Trump’s SOTU Cheered as Venezuelan Socialism Falls- How Right Wing Gets Mileage From Far Left.

Trump's SOTU Cheered for Anti-Socialist Theme he stole from us.

As the Venezuelan crisis worsens, and the country’s failing socialism system continues to demonstrate why the likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are foolish, we are seeing the illegitimate president Trump’s new strategy at work. Now the long game becomes clear. Using no less a mouthpiece than the 2019 State of the Union Address, Trump both charted his 2020 strategy and scored big points by taking the time to score a shot on socialism, vowing that America will never be a socialist country.

It’s a little late to stand on that now, Donald, but we don’t kid ourselves that will stop you from trying.

This is what we’ve been warning against all along. The fake left is just as anti-Democrat as the right; why? How is it that their interests always manage to coincide? What were they playing at? Why has Trump been so soft on socialism until now? Why not during the election, when America really needed to hear all of our leaders saying it?

Because then it would have been too early.

In Ocasio-Cortez, in the few very loud members of our generation that have been hoodwinked into supporting this truly evil and invasive form of government, the Republicans now have a walking personification of all they have been fighting with their money to create: a just accusation that Democrats are socialists, and that to support us is to personally become the vector of socialism.  It’s George McGovern all over again.

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan situation provides a vivid example of how big disaster socialism can be. At the end of the SOTU speech, Trump did what he’s going to be doing a lot- pointing to Bernie Sanders in silence, looking horrified, waiting for the people to become so disgusted they can’t take it and vote against their interests. Policy be damned, they will say. Look at that blue clown suit. I would rather burn than have that guy as my president.

The claim that we Democrats are going to turn America into a Venezuelan socialist hellscape looks like something new, but as every reader of this blog will be aware, they’ve been laying the groundwork for it for the last several years. Contrary to Trump’s new narrative, the Democratic Party has never embraced Bernie Sanders. We do share some policies, but he goes too far with them and makes them look ridiculous. Now he’s got AOC there with him, screaming for seventy percent income tax rates on the rich and protesting Nancy Pelosi over climate change.

In the meantime, Tulsi Gabbard got involved as well, protesting Trump’s decision to condemn Maduro, which is about the one thing he has ever done right.

On both extremes of the political spectrum, everyone and everything they have is engaged in making the Democratic Party appear to be tilting left, at just the right moment for Trump.

“It seems to me that DJT has zero interest in expanding his coalition, and is going all-in on making the Democratic alternative unpalatable, hence the focus on opposing ‘socialism,’ ” the Republican strategist Michael Steel, a former senior adviser to the House G.O.P. leadership, told the New Yorker’s Susan B. Glasser in an e-mail the morning after the speech.

The entire Trump era, in many ways, feels like a return to the days of Richard Nixon. Parallels abound in terms of personnel, power, and politics. Perhaps above all else, a feeling that a growing extremity is pervading our country and reaching a dangerous level is strongly troubling American consciousness. It feels like chaos is everywhere. In such circumstances, history has shown that just about anything can happen.

One wonders if that isn’t the socialistic schemers’ whole point.

Cold War-era divisions have emerged along the same old lines as always. Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro is backed by Russia, China, and Cuba, which don’t want to lose an ally in the region. He has accepted billions in Russian and Chinese aid as his country’s economy  has exploded, and is now deeply indebted to some guys that are even worse than him. The Russian government has said it is considering installing an airbase in Venezuela, and there’s no doubt at all he’d let them do it. One wonders how Trump’s tough talk on Venezuela will jive with this desire of his boss. It’s one thing to stand up to a pack of screaming wingnuts, Donald. Try standing up to Putin for a change, why don’t you.

The Venezuelan situation, complete with right-wing exiles now involved in the political scene of Miami, brings us back to the good old days of international rancor over Latin American populist revolutions. One of the standard tropes of the Nixon era was the constant trouble over the Cuban Revolution, an event which saw its sixty-year anniversary pass by last month.

In that troubled time, revolutionary leader Fidel Castro managed with the help of the famous Che Guevara to overthrow the unpopular strongman Fulgencio Batista. Having done it, he went on to construct what he promised would be a more egalitarian Cuban regime. Soon after, he made sure to announce formally what U.S. military leaders and top officials had long known anyway- that this regime would be a communist one.

In a televised address not long after, Castro declared, “I am a Marxist-Leninist and shall be one until the end of my life.” He went on to state that, “Marxism or scientific socialism has become the revolutionary movement of the working class.”

The American right was empowered by that enough to justify decades worth of grotesque savagery. Shadows of doubt will always loom over the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

It’s important to note what Castro said there about socialism, “scientific” or otherwise. True communism, as envisioned conceptually by Karl Marx, is very different from the centralized socialism that grew into fruition in places like Cuba and the Soviet Union. The idea was to give over national resources to the working class, to be administered in some unknown way, at which point these completely unprepared and unsuspecting people are sent off to go to town creating a utopia (the Greek word for “nowhere”).

No one knows what that utopia might have looked like since it never happened.

What did happen was socialism, meaning that the State took ownership of absolutely everything and set about instantly setting itself up as the sole power in the land, choosing for everyone what they would have and not have, and creating a new type of elite based on party loyalty and bureaucratic efficiency. One tiny central hub, e.g. Moscow, controls every scrap of land and enjoys total autonomy within it. Every evidence shows this practice to have caused an unreal amount of human misery everywhere it has been tried; for example, China locked an entire ethnic population, the Uighurs, more than a million deep into labor camps last fall. This is not a dream.

Then as now, and in those countries as in Venezuela, the whole sloppy mess was a disaster. It starved five million people to death in the first five years of Vladimir Lenin’s reign when the Soviet Union was born. It was not well thought out, to try and apply a political theory off the pages of a book to actual human society. Socialism is something to be avoided completely and utterly, and Americans are aware of it. It is one thing we were taught in school that is all but inarguably true- not that this stops certain people from arguing it anyway.

All this history lessoning aside, we can all see what’s going on here. Trump is making a big show out of his sudden anti-socialism posture, but actually, it’s disingenuous in the extreme for him to do so. He has subscribed all along to the usual American far-right strategy, which is to consider liberals the true enemy, not communists or socialists.

This is why Trump sided with Bernie Sanders in 2016. Instead of saying at that time, Socialism is a disaster and we should all come together on this, he chose to court a bromance with the Bern and reviled us for “stealing” the election from the man Hillary Clinton beat by nearly four million votes. His base has oft-repeated this slanderous claim.

Trump waited until Nancy Pelosi gave him permission to give the 2019 SOTU before he would finally go after the fake left. We’ve been here cleaning house the whole time, and he wants to co-opt all the hard work we Democrats have done. He thinks it’s the right time to cash in. But long before the day this started, the right has done all it can to empower and incite the socialists because they know it will make things harder for us. They want Ocasio-Cortez to be the face of our Party more than anything.

Now they’ve got their Goldstein, in the 1984 scenario.

In reality, of course, Democrats are the ones on the front lines of the struggle against socialism. The reason for this is simple. American democracy is the only pillar in the world still holding up the idea of human freedom, and it’s under attack from every angle. The only people in the world who are here to protect it are us, Democrats. When the Proud Boys and Antifa come in masks, to brawl in the streets and smash windows out, we’re the ones who break it up and send them all home or to jail.

The far right uses the far left to manipulate the public all the time. That’s what agent provocateurs are for. That’s what the Nixon era taught us, and it’s why we need to be so careful now.

It’s important to realize that this could have deep implications for us. Florida is one of the most key of all the swing states, as anyone who remembers the 2000 presidential race was stolen from Al Gore can tell you. The political scale there is so evenly weighted that percentages involving tenths of a percent are often what decide its elections.

For Trump to gain support from the Venezuelan emigre community of Miami at this time would be extremely bad for our chances in 2020. He is hitting a lick off posturing as anti-socialist, but he did the opposite in 2016. Going forward, it will be incumbent upon us to raise awareness on this. Trump is a Johnny-come-lately at this game. He’s really just a poser.

In the last analysis, the thing to remember is this: Trump has not stood for democracy or its institutions at all. The World Economic Forum no longer considers America to be a full democracy, because of him. MAGA hats have become like armbands worn by Nazis, and Trump is the white power symbol successor of Hitler. It’s worth reminding the world that fascism came from socialism. It was the branch of it designed by Mussolini. The alt left and the far right is exactly the same entity.

“The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves,” said Vladimir Lenin a hundred years ago.

Here at Millennial Democrats, we refuse to accept a false equivalency. We equally reject the totalitarian nightmares that arise both from fascism and socialism, and from that posture, we call not only for the resignation of the disgraced dictator Nicholas Maduro.

We call with equal lungpower for the resignation of the disgraced dictator Donald Trump.

Sex Offenses and the Senate Don’t Mix- Say No to Roy Moore.

Alabama’s perverse and disgusting Senate candidate, Roy Moore, is still refusing to step out of the race. He remains unapologetic and has repeatedly lashed back on Twitter at Republican detractors like Mitch McConnell, who he feels has let down conservatives. All the while, the scandals just keep rolling in.

Chomo, by the way, is slang for child molester.

Earlier today, a fifth accuser, Beverly Nelson, stepped forth to tell the story of how she was defiled at the hands of this awful human being. McConnell, for his part, says he believes the women. His presence in the halls of our government is beyond intolerable. Roy Moore’s filth can never be allowed to touch the Senate.

A sex offender can’t get a job in this country driving a bus. How is it he can be a Senator?

Unfortunately, a great many Trump voters do not seem to mind. A definite connection between sex offenders and alt-right conspiracy theorists can be verified.

Take our president, for example. He openly boasted to Billy Bush about grabbing women by their genitals in the ugliest possible way. His supporters didn’t care a lick, and that’s exactly how much Trump cares about what type of man Roy Moore is and whether or not he ought to be in our Senate. His silence on the subject has spoken in volumes and given even more of a green light to his devotees.

Basically, if it’s okay for the President to treat random women like a catcher’s mitt, they seem to reason, it must be okay, period. Too bad we Democrats have been spoiling their good time all these years.

Remember when Senate candidate Todd Akin used the phrase “legitimate rape” during his 2012 campaign?

Milo Yiannoupoulis provides a more recent example. In February, Milo Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart News, the alt-right website he’d been a top editor for, after video surfaced in which Milo states clearly that he is absolutely fine with sexual ongoing between men and underage boys as young as 13.

It was enough to make you sick unless you’re cut from the same cloth. This is what led to billionaire Robert Mercer cutting ties with him recently and pulling his interests out of Breitbart in general.

The Republicans love nothing more than to slander their opponents with crimes they themselves are frequently guilty of. Hence Donald Trump, constantly misapplying the term fake news.

It’s interesting, how the people who have spoken out the most about sexual abuse over the years have so frequently been guilty of it themselves. Sigmund Freud called this tendency projection. It was his psychological theory describing the process by which humans avoid dealing with their own issues by attributing them to others.

Earlier this year, the infamous far-right troll Mike Cernovich spoke at Columbia University in New York City about the rise of alternative media. While he was there, some “protestors” showed up with a rather unexpected sign.

The sign in the picture said “no white supremacy, no pedo bashing, no Mike Cernovich” and displayed logos of “antifa” and NAMBLA, which supposedly stands for the North American Man/Boy Love Association.

There are aspects of the conduct of the “Antifa” organization we do not support, but it has to be granted they have nothing to do with NAMBLA.

Gothamist reporter Jake Offenhartz, who actually took the picture that Cernovich tweeted, mentioned in his original tweet that the sign was an “alt-right” plant. This type of manufactured incident often helps the right wing shift the national dialogue to deflect attention off their own perversions. They would like nothing better than to paint Democrats as the party of wingnuts and sexual deviancy.

Republican sex scandals, however, occur at least as often as do their Democratic counterparts. It’s always a riot when one of these breaks loose. The GOP prides itself on its firm commitment to pro-family and conservative values. Jerry Falwell’s Moral Majority comes to mind. All of it, however, has been used to conceal some very ugly truths, and this is the crux of the matter. Sex offenders, fascists, and other horrible criminals have infested the government, through the Republican Party.

When did it become cool, to become a sex offender? Who can stand a rapist? Or a child molester? How is it that we’re even considering letting these old leches hold the keys of power for us? And what does it say, about the men who are turning a blind eye? It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that there’s a long game here. They want to make it okay for men to do as they like with women again, and for a very specific reason.

In the 1990’s, ethnobotanist Terence McKenna used the term “The Archaic Revival” to describe his vision as to which direction society needs to be heading in, in order to secure a prosperous and healthy future for all humans, instead of just a few. The essence of it was interconnectedness between intelligence. Building bridges, strengthening ties, creating new bonds of cohesion for society.

Perhaps the most fundamental value of the Archaic Revival was its emphasis on valuing feminine energy as being crucial for the forging of those bonds.

All throughout the 90’s, that concept and many others like it emerged, gained potency, and coalesced into a strong movement. We have carried the torch. Millennials have overwhelmingly chosen to embrace the values of diversity that our parents, the baby boomer generation, fought so hard to secure for us before we were born.

We liked going to school with kids of other backgrounds. It made things interesting and fun. We got to know each other. We learned to work together, and that’s what we’ll be doing going into the future. That’s what Millennial Democrats is all about.

These things were largely made possible by the strengthening and unchaining of the power of womankind. Gone are the days when an educated woman was restricted to being either a teacher or a nurse. Reversing that state of affairs is what a great deal of this is about for the alt-right.

Disenfranchising women has been a goal of patriarchal elements of society since before we were writing things down. Believers in a system of hierarchy necessarily need people to lord it over. The well-being of the commonwealth has to fall by the wayside. The few must grow rich off the labor of the many. If everyone’s equal, the pyramid stays flat.

Not long ago, Donald Trump said that things have changed, and now they’re changing back. It must be realized that this is their goal. Televangelism and media combined with a well-polished party line, all designed to bring back the good old days of graft, corruption, and big bosses.

Breaking the back of cooperative, which is to say feminine, societal efforts to bring about a better way of life is therefore of fundamental importance to the new order they’re trying to bring about. This manifests itself in anti-union activities, for one working example.

Hillary Clinton recently discussed the culture of sexual assault, following media coverage of a plethora of new lurid complaints against Hollywood film producer and longtime Democratic donor, Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with the U.K.’s Channel 4 News shortly after the story broke, Clinton said:

“Look, we just elected someone who admitted sexual assault to the presidency. So there’s a lot of other issues that are swirling around these kinds of behaviors that need to be addressed,” Clinton said on the subject of the Weinstein scandal.”.

“I think it’s important that we stay focused, and shine a bright spotlight, and try to get people to understand how damaging this is,” she continued.

Going forward, we’re going to be doing just that. And the very first step is to help make sure that the only federal building Roy Moore steps into is a penitentiary. If you’re in Alabama, vote for Doug Jones. If you’re elsewhere, then send support every way you can. This fight is about us all, and we are going to win it, together.  Just like we did in New Jersey and Virginia. This #BlueWave is just getting started. Let’s use it to wash this crap right out of American life.

Enough is Enough, of the Violence in Berkeley

Antifa protesters, getting stupid.

An army of anarchists in black clothing and masks routed a small group of right-wing demonstrators who had gathered in a Berkeley park Sunday, in protest of the city’s progressive politics, and drove them out with violence. A contingent of police officers 400 strong was overwhelmed. The masked counterprotesters, who are coming to be known as the “Antifa“, for antifascist, outnumbered in massive proportion the people who had come for the rally. They were chanting, “No Trump. No wall. No USA, at all”.

The Trump supporters wore red clothing, so the clashing groups could be clearly identified as distinct in the melee, due to the difference in fashion. Their conduct, however, was pretty well identical.

Thousands of other, nonviolent protesters were at the scene as well, doing what they could to make their voices heard the right way. Most who came to oppose the right-wing rally had no connection to the anarchist mob. They were there to protest Donald Trump and the intolerant indecency he has permeated our nation with- not to make it worse. “We’re just puzzled as to why people consider violence a valid tactic,” said Kristin Leimkuhler, 60, of Berkeley, who left the protests when they turned into a melee.

Jay Pino, 23, said he came to Berkeley from New Mexico to protest the right-wing rally, but peacefully.

“I’m here to try to keep the peace”, he said. “No matter how bad the other side is, we have to pray for them as well.”

The difference between the groups is a matter of motivation. Nazis choose the people they hate based on religion and ethnicity, which are accidents of birth. Antifa directs its violence against people with acquired views or traits, such as the Nazis, and the wealthy, or people in authority. The Nazis want to uphold an outmoded and disgusting status quo, while the anarchists want to realign society to fit their own agenda. Ultimately, however, both are fascists,  because they want others to bend to their will due to fear of physical harm. Whosoever seeks to compel his fellows by violence, is a Nazi. At the end of the day, all that Trump supporters and Antifa have going on, is a pissing contest between monsters.

It’s also true that we have no idea who these people in the black masks are, they who descend like wolves upon their fellow man. We don’t know who is paying them, and we don’t know what their true motivations are. We have no way at all of knowing they’re not all the same pack of lunatics, manufacturing events to use as a cause of war. That trick was used by the actual Nazis to start World War Two, when the German radio station in Gleiwitz was “conquered” by Nazis masquerading as Poles, who even went so far as to leave a few dead bodies behind. The incident was used by Hitler as an excuse to send his troops across the border.

This same sort of extreme conduct in Berkeley has been seen before, many times. In 1969, the People’s Park riots led to Ronald Reagan sending actual tanks up Telegraph Avenue with the National Guard to restore order. That incident empowered Reagan tremendously in the eyes of the middle class, who were mostly horrified at the way they saw people behaving, whatever the cause. We seem to be headed back that way.

We know that the far right has often manipulated the national dialectic by investing in, stirring up, and inciting the far left.

Who could forget all that happened during the 2011 Occupy Wall St. movement? Nothing like a bank lobby filled with homeless people, refusing to leave and literally defecating on police cars, to make the general public miss the nightstick- which, along with all kinds of other military gear, was just reauthorized for use by domestic police. The Occupiers should have carried a banner, emblazoned with the slogan, “Make Police Brutality Great Again“. All they accomplished, was making Democrats and the liberal causes we stand for look terrible. Get off our side, if you can’t at least use a toilet.

We know also that extreme elements of the left are every bit as linked in with Russia as Donald Trump and his guys. Green Party leader Jill Stein was present at that famous meeting with Putin and Paul Manafort in Russia last year. Stein is being investigated by the Mueller probe as well.

It’s natural to ask the question- To whose benefit? Who benefits, from taking groups of decent and determined Americans, and transforming them into groups of raving radicals, ripping apart the very fabric of our country? Who has a direct and comprehensible reason, to want to disrupt the American people’s ability to live in harmony with one another? Who would gain the most, if we decide we really want another Civil War? The most direct answer, of course, is Vladimir Putin. That alone is reason enough to start calming down.

This kind of inflammatory violence has been the hallmark of the nation under Trump. Since he took office, we have seen radicals on both ends of the spectrum go absolutely bonkers, time and time again. This has got to stop. The time has come to make a general call for peace. No matter how outraged we may be by the awful events of this last year, to roll around in the muck of street brawls and disorder is not what Democrats do. We will beat Trump back the right way. The pandemonium we saw in Berkeley on Saturday is not something we want our names on. At Charlottesville, Heather Heyer died, to give us the moral high ground. Let’s not throw that away.
