#ProtectMueller! New AG Barr Confirmation Raises Specter of Saturday Night Massacre.

#ProtectMueller! New AG Barr Confirmation Raises Specter of Saturday Night Massacre

Here on the eve of the confirmation of the new Attorney General pick, William Barr, questions abound about the Russiagate investigation and the eventual fate of the special counsel Robert Mueller chosen to administrate it. Barr has been critical of Mueller’s investigation but has stated that he will not interfere. We’ll see. To put it mildly, serious reasons exist to doubt the sincerity of America’s abortive failure of a forty-fifth president when he says he will not fire Mueller, the man who has compiled the case that will likely destroy him. Barr seems like a rubber stamp brought in to do just that, the hatchetman of Russian assets. We hope he proves us wrong.

If Trump does fire Mueller, it will be highly reminiscent of another corrupt president who fired a special prosecutor, president Richard Milhous Nixon. Nixon’s firing of Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox began the end of his presidency, and so conventional wisdom has held that Trump will not go there. Congressional Republicans have also said that the firing of the special counsel Mueller would be a crossing of the line for them, although it’s true we have no reason to believe them either. They have caved to Trump on everything and often in the most shameful imaginable ways. Devin Nunes, former chairman of the House Intelligence Oversight Committee, was recently found to be deliberately covering up House findings in order to protect Trump.

When considered as part of the whole incident, it seems clear this could be destined to bring us into uncharted territory completely if Trump does go the Nixon route. It wouldn’t save him, and it would damn him further in the opinion of many, but he wouldn’t resign as Nixon did. His conduct during the lengthening and unnecessary #TrumpShutdown proves him once again to be utterly without scruples. It is certain he will use the country as hostages again in the process of getting the Russiagate spotlight off of him. Thus, we have no choice but to conclude that the conventional wisdom- which also did not predict the shutdown, or the fool’s errand that was the travel ban, or the Helsinki debacle, or any number of other horrible things- is probably wrong again.

Of course Trump would fire Mueller. ‘Don’t expect Trump to go quietly’, read a Washington Post article published on January 14th. He’s got the whole country held hostage at this moment, he unrepentantly lies about anything that happens to cross his mind, and he thinks he’s “winning”, whatever that even means in the context of a ruined economy and a devastated government. I guess it means getting Employee of the Month from Vladimir Putin. Firing Mueller would fit right in as the stupidest and worst for America thing he could possibly do. It’s a glaring absence in his resume as it is.

Slava.

In related news, Trump, who was in the news over the weekend for having sworn his interpreters in his three closed-door meetings with Putin to secrecy, has taken an increasingly aggressive and door-closed stance toward Mueller’s requests for an in-person interview. Gone are the days when he boasts of having done nothing and means his crimes. The Trump of yesterday always said of Mueller that “No one wants to speak more than me“. That line is yesterday’s news, although references to the “Fake News Media” that has plagued him like the Furies remain plentiful. As usual, Trump blames himself for nothing, and provides an object- and abject- example to American children of what a spoiled brat at its worst can do.

News that the special counsel has already drafted a report- a report that draws the most damning possible conclusions- joined the confiscation of notes taken during his closed-door meetings with Putin as the two top stories in the news this weekend. Trump‘s behavior toward the Russian president was the focus of Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein on Sunday, when he appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources. While there, Bernstein- whose investigative journalism helped to take down Nixon- said the special counsel investigating Trump will find he “helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the [2016] election.” Any Facebook activist can tell you this. We’ve seen it develop from the day they prepared the Wikileaks dumps.

He is joined in this dramatically terrible conclusion by many of the counterintelligence specialists in the country, including FBI investigators assigned to the case directly. The Bureau has now let the public know that they’ve been monitoring his conduct viz. Vladimir Putin all along. God bless the good old American Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has now come through for this country through two attempted fascist takeovers.

We would also like to give a farewell salute to the former and departing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who did not have to pick someone who would look into this as hard as Mueller would, and acted with integrity throughout in spite of Republican reviles. His decency and professionalism will be missed.

In the last analysis, from the standpoint of this illegitimate infantile president, sitting back and letting this atomic report fall on him would most likely be better than trying to resist the inevitable by trying to bring this to an end. Cracks in Trump’s base are said to be forming at last, and as these people realize what they’ve been buying into, more and more of them will be looking for a new home, and a sane alternative. Our capacity to find this for them will prove to be a critical part of success for us as we move forward. Russia has been the chiefest enemy of America for nearly a hundred years now, and most Americans still know that. Reminding them is the way to go moving forward.

Does Trump Work For Putin Directly? The FBI Has Been Asking Since May of 2017.

Does Trump work for Putin directly? The FBI's been looking into it- and so have we.

One of the biggest bombshells yet in the Russiagate case was dropped on America this evening. As the #TrumpShutdown entered its third week and the first missing paycheck came up for millions of Americans, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced that it has been pursuing an investigation into whether Donald Trump was working for Vladimir Putin directly, either knowingly or unwittingly.

The New York Times reported late Friday that federal investigators are said to have become so alarmed by Trump’s conduct after he fired former FBI director James Comey that they at once opened a probe into whether the orange infant in the White House has been secretly working with Russia, all along, for Putin himself.

According to sources considered reliable by that venerable newspaper, counterintelligence officials were assigned to the case.

Let’s talk about that word for a minute, counterintelligence. Google Dictionary gives an excellent working definition. It refers to activities designed to prevent or thwart spying, intelligence gathering, and sabotage by an enemy or other foreign entity. Therefore, counterintelligence agents are only assigned to cases serious enough to be considered a risk to national security.

In other words, this is earth-shaking beyond all belief for Donald Trump.

Russia is and has for much of our history been the chief global rival of America. For our president to be in the actual employ of their president is clearly a worst-case scenario. We’ve been saying this for years, of course.

Now the big boys are saying it too.

For a counterintelligence committee to be examining not only whether Trump’s actions were undermining national security, but also whether he was working at the behest of the Kremlin, is clearly of the most phenomenal importance.

On Rachel Maddow‘s Friday night television show, AM Joy Reid of MSNBC was standing in, and hosted Former Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Frank Figliuzzi for an interview. He said that the FBI would only even consider a decision of this magnitude without having evidence of the most utterly compelling nature, something on the level of taped conversations and the like.

Trump has been screaming for years that the whole Russian collusion story is nothing but fake news, and his sheer vehemence gave him some early successes in getting people to stop using the word.

Collusion is back on the table to stay, after this.

In related news, it came out this week that Paul Manafort broke the terms of his plea agreement in regards to his actively sharing and exchanging data from the Trump campaign with his Russian handlers. Turns out that $19 million dollars Manafort owed to Oleg Deripaska, Putin’s buddy the aluminum oligarch, came back to haunt him after all.

Just last week Time tracked down the man Deripaska used to get Manafort to pay up. “He owed us a lot of money,” Victor Boyarkin told Time. “And he was offering ways to pay it back … I came down on him hard.”

As much as Manafort is a detestable character, what does it say about America, that Russians can come over here and push our people around like this with impugnity? This has to be stopped at once. It is our opinion that the Russian Mafia, the feared ROC, should be pored over and removed from its influence from every scrap of our fair nation. Not even the garbage should be left over for them- aluminum cans are worth billions! Just ask Oleg Deripaska.

Manafort had a good friend from his glory days fixing Ukrainian elections for Putin, Konstantin Kilimnik, pictured here in this photograph, not far from Tad Devine of the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Top consultant to the Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign Tad Devine, hanging out with Paul Manafort and Konstatin Kilimnik.

Kilimnik, a shadowy and truant figure long believed to hold many pieces of this puzzle, is known by the nickname of Manafort’s Manafort. He is connected to Russian intelligence services like the GRU, which also hosted Fancy Bear and Guccifer 2.0, the hackers who got Julian Assange the hacked DNC emails that he dumped on us through Wikileaks.

The Wikileaks succeeded beyond their wildest imaginations.

Nevertheless, the Bernie Bots and Bros rioted in the streets of Philadelphia over minor written exchanges proving that Debbie Wassermann-Schultz and Bernie did not like each other. It was the biggest single coup of the Trump campaign’s whole summer, and also the night that Russiagate became something tangible.

The Russians were said to be overjoyed. The emails themselves were played up so much by Trump and his base that by the time they were released, it did not matter what was in them, and it turned out to be nothing to an extent that was simply huge.

The information pipeline that got all this done featured Manafort, his campaign deputy Rick Gates, and Kilimnik funneling many files full of Trump campaign information to bring back to Deripaska, and received many back in return. It was reciprocal and totally coordinated. Manafort knew what he was doing to America every last step of the way.

Deripaska’s not that much of a political guy, but he does have one big interest in giving Trump a hand. He is extremely close to Putin and relies on him to keep his personal fortune. All of Russia works and eats at Putin’s order; he has more control than Stalin did over there.

Even Fox News hosts have been admitting that what Manafort did with the Russians constitutes collusion. There is no doubt about it, and this is, in its own way, even more damning for Trump than the Mueller investigation.

In the last analysis, Manafort was not chosen because of his consummate skill or charming personal characteristics. He was chosen because he was convenient, due to the money he owed for those Cayman Island hotels he burned up Deripaska’s friendship for. Many email exchanges between the two indicate Manafort’s frequent and pleading queries as to whether or not the two of them were “good”. He had that Boyarkin ogre ready to pick his bones, he was scared, and he’d been their guy so long by then that he felt there was no turning back.

So he made a devil’s bargain to sell out his country, in order to save his behind. That is the most rotten and cowardly choice that anyone can ever make. Manafort’s name will be reviled throughout all of human history, and as with the Benedict Arnolds and Vidkun Quislings of history, his name will be held up as an example of greed and cowardice to serve mankind’s final generations with a lesson that resounds with eternal importance.

Going forward, we must reexamine the entire concept of treason. We should view the Cold War as a conflict which never ended, but rather shifted forms and chosen new battlefields in the virtual realms of politics. In that scenario, Trump would be a traitor by every metric, and this is the most truthful narrative.

Trump Lies On Border as #TrumpShutdown Weakens America For Third Week.

#TrumpShutdown begins its third week, and America is hurting.

On the cusp of the twentieth day of what has now become immortalized as the #TrumpShutdown, Trump himself headed to the border to disgracefully lie to America and did so. Other than that, there is not a whole lot going on. How could there be? Everything is closed down, and as one walks around as an observer, there is a very real sense of being in the eye of the tornado.

Even West Virginian senator Lindsey Graham, a guy who has become progressively worthless as the Trump circus atmosphere corrupts him, came up with a plan to try and end the shutdown. Trump shot holes in it. He told Senate Republicans that he believes he is winning the fight”, leaving Graham shaking his head in despair, saying he has “Never been more depressed“.

On that point, at least, we are agreed.

On Friday millions of people will not get paychecks; things like food stamp benefits are only guaranteed through February. One man was on CNN the other night sobbing because he was so afraid he’s going to lose his house. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked the illegitimate president frankly why he doesn’t stop hurting people. His answer was right out of the spoiled child brat Trump playbook.

Because then you won’t give me what I want.

There’s no need really to point out how disgusted a sane human is bound to be at the sound of that, it speaks for itself loud and clear. Trump is calling it a humanitarian crisis, which it is. But the only one causing it is he himself, and he will not stop. That is something in between blackmail and terrorism.

Moving on the subject of terrorism, the Pentagon- who, earlier in the week, was actually reduced to having to go to Fox News and beg for their help in getting the moron in the Oval Office to listen to them regarding Afghanistan- has warned that it is concerned about the risk of a terrorist attack striking home in these conditions.

However, our guess is that they’re not going to feel like they need to do much at all. The worst thing they could do to hurt America right now is to simply leave us alone.

Another 9/11 would unify us. The way things are going we may collapse under our own weight, which is not completely a jab at Trump’s obesity. The most effective punch is the one you don’t have to throw, at the end of the day, but to an extent, this is wishful, hopeful thinking. We are exposed, of course. We have not been opened up like this to an attack since 9/11 happened.

It’s unreal how quickly we forget. Not even twenty years ago, terrorists smuggled boxcutters through airport security and took down the Twin Towers. Osama bin Laden believed that would be the end. Not all at once, of course, not that day. His belief was that once we had been hit that hard, we would not be able to take it. Our policies and justice would become undemocratic, and the idea of America freedom we espoused and intended to bring to the rest of the planet would be soiled irrevocably, a discarded relic like Soviet socialism.

I think a lot of people are waking up to what a bad situation we are in. And when you end up in a bad enough situation, one that makes you scared enough to forget about your pride or wants or ideas, you start to look around at how you got there.
Putin’s developing hypersonic nuclear missiles now. He could wipe us right out with them and there’s nothing we can do. We don’t have them. China and Russia both are winning that arms race viz. the US. From what we can tell, the only reason he doesn’t up and do it is for the same reason as the terrorists- because the worst thing he can do to us is to sit back and eat popcorn and watch as we self-destruct.
At the end of the day, a day in which no one went to work and time to reflect has been forced upon us, one question keeps ringing in American minds- How did it come to this?
Why is that big orange disgrace stumbling around on our border, looking dumb and talking dumber? How did he get the power?
There are three simple words that say it all.
#BernieOrBust! We pray with all our hearts they have managed to learn from their mistakes, and we think there’s a good chance of it. They might have been watching the news.

From the eye of a tornado, you can see the sky, but you can’t see what’s going on around you. There’s no way of knowing how severe the devastation is, and the reality of the situation is that there’s not much use in worrying about it. You batten down the hatches, you keep yourself in the cellar, and you hope and pray for the best with all your heart.

Along with the neverending task of raising awareness, that is what we must do now.

Bernie’s Foundation Crumbling- Campaign Alumni Address “Sexual Violence” In 2016.

Bernie Sanders is all bernt up!

Former staffers and alumni of the 2016 Bernie Sanders campaign wrote a lengthy letter to Bernie’s office, wanting to set up a meeting with Bernie’s office to address the climate of “sexual violence” that took place during the 2016 primary season. They labeled the situation as it developed “untenable”, and “dangerous”. They made specific reference to a pervasive culture of toxic masculinity

More than two dozen women and men who worked on that campaign participated in the letter’s crafting.

“In recent weeks there has been an ongoing conversation on social media, in texts, and in person, about the untenable and dangerous dynamic that developed during our campaign,” they wrote.

It’s about time.

This letter is not only a huge nail in undead Bernie’s coffin. It is also solid proof of something we’ve been waiting a long time for; namely, that the 9 of 10 Sanders supporters who went on to vote for Hillary Clinton in November of 2016 have inside them the moral capacity needed to assert themselves and make their voices heard on this incredibly important matter.

We’ve been hoping for years for this because it had been getting really hard to keep respecting those who kept on supporting Sanders through it all.

For three years now, we who occupy the sane center of America’s political spectrum have been forced to watch as a new type of critter, the Bernie Bro, crawled up out of the primordial filth to start spewing all over the country’s national dialectic. You couldn’t get through ten posts on your Facebook timeline without seeing some line of anti-Clinton conspiracy hatred slathered somewhere around a #BernieOrBust hashtag.

Nor has this tendency generally improved; this is clearly evidenced by the recent torrent of Bro slander unleashed against Beto O’Rourke.

It has been so disgusting that I know many people who will not now even say they’re on the left at all. They’ll say only that they are moderates. That is because their revulsion to the psychosis that led Bernie supporters to riot in the streets of Philadelphia during Hillary’s acceptance of the 2016 Democratic Party presidential nomination is so total.

I hope that one day they will heal enough to allow themselves to be brought back around. We need them.

This is the end for Bernie Sanders. His revolution is over, and his foundations are crumbling. Revolution Messaging, his feared social media machine, works for Beto now. Tad Devine is burned up; he was the first witness called at Paul Manafort‘s trial. Bernie’s campaign manager and Trump’s campaign manager were linked inextricably both by fate and Robert Mueller. Chief strategist Jeff Weaver was one of the ones who signed the letter.

It’s over. Time to move on.

This taking of accountability by the mentally stable members of the Sanders campaign will be a big start in restoring strength and unity to the sane center, where the middle class in all nations live.

All of us have known many Bernie supporters who were great people, progressive in the true sense of the word, people who were willing to overlook his lousy resume because they felt the issues he was championing to be so important. In all fairness and sincerity, they were! Income inequality in America really is gigantic. The middle class really is disappearing, we really do need public healthcare, and Norway really does have an excellent system of government- a capitalist one, like every other civilized country in the world.

All of that was valid, and those people who fought for it and still voted for Clinton are honorable, good Americans, just like us. But they have been shouted down by the same people who’ve been trying to shout us down, that noisy, visible, and unruly pack of creatures known as the Bernie Bros.

Those Bros are the ones who revealed the side of Bernie he didn’t want you to see.

The one who said women would prefer to stay home.

The one who said that Planned Parenthood is the establishment.

The one who voted to get lighter prison sentences for rapists.

The one who penned rape fantasy essays in the ’70s.

The list goes on ad nauseum, but one thread remains the same. This is a man who never, ever, in his whole twenty-eight years in the Congress, did a thing to champion black issues, women’s issues, LGBT issues, or really any issues except ones directly concerning white men like him. He also renamed two post offices.

Remember those last set of 2016 Democratic primary debates? Both presidential contenders were fiery, and passionate, which was only to be expected in what had, until that point, been a highly issues- focused and progressively driven primary. But once Bernie started losing, he got out and out rude. Rather than taking the opportunity to renounce the extremities of misogyny committed by his supporters, his performance gave weight to the concern Paul Krugman expressed back then: “Bernie is becoming a Bernie Bro.”

During the debate, Sanders interrupted Clinton again and again, at one point even throwing out a long “excuuuuse me” while wagging his finger. When not interrupting, he sat there smirking and making faces while Clinton spoke. At one point, he was seen muttering a sarcastic “OK.”

Imagine how this would play out in a general election! Imagine how Trump would beat us over the head with this!

We have just finished seeing the end of the Year of the Democratic Woman. Nearly a hundred women across America just won midterm elections. And women have for years now been dragged savagely through the mud by the maniacal supporters of Bernie. If the choice was Trump vs Bernie, how better than to thoroughly demoralize them? What a win-win for Vladimir Putin.

During the election, one of our contributors was told that they hoped she was gang-raped, due to her refusal to support their chosen master. And on the subject of rape, look at what Bernie himself wrote on the subject! Just don’t look right after lunch. They might as well have invited Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby.

Quoth St. Bernard,

“A man goes home and masturbates, to his usual fantasy- A woman tied up, a woman on her knees, a woman abused. A woman enjoys intercourse with her man- as she fantasizes being raped by three men simultaneously.”

“Have you ever looked at the StagManHeroTough magazines on the shelf of your local bookstore? Do you know why the newspaper with the articles like ‘Girl of 12 raped by 14 men’ sell so well? To what in us are they appealing?”

It’s clear Bernie knows to what they are appealing, at any rate, and why not? He always has the answers, to everything!

Watch for the moniker ‘Rape Fantasy Bernie’ to join the ranks of Lyin’ Ted and Little Marco. This is all to say nothing of the other baggage he comes with; the list is so long it’s taken over a dozen articles for this organization even to begin touching it. Here’s a timeline compilation on Bernie’s bull from Medium; if you’ve got three days to spend reading, knock yourself out.

It would be the biggest disaster in the history of the Democratic Party, Nixon vs. McGovern all over again.

We have always known and believed that most of his supporters are not the kind of people to permanently turn a blind eye to all this, and it’s a big relief to see them start asserting their awareness. They should know that they have compromised themselves severely over the years by remaining silent while all this went on for basic political reasons, e.g. they didn’t want to hurt Bernie. They should be commended for finally realizing that in this issue, Bernie has hurt himself and that the topic has needed addressing.

They should be deeply commended for putting this plan into action, and actually writing that letter. Sexual violence. That’s heavy.

Last year, Millennial Democrats addressed it ourselves, when anti-Semitic organizer Linda Sarsour invited Sanders to be the keynote speaker at the Women’s March. There was an outcry over that so huge that Bernie backed out as fast as his legs would carry him so that people would stop talking about this.

The choice of Bernie Sanders was an insult to every woman everywhere.

This year, Chicago won’t have the Women’s March, because they found out what Sarsour really is. Until she is gone, there is no Women’s March. A California Women’s March has been canceled as well, this time because of racial issues that have never been addressed by these rabid supporters of Bernie Sanders.

Just as we wrote last year, we need to Occupy the Women’s March, but that’s another story.

Perhaps after he fails to change, and they come to understand he’s been this way for sixty years and isn’t changing, they’ll make the next logical step, and come back over to our side, where nothing but welcome awaits them.

The next words are for all sane supporters of Bernie Sanders- Come back to us. We will embrace you.

By all means, go ahead with your plan to convert and reform Bernie, and the climate of “sexual violence” that takes place around him. If you succeed, it’s the best thing for America and the human race. Every person who becomes a champion for the rights of women, and everyone else, has done something to promote a better world. This would also mean we get to look forward to hearing him take full public accountability for six decades worth of chauvinism.

He’d better get started.

Our predictions for your success, however, are sadly not very bright. We Democrats have been trying to reason with Bernie for many years, but the kind of guy who said JFK made him nauseous is not likely to align precisely with traditional liberal and progressive goals. If and when he fails to achieve in this, the modest task that is his charge, give us a call.

This is being written on New Year’s Day. 2019 is here, and the halfway point of the Trump presidency will be crossed in just under three weeks. The end is in sight. We need to win next year and rid the country of Donald Trump.

Let us now come together once and for all to pick a leader who can guide us through the storm. And let us realize, once and for all, that Bernie Sanders is not it.

The Sarah Palin Of The Left- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is No One’s Face But Her Own.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is No One's Face But Her Own.

It is not without a sense of disappointment that we recognize the newly famous Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic Socialist and ideological successor of Bernie Sanders, has decided to be a liability. We’ve written highly of her in the past. She had some good points to make, but in the process of trying to make them, she has gotten in her own way badly, and in everyone else’s way, too. She has endeavored to make herself a nuisance in every way she can, and the Republicans, of course, are completely overjoyed.

At last, they’ve got someone tangible to point at and yell “See? See? We told you they all were socialists! We told you they all were crazy! That right there is the face of the Democratic Party!”

Let us be blunt and unequivocal- Ocasio-Cortez is far from the face of our party. Very far. We’re not socialists at all. We’re the ones on the front lines of the battle against socialism. The Republicans are the ones who incite and encourage the socialists, in order to disrupt and uncoordinate Democrats. That’s why Donald Trump sided with Bernie Sanders in 2016.

Our thoughts were that she should be given a chance, even though most things about her were far-left and radical. Ocasio came into all our lives by primarying out one of the best guys we had in Joe Crowley, which of course is horrible, and she’s a Democratic Socialist, which is to say, an extremely confused socialist. But even so, we gave her a chance. We congratulated her on her victory, we wrote an article giving her the proper respect she has earned. She ran a heck of a campaign, by every metric, and she is, after all, a Millennial Democrat. We did our best to keep an open mind.

Who knows, we said. Maybe she won’t turn out to be so bad. She does seem smart enough. Maybe she is. Let’s reserve judgment for the time being.

Then she opened her mouth.

Conservative news and opinion site The Daily Caller ran a contest over it. “Vote On The Dumbest Thing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Has Said So Far.”

Now, this hurt us, because all of us are Democrats, and we all want the same kinds of things. We need our allies and our bright minds. Although her wing of the left and ours are often rivals, we are not enemies, and it brings no joy to report on her failings. But we all need to show discipline, represent ourselves to advantage, and realize that whatever we say will reflect on the Democratic Party as a whole.

Ocasio-Cortez is not getting that. And that Daily Caller article ate it up.

They showed her doing an interview with MSNBC’s fantastic Joy Reid, who has had her own problems with the far left. It yielded some remarks that can only be described as gems.

“Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs. Unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their family.”

Politifact ruled in on this one right away. “Americans aren’t working more today than they have been in the recent past. The average number of hours worked in the private sector has hugged tightly to about 34.5 hours a week since 2006, except for a dip during the Great Recession.”

In the very same Joy Reid interview, she blasted this out too, when she said she was in favor of an assault-weapons ban.

“I think that many members of our military need to go through years of training in order to have access to these weapons, and the idea that a 17-year-old can walk into a shop and get one, I think, is unacceptable.”

Seventeen? Federal law prohibits anybody under the age of 18 from legally buying guns, automatic or otherwise.

Around the same time, she appeared on the reboot of Firing Line. Conservative host Margaret Hoover asked her to explain her stance on Israel. The question left Ocasio-Cortez completely baffled. She began to talk about things that don’t exist, like the Israeli “Occupation of Palestine.”

Hoover pounced. “Would you like to expand on that?” she said with utter glee.

“I’m no expert on geopolitics,” said Ocasio-Cortez. Well, if that is the case, then what in God’s holy name are you doing in the government of a global superpower? This kind of thing is really a disgrace. If you don’t have the tools for the job, don’t apply for it.

“We’re gonna flip this seat red in November,”, she said in July during a rally.

Jesus God.

Good thing for her it was the Year of the Democratic Woman.

The first time I heard someone use the term “Sarah Palin of the left”, it was in passing. Sarah Palin, of course, was the infamous 2008 running mate of Republican John McCain, then-governor of Alaska who liked to talk and quickly became a superstar- until she put her foot in her mouth, and kept it there.

I was walking down the hallway of the local library, and I heard a group of people laughing and pointing at a picture. “She’s the Sarah Palin of the left,” said one woman. “That’s the face of the Democratic Party now, guys!” yelled another man present, joyfully.

The face on the screen, of course, was that of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The headline was from RealClear Politics, and it pleaded our case eloquently.

Lieberman: If Ocasio-Cortez Is “The New Face of The Democratic Party,” Party Doesn’t Have “Bright Future”

No doubt. We might not have a future at all, if that’s the face of the party. What a mess, I thought. What a total and complete disaster.

A while back, we did an article about a guy named Don Blankenship, a major felon whose greed and sloven got twenty-nine people killed in a tragic mining accident. He was running for Joe Manchin’s Senate seat in West Virginia, so we were all for him. “Too Far Right”, it was called. “Why It’s Best When the GOP Nominates Their Worst.”

Obviously, it’s good for us when the true face of the Republican Party is revealed by people who are just like that. Corrupt, arrogant, and sloppy.

Just like it’s good for them when our candidates are uneducated, radical, and prone to making constant ridiculous blunders.

In America, you can’t be the President if you’re not at least thirty-five, and this is because all three of those traits, so deadly for a good politician, accompany youth all but exclusively. So it only stands to reason that people are given a certain amount of time to reach maturity and correct those youthful errors. Unfortunately, there is no such law protecting the House of Representatives. So here we are.

For the last several decades, Republican politicians have moved steadily further right, and never has this been so true as now. Candidates of heightening extremity dominate the GOP playing field. They are nominating the wrong candidates all over the country, such as ex-convict Blankenship in West Virginia.

After the election of our 45th President, the strategy of many Republican politicians has depended a great deal on how deeply they can demonstrate their adherence to his destructive policies. The growing trend of Republican extremity has become troubling in the extreme. This has backfired on them badly. The Blue Wave all but knocked them out of the ballpark, which is how Ocasio managed to win her election. If she were in middle America, she’d have been driven across the state line.

This has tempted some on the left to respond with extremity in kind, and that is very dangerous. With every step we take away from the center, the closer we come to getting ripped loose at the moorings as a country. We’ve already had one Civil War. We have to find a way to come back to reason before it is too late.

The likes of Bernie Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez are, to put it mildly, not helping.

Even if you put aside their socialism and their adherence to radical policies that make no sense like Medicare for All, neither Sanders nor Ocasio-Cortez are good candidates, because they do not have the resume. They don’t have records of getting things done, although at least in Ocasio’s case it’s because she has had no career. As recently as last year, she was still working as a bartender, but she’s sure got a lot to say about- well, just about everything..

While there is certainly a lot to admire about a person who can make a good cocktail, when it comes time to pick who’s in the Congress, I’ll take the geopolitical expert every time. All things considered, it becomes all too clear that socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a big mistake on the part of New York’s 14th District. We can help the people who live there by raising awareness on all this so that they will correct it.

Scared Of A Beating- Why The Bern Isn’t Feeling Beto.

We'll take Beto over Bernie any day!

The followers of Bernie Sanders have declared an increasing and unproductive war on Beto O’Rourke, up and coming Democrat who has many of the same values- and strategies- that they do. This is coming at a time when both men are deciding whether they will run for the United States presidency. It’s unfortunate that they’re going this route, but it isn’t that surprising.

We have seen in the past how ugly Bernie can get when he is scared of a beating. He’s afraid of Beto, and he should be. O’Rourke is young, progressive, and levelheaded.  He also has Bernie’s feared Revolution Messaging working for him. He has the support of both wings of the party and has been careful to maintain relations with both-not that it’s doing him much good with them at the moment.

During the 2016 presidential election, O’Rourke endorsed Clinton, but he waited until the race was close enough to over so as not to weigh in for one side heavily over the other. He also praised Sanders. “We are fortunate to have had such a vigorously contested nomination. Secretary Clinton will be a better general election candidate and president because of the principled, passionate campaign run by Bernie Sanders,” he told the El Paso Times. “I am deeply grateful that he made campaign finance, military intervention and growing income inequality central to the Democratic nomination debate.”

That was generous, in our view. That’s the kind of guy Beto is.

If Sanders and his followers do end up tearing into him in earnest, it would not be the first time they have done tremendous damage to the causes they espouse, not to mention to America. They voted for Trump just to spite Hillary Clinton and her supporters, and now look where we are. Trump is doing all he can to rip America up at the roots at Putin’s behest.

In terms of a military payoff, look what Putin got this week alone. Trump yanked us out of Syria so unexpectedly that even the guy who talked him into it, the Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan, is said to have been shocked. He almost turned around and asked Trump to stay. Vladimir Putin was undoubtedly thrilled, though. Then Trump decided to start making noise about Afghanistan. Then he removed General James Mattis from his post as Secretary of Defense two months early. And finally, he shut down the government over a wall that no one except a bunch of insane people among the alt-right really wants or thinks they’re getting.

Every bit of this was predictable to anyone with common sense. One did not need a political science major to know that if Trump won, we would all be living in a world of total chaos. But to the members of #BernieOrBust, all of this was a small price to pay for hamstringing Hillary Clinton. Their rabid hatred of her is how they got involved with the Russians. When Robert Mueller, the Special Counsel appointed to investigate Trump’s involvement with the Russian interference of our 2016 election, brought his case against Paul Manafort this fall to trial, Bernie’s manager Tad Devine was the first witness called.

Earlier this year, when Mueller indicted 13 Russian individuals and three Russian entities for helping the Kremlin interfere in the last presidential election, a February 2016 memo was circulated to Internet Research Agency staff showing instructions given to post political content on US social media sites and “use any opportunity to criticize Hillary and the rest (except Sanders and Trump — we support them).”
No wonder Bernie’s people don’t want him to touch “the Russia thing”, not that that stops them from accusing anyone who disagrees with Bernie as being under Russian influence themselves.

Earlier today, in fact, our Facebook webmaster informed me that three Bernie trolls had been removed from our page, as they were going on there spouting about how Millennial Democrats has been hacked and are all Russians. Wrong! Think again. Actually, all that type of baseless accusation does is to cloud the issue even further. More help for Putin.

It’s important to point out that not all Bernie supporters are Bots or Bernie Bros. 9 out of 10 Bernie supporters did go on to vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election. But among the ones who did not, there is a subset of them who are known for being racist, sexist, and mean.

Their shabby treatment of Joy Reid in particular stands out. This picture, a shameful disgrace to America, says it all.

Image result for Racist Bernie Bros and Joy Reid

Don’t take it to heart, Beto. Nothing you do will ever be good enough for them. Moderation is a virtue. There’s no doubt you fully realize that fending off slanderous attacks from the right and far left alike are part of the job of being a Democrat. Their reviles and hatred are a sure sign that you are doing an excellent job, and should be interpreted as a sign of success. You came out of the blue all but completely and nearly beat one of the most well-recognized and entrenched Republicans in the nation, Tea Party Ted Cruz, and turned Texas purple in the process. You’re a winner.  If you run, no one will touch Bernie. That’s why his supporters are after you.

Bernie Sanders has two renamed post offices to show for his nearly three decades in the Congress. His accomplishments really are that limited. Nor is he alone among his set in being a progressive with no record of making progress. Radical left darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example, has yet even to begin her own career, and is currently spending all her days disrupting her own people. Why not go protest the Republicans about climate change? Who knows, but it’s certainly convenient for them that she doesn’t, and that she rather chooses to spend her time harassing Nancy Pelosi who is genuinely great. We have spoken highly of her in the past and done our best to be fair and give her a chance, but those hopes become more distant by the day- and by the tweet.

Going forward, we’re going to reaffirm something that we were partially founded to address. All millennials are not for Bernie! We’re just not. We’re not, and we never will be. We are a very large generation, and most of us are sane. But Bernie supporters have a way of being extremely loud and visible, and it creates a false impression and a narrative the mainstream media that we are here to dispel.

In the beginning and at the end of the day, Millennial Democrats are Democrats. We love our country, we love our party, and we love the world order that our grandparents fought and died to build for us. When it comes time to say where we stand with the socialists, who say it is broken and should be entirely discarded, we must draw a line in the sand completely.

In 2016, that line became a trench.

There has been healing since then, and lines of communication have been gradually opened. The left is no longer as divided, and the demonic frenzy that possessed the Bernie people who rioted in the streets of Philadelphia back in July of 2016 seems to have dissipated somewhat. That’s good because we fervently hope the radicals do not put us to the test again. Our voices are united and strong, and we are ready for anything, come what may. We have come to believe in ourselves, and in each other. If the Bernie Bros come for Beto O’Rourke or any other Democrat, they will find readiness in waiting for them.

The War on Cannabis: Who Loses, Who Benefits?

The War On Cannabis: Who Loses, Who Benefits?

From the day of its inception, the War on Cannabis has been a disaster for America. It has played a fundamental role in the architecture for the larger War on Drugs. Considered as a whole, this war can fairly be described as a generationally evolving series of wasteful and ineffective policies. In attempting to regulate the legislative needs and desires of mankind, the United States government has caused great harm to be done, in terms both of the law and of medical recourse to help for pain. It is a classic case of the old cliché, a treatment worse than its “disease”. Crimes have been committed in the name of fighting crime. Resources have been massively wasted. The futures of millions have been ruined in the eyes of the law. The question of why remains sobering in its implications. Anti-cannabis legislation was ostensibly created to safeguard the public and keep cannabis from menacing its health, but its effects have done more damage than the act their purpose was to prevent.

The question of whether the herb’s use constitutes a peril to public safety is a real concern. It is only logical for people to pay attention to alerts regarding something that might affect their health. As alerts on the matter have been so often raised, it is only natural for people to have health concerns about drugs, including cannabis. In a Health, Risk, and Safety article titled Cannabis, risk, and normalization: Evidence from a Canadian study of socially integrated, adult cannabis users, we are told that evidence pointing to the harmfulness of cannabis use has never been more abundant (213). Public concern is still highly prevalent, and many experts remain unconvinced that cannabis should be considered safe.

Whether that is true is not the issue here, however. We note only that widespread panic about cannabis was not scientifically based. The issue was never raised by the medical community of the United States. The Medical Science Monitor informs us that cannabis was routinely prescribed by American physicians. It enjoyed legal status in the United States until 1937. This is when U.S. legislature passed the first federal law against cannabis – the Marihuana Tax Act. Empirical approaches to solving the problem of cannabis addiction kept proving it was not a problem. The American Medical Association did not support the new law, and their advice was belittled and ignored. Science was not on the side of the anti-cannabis crusaders. Other rationales were needed and were manufactured where they could not be found.

The approach of the new Threat or Menace campaign was exemplified in Reefer Madness, the famous anti-cannabis public alert movie released in 1936. Self-described cannabis journalist Matthew Green paints a wild yet perfectly accurate picture of its contents in his article “Reefer Madness! The Twisted History of America’s Marijuana Laws.”. The movie exhibits an insane “reefer addict” portrayed in maniacal relief, smoking his way to murder as he enjoys the frenetic tunes of a piano-playing hostage. This law was based on artificially manufactured moral panic, as opposed to sound law or science. It was eventually discarded as being unconstitutional (Leary v. United States, 1969), but not before it set the foundation for the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, which was far more comprehensive than the old law, although it continued to rely on selective or pseudoscience and public disinformation.

The tone of the new policy was set from the start by the prejudices of Anslinger, which was to prove disastrous for the cannabis community. Laura Smith, the managing editor at Timeline, paints an unforgiving picture of Anslinger in her piece “How A Racist Hatemonger Masterminded America’s War on Drugs”. He is shown there to be a xenophobic, culturally intolerant, and deeply racist man, one who used his power arbitrarily and in the worst ways. His power over his bureau, and over the anti-cannabis campaign, was completely unilateral. Historian John C. McWilliams stated in his book aboutAnslinger, The Protectors,“ Anslinger was the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (2).” His ideas about the existing social order laid the foundation for the policies he would set. He had a simple goal, but one that was far-reaching in its implications; a one-man crusade to protect American values as he saw them. His worldview held that change was coming too fast, and the anti-cannabis crusade provided him with a high-powered excuse to slow it down. The next step was to use this bitter project to hamstring progressive causes and people by making crimes out of acts that were not criminal. In this way, Anslinger laid the groundwork in place for an endemic legal injustice.

Racism was inherent in the new legislature. The approach was displayed by the confusion caused by a new word for cannabis, “Marihuana” (The more common spelling now is Marijuana) The Tax Act was named after this incorrect term, used as an associative trick based on racism and phonetics. It worked because the word sounded Mexican. Mexicans were unpopular and mistrusted, so tying public perceptions of the plant to Mexican immigrants was an easy way to scare white America. The FBN also targeted jazz musicians and lied about them without remorse. They created images of insane, weed-stinking black men on an unending quest for mayhem and white women; these also did nothing to set Caucasian minds at ease. Racial fear has always been a historically effective way to goad America’s ethnic majority off the path of common sense and decency. The War on Cannabis stands out as a noteworthy example of this tendency.

Shortly before the MTA was passed, a new governmental organization, the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, was created to deal with the growing problem of drug addiction in America (Deitsch). Its first commissioner Harry J. Anslinger discarded science and medicine with glee. “Doctors,” he said, “cannot treat addicts, even if they want to.” He chose instead to call for “tough judges not afraid to take killer-pushers and throw away the key.” FBN techniques developed to disseminate the new way proved effective, allowing Anslinger’s perspective to set the tone for subsequent anti-cannabis legislation. Anslinger was a skillful administrator, and he had resources. His ideas caught on and manifested physically in the dehumanizing propaganda used by the FBN to scare anti-cannabis legislature past Congress. The aftershocks of FBN anti-cannabis disinformation are ubiquitous even today, living proof of the program’s success. Celebrating openly a pro-cannabis lifestyle is still enough to get you targeted. It’s easy to get busted, it’s hard to get a job. The way society perceives the users of cannabis today still comes largely from stereotypes based on exaggerated caricatures created during this era. These unfair and cartoonish notions have evolved and generalized over the years, becoming institutionalized as more people became invested in them. They have been used to degrade and delegitimize progressive causes and their advocates.

The propaganda employed by the FBN had been successful, so much so that it started a genuine public panic, and people were demanding that something be done. This gave Anslinger both the lawful right, and the means to pound his enemies into the ground. He was not long in finding his first sacrificial lamb. The first victim of the new policy was selected in 1937, just after the new law took effect. A draconian sentence of four years in prison for an ounce of weed was handed down to Samuel L. Caldwell of Boulder, Colorado. A precedent of insane harshness was set that endured in American courtrooms to this very day. It added greatly to the foundation of the original architecture of the greater War on Drugs, as conceived of and created by President Richard Nixon’s administration.

The Nixon era vigorously continued the judicial legacy of brutality applied to the cannabis community. Like Harry Anslinger had forty years prior, the administration targeted cannabis because its occupants knew liberals could be legally hamstrung as a consequence for using it. The concept was strategic, and its straightforward goal was the same as in the past-to keep conservatives in power at any cost. Neither fair play nor the health of democracy was considered, freedom was injured, and the resultant degradation of our system worked to the detriment of all Americans, whether they smoke pot or not. Chief Nixon White House adviser John Ehrlichman came to some of the same conclusions later in life. He spoke out frankly on the subject to Dan Baum of Harper’s Magazine years after the impeachment of Nixon. He laid out flatly their motives for taking aim at cannabis.

“Look, back in ’68, we had two enemies, you get me? The antiwar left, and the blacks. We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be against the war, and we couldn’t make it illegal to be black. But by heavily penalizing the use of marijuana and heroin, we were able to disrupt
those communities. We were able to bust up their meetings, raid their offices, vilify them night after night on the evening news… Did we know we were lying about the drugs themselves? Of course we did.”.

Nixon’s work was built upon famously by the next Republican administration, that of Ronald Reagan. First Lady Nancy Reagan’s iconic “Just Say No” commercial typified the new approach, which was just like the old approach, but newly equipped with a spiffy slogan. In pursuing the anti-cannabis campaign, the Reagan administration was zealous in their willingness to apply suppression through the courts to the cannabis community. A TIME Magazine article from 1988 gives us a look at how it was. “The Reagan Administration calls its new drug policy ‘zero tolerance,’ meaning that planes, vehicles, and vessels may be confiscated for carrying even the tiniest amount of a controlled substance.” It goes on to tell the story of a captain whose boat was seized for a tenth of an ounce of cannabis. Things were so bad during that time for users of the herb that the case can hardly be overstated. Ardor for the arts of slander and libel grew in the government to an extent that left little room for conspiracy theories. Every possible medium was employed to spread Just Say No. Commercials, posters, the sides of buses. School programs like DARE, which stood for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, ensured that no young mind in America could miss the point. The net effects of all the anti-drug campaigning proved to be the same as in the past-untouched and rising rates of use, and black and poor people receiving disproportionately long sentences for small amounts of weed.

Subsequent presidents such as Bill Clinton were left with little choice but to compete with Reagan’s paternalistic style of law and order, and so the status quo remained intact. It was not until the election of Barack Obama that the prerequisite conditions for the monumental decision of 2012 legalizing recreational cannabis in the first two American states, Oregon and Washington, were met at long last. There is no doubt that it was a monumental decision. It represented the reversal of a hundred years worth of American legal policy and a tremendous amount of human struggling. The change, by that point, had been nearly a century in coming. Cannabis laws have been hamstringing the left for that entire time and they still are. Improvements have come, but they are highly incomplete. The threat of things reverting to their former miserable state overshadows all the progress that has been made in this area. Realization of the harm caused in the cannabis prohibition era has been highlighted in the nation’s modern consciousness. More and more people are coming to see how important it is to prevent the reassertion of the destructive and unfair status quo.

The history of the War on Cannabis is representative of a great many other social ills inside American life. The racist, reactionary, right-wing attitudes that created the original campaign are still alive and well in modern American jurisprudence. In the name of punishment and the spirit of human sacrifice, medical science has been stymied and suppressed, people have been ruined and jailed, and our prison system has been afflicted to the point where it has poisoned our political system. It is, simply stated, a historical and ongoing eyesore. Change has come but is far from secure, and a great deal of harm remains unaddressed.

The Real Estate Dream and the Moscow Motivation- Document Shows Plans For Russian Trump Tower.

The Moscow Motivation.

The nation received even more bombshell Russiagate information today, in the form of what you might call the Moscow Motivation. CNN’s Chris Cuomo has a signed letter of intent from Donald Trump to build a tower in Moscow. Long after he told the American people he had stopped his business dealings there, he was, in fact, continuing along with it the whole time. The 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump was formally launched on June 16, 2015, at Trump Tower in New York City. It was only four months later that he signed the document, known as an LOI, with Russia. In this document is every single reason why Donald Trump has sold his country out.

Rudy Giuliani, looking more like a zombie than ever, claimed on Sunday that while the document might exist, it was never signed. “It was a real estate project. There was a letter of intent to go forward, but no one signed it,” Giuliani told Bash.

You were lying, Rudy, you Times Square ruining animal. On the other hand, thank you for revealing to us the extent of mental desperation you people are in, over there at Team Trump. They’re counting on Trump’s base to save them, and those people feed on lies. But it’s not going to work anymore. People are on their way to prison over this. One of them is retired three-star general and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, whose sentencing judge, Emmet G. Sullivan, did not “Bother to hide [his] disgust” at Flynn, who in his view- and ours- “Arguably sold out [his] country.” Trump’s old lawyer Michael Cohen is on his way to the can too. It is not a game.

A copy of the signed letter of intent is provided here. The letter is dated October 28, 2015, and bears the illegitimate president’s signature. It clearly shows the stage being set for negotiations for Trump to build all kinds of stuff on Russia, on Putin’s dollar. I guess he figured Trump and his brand would be very popular in Russia by then, which he was. There were to be condominiums, a hotel and commercial property in the heart of Moscow.
This whole time, we have adhered to Democratic principles and hesitated to label what Trump has done treason, difficult as it has been not to scream it out loud in the streets. But Flynn’s sentencing judge finally did what someone in authority needed to do, and said the word aloud. He asked if the government had considered the charge of treason specifically. They’re still saying no, on Flynn, who has been like their star witness. Apparently, because we are not at war with the nation he sold us out to, he can’t technically be considered a traitor. Neither can Trump, by the same token.
Legal mumbo-jumbo aside, it sure seems like treason to us laymen, is what I will say.
Still, even without the treason charge thrown in, Trump is deluged in tidal waves of his own corruption and collusion. Trump Foundation shut its doors today as well, amid reports of football helmets bought for $12,000– Tim Tebow’s, which he must now sell- and battles over lampposts at the Mar-a-Lago. New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced the news Tuesday morning. If you look at it, this dwarfs Watergate so completely that it’s total. To sell out the country to the Russians? Nixon himself is rolling over in the grave. He hated the Russians as much as anybody, having fought them by proxy all the way through Vietnam. Not that hating Russians is good, but that’s just the kind of guy he was. The world needs a lot less hate, and a lot less of guys like Republican Richard Nixon. Not to mention Donald Trump.

The 2018 Midterms- A Globally Critical Blue Wave.

The 2018 Midterms- A Globally Critical Blue Wave.

The 2018 midterm elections were among the most anticipated races in history, and they did not fail to deliver dramatic results. Throughout the election cycle, word of a Democratic Blue Wave gained momentum, and a watershed voter turnout was the satisfying result. It was the highest for any election held in the United States since Watergate, which seemed suitable for such a high stakes contest. In many cases, the primary considerations of the voters seemed to counterbalance one another. These were the strong economy and the personal repugnance of Trump himself. The president has managed to snatch credit for the strength of the economy, but his low approval ratings pointed to Democratic gains (Washington Post). History has favored the minority party at the time of the president’s first midterm. This tendency, combined with American disgust for Trump himself as a man, to give Democrats control of the half of the Congress known as the House of Representatives by a wide margin.

The achievement of the Democrats can hardly be overstated. Reporter Dan Balz of the Washington Post gave us a few statistics with which to illustrate this point. Democrats flipped about two-thirds of the competitive districts won by both Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Barack Obama in 2012 or by Clinton in 2016 and Mitt Romney in 2012. They also picked up one-third of districts won by Trump in 2016 and Obama in 2012. In districts where both Trump and Romney had won in the previous two elections, Democrats gained about a quarter of the competitive seats (Washington Post). Democrats even managed to break even in net seats in the Senate, though they had faced crushing electoral odds in that chamber. Twenty-five Democratic senators were up for reelection as opposed to only eight Republicans, and many were in states that went solidly red in 2016. Managing to hold the line places Democrats in a fantastic position to retake the Senate in 2020, when the shoe will be on the other foot. While immediate domestic concerns are likely to be given precedence, the effects of the Blue Wave in 2018 are sure to reverberate worldwide.

This tremendous level of electoral enthusiasm was all the more remarkable in that midterm elections in general are not captivating to most voters. In a normal year, only the most ideologically driven and committed members of the electorate tend to turn out for them, and certainly overseas interest is not typically overwhelming. But in recent years, a radical polarization has gripped the global society’s political atmosphere. The specter of World War Two has risen and people are getting scared. A great acrimony and division has spread through America and the rest of the world. Some are calling it a civil cold war, and its battlefields can be found on many fronts. Trenches are being dug under national borders, in some cases, and along gerrymandered district lines in others. People in all corners of the globe had good reason to pay attention, as the struggles highlighted the dramatic and worldwide trouble the human race is having in getting along with itself.

The quality of the candidates selected by the two parties speaks in volumes to the quality of those who did the selecting. Democrats elected eight new scientists. Republicans elected three felons and a dead pimp (Post-Tribune). Something has got to give here. Somebody is going to hold power in America, the world’s sole superpower. We have to look closely at whom. The moderate wing of the Republican Party used to have some allies in it. There were men like John McCain, who in spite of their party affiliation was sound and unselfish Americans. Some of them could be counted on for bipartisan dialogue concerning issues of paramount importance. McCain is now gone, however, and with him the moderate wing of the Republican Party. This type of candidate took serious damage in the midterm primaries. They were discarded in favor of candidates more in line with the views of Donald Trump. Many of these came from the ranks of the alt-right, though the elections also played an important role in illustrating a trend of worsening extremity taking root in the far left. Only center Democrats have reliably proven they can put themselves to the side enough to do what is best for the country.

The 2018 election was in many ways a referendum on the 2016 election, and the events immediately surrounding it. The victory of Donald Trump combined with Brexit constituted significant blows to the American-led, liberal world order, and empowered the radical right. It also empowered Russian president Vladimir Putin, who had spent millions of dollars to defeat Hillary Clinton and get a guy in office he found more pliable. “Putin likes Trump because he supports this view of the world, that the big guys can carve it up,” explained former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov in an interview for Gentlemen’s Quarterly. After Trump won, Kasparov, who is Putin’s former opponent in a Russian presidential election, wrote some predictions down in his new book on the future of the Western world order, Winter is Coming. He believed we had eighteen months in which to turn around the sequence of events that had been started, two years at the most. If we didn’t find a way by then, he felt, it would probably be too late. I thought of those words many times on the way to the voting booths this year. They perfectly summarized the reason it was so important for the Democrats to win the midterms in 2018. Only the full force of American conviction can activate its might enough to keep the world safe for democracy.

Today’s world, like today’s Republican Party, is busy coping with an uptick in reactionary far-right movements, movements that in many cases and nations border on fascism. Alt-right candidates were present in greater number than ever before in the 2018 midterms, and this too is part of a worldwide trend. From Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil to Norbert Hofer in Austria, adherents of racist nationalism have been growing increasingly violent and brazen. A man screams “Hail Trump!” in a movie theater; another during a performance of the Fiddler on the Roof. “Middle America is rallying to the flag of the alt-right,” said Kyle Bristow, a self-described member of the “alt-right” and the attorney of infamous white nationalist Richard Spencer. These candidates mostly lost, but their sheer proliferation is a terrible sign. It goes without saying that all of them were Republicans. The race was representative of the political atmosphere worldwide in that it was ideologically polarized. It saw its fair share of triumphs for liberals and progressives, but it also saw a rise of far-right, white nationalist candidates. Some of these were victorious. The low quality of the Republican candidates has negative consequences for every level of government.

A Democratic retaking of the House of Representatives was a critical first step in containing and reversing this virulent problem. It is why the Resistance showed up in such numbers at the polls. For two years, liberals and progressives have been helpless to do anything but sit idle, as one travesty after another has rocked the global community. We have not had the power to protect our people, or even to get many others to listen or to understand our plight. But with the power to form committees of Congressional inquiry, we can finally start to put the bad guys under a microscope. The power of the House is, in this case, the power of defense.

The elections were not completely without problems for the Democrats. It showed us that ideological faultline is still existent not only in the Republican Party but in the Democratic as well. The rift between the supporters of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton has healed to an extent, and there have been improvements made in this area. Our shared victory in the midterms demonstrated that the progressive wing of the party is beginning to learn from the tremendous mistakes they made in 2016, where undercurrents of far left hard feelings allowed the Russians an easy way to turn the 2016 Democratic primaries into a zoo. The radical left’s extreme love for the Bern reached the levels of a cult by the end of the primary. From the day the Bernie or Bust petition began circulating, it was obvious we were in for trouble. If they couldn’t have Bernie, they said, they would rather have Trump. This attitude was allowed to get highly pervasive, and it killed us in the end.

This time around, Democrats did a far better job of managing conflicts between the two wings of the party. They simmered at a low boil all the way through the midterm primaries but managed to keep from becoming a fight instead of a contest and ruining the Blue Wave. This is a positive sign, suggesting the far left might have learned from 2016, which is good. Most mainstream Democrats have been pushed to the left as far as we will go, and are starting to get ready to push back. Centrist groups like Third Way have been pushing candidates to read up on history and polling. “The party is not going to go in the direction of Sanders-style socialism, because it’s not winning on the issues and it doesn’t win politically except in a very, very limited number of places,” Third Way president Jonathan Cowan tells TIME. “It’s going to go in the direction that won it two presidencies” (Elliott). The last two two-term Democratic Presidents were mainstream Democrats. [That’s] what’s going to get the House back.” It’s important to emphasize here that mainstream Democrats do not seek reorientation of the party. We’ve been doing an excellent job under the worst possible conditions.

Progressive Democrats from the Sanders wing were not without a few reasons to cheer in November’s elections. The upset primary victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over twenty year veteran Joe Crowley for New York’s 14th District stood out on a number of levels. Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest Representative ever elected, and her zealot’s love for socialism has given the Sanders wing a new face and voice to cheer for. My thoughts are that this is not the worst thing in the world, because we need them, and it appears that some healing has taken place. Clinton supporters and Sanders supporters used to very nearly hate each other, and that no longer feels as acutely so. It appears that the left has achieved a degree of unity for now, but it remains to be seen whether this newly placid status quo can survive another presidential primary.

The immediate battles to be faced come January in the House of Representatives are only one part of a much larger problem. Democracy is under attack worldwide. It is being replaced one plank at a time like the proverbial Ship of Theseus. At what point in all this replacing does it become a different ship? Only one thing is certain, at least in the gut level instinct of this writer. Since Trump got elected, this country does not feel the same at all. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, America has been rated as being less than a full democracy for the last two years. The EIU produces an annual review ranking countries on their adherence to 60 distinct democratic values, including electoral processes and press freedom (“America Has Been Classified as a Flawed Democracy”). According to their standards, we’re not a free country anymore. America is now more like Viktor Orban’s Hungary, or Vladimir Putin’s Russia. The rich want to get into power and stay there, and quote the ideals of freedom as the reason they ought to be able to use any means to do so. The only way we can hope to turn this all around is to get the Democrats back into power and keep them there.

The biggest net effect of the midterms is the Democratic retaking of the House because it gives the sane center of the country back the power of defense. Democrats can now protect our country from anymore disastrous Trump ideas. This also sets back Putin’s plan of attaching more of his tendrils and creepers to the grand old castle walls that hold up our country. Proactive measures are more limited. Democrats can form investigative committees, and hold hearings for the purposes of questioning and gathering information. Resources are certain to focus on raising awareness about the Russiagate scandal and other serious challenges facing our democracy. The conduct of Trump and his allies can be highlighted and brought to the forefront of public consciousness everywhere. It should be understood that even with a legislative chamber in blue hands, Republicans still hold the White House and the Senate, and the cooperation of all three is needed to pass a law. Nothing in recent history suggests hope for bipartisan cooperation on any issue, regardless of the issue’s importance. People will see once again how obstructionist and unfair the opposition is, and afterward, it will be easier to help people understand the truth- everything we hold sacred is in danger. If things keep on as they are, the days of American supremacy will be numbered.

A close look at the playing field this election has left us with will prove useful as we step into the future. Blue Wave 2018 hit home for the midterms, and it gave us a great start. But the world remains beneath the dark shadow of a large-scale hatefulness and mayhem. The potential for danger and disorder is so great that it seems almost redundant to say so. As someone who has lived through all this, and read not just eight articles about it but hundreds, I feel that this narrative is being neglected and understated. This is due to responsible journalists not wanting to sound alarmist, in some cases, and it’s comforting to tell ourselves we’re in less trouble than we are. But the country’s divisions have been highlighted and exacerbated by hostile foreign powers such as Russia, who also targeted the 2018 midterms. This has added urgency to the issue and made them even more difficult to ignore. Going forward, it will be incumbent on the Democratic leadership, under the new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, to use their regained power dexterously. To show the people of the country that there is a reasonable alternative to the bedlam created by the current administration, resources must be channeled wisely and well. Good thing we’ve got a professional headed for the Speaker’s Chair. We’re really going to need her.

In studying the political history of America, the scholar will note along with Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., who wrote in his Age of Roosevelt that foreign radicalism has never taken deep root here. From the visceral horror felt by the Founding Fathers toward the bloodbath going on in France to the resolute pursuance of seeing an end to the Nazis, America has always managed to resist being taken in by extremism from left or right. The source of our strength as a nation’s people has always lain in our ability to value compromise and moderation, which are necessary if we wish in times of crisis to be able to pull together with the full force of American conviction behind us, like when we fought World War Two. When these values are abandoned, democratic nations start to fall. If we lose our ability to communicate, we clearly can’t coordinate strategy. Only the full force of America’s people can activate its might enough to keep the world safe for democracy.  Our ability to hold the center is why we have become and remained so strong.

After looking at all this, a simple question remains. Has America ever faced a midterm election like 2018? In considering its potential impact of it on the country and its global standing, many would argue that the answer lies in the negative. The Trump administration has been a disaster of colossal proportion. Every day that America is represented in its highest office by a man who many would argue is both corrupt and deeply incompetent is a day in which we are vulnerable in the eyes of the world. Resisting his demented policies has taken everything we have, but we managed it even though we held so little power. After two years of that, holding the House of Representatives feels like a tremendous luxury of strength. We can assure the Trump presidency will be a lame duck from this point on. We can’t start setting things to rights just yet, but we can stop the current Oval Office occupant when he tries to do further damage. We can block his cruel new policies, and removing his ability to hamstring our future with corrupt appointees like the Supreme Court’s Brett Kavanaugh. This is why it was so crucial for the Democratic “Blue Wave” to sweep America.

Cohen Sentenced, End In Sight For Trump Era. To You In The Alt-Right, Get Out In Time.

Cohen Sentenced! The Jig Is Up For Trump's Era.

Former fixer to the illegitimate 45th president of America Michael Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison this morning. He has now joined the ranks of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, other major figures in the Trump 2016 campaign who turned out to be felons. Cohen, to his credit, took full public accountability during his sentencing, and will now go serve three years in prison. While he is there, he will have plenty of time to reflect on the errors of his ways. We wish him the best in regaining his soul and changing his life, and we thank him for thoroughly implicating Donald Trump.

But don’t feel too sorry for him! HA!

This tweet may have aged more poorly than any tweet in human history pic.twitter.com/dojbUoVWpz— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) December 12, 2018

According to Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, after the Robert Mueller investigation wraps up, Cohen wants “to state publicly all he knows about Mr. Trump. And that includes any appropriate congressional committee interested in the search for truth and the difference between facts and lies.”

That is a clear reference to the Blue Wave that led to the Democratic retaking of the House, and the investigative committees that have already been formed. We are about to take off on the lousy bum in the White House, is what that means, and Cohen threw us the lob ball. It’s just floating there now, up in the sky. The end is coming soon for the most crooked presidential administration in the history of the country.

Cohen’s sentencing is big, but far bigger was the effect of Mueller releasing his sentencing memo for Michael Flynn last week. This came to us heavily redacted, meaning they didn’t want the public to see a good chunk of it. But one key piece of data was conspicuously left hanging out all over the place. Trump’s transition team was in up to their necks in Flynn’s illegal Russia dealings. Cohen was right there in the mix, fixing for the Russian-financed Trump.

In the midst of it all, Trump still thinks he’s getting his wall. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer cashed him for his “petulant tantrum.” Everyone laughed, just like when Pence’s chief of staff publicly turned him down to replace the dearly departing John Kelly and dissed him by refusing the job via Twitter. He’s become an even bigger joke than he used to be, but I’d bet anything his bosses aren’t laughing anymore.

This is about to backfire horribly on Russia. Former spy and National Rifle Association enthusiast Maria Butina just signed a plea deal. She used to be their lady, until American justice caught her, broke her in the hole, and turned her into an American asset. The Russian people will soon realize two things: that Vladimir Putin can’t protect them, and that Putin can’t protect himself. He’s old. He’ll soon be gone. And so will Donald Trump. They had better find a way to get rid of him.

Next, we would like to address any of you out there who might chance across this article who used to go around wearing those stupid red MAGA hats, who put those signs of his up in your yard, wore his buttons and T-shirts around, et cetera. Change sides before it is too late. As Gandalf said to Saruman, “You have been deep in the counsels of the enemy. There is much good you could still do.”

Learn from Michael Cohen and Maria Butina. Realize you’ve been played by a corrupt mobster dictator who hates the United States and wants to enrich Russia at our expense, to the global detriment of everyone. Understand in time that Trump was not who you hoped he was, and that he did not really share your conservative values. He is a debauched, corrupt old businessman from New York City. Since when has Middle America allowed itself to be taken in by the likes of that? Aren’t you sick of it yet? If you don’t want to find yourselves in a hole too deep to dig free of, you had better come back around and help us out while there’s still time.

This brings us to our next point- If you are a former member of the alt-right, or the alt-left for that matter, who has seen the error of your ways and want to come around and help the cause, write in to us! You may have been young two years ago, and youthful errors are not unique to you. But pretty soon you won’t be. You’ll just be old, alone, and in trouble.
The alt-right is a shadow of its former self. Your leaders have taken your money and abandoned you, and were never real leaders to begin with. Take Richard Spencer, for example. According to our sources from within your organizations, that guy is a predator known for seducing the wives of all his comrades. He beats his own wife, according to her. You think he cares about you? That little psychopath James Fields had no one’s support except his mother’s when he got sentenced to life in prison recently for murdering Heather Heyer at Charlottesville last year. Your hero, “Baked Alaska”- His comments on the subject involved profanity, the word “murderer”, and “I’m out by the pool.”

Anything you’ve got that might be helpful, any information on what the alt-right leadership is doing or where they are doing it or who they are doing it to. Send it in to us, and we’ll publish it. Anything that has to be turned over to higher authorities will be, but you will be kept anonymous so long as you’re not confessing to any crimes. You have our word.

All of us who were raised here in America know who the ultimate enemy was growing up. The Russians! Our fathers and our grandfathers who fought in World War Two, Vietnam, and Korea, would be horrified at what has happened here. Now that you have been forced to see, by Republican Robert Mueller, that Donald Trump really was a stooge for Putin, please come back to reason. You are being called upon to come back around and save your country. They’ve got malware in our power grids. This is not a game.

You guys should work together with us to make America greater, we at Millennial Democrats are with you! We don’t believe it ever stopped being great, and we sure aren’t with the socialists who say it is broken and ought to be discarded! We are in this together, and we ought to find some way to come to terms.

If you help us now, Fate will reward you, and Providence will receive you. Be good Americans at this moment of greatest need, and that is how you will be remembered when all this is over. Good people, who made a mistake, took accountability and learned from it on the way to doing what their country needed from them. Get out in time!

Don’t drag this out to the bitter end.
