examining and reverse-engineering of Republican propaganda. There will be more of this to come than we can imagine; Russian ads alone reached over 120 million on Facebook this year.

By thinking critically and staying alert, however, we can spot the fake news virus as it spreads. We can dismantle them, dissect them, and lay bare their innards to the light.  In this manner, we will come to see how they work.

Our job is to expose lies and bear witness. So please, when you see a story that looks like it could be suspect, let us know. Send it in so we can get to the bottom of it, and send it packing once and for all. Those who seek to educate will always stand as defenders of the truth. And that is the purpose of the Millennial Democrats DissectFake project.

Beneath, we are gratefully borrowing a crucial production of the International Federation of Library Associations(IFLA), which describes itself as the global voice of the library and information profession.

How to Spot Fake News

Sex Offenses and the Senate Don’t Mix- Say No to Roy Moore.

Alabama’s perverse and disgusting Senate candidate, Roy Moore, is still refusing to step out of the race. He remains unapologetic and has repeatedly lashed back on Twitter at Republican detractors like Mitch McConnell, who he feels has let down conservatives. All the while, the scandals just keep rolling in.

Chomo, by the way, is slang for child molester.

Earlier today, a fifth accuser, Beverly Nelson, stepped forth to tell the story of how she was defiled at the hands of this awful human being. McConnell, for his part, says he believes the women. His presence in the halls of our government is beyond intolerable. Roy Moore’s filth can never be allowed to touch the Senate.

A sex offender can’t get a job in this country driving a bus. How is it he can be a Senator?

Unfortunately, a great many Trump voters do not seem to mind. A definite connection between sex offenders and alt-right conspiracy theorists can be verified.

Take our president, for example. He openly boasted to Billy Bush about grabbing women by their genitals in the ugliest possible way. His supporters didn’t care a lick, and that’s exactly how much Trump cares about what type of man Roy Moore is and whether or not he ought to be in our Senate. His silence on the subject has spoken in volumes and given even more of a green light to his devotees.

Basically, if it’s okay for the President to treat random women like a catcher’s mitt, they seem to reason, it must be okay, period. Too bad we Democrats have been spoiling their good time all these years.

Remember when Senate candidate Todd Akin used the phrase “legitimate rape” during his 2012 campaign?

Milo Yiannoupoulis provides a more recent example. In February, Milo Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart News, the alt-right website he’d been a top editor for, after video surfaced in which Milo states clearly that he is absolutely fine with sexual ongoing between men and underage boys as young as 13.

It was enough to make you sick unless you’re cut from the same cloth. This is what led to billionaire Robert Mercer cutting ties with him recently and pulling his interests out of Breitbart in general.

The Republicans love nothing more than to slander their opponents with crimes they themselves are frequently guilty of. Hence Donald Trump, constantly misapplying the term fake news.

It’s interesting, how the people who have spoken out the most about sexual abuse over the years have so frequently been guilty of it themselves. Sigmund Freud called this tendency projection. It was his psychological theory describing the process by which humans avoid dealing with their own issues by attributing them to others.

Earlier this year, the infamous far-right troll Mike Cernovich spoke at Columbia University in New York City about the rise of alternative media. While he was there, some “protestors” showed up with a rather unexpected sign.

The sign in the picture said “no white supremacy, no pedo bashing, no Mike Cernovich” and displayed logos of “antifa” and NAMBLA, which supposedly stands for the North American Man/Boy Love Association.

There are aspects of the conduct of the “Antifa” organization we do not support, but it has to be granted they have nothing to do with NAMBLA.

Gothamist reporter Jake Offenhartz, who actually took the picture that Cernovich tweeted, mentioned in his original tweet that the sign was an “alt-right” plant. This type of manufactured incident often helps the right wing shift the national dialogue to deflect attention off their own perversions. They would like nothing better than to paint Democrats as the party of wingnuts and sexual deviancy.

Republican sex scandals, however, occur at least as often as do their Democratic counterparts. It’s always a riot when one of these breaks loose. The GOP prides itself on its firm commitment to pro-family and conservative values. Jerry Falwell’s Moral Majority comes to mind. All of it, however, has been used to conceal some very ugly truths, and this is the crux of the matter. Sex offenders, fascists, and other horrible criminals have infested the government, through the Republican Party.

When did it become cool, to become a sex offender? Who can stand a rapist? Or a child molester? How is it that we’re even considering letting these old leches hold the keys of power for us? And what does it say, about the men who are turning a blind eye? It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that there’s a long game here. They want to make it okay for men to do as they like with women again, and for a very specific reason.

In the 1990’s, ethnobotanist Terence McKenna used the term “The Archaic Revival” to describe his vision as to which direction society needs to be heading in, in order to secure a prosperous and healthy future for all humans, instead of just a few. The essence of it was interconnectedness between intelligence. Building bridges, strengthening ties, creating new bonds of cohesion for society.

Perhaps the most fundamental value of the Archaic Revival was its emphasis on valuing feminine energy as being crucial for the forging of those bonds.

All throughout the 90’s, that concept and many others like it emerged, gained potency, and coalesced into a strong movement. We have carried the torch. Millennials have overwhelmingly chosen to embrace the values of diversity that our parents, the baby boomer generation, fought so hard to secure for us before we were born.

We liked going to school with kids of other backgrounds. It made things interesting and fun. We got to know each other. We learned to work together, and that’s what we’ll be doing going into the future. That’s what Millennial Democrats is all about.

These things were largely made possible by the strengthening and unchaining of the power of womankind. Gone are the days when an educated woman was restricted to being either a teacher or a nurse. Reversing that state of affairs is what a great deal of this is about for the alt-right.

Disenfranchising women has been a goal of patriarchal elements of society since before we were writing things down. Believers in a system of hierarchy necessarily need people to lord it over. The well-being of the commonwealth has to fall by the wayside. The few must grow rich off the labor of the many. If everyone’s equal, the pyramid stays flat.

Not long ago, Donald Trump said that things have changed, and now they’re changing back. It must be realized that this is their goal. Televangelism and media combined with a well-polished party line, all designed to bring back the good old days of graft, corruption, and big bosses.

Breaking the back of cooperative, which is to say feminine, societal efforts to bring about a better way of life is therefore of fundamental importance to the new order they’re trying to bring about. This manifests itself in anti-union activities, for one working example.

Hillary Clinton recently discussed the culture of sexual assault, following media coverage of a plethora of new lurid complaints against Hollywood film producer and longtime Democratic donor, Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with the U.K.’s Channel 4 News shortly after the story broke, Clinton said:

“Look, we just elected someone who admitted sexual assault to the presidency. So there’s a lot of other issues that are swirling around these kinds of behaviors that need to be addressed,” Clinton said on the subject of the Weinstein scandal.”.

“I think it’s important that we stay focused, and shine a bright spotlight, and try to get people to understand how damaging this is,” she continued.

Going forward, we’re going to be doing just that. And the very first step is to help make sure that the only federal building Roy Moore steps into is a penitentiary. If you’re in Alabama, vote for Doug Jones. If you’re elsewhere, then send support every way you can. This fight is about us all, and we are going to win it, together.  Just like we did in New Jersey and Virginia. This #BlueWave is just getting started. Let’s use it to wash this crap right out of American life.

A Case Study in Fake News- Uranium One, The Scandal That Wasn’t.

The Uranium One story is a prime example of fake news.  It is a GOP talking point known to be false. That knowledge, however, is not very important to the Republicans, who have gone to great length to keep America talking about it this week.  The opposition has spent an awful lot of money to kick off the conversation.

The whole thing is a cheap attempt to shift the Russiagate narrative by blaming it all on Hillary Clinton.

As this was being written, the first news came back that Paul Manafort and his sidekick Rick Gates were indicted on money crimes going back to their Ukraine days. A jubilant Trump tweeted out a statement distancing himself from these activities.

But Mueller wasn’t finished. The true bombshell was yet to come.

It turns out that former foreign policy adviser, George Papadopoulos, had admitted lying to the FBI about contacts with foreign officials close to the Russian government who discussed “dirt” relating to emails linked to Clinton. He was quietly arrested on July 27. He’s been fully cooperating with the government ever since.

This is why we’ve spent the week hearing about the Uranium One deal.

The relation of truth to a given subject is not a considered factor when we’re talking about the Trump administration. This story was manufactured conservative disinformation from beginning to end. It has been threaded back into the national narrative as a political countersuit against Democrats.

It’s just Trump’s old Manhattan real estate strategy in his new role as president. This is the political equivalent of a countersuit. The ghost of Roy Cohn has got to be gnashing its teeth in glee, down there in hell.

Joy Reid recently summed up the Trump strategy by quoting from the presidential debate last summer. “I’m no puppet. You’re a puppet”.

The idea is that to relieve the pressure on him, Trump will attempt to shift the nation’s attention and anger toward Hillary Clinton.  Accuse your enemy, of that which you are guilty of. The concept is called swiftboating. Its purpose is to scare Democrats into shutting up and going home. To make us tap out due to fear for the safety of our leader. “You leave me alone, and I’ll leave you alone. If not, there will be trouble.”

This is the face of fascism.  Manufactured excuses. Rampant what-aboutism. Legitimate science is either discarded or adapted. It all becomes part of the new authoritarian ideology. It is then gradually dripped into the heads of the people by the likes of Boris Epshteyn and Sebastian Gorka.

This concept is not abstract, or something that only happens elsewhere. Companies like the Sinclair Broadcasting Company, which is said to be in talks with conservative TV show host Bill O’Reilly, will be threading pro- Trump messaging into every aspect of television. Their virulent brand of right-wing commentary and so-called “classic propaganda” may soon reach three-quarters of US households.

Insofar as Democratic involvement is concerned in the U1 deal, there’s nothing controversial at all. It’s an attempt to shift the national narrative back against Trump’s enemies and give his supporters some new and soothing lie to hold on to.

The important issue here is why this ordinary transaction was cooked up into a scandal in the first place; and the troubling implications that it has for the future of American democracy.

As to the details of the controversy surrounding Uranium One, they are not very controversial.

The company is a subsidiary of Rosatom, Russia’s state-owned nuclear technology corporation. In 2010, while Hillary Clinton was secretary of State, Rosatom wished to acquire a majority share of Uranium One. In order for it to share in the control of uranium mines in the United States, the sale had to be approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment In the United States (CFIUS).

Because the deal would ultimately place Uranium One in control of 20% of U.S. uranium production capacity, the transaction required federal approval. During the 2016 election campaign, Trump asserted that Clinton “gave 20% of our uranium — gave Russia for a big payment.” This is untrue on every level.

The mining licenses remained with U.S. subsidiaries controlled by U.S. persons. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission reviewed the transaction and gave its approval. All nine members of the CFIUS board voted for it with a clear conscience and say today they’d do the same again.

Uranium One does not hold the proper export license, so none of its uranium can be exported. It can never be taken to Russia and turned into nukes.

All the committee members have told everyone Clinton was not involved in the decision.

This “scandal” consisted of a Canadian company, the Northern Uranium Corporation,  selling a Russian company some stock in uranium.

The nuclear recycling angle, specifically the Koch Industries interest in the valuable uranium that comes out of them, is likely of tantamount importance here. The educated guess of one expert who spoke with Millennial Democrats under the conditions of anonymity is that the Kochs did not want the competition from recycled uranium.

Most likely, this was why they needed a reason to keep recycled uranium politically unpopular. They also needed a reason to keep Hillary Clinton unpopular. It would seem they put two and two together.

These two things have nothing to do with one another, but it proved easy to make it seem otherwise. This is where the slanderous spin on Uranium One came from.

This libel has no basis in any historical record. It comes out of a wingnut book called Clinton Cash. Its production was financed by an organization called the Government Accountability Institute. This is a conservative nonprofit founded by the book’s author, Peter Schweitzer. They teamed up with Breitbart’s Steve Bannon to conduct the research for the book. Billionaire Robert Mercer, the same guy who is still paying the bills for Breitbart News, signed the check on this one, too.

Needless to say, it has been thoroughly dismantled by experts.

The story was ridiculous and crooked back then, but its revival in the national dialogue at this particular time is troubling in the extreme. It means the RNC is willing to drag a private citizen into government affairs, for no reason other than to deflect attention from the truth. You don’t prosecute your political opponents using show trials and Congress in order to attack anything but the fabric of our democracy.

Going forward, the Uranium One slander serves as an excellent case study for the examining and reverse-engineering of Republican propaganda. There will be more of this to come than we can imagine; Russian ads alone reached over 120 million on Facebook this year.

By thinking critically and staying alert, however, we can spot these things as they come. We can dismantle them, dissect them, and lay bare their innards to the light.  In this manner, we will come to see how they work.

Then we hold them up as examples of the disingenuity of our opponents. Our job is to expose lies and bear witness.

There’s still a lot we can do. We still have everything it takes to fight the attempts of Trump and Putin at tyranny. The time-honored power of the vote can still save us. Make a specific plan for voting, and do what you can to get others to do the same. Once we take back the Congress, we can rid ourselves of Trump. In short, #RiseAndOrganize.

Democrats Keep The Dream Alive- Thank You, Chuck & Nancy!

The Democrats have found a way to save America’s Dreamers! The final details of an agreement that would protect hundreds of thousands of undocumented millennials and their children from deportation were being worked out as of Thursday morning.

Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi made a joint statement this morning, laying down the most important part. “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.” Trump denied that he had “cut a deal” with us Democrats, but was eager to reiterate the merits of the agreement.
The parameters of this deal are simple. Include a potential pathway to citizenship for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) participants, continue the use of border security strategies developed by the Obama administration, and leave that stupid wall unbuilt.
The President’s Republican allies in Congress, who were not invited to Wednesday evening’s dinner, were stunned for the second time this month. Some were immediately outraged. These developments certainly are a bombshell to the bumbling Republicans, who still have yet to score a single legislative victory of any importance, in spite of their holding sway in every branch of government at this time.
Democratic leaders have managed to get Trump to do something right, in spite of himself. This stunning new development has come hot on the heels of their agreement on the debt ceiling and government spending earlier this month. Had that not passed there would not have been disaster relief for the survivors of the terrible hurricanes that hit our shores this month.
For this reason, Republican lawmakers are afraid that Trump will end up signing legislation written by Democrats. Even the thought has infuriated conservative voters.

Representative Dave Brat, a Virginia Republican and member of the hard-line House Freedom Caucus, said a wall on the southern border was “what the whole election was about.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa said that if the deal is true, the “Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable and disillusioned beyond repair. No promise is credible.”

And Breitbart News, with Steve Bannon back at its helm, was disgusted beyond all belief, and immediately coined the nickname #AmnestyDon. It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that as nicknames go, this is the best Donald Trump is going to get.

It’s amazing, what having eyes can do in the land of the blind. Here the Republicans are, with all the power in the world, and absolutely helpless to use it. Thanks to their greed, incompetence, and overall moral bankruptcy, the GOP does not have a single idea that’s acceptable to anyone. They can’t even get along with each other.

And so, the biggest opportunity they have had to effect changes in their favor since George W. Bush’s first term is half over, with nothing done at all. Meanwhile, they have been busily slinging their feces at one another like a pack of wild baboons. They never even mention us. They count us as helpless without any official power in government.

That may be true, for now, but that comes and goes. What we do have, is an excellent plan for every aspect of life in America, and the personnel to match. Lacking that, the opposition is guaranteed a long term failure, so long as Trump doesn’t start a nuclear war.

The Republican Party is the source of many of the large- scale social ills in our culture, directly. By stoking and fueling the worst tendencies of humans to want to separate and pull away from one another, they create an environment that is incredibly difficult to get anything done in.

They refuse to accept change at every opportunity, their agenda is completely negative, and none of their positions will ever produce gains among persons of color. It is for this reason that the the GOP has so often found itself with its back to the wall. They consistently leave themselves no real alternative but to resort to a “white voter” strategy.

In the vacuum created by their negativity, the inexperienced and short-tempered president has not been able to get anything done. This has allowed Democrats a way to make some progress, and we have seized the day.

The way things are, all key initiatives will have to come from the Democratic party. Trump has boxed himself in to such an extent, that all eyes in America are tuned in, watching to see if the Democrats are going to be able to handle this  without letting themselves get outrageously used. So far, they have displayed the skill of a matador.

We are well aware that Donald Trump has made a lifetime’s work out of manipulating and lying his way through life. This was the case long before he entered the political arena. Before he could even think about receiving our help, which he desperately needs, he had to give many assurances and prepare to do some decent human things. It was an extremely unusual reversal of fortunes.

Under these bizarre circumstances, the unstoppable Schumer and Pelosi arrived at Wednesday’s dinner. They came prepared, with a specific list of border security items that Democrats could agree to, drawn from Trump’s own budget requests. They included new sensor technology for border monitoring, building and repairing, roads along the border, drones and air support for border enforcement. They were developed along similar lines to what Hillary Clinton had planned.

President Barack Obama, who was by far the toughest president on immigration in modern times, was often referred to by immigration groups as the “Deporter in Chief”. He found and refined some highly effective strategies, which Trump is now extolling the virtues of.

In one of recent history’s most extreme ironies, Trump, who reviled Obama for years, who refused even to accept him as a fellow American, who allegedly paid Russian prostitutes to pee on a bed he slept in– has followed his predecessor in everything.

The same plans, ideas, and people are running the government now as they were eight months ago. Heroic holdovers David Fox and Kathleen Grant were in command of FEMA’s ground forces for Hurricane Harvey. And the government shutdown he threatened repeatedly was averted by the aforementioned Schumer and Pelosi.

If Trump can manage to shut his mouth down, and do what his experts advise, we might just make it through this.
