Joe Biden Is A Good Man, Supporter of Bernie’s Slanders Does Not Change That.

Joe Biden is a good man.

When the news broke last week about Joe Biden being set on by far-left wolves over a hug, I’d have given my kingdom for a good strategy. Something like this is impossible to manage pleasantly. On the one hand, we’ve just seen the last of 2018, the Year of the Democratic Woman. The #MeToo movement won the Person of the Year award. On the other hand, Biden didn’t really do anything!

We have got to show the world we can perceive the difference between a legitimate sexual assault and-

Well, whatever this is.

For the record, at Millennial Democrats, we understand that it is very important that women be believed when they come forward with their stories.

For anyone who doesn’t understand the history behind that, it goes back to many decades, if not centuries, worth of female oppression. Symbolic of the situation were the countless rape trials in which the victim was put on trial far more than the man was, and that’s what we can never go back to. How many sexual partners has she had, how short was her skirt, et cetera. It was a sickening state of affairs, and no mistake.

Seeing rape culture wiped like the stain it is from human society is our goal, and we will fight for it with all we’ve got. #MeToo is significant, and it deserves our support.

That is why it has been all the more dismaying to see it weaponized, by the same callous right-wingers who built and have perpetuated American rape culture in the first place.

For make no mistake, this is just a hit job on the man most likely to be the next President of the United States of America- Joe Biden.

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. has been here for us for a long time. He served as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. Like us, he is a member of the Democratic Party. He represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009. He has made presidential runs before but ultimately ended up as Barack Obama’s right hand man instead, in 2008 and again in 2012.

Biden is a good man who has given his life in the service of the United States of America, and well worth supporting if he should end up being the candidate. As an aside, this article does not imply an endorsement at this time. It’s too early. But if, in the end, it is Biden, I’ll be very proud to stand behind his decades of expertise and experience.

Recently, a Bernie Sanders supporter named Lucy Flores accused Joe Biden of having given her- wait for it-

A hug.

I’ll respectfully pause here so that you can finish your horrified gasp.

Flores has not actually gone so far as to label this hug a “sexual assault” this week, claiming the hug was given on the campaign trail when she was running for Vermont lieutenant governor back in 2014.

That’s good, because even as it is, the amount of anti-Biden hatred being shouted around by Bernie’s crazy supporters is a disgrace. Making this appear to be a sexual assault, and acting outraged as though it were, is an insult to the legitimate struggles of everyone who has ever been sexually assaulted for real, from the beginning of time until now.

It is an absolutely rotten thing that this woman is doing, turning #MeToo into a poisoned dart, so much so that even her fellow residents of Bernieverse could not stay silent this time.

Tezlyn Figaro, who worked with Flores at Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) organization Our Revolution, has similarly felt compelled to speak out on Flores. From what it sounds like, she didn’t leave the best impression on her. She explained on “Fox & Friends” why she filed an EEOC complaint against her and why Biden should know his accuser is a “fraud” and a “racist”.

“You know, Vice President Joe Biden, if you are listening, you should know that Lucy Flores is a fraud,” Figaro said.

Tezlyn Figaro@TezlynFigaro
@morningmika U were right when you said shouldn’t we question political motives? Today I exposed the EEOC claim that I filed LAST year about Lucy’s retaliation efforts. After Lucy’s long history of schemes I am t/ONLY one that took legal action to fight back! @JoeNBC
Tezlyn Figaro@TezlynFigaro

#LucyFlores EXPOSED! This am on #FoxNews I EXPOSED the truth (backed up with the EEOC claim that I filed in August 2018) about #LucyFlores previous retaliation schemes. If everyone believes women then believe me when I say #LucyBLying #JoeShouldKnow #FraudAlert @JoeBiden @BillR

A lying Bernie Bot going for a Republican-style ratf*ck- Is this really still a shock to anyone?

We know Joe Biden! He is a good man, he has been a dedicated public servant. He has given his whole life in the service of this country. Are we really going to pretend like it’s okay to wipe that out over a hug? Never!

This is getting to the point of being a complete disgrace, just like it was when Roger Stone got Leeann Tweeden-a Fox News radio show host, no less- to try and call #MeToo on then-Minnesota senator Al Franken over an old picture taken on a comedy tour back in 2003 when the Iraq War was going on.

Franken resigned, too, and in my view, that was a big mistake. We needed him, we needed his voice, we needed his loyalty. They’ve been aiming to fell with snipers all the good Democrats they can, because they know we’re always going to be the ones in the way of their evil, wicked plans. At least we got Amy Klobuchar out of the deal, but still.

Tom Perez at the DNC summed it up the best. “People will judge Joe Biden by his lifetime of service,” he said excellently.

Do not buy in, America! We’ve got a guy on one hand who has treated women in a kind, gentle, and affectionate manner, and another guy who openly boasts of sexually molesting them, of using their private parts as something he can grab (to say nothing of Rape Fantasy Bernie)! Let’s make it clear to the world we can see the distinction.

Bombs Sent to Democratic Leaders- Fascism Rising in America.

Fascism is on the rise in the Trump era.

Despicable cowards tried to murder all our greatest Democratic leaders today.

Having typed that sentence, I could finish the article here. Sometimes the facts argue themselves; that sentence and a headline tell you all you need to know about this whole situation, something the whole nation ought to be outraged about.

Pipe bombs were sent to Hillary Clinton in New York and Barack Obama in Washington.

A similar device was sent to philanthropist and lifelong enemy of fascism George Soros, according to the pair of law officers who gave the statement. How rotten, to do a thing like this to that old man, a man who lost his parents to the Holocaust.

Way to pay back a guy for his lifetime of good works by making him the center of a million nutty theories(for example, we do not write for Soros, no matter how many times we are reviled for it) and then sending him a bomb. We are living in a country full of real sickos. That much has become all too clear.

More bombs were sent to CNN, forcing the evacuation of its NYC offices. CNN journalists courageously kept the cameras rolling from the Manhattan sidewalk below.

Bombs were also sent to Eric Holder, former Obama administration Attorney General, former CIA director James Brennan, former DNC chairman and Floridian Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida, and Representative Maxine Waters all received bombs as well. If the guy who did it would not have been such a slob, we’d have lost all our leaders today.

This newest violence is the response to Trump’s big “I’m a (white) nationalist” crap the other day. He’s been doing this all along.

Donald Trump has been inciting his followers to violence for years. He smirked during the debates as he made reference to the Second Amendment, and how “maybe there is something you can do,” a clear incitement to political assassination!

The GOP statement deploring violence is just another sickening deplorable lie. It makes no sense to believe them. The right wing wants us dead. They’ve been out for physical, literal blood for years, at least since Barack Obama’s election.

They will never, ever forgive the people who dared to put a black man in a White House.

Recently the founder of a right-wing gang with a name that does not merit mention came out with a video inciting Trump supporters to violence. “We will kill you,” he says in the video segment, which went viral. Murdering swine.

The first article this blog ever published was called Chaos in Charlottesville, written in response to the sickening lowlife who murdered Heather Heyer, a disgusting footnote to the modern era- like these bombs. Or James T. Hodgkinson, the wingnut Bernie Sanders supporter who shot up the Congress last year.

Here we could care less if you’re wearing a red shirt or a black one. We are against all those who hide behind masks to go smash things up. It’s not the American way to bash brains in on the streets instead of voting. Foreign radicalism has never taken deep root here, which means socialism, communism, and most of all fascism- until now.

Make no mistake. These days, fascism is rearing its head. “We will kill you…”

It is our opinion that people should stop taking the survival of American democracy for granted.

We are not invincible. It can happen here, “it” meaning a fascist takeover. Trump, to all appearances, is actively signaling “it”, and his followers are preparing for it. And they are making progress like no right-wing nationalist has since Adolf Hitler.

We have got to get people to realize that we have got to wake up now, or we could end up flat on our backs for the rest of our lives- or worse.

If Nazi Germany was reborn today on American soil, it would be us all to suffer.

Some as members of unwanted groups, some as political prisoners. Some of us would go to American style Dachau type camps, while others will be forced into silence or shot. They would take all our data off of Facebook and use it to round us up. These things have happened elsewhere. It is time to ask ourselves the question, What if?

The Republicans have been gradually going down this road for more than a hundred years. Why should we assume it’s impossible for them to succeed? The Founding Fathers feared this above all else- the evils of faction, shredding a nation’s fiber.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we’ve been covering all this since the start. We have seen this develop, we have spoken out at every turn. We will be here as long as we can, spreading the word and raising awareness.

This is our country, which we value and love. We will not abandon her.

Do Not Despair, America- Our Last Words From Senator John McCain.

R.I.P. Senator John McCain- a good and decent man.

America lost one of its very best recently, in the passing of John McCain. We lost a man with convictions, a man of courage.

A man who sat for nearly six years in a North Vietnamese P.O.W. camp, shot down in his Skyhawk and taken prisoner by the Vietnamese with four fractured limbs and yet still had the inner resources to come back from that so spectacularly that he was an elected American official within the next eleven months. We lost a man who voted with his conscience, instead of his unconscionable party. He will be sorely missed.

McCain was perhaps the last of a dying breed, a Republican with principles and decency. They called him the maverick, which pretty much meant that he cared about America. He was one of Trump’s most outspoken critics all the while that this was going on. At Millennial Democrats, we have looked at him as an ally. He was not among our number, but he was fighting for a lot of the same things.

He sure was worth about fifty billion of the malignant narcissist in the White House now.

McCain asked Presidents Barack Obama and George. W. Bush to deliver eulogies at his funeral, while Trump will stay away. He’s spent the whole event grousing about how McCain’s funeral coverage in the media is “over the top“, and wouldn’t even lower the flags to half-mast until the Pentagon got ahold of him ringing his bell.

He was probably thinking about his ratings, as if the death of one of the best Americans who ever lived would have come in second best, compared to the Apprentice.

Trump sent a cursory tweet on Saturday -“My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!” but mostly he just pulled childish garbage and turned the whole thing into a commentary about him.

He did not spare one word for the man himself. What a worthless piece of trash.

I try and leave these types of observations to myself, at the very least for decorum’s sake, but sometimes there’s just nothing else to say. Our president is worthless. Worse than worthless. He is actively corrosive. We would be better off pulling presidents at random as if it were jury duty, than we are with this thief who stole our 2016 election. It just kills me some days.

Good thing there’s a nice strong Blue Wave coming along to smash this debauchery of a man right into the ocean, and scour the White House clean again. On November 6th, when we Democrats retake at least the House of Representatives, we will have you in mind, Senator.

Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here,” the Republican senator and former GOP presidential nominee wrote in a letter read by advisor Rick Davis on Monday.

“Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history. Farewell fellow Americans, God bless you, and God bless America.”

God bless you as well, sir. Thank you for all you did for us.

R.I.P. Senator John Sidney McCain III(R-AZ). August 29, 1936 – August 25, 2018.

Supreme Court Upholds Travel Ban, Ruptures American Dream.

And Justice For All.

The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Donald Trump acted lawfully when he called for the US to begin a policy of banning anyone, most notably persons of Islamic faith, who live in a certain seven countries last year and has upheld his right to continue doing so.

It’s a dark day for democracy worldwide. So the Republicans are actively celebrating.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) marked the Supreme Court ruling upholding President Trump’s travel ban by sharing a photo of himself with Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

McConnell’s campaign shared the image just minutes after the Supreme Court handed down its 5-4 ruling finding that the ban was constitutional. Gorsuch sided with the majority of justices upholding the ban.

Gorsuch is the guy Trump picked out to replace former Chief Justice Antonin Scalia after he died. He was brought in to rubber-stamp Trump’s decisions, and the whole Supreme Court has been corrupted because of it.

Scalia was a miserable excuse for a man who was against everything except the death penalty. Little kids in cages? Banning entire populations of countries from so much as visiting here? He’d have loved this.

This is why the Republicans were so desperate to block President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland.

This is not the first time the Supreme Court has been wrong. The Dred Scott case comes to mind. That very same court once ruled that it was acceptable to treat humans as cattle and that Africans were only 3/5 human.

The first Muslim elected to Congress, Keith Ellison, predicted on Tuesday that the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Donald Trump’s travel ban will end up in “the dustbin of history”, and this is almost certainly true.

During the interim, however, this is undoubtedly a tremendous win for both Trump and future holders of the executive branch of our government, and such a win could not have come at a worse time. It is certain to embolden both a man and a party who already have no respect whatsoever for the spirit of the law.

Fox anchor Abby Huntsman recently referred to Trump as a dictator, live and on the air, as he strolled around with his good buddy Kim Jong Un of North Korea, another guy who has no respect for human rights.

“I called both President Trump and Kim Jon Un a dictator”, Huntsman explained.

It’s Jong Un, ma’am, but we’re not going to quibble.

At the time, we had this to say about the aforementioned exchange:

The incompetence of the enemy is no longer funny, and in our opinion, it’s probably being done on purpose. The lady tried walking the statement back with an apology but the seed has been planted just the same. They’re sending subtle, almost subliminal cues, and if we listen carefully, we too can catch their meaning.

If Trump is a dictator, and Fox reports on it as being normal, then all of their viewers necessarily believe that they are now subjects and that democracy has fallen and they’re fine with it.

Several weeks ago, the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren, was asked by news host Rachel Maddow if she thinks America is still a country who respects the rule of law. Her response?

“I hope so.”

These words ring true with even greater solidity now that Trump’s anti-Muslim travel ban, which violates everything about the spirit of American law, has been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Going forward, our focus will be the raising of awareness that Trump really is walking down an autocratic road, and that Trump and the Republicans have decided to make themselves into active enemies of the American dream.

In order to get people to realize it, we’ve got to make the case. We’ve got to gather and arrange the evidence and lay it on the American people’s doorstep. Republicans have dropped the ball by every conceivable metric. They have failed us at every turn. Let’s make sure they are properly credited.

Racist Bernie Bros and Joy Reid- When Progressives Impede Progress.

This is what we're fighting.

A group of fanatical Bernie Sanders supporters went scrounging around the Internet recently, digging up old blog posts of a homophobic nature published many years ago by JoyAnn Reid, host of MSNBC’s popular morning talk show AM Joy.

There are no doubt the content of the posts were wrong. Reid apologized for the unkind things she’d said in the past, owned it, and moved forward. Her apology serves as a model for us all.

But that is not the issue here. Those posts were dug up and released for a reason. And genuine concern over the threat Joy Reid might pose to the LGBT community does not appear to be it.

It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that it happened because Reid’s past political commentary has been critical of Bernie Sanders.

One recent article published by Medium’s Investigator recently was called “The Twitter lynching of Joy Ann Reid by the Bernie Left.”

An outsider might be taken aback by the vehemence of such a statement, especially as a headline. But it happens to be true. And its contents tell a very ugly story.

An Internet campaign was started by Bernie supporters under the hashtag #FireJoyReid in November 2017 after Reid “made the mistake” of mentioning Jane Sanders in a series of tweets.

Jane Sanders flipped out.

“Don’t ever use me to demean my husband,” she shot at Reid on Twitter.

The ongoing conflict between Reid and Sanders supporters is something anyone can witness for themselves, through a quick Google search for “Joy Reid Bernie Sanders.”

Their hatred of Joy Reid is fanatical at best. At worst it is dangerous and insane, like Bernie supporter James T.Hodgkinson, who shot up the Congress last summer and winged Rep. Steve Scalise.

From 2015 forward, a group of extreme leftists has systematically harassed, stalked and targeted for doxing black activists, journalists, and contributors on Twitter and other social media sites. The list includes many notable figures, such as Donna Brazile, Kamala Harris, Maxine Waters, and Joy Reid.

Medium’s Investigator did the research necessary to identify its core members- a tightly knit group of Bernie Bros.

They identify usually as members of the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America), and they all proudly proclaim to have voted for Jill Stein.

Among many other unpleasant characteristics, the group makes a practice of producing, tweeting, and retweeting racist pictures, like this one of Kamala Harris.

People of color, and watermelon. Real clever, right?

Behind this campaign is the fact that a lot of black voters didn’t vote for Bernie. The anger this produced by a part of the Bernie left has been gigantic. That’s hard to understand, given Bernie’s record, but that is beside the point.

Image result for Racist Bernie Bros and Joy Reid

This Millennial Democrats contributor would be hard-pressed to think of a single other circumstance, in which white people could treat black people like this, without hardly a soul being outraged.

The Sanders insurgency is largely a white revolution. All the talk about Sanders representing the future of the Democratic Party because of his titanic popularity among young people ignores a crucial factor.

Minority voters weren’t buying it.

Back in 2016, when Hillary Clinton won big in the Southern primaries, Sanders sniffed that scheduling early primaries in the South “distorts reality.” The message that sends? They’re just black voters.

Anecdotally, this writer remembers being told during the election, that the South “did not matter”, because their states would go red in the general election. Were that to be accepted as truth, it would disenfranchise half the country’s Democrats and a huge percentage of the black ones.

Back in 2014, during a number of interviews, Bernie described the type of voters he wanted to appeal to.

He says working-class white voters have abandoned Democrats in large numbers. The party, he says, has “not made it clear that they are prepared to stand with the working-class people of this country, take on the big money interests.”

And more recently, when he scoffed at President Barack Obama on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, his comments made it all too clear just how greatly he values the rest.

Well, here’s what you got. What you got is an African-American president, and the African-American community is very, very proud that this country has overcome racism (Editor’s note-????) and voted for him for president. And that’s kind of natural. You’ve got a situation where the Republican Party has been strongly anti-immigration, and you’ve got a Hispanic community which is looking to the Democrats for help.”

“But that’s not important.”

We beg to differ, Senator Sanders.

Right now, in America, racism is the strongest it has been since the 50’s. We all remember what happened in Charlottesville last summer, and that is far from the only notorious example.

A Virginia newspaper ran a full KKK recruitment flyer as its front page ad earlier this week.

This week a video showed up online exhibiting a white manager of a Plano, Texas, restaurant making a blatant attempt to kick out a prominent black couple dining in his restaurant after they refused to give up their seat to a white customer. He threatened the couple with the police.

It is very important that the left be there for persons of color, especially at a time like this. The racist right is on the attack beyond anything recent decades have seen. We have to be there in stark opposition. It’s part of what it means to be a Democrat.

There is no word in the English language that the Democratic Socialist supporters of Bernie Sanders like to use more than progressive. They’re convinced they’re the only ones with any right to it.

But if progressive values do not include fighting racism and sticking up for at-risk groups, then what exactly is progressive about them?

The Bernie supporters who have been savaging Joy Reid ought to take a good look at themselves.

The Difference of a Decade- Joy Reid’s Apology.

#MillennialDemocrats

Joy Reid, the popular host of MSNBC’s weekend show AM Joy, has recently been under fire.

Newly uncovered blog posts published on her now-defunct blog, the Reid Report, took a mocking tone toward people in the LGBTQ community in the mid-to-late 2000s. The comments do not bear repeating, so we won’t repeat them; suffice it to say, they required a sincere apology.

Her first reaction upon seeing the old posts was that her blog had been hacked and defaced, a suspicion that seems natural after all that’s taken place since 2016. This could not be proven, however, so she retracted the claim, responsibly admitting that she doesn’t really know what happened. She may have said those things.

So Joy unreservedly made the apology. She explained that she grew up in a household that had conservative views on the LGBTQ community. A lot of us did. This does not excuse hurtful speech, but it identifies an individual’s upbringing as its point of origin.

Her apology has been largely accepted, and she is being supported by many in the LGBT community.

She also hosted a panel with LGBTQ activists about the blog posts and took accountability for them face to face. And she apologized for newly resurfaced tweets in which she made transphobic remarks that suggested conservative pundit Ann Coulter is a man.

People of all ages are products of their environment. We are influenced by the times in which we grow up. The whole country has evolved regarding LGBTQ issues.

Even Barack Obama evolved on the issue, going from supporting only Civil Unions in his early years to fully support same-sex marriage, and sending his Department of Justice in to help convince the Supreme Court to rule so.

Five years ago gay marriage was still a long way off, and issues like bathrooms for transgender persons hadn’t fully made it onto the American radar. The general attitudes of society towards these people and their needs was negative for a long time. The state of affairs was a travesty, but it was also the way things were.

Fortunately for everyone, that is changing more and more every year. People have at least started down the road to knowing better these days, and that clearly includes Joy Reid.

She’s a strong leader, one of the left’s most powerful and recognizable voices. She has used that voice to help people. No way are we going to throw her under the bus over nasty remarks made years ago. We’ll stick up for those who have stuck up for us. We still remember what was done to Al Franken.

The point to emphasize is that she has recognized her past comments as being insensitive and she has made clear that is not how she feels today.

Millennial Democrats have been fortunate enough to grow up in a world where these sorts of issues are being worked on and improved. Things were very different for our parents and teachers in older generations of Americans, and that becomes truer the further back you go.

In 2016, when the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states, Barack Obama spoke these words, hours after the high court’s decision was announced.

“Progress on this journey often comes in small increments, sometimes two steps forward, one step back.”

These kinds of things are going to come out over time, and we have to make sure that we don’t let the enemy split the left or pick off our leaders using them. We are all in this together, and we are going to make mistakes sometimes. Joy’s apology makes the point very well.

“I have not been exempt from being dumb or cruel or hurtful to the very people I want to advocate for,” she said on Saturday. “I own that. For that, I am truly, truly sorry.”

“I’m hoping, out of all of this, there’s an opportunity to talk about the ways in which hurtful speech really does imperil marginalized communities,” Reid said.

We’ll be heading forward in that direction.

U.S. And Allies Strike Syria- The Importance Of Law.

Respect the rule of law

Great Britain and France joined the United States in launching strikes against targets at three sites in Syria in the early hours of Saturday morning, the latest chapter in a years-long civil war that has drawn in half a dozen countries.

“I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,” Trump said late Friday at the White House.
The strikes were launched at 9 p.m. ET. It was nighttime. Photos showed missiles streaking over the night sky in Syria, and witnesses told CNN they heard explosions in Damascus, as Trump was making his address.
The key thing to remember here is that in this case, it doesn’t matter who the President is. No U.S. President would have done anything else. Those strikes were earned, by the conduct of Assad. It’s important to realize we’ve got to stand by our nation, even if the current President isn’t competent.
From a military and strategic perspective, the strikes were actually not a bad idea. The situation demanded an unequivocal response. They sent a message that chemical attacks on human beings will not be tolerated in our world.
However, the rule of law dictates that the president take heed of the fact that Congress needed to authorize the strikes. The president does not have the power to do this on his own.
This whole thing is about the importance of law. Respecting it, obeying it, maintaining the spirit of it. That is why chemical weapons are not allowed in the first place.
That is why, when Assad gassed his own people the first time, in 2013, President Obama asked for a Congressional Resolution before hitting Syria.
Obama canceled his planned airstrikes in 2013 because congressional leaders refused to call a vote on it- all the while ripping him to shreds for not acting.
A few Republicans and more Democrats demanded Trump seek authority for future missile strikes from Congress, which under the Constitution and the 1973 War Powers Resolution is required to approve military action.
Unbelievably, Susan Sarandon tweeted an article about Hillary calling to bomb Syrian airfields. As if to say, “see? Hillary and Trump are the same!

A quick word as to the difference; HRC called for the air strike to prevent Assad from dropping sarin gas. Trump just randomly lashed out.

The lack of attention to law paid by our President cast a disturbing light on the incident; also disturbing is that Trump tweeted out that he was going to do it.

He, in essence, warned the Russians. France and the UK did not telegraph their intentions, for reasons of unsound military strategy.

A number of tweets popped up, saying Russian troops moved out before the strikes happened.
Why is a US president working with France and Britain, yet signaling to Russia our every move? One wonders what England has to say about that.

Putin clearly has something on Trump, and it’s hard to think that this can all go on right alongside everything else without the two incidents crossing paths.

Mike Pompeo was boasting last week that in February, U.S. troops “killed a couple hundred Russians“, after a company of them crossed over the Euphrates, but it’s troubling they felt strong enough to try. Putin knows his economy is roughly that of Italy’s; it makes you wonder, what he thinks his leverage is worth.

Regarding Russia, the Pentagon’s fear, all along, has not been of their actual strength, but rather that Putin is getting old and sloppy and might be emboldened into making a fatal misstep.

And when he started threatening to attack our bases, if we did fire any missiles, it started reminding me of the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 60’s.

Millennials, this is how our parents must have felt, back in the day.

Going forward, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this and reporting on how it develops. For all those who live in dark times such as these, the task is given to spread light around all we can, and to bear witness for future generations. This is the news, after all, and will soon be part of history. These are our times, and this is our battle. We will raise awareness, and stay alert.

Syrian War Heats Up- Thanks, GOP, For Obstructing President Obama.

New chemical attacks cause new hostilities.

The Syrian Civil War has recently flared back up. A chemical attack in the suburb of Douma over the weekend killed at least 49 people. This has worsened relations between the United States and Russia, which are far from good already.

Assad’s government is a sham. It only exists because Putin has forces there propping it up. Even still, the Kremlin has rejected the conclusion that Syria’s military was behind the chemical attack, asserting that it was staged by militants to falsely blame the government and justify an American strike against the Assad regime.

Several weeks ago, on March 13th, top military officers who answer to Putin threatened to attack the U.S. military in Syria, if Trump orders our troops to defend the region.

Russian Army General Valery Gerasimov warned on Tuesday that the U.S. was preparing to launch raids against Moscow’s ally, the Syrian government, as it attempted to clear out pockets of insurgents- some of which were once backed by the West- in the suburbs of the capital city of Damascus.

Gerasimov, who acted as chief of Russia’s general staff and deputy defense minister, claimed that the U.S. would strike under the “false pretense” of a chemical weapon attack, and vowed to do us damage if we did.

Syrian use of chemical weapons, of course, is what led to President Barack Obama drawing a “Red Line in the Sand” in the first place, back in 2013, but the Russians won’t even admit that Assad is using them.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters in Moscow that they believe the United States is seeking to entrench itself in the country. “The U.S. is taking steps not to leave as President Trump said, and leave Syria for others, but to establish a foothold there for a very long time,” Mr. Lavrov said.

Lavrov repeated the Russian claim that our very presence in Syria is illegal, and demanded American forces leave the country immediately.

The scale of Russian lying, about this and every other matter, will be difficult for future generations to even conceive of.

Regardless of whatever else is going on, and no matter who is in the White House, America is not going anywhere at the beck and call of Russia or any other power. That’s out.

In America, the office of President is not absolute, which is why whatever Putin has on Trump did not prove to be enough to scare the rest of our great nation away. It is starting to look like we’re finally going to do something about Syria.

The thing about it is that all this should have been done years ago, in 2013, when Assad used chemical weapons the first time.

President Obama had an excellent plan to deal with it. He declared it a red line and asked Congress for an Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) He was refused by the Republicans.

It was argued about for years, but ultimately the GOP-held Congress never took a full vote on an ISIS war authorization.

There were various excuses given, but it is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that the Republicans didn’t want Obama to have a chance to take care of the problem.

They wanted to be able to point backward and say well, Obama wouldn’t get tough on Syria, and look where we are.

The concern going forward is that the Republicans will be able to set this narrative down as history. It’s important for us to raise awareness of the fact that the Republicans made this mess.

They want to monopolize the concept of “war president”. It was the only good thing anyone ever had to say about George W. Bush, after all, and they like to think of themselves as hawkish and tough.

Except that in holding up the resolution and halfheartedly approaching the situation, they gave Russia the opportunity of a lifetime.

In the last analysis, allowing the Russians into Syria worked out very well for both them and the Republicans. The status quo of obstructing Obama had always included a policy of doing nothing. It must have been nice, lounging around the Congress all these years, goldbricking willfully on the taxpayer’s dollar.

The real question now is whether or not that comfortable state of affairs will reassert itself. If Putin backs off, it might, but that’s seeming less and less likely. The Russian tyrant has been emboldened greatly by Trump’s weakness.

There is no doubt that this has now become an extremely complex problem, but it’s got a simple solution. All we have to do is vote out the people who allowed it all. Vote the Republican party out of existence. Bring Democrats back in, and the best minds in the nation will solve the problem.

Vote Democratic. This year, and every other year, until the end of time.

Stand Up for Nancy Pelosi! Dedicated Democrat, National Treasure.

Stand up for those who have stood up for you.

Nancy Pelosi is a hero. Plain and simple. There is simply no other way to say it.

This person has stood firm for us for years. That is why she has been the target of the Republicans, for years.

This Millennial Democrats contributor happens to remember that Bill O’Reilly was on the radio the night of Obama’s victory in 2008 calling her “dangerous”.

This is why National Review, Breitbart, and Townhall have got Google locked down this morning when you type in her name.

The treatment of Nancy Pelosi as of late by the far left, in particular, is despicable. It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that to bite the hand that feeds is the behavior of a spoiled child. This person has been one of our most dedicated and historical leaders.

What is driving this need to savage one of our most gifted and able leaders? It certainly isn’t any fault of hers. Pelosi is one of the most skillful political tacticians in America.

She and Chuck Schumer even had good luck for a while, talking sense into Trump on the DACA deal, until Sean Hannity was allowed to overrule them.

In 2005, when becoming House Speaker was still a hope rather than a reality, Pelosi played a central role in destroying efforts by George W. Bush to try partially privatizing Social Security. When fellow Democrats asked her when she might release a competing plan of her own, her reliable answer, according to one aide, was, “Never. Does never work for you?” It worked. Bush’s effort was a fiasco.

But it wasn’t until Pelosi became Speaker of the House and had the support of a Democratic White House that the conditions arose for her to truly become a legend.

The Atlantic’s Andy Kroll wrote that “Pelosi muscled through one major piece of legislation after another: the $840 billion stimulus package, the Affordable Care Act, the Dodd-Frank banking-reform bill, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and the Waxman-Markey climate bill.”

She has a talent for organizing a cohesive caucus that is without equal. “You build your consensus in your caucus, and when you’re ready, you set the date to bring it to the floor,” she has explained, drawing a contrast between Democrats and Republicans. “This isn’t something where we ever go in and say: here’s the bill, now we need you to vote for it the day after tomorrow. That isn’t the Democratic Party. Some people criticize us for being such a Democratic Party, but that’s who we are.”

Building up that consensus is the part of the handiwork that the public doesn’t see. Only few can manage it, and none without decades of experience.

Nancy Pelosi got her degree in political science back in 1961. Whosoever wants to throw away that kind of skill and professionalism at the exact time when the country needs it most is, to put it mildly, lacking a thorough knowledge of the subject.

It has become a cliche to try and distance oneself from her or to say some crap about how she’s got “baggage”. This is what you call cowardice. It’s indecent. Period. It joins the Republicans and the loony left extremists in slinging filth at someone who doesn’t deserve it.

Republicans will be running nasty campaign ads linking Democratic candidates to Nancy Pelosi, whether or not she is still Speaker. That’s what they do. Long after she’s retired, that will be a dirty trick they use.

So stop falling for it! Stick up for your friends! Stick up for those who have helped you! Attacking your own side is good for no one but your opponents.

Nancy Pelosi has led Democratic resistance to Donald Trump since the day he won the election.

We are very proud of her.

And we will never give her up.

Preserving the Dream- Martin Luther King Day in the Trump Era.

First MLK Day in the Trump Era

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday of special importance. It’s a day on which Americans come together, to mourn the passing of a man who gave his life for the betterment of mankind, and to celebrate the vitality of the magnificent dream he built his life around.

We celebrate our diversity on this day, together, because we know that’s really what makes America great. Variety is the spice of life.

Past years have seen American presidents take it seriously. In 1983 President Ronald Reagan signed a bill making Martin Luther King Jr. Day a federal holiday. Since then, US presidents have typically observed the holiday publicly, making remarks or attending events honouring the day.

Donald Trump spent his MLK Day at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The only event on the White House daily public schedule was the flight that brought him back to Washington in the afternoon.

Ultimately, it’s best he didn’t try, as anything he could possibly have said would have been a ludicrous falsehood. He’s said enough already.

” I’m not a racist,” Trump said, to a room full of reporters on Sunday. “I’m the least racist person you have ever interviewed.”

Whenever people go around talking about how not racist they are, they’re lying.

Trump also took the opportunity to further deny that he had used the term “shithole countries” to describe Haiti and a number of African nations, but everybody knows.

The problems with Trump’s attacks on persons who are not rich white men seems to grow bigger every day.

News outlets and social media accounts have been overflowing with reports of a whole variety of hate-fueled attacks. Slate.com catalogued 1064 such incidents of this kind to take place since last January.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has repeatedly criticized the president for his attitudes and conduct, categorizing the net of their emulation as “the Trump effect“.

It has called the syndrome a virus in our country. It has catalogued 1064 such incidents since Trump took office last November. Most Americans have heard of Charlottesville’s victim Heather Heyer by now. Sadly, she is far from being the only casualty.

Members of the Ku Klux Klan were arrested for stabbing three people in Anaheim, California.

Student Richard Collins III was killed by a white supremacist days before his graduation from the venerable HBCU Bowie State University. A man named Sean Urbanski walked up to him as he waited for an Uber with friends, and allegedly yelled, “Step left, step left if you know what’s best for you!” As this directive was not complied with, Urbanski stabbed Collins in the chest.

In other news, Cliven Bundy, the white rancher who decided to forcefully conquer government land a while back, was set free on Monday.  The incident didn’t lead to violence, but that’s only because President Obama happened to be a kindly man. They just turned off their electricity and waited until it got cold for them all to surrender, which they did.

It’s doubtful that even many Trump supporters would argue it would have happened the same way if Cliven Bundy and his followers were black.

During the eight years of the Obama presidency, we made progress in the field of anti-racism. But whenever progress is made, there’s always going to be a period of reaction. We are seeing a wave of reaction now that is very powerful.

Plainly stated, the deplorables will never forgive any one of us that voted for Obama. Those who dared to put a black man in a White House will be hated by this type for all eternity. Because no matter what they do, no matter what laws they unwrite or what executive orders they reverse, they can never go back in time and make it so that all of our Presidents were white again.

And that’s what it’s really all about. Ann Coulter said it with total candor, Adam’s apple bobbing like a cork in a wine bottle. Make America white again. That’s the great America the Trump supporters recall and want back. That’s what they thought was great about it.

It’s a sad thing.

At any rate, a new study has shown that support for Trump is correlated with a standard scale of modern racism.

A higher level of contact with diverse groups of people has been shown to reduce prejudice.

2016 study found that “the racial and ethnic isolation of white people at the zip-code level is one of the strongest predictors of Trump support.” As such, it’s important to note that Trump’s white supporters have experienced significantly less contact with minorities than other Americans.

This makes it much easier to fear and hate the people they consider outsiders. History has shown us where that goes.

On April 4, 1968, James Earl Ray stood in the bathtub of a shared bathroom, balanced his rifle on a window ledge and shot Martin Luther King Jr. dead, as the civil rights leader was standing on a balcony outside of his motel room.

The same animus that drove that hateful crime is alive and well and cavorting in the streets of today’s America. And it is getting stronger. Every day that malignant orange tumour is polluting the Oval Office is another day the problem gets worse.

However, we are not without recourse. By coming together in unity, by organizing, by refusing to accept, we can outlast any dictator. We’ve got to keep raising awareness, and we’ve got to keep speaking out.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
