Cohen Sentenced, End In Sight For Trump Era. To You In The Alt-Right, Get Out In Time.

Cohen Sentenced! The Jig Is Up For Trump's Era.

Former fixer to the illegitimate 45th president of America Michael Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison this morning. He has now joined the ranks of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, other major figures in the Trump 2016 campaign who turned out to be felons. Cohen, to his credit, took full public accountability during his sentencing, and will now go serve three years in prison. While he is there, he will have plenty of time to reflect on the errors of his ways. We wish him the best in regaining his soul and changing his life, and we thank him for thoroughly implicating Donald Trump.

But don’t feel too sorry for him! HA!

According to Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, after the Robert Mueller investigation wraps up, Cohen wants “to state publicly all he knows about Mr. Trump. And that includes any appropriate congressional committee interested in the search for truth and the difference between facts and lies.”

That is a clear reference to the Blue Wave that led to the Democratic retaking of the House, and the investigative committees that have already been formed. We are about to take off on the lousy bum in the White House, is what that means, and Cohen threw us the lob ball. It’s just floating there now, up in the sky. The end is coming soon for the most crooked presidential administration in the history of the country.

Cohen’s sentencing is big, but far bigger was the effect of Mueller releasing his sentencing memo for Michael Flynn last week. This came to us heavily redacted, meaning they didn’t want the public to see a good chunk of it. But one key piece of data was conspicuously left hanging out all over the place. Trump’s transition team was in up to their necks in Flynn’s illegal Russia dealings. Cohen was right there in the mix, fixing for the Russian-financed Trump.

In the midst of it all, Trump still thinks he’s getting his wall. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer cashed him for his “petulant tantrum.” Everyone laughed, just like when Pence’s chief of staff publicly turned him down to replace the dearly departing John Kelly and dissed him by refusing the job via Twitter. He’s become an even bigger joke than he used to be, but I’d bet anything his bosses aren’t laughing anymore.

This is about to backfire horribly on Russia. Former spy and National Rifle Association enthusiast Maria Butina just signed a plea deal. She used to be their lady, until American justice caught her, broke her in the hole, and turned her into an American asset. The Russian people will soon realize two things: that Vladimir Putin can’t protect them, and that Putin can’t protect himself. He’s old. He’ll soon be gone. And so will Donald Trump. They had better find a way to get rid of him.

Next, we would like to address any of you out there who might chance across this article who used to go around wearing those stupid red MAGA hats, who put those signs of his up in your yard, wore his buttons and T-shirts around, et cetera. Change sides before it is too late. As Gandalf said to Saruman, “You have been deep in the counsels of the enemy. There is much good you could still do.”

Learn from Michael Cohen and Maria Butina. Realize you’ve been played by a corrupt mobster dictator who hates the United States and wants to enrich Russia at our expense, to the global detriment of everyone. Understand in time that Trump was not who you hoped he was, and that he did not really share your conservative values. He is a debauched, corrupt old businessman from New York City. Since when has Middle America allowed itself to be taken in by the likes of that? Aren’t you sick of it yet? If you don’t want to find yourselves in a hole too deep to dig free of, you had better come back around and help us out while there’s still time.

This brings us to our next point- If you are a former member of the alt-right, or the alt-left for that matter, who has seen the error of your ways and want to come around and help the cause, write in to us! You may have been young two years ago, and youthful errors are not unique to you. But pretty soon you won’t be. You’ll just be old, alone, and in trouble.
The alt-right is a shadow of its former self. Your leaders have taken your money and abandoned you, and were never real leaders to begin with. Take Richard Spencer, for example. According to our sources from within your organizations, that guy is a predator known for seducing the wives of all his comrades. He beats his own wife, according to her. You think he cares about you? That little psychopath James Fields had no one’s support except his mother’s when he got sentenced to life in prison recently for murdering Heather Heyer at Charlottesville last year. Your hero, “Baked Alaska”- His comments on the subject involved profanity, the word “murderer”, and “I’m out by the pool.”

Anything you’ve got that might be helpful, any information on what the alt-right leadership is doing or where they are doing it or who they are doing it to. Send it in to us, and we’ll publish it. Anything that has to be turned over to higher authorities will be, but you will be kept anonymous so long as you’re not confessing to any crimes. You have our word.

All of us who were raised here in America know who the ultimate enemy was growing up. The Russians! Our fathers and our grandfathers who fought in World War Two, Vietnam, and Korea, would be horrified at what has happened here. Now that you have been forced to see, by Republican Robert Mueller, that Donald Trump really was a stooge for Putin, please come back to reason. You are being called upon to come back around and save your country. They’ve got malware in our power grids. This is not a game.

You guys should work together with us to make America greater, we at Millennial Democrats are with you! We don’t believe it ever stopped being great, and we sure aren’t with the socialists who say it is broken and ought to be discarded! We are in this together, and we ought to find some way to come to terms.

If you help us now, Fate will reward you, and Providence will receive you. Be good Americans at this moment of greatest need, and that is how you will be remembered when all this is over. Good people, who made a mistake, took accountability and learned from it on the way to doing what their country needed from them. Get out in time!

Don’t drag this out to the bitter end.

The Blue Wave Sweeps America! Hard Times Ahead for Trump and GOP.

The Blue Wave struck home hard last week! It was a great day for the country, the Democratic Party, and the world. It also gave this Millennial Democrats contributor the first week off from politics he’s had since this all began. God bless you all!

Now that we’ve retaken the House, we can start the process of setting this country right in earnest. The Trump administration is terrified.

They should be.

Last Tuesday, the difference between the two parties could not have been more stark. Democrats elected eight scientists, along with all kinds of other amazing people. We elected Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest Representative in the history of the United States; congratulations to her.

She’s a credit to all Millennial Democrats although we pray daily that she’ll cut out this stuff about socialism- what would have happened if Trump would have had an all-powerful State apparatus? One shudders to think.

We also elected four openly gay candidates and forty women. That’s what it really means to be progressive. One commits to making progress and pursues that goal ethically.

The Republicans elected three felons. And a dead pimp. Good luck squeezing ethics out of that guy.

The sickness of fear is spreading through the Trump White House and the whole hideous GOP. They know we’re going to rip up the floorboards, and they know what we are going to find. Every one of them that proves to be a crook will be shattered by us, and their own crimes will be the hammer that we use. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Now they will all get to see the difference between sloppy amateurs and motivated professionals. Now they will get to see what real Americans can do. They are going to have a lot of bills to pay and the interest has been rising thanks to their own greed and slovenly conduct. And it will be us who gets to bring them the check.

One of the first on the list will be Lindsey Graham, a man we used to write good things about. He was an outspoken critic of Donald Trump during the 2016 election cycle and he was a good friend of John McCain’s.

His honor died with the latter.

The Blue Wave hit home hard last Tuesday night, and America is breathing easier. These have been some of the most stress-filled times in our country’s proud history. That ends officially in January, and Nancy Pelosi will be the Speaker of the House once again.

Democrats are going to investigate every foul deed they have committed for this whole miserable debacle, and Millennial Democrats will be right here to report on those investigations.

We would like to thank you all for your support, in the past, present, and future. Together, we hung tight, and have managed to save our country in the process. All we have to do is keep on keeping on, and the Donald Trump era will be a thing of the past forever. We are almost there! See you in the trenches.

Decades of Disgrace With Kavanaugh- Collins Soils Her Legacy.

Alleged rapist Brett Kavanaugh got a big step closer to confirmation today.

It sickens me to even have to write this. Can’t we do better? Is a drunken slob like this really the best that America can offer its highest seats of jurisprudence? What implication does that have for our country?

These questions lack satisfactory answers completely.

Where are we going with this? That is what I’d like to ask Flake and the others this week who allowed that whitewashed FBI investigation to self-delude about a decision of such monumental import.

The FBI didn’t talk to Kavanaugh or his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and the Trump administration refused to even let them discuss Julie Swetnick, the third accuser.

They even ignored the testimony of Kenneth Appold, one of the most respected theological professors in the nation who said he could personally corroborate that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted Deborah Ramirez in high school. That “investigation” was a total sham. It was a sick joke. It reminded me of a dying goldfish I had as a little kid.

Don’t they see? If things keep along the way they are, the progress made in the last one hundred years will be lost. We’ll be right back in the good ol’ boy days, the days of cronyism and graft and corruption.

And then I remember- That’s exactly what they want.

I’m good and disgusted this morning. I keep seeing the twisted up rage in the face of the whiner Kavanaugh, threatening and storming, screaming up the 40-year-old Virgin defense. He looked like a cartoon character of somebody sniveling.

I compare that with the dignity on the face of Christine Blasey Ford, who risked every aspect of her safe and quiet life to get up there on that podium and tell that humiliating story. Who wants to be a victim?

The people who go around spouting that “false accusation, men are the victims” lie always manage to leave that part out. It’s a miserable, embarrassing thing to have someone come along and do unto you. Nobody wants to think of themselves that way.

This was not a person likely to be bought off; if she was, the Republicans would have outbid us anyway. They would have paid anything to jam that guy through. The only hope we had was that some decency would rise up in the hearts of a few of the Republicans, and in one case, it did.

Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted no, and Susan Collins has still yet to declare officially, we’re waiting on that to come through in an hour. But he passed this hurdle, and there’s no mistaking it.

Regarding the lone Democratic yes, that of West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, even if he had voted no, Mike Pence would have broken the tie. It would not have slowed down Kavanaugh’s path to confirmation at all, and it would probably have cost Manchin his bid for reelection. He’s currently beating his primary opponent,

If the opportunity opens for Joe to use his vote to stop Kavanaugh, he will do it, and all true Democrats know this. If it doesn’t, then who cares who he voted for? Usually, only purists from the far left who live in progressive states. Easy for them to say. Red-state pragmatism is necessary. In the end he’s one of us.

We have seen this kind of thing before. It’s all an eerie repeat of 1992, and the Anita Hill hearings on Capitol Hill. Again, it was because the Republicans were trying to force a loathsome sex offender, Clarence Thomas(who has used his power to make one ruling in the last twelve years, shortly after media publicity revealed that he had not bothered to do so in ten years) down our throats and onto the Supreme Court bench.

Going forward, it’s important to remember that cloture is not the same as confirmation. We still have hope of a last minute change of heart, and even if he’s confirmed ultimately, it’s still not the end of the world. It’s just really disgusting. The fight was still worth it. We’re thirty-two days from the election, and this whole ordeal has empowered the Blue Wave beyond anything we have seen so far. 1992 saw Thomas get in, regardless of what he had done to Hill, but it saw a few other things also.

Televised images of a committee, composed exclusively of white males, sharply questioning African-American law professor Anita Hill disturbed many women, and of a sudden, they became galvanized en masse. It became known as the Year of the Woman.

Not long after, on January 3, 1993, for the first time in American history, California became the first state in the nation to be represented in the Senate by two women- Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein, who of course was the one to blow the whistle on Kavanaugh in today’s saga.

History repeats itself constantly, and the events of the 1980’s and 90’s have played an odd role in all this, with the sitcom stars and professional wrestling videos, and all the rest of it. If the past is any indication, the Year of the Democratic Woman, 2018, is going to crash into the Republicans with the force of a nuclear tsunami.

Go ahead and push it through, Republicans. Ruin your names for all of history. That’s what we want you to do. Because when we get back in power, we’re going to dismantle you with this.

Trump Gets Rough Treatment from Pecker- How Deep Is He In?

Trump Is In Deep!

A week that started out with the news that White House counsel Don McGahn had cooperated extensively with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, sitting down for more than 30 hours of interviews, did not improve for our nation’s 45th president, although he did manage to yet again make the cover of his beloved Time Magazine- most of him, anyway.

By now everyone knows that in addition to the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort bombshells, all kinds of different people have been turning on Trump as well.

News came out Friday that federal prosecutors in Manhattan struck a deal earlier this summer with Allen Weisselberg, the longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization. He too was granted immunity for his upcoming grand jury testimony regarding those hush payments.

Time Politics correspondent Philip Elliott spoke of hearing “fear” in the voices of Trump staffers. “They can’t even agree on what ocean they’re in,” he said.

Earlier this week, the big news was that David Pecker, the head of the company that publishes the National Enquirer, American Media Inc, was granted immunity in the federal investigation that is going on around Michael Cohen in exchange for providing information on hush money deals, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Pecker told prosecutors that Trump knew all about Cohen’s payments to the women who claimed to have had sex with Trump, sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Pecker also provided investigators with details about payments Cohen made to the women, the sources said.
Prosecutors also granted immunity to A.M.I.’s chief content officer, Australian journalist Dylan Howard, so that he would describe Trump’s involvement in the matter.
All week long, it just kept rolling in. Friday night saw Trump World Tower doorman Dino Sajudin is claiming he’s got the scoop on an affair President Donald Trump had with an ex-housekeeper, one that resulted in a child born out of wedlock.
Legally speaking, he is now able to talk about a contract that he entered with AMI that had prohibited him from discussing the matter with anyone, according to his attorney.
That’s also what happened earlier this year, both with Stormy Daniels and Karen MacDougal, the latter of whom made it a point to claim she would never have sold her story to the National Enquirer in the first place, if she would have known they weren’t going to publish it. A “catch-and-kill” contract, they called it.
Earlier this year, a judge ruled that she, like Sajudin, could tell her story anyway.
Get ’em, Dino Sajudin and Karen MacDougal. I hope you take Pecker and jam him right up Donald’s assets.
Jerry George, who worked for the National Enquirer for 28 years, told CNN’s Erica Hill he thinks Pecker would turn on Trump to “save his own skin,” and that’s what they all seem to be doing. What a surprise.
Going forward, our usual task of raising awareness will not be very hard. All the world is aware that Donald Trump is a sinking ship, and we all know what sort of animals jump off them. This is a deeply corrupt and foolish man, a silly and arrogant man, one who really believed he could hide all this and still be the president. He’s getting what he deserves in Biblical proportions.  Good.
Presidents in generations to come will look to him as an abject model, and his name will become a spiteful slight to cast at other despots.
Obscene jokes and references abound, and the whole development has a bizarre air of perverted humor that somehow says a lot about the state of things today. If our president wasn’t a pervert, we wouldn’t be writing this now. But for Trump they’re not funny at all. Because David Pecker knows a lot that can hurt Donald Trump.

It took him all of two seconds to flip over, which has hit Trump where it hurts, penetrating deep into the core of the network of friends and allies he’s come to rely on over the years. For Pecker to come out with all he knows will be very messy for Trump.

He’s been buying up stories on Trump, only to suppress them, for many years now.

“They’ve got a safe full,” says Jerry George, a former senior editor at A.M.I.

We bet they do.

There is a clear moral to this story, and in it is a lesson to stand for all time. Corruption, in the end, is always its own reward. And the truth is always stronger than mere lies.

Human Rights Crisis on the Border- Children of Immigrants Warehoused.

Immigrant Children

Officials from the Trump administration have been snatching children from their parents upon their arrival at the border, hoping to create a deterrent to immigrant parents trying to enter the United States.

Their concept is that fewer parents will ever try to enter the United States if they fear their children will be stolen from them.

Using the misery of children as a way to manipulate their parents is the act of a terrorist, not a president. Not only is this a cruel and savage policy, it isn’t even working. Leave it to the Republicans.

Friday’s revelation that the Trump administration separated 1,995 children from 1,940 adults between April 19 and May 31, according to a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, has painted more of the picture for us, in stark and ugly relief.

The administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, which was announced by the Department of Justice in April, separates children from their parents or legal guardians because the adults have been referred to DHS for prosecution for illegal entry into the United States.

The officials could not say whether parents were allowed to say goodbye to their parents before they are separated. Some reports have said parents are told their child is being taken to a separate facility for a bath, only to never see them again. In some cases, the children have been sent to places as far away as Chicago.

Separating parents from children was rare under the Obama administration and even the early Trump administration according to Reuters. They just started doing this, and it’s already been two thousand little kids. That’s approximately 46 children per day, over a six-week period.

We are not going to forget about those kids, and we’ll make sure no one else does, either. I wish there was more I could do.

The people who are responsible for this show no signs of allowing themselves to be held accountable by civilian authority. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Oregon, when he tried to visit the facility on June 3, was turned away at the door. They also show no signs of planning to give those children back.

This is not the way things are done in the country we grew up in.

It seems like common sense to us, but not to the chief law enforcement officer in the country, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who used a Biblical passage on Thursday to try and justify these cruel and extreme actions.

“I would like to cite to you the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13,” Sessions said in a speech to law enforcement officers in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sessions went on to insist that the Bible argues Christians must “obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order.”

That same Bible passage was formerly used to justify slavery. It’s worth remembering here that Coretta Scott King herself warned us about Jeff Sessions.

As a brief aside, there are few things worse than using the sincere and earnest faith held by others as a way to convince them to go along with something ugly. The history of Christianity in America is full of that already, and we’re not about to accept this anymore. Do not drag the Bible through the mud.

As it becomes more clear that our worst nightmares have come true with this president, it becomes more clear as well that we have come up against something here that we have really got to resist.

This is not a game, nor a faux revolution. They’re locking up children in warehouses and holding them hostage. You cannot look something like that in the face and turn away without having made a choice. Silence is consent.

Hitler could never have come to power without the “ordinary Germans” who were willing to turn their backs on it all, for a comfortable life and trains that ran on time.

The comparisons to Nazis grow harder to ignore by the hour. The White House barked at MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough for coming out and saying it, but he was right, of course.

If only Trump took not acting like a Nazi as seriously as he seems to take not looking like one.

We have to hold out hope that there are still people out there in his camp that can still be convinced not to support him, by shining light on what he’s doing and making it impossible to ignore. We will accept any help, we will work with anybody.

Going forward, we can keep the pressure on them by raising awareness about what they are doing. Trump’s new policy is repugnant even for him.

This is a human rights issue, one that may well be the biggest of our time, and history will not look well upon those who are on the wrong side of it.  We’ve got to keep speaking out until they finally hear us.

If ever there was a time for a widespread moral outcry, this is it.

Millennials, Cannabis, and the Opioid Epidemic- Leave Them Kids Alone!

#SaveOurChildren

While speaking to a bewildered crowd in western Pennsylvania on Saturday, Donald Trump went on a rant about solving the opioid epidemic, by giving drug dealers the death penalty. Not for the first time, either. The situation typifies Trump’s inane and ridiculous thinking. The situation is as lethal as can be already.

If our government wants to solve the opioid epidemic, we think that’s great. We believe it can make some big changes, and we would like to give its members some advice. We feel qualified to do so, as drug laws have ravaged our entire generation. The opioid epidemic has hit millennials and their baby boomer parents the hardest.

It’s high time for America to have this conversation.

Millennial Democrats talked to over a hundred millennial drug addicts to do this piece. Based on their stories, we have come to the following conclusions.

First off, let us have our weed. Quit locking people up for weed. Quit administering urine tests for weed. It’s the legal system that is destroying lives because of cannabis, not cannabis destroying lives.

Many people rely on marijuana, to help them get through their daily lives with greater efficiency and happiness in their work.

Cannabis is a great cure for boredom. It makes all kinds of things interesting. Rather than Ritalin or amphetamine, many people our age have found it helpful for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder, a disease they said we had. If it wasn’t for the unfair legal restrictions people in the industry face, studies proving its efficacy would have filled up many journals long ago.

In short, cannabis is not the problem; just the opposite. It’s been a help to the human race for thousands of years.

The problem comes in when the person and his cannabis first come into contact with the law.

Picture this: One day, you’re a bright-eyed college kid, getting straight A’s and looking forward to what to all appearances will be a very bright future. You’ve got a progressive set of values and a live-and-let-live sort of attitude, and so you can be counted on to reliably vote Democratic.

The next day, you’re in a car that gets pulled over, and you get searched and your weed is found.

Next thing you know, you’re in jail. Around killers and child molesters, bank robbers and woman beaters like Corey Lewandowski. Every minute is a torture, your self-respect is shattered forever, and you never stop feeling like a second-class citizen again- nor will society ever let you.

It is the opinion of Millennial Democrats that this state of affairs came about for a reason. It’s a very easy way for the right to hamstring the left.

The War on Drugs, although commonly associated with Ronald and Nancy Reagan, was actually Richard Nixon’s creation. It was developed and refined as a strategy to hamstring the lives of voters who Nixon saw as reliably Democratic, according to White House tapes.

Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman said, “We had two enemies- the antiwar left, and the blacks.  We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black. But by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs themselves? Of course we did.”

Returning to our scenario, after some amount of time your sentence in jail is over, and they eventually let you out. Having committed the unthinkable outrage of destroying your life over a harmless and helpful plant, they now proceed to tell you that this was done for your own good and that in fact you owe them money, to cover the costs of your own correction and your ongoing criminal supervision, known generally as probation or parole.

Who’s the criminal, in this scenario? The man, or the State?

This bill will include the cost of your urinalysis.

Thank God, you think. I’m finally out. Time to smoke a fat one, so you do. The pungent cloud of smoke in the room combined with some good friends and music almost makes it possible for you to forget, for a second, the manner in which they defiled you.

The next day, you follow the instructions given to you at the county jail, and you go to see your parole officer. Upon arrival, they give you a strange-looking cup and tell you to pee in it.

Your pee is then sent off to a laboratory somewhere, where a demon in a lab coat will examine it using tungsten-filament lights to see what chemicals are floating around in your fluids.

If the byproducts of cannabis alkaloids are found there, you will receive an unpleasant phone call from your P.O. and you’ll be called back in to discuss it.

It’s not until you get there that you realize what is really going on. It wasn’t just that one time you had to go to jail for. You can’t just resolve not to have weed on you anymore.

They actually expect you not to smoke it. Period. And if you ever do smoke weed again, back to jail you go.

Leaving their office, your world in a shambles, you take a moment to reflect. You have no idea what you’re going to do. You’ve been smoking weed every day for years. It’s part of who you are. You think of trying to get through your daily life with nothing, and you shudder deep to your core.

It is at this moment that you start to look around for substitutes. Soon, they find that the drugs that get you closest and leave your system the fastest, are opioids.

There seems to be something about Vicodin. Everybody started out on Vicodin. Oxys are too strong, at first, and of course the very last thing on your mind is doing heroin.

You’ve been around for long enough to know that the gateway drug theory is a lot of crap. You’d always vowed to prove it with your own life. So although the big H is too hardcore for you, something like a Tylenol 3 or a Vicodin seems just right.

But now, you’re finding out something else unpleasant. Unlike weed, which has essentially the same effect every time, you find out very quickly that the Vicodin you took yesterday worked a lot better than the one you took today. So you take two, and the next day three, and then you get yet another nasty surprise.

Unlike weed, which you could smoke or not smoke according to how you were feeling and what you had going on, you find out pretty quick that your new friend insists that you use him according to a schedule, or he’ll make you sick. Very sick.

One day you wake up and you realize that Vicodin no longer works at all. But your doctor has the answer. OxyContin. You’ve been artificially forced down the road to the gateway drug theory.

Furthermore, when you tell this to the doctor, he takes them away from you and labels you an addict. He has no choice since if you mess yourself up on them past a certain point, HE can go to prison.

All but beside yourself, you leave his office shaking your head. You have no idea what you’re going to do now. You think of taking your own life. You know that many do commit suicide rather than face the prospect of more unbearable pain and sickness.

You decide to get some coffee at the corner store. The blunt wraps on the counter remind you of the good old days before the government decided you were sick and needed curing. When you step back outside and hit the corner, someone is standing there. He looks at you knowingly, and asks you, with compassion in his eyes, “You sick, man?”

In the palm of his hand are the corners of baggies, with tiny amounts of heroin resting in each.

After a while, you get off probation or parole, or you get so many dirty UA’s that you’re sent back to prison, and you’re set loose from there, but it’s never the same again. You are strung out, and your head is messed up. The brightness of your eyes is gone, and there is nothing that anyone can do to put it back there.

The days when you could just smoke weed to get by are gone. Distant as the dinosaurs. You give the just-weed diet a shot for a little while, but by this point, most of the guys you’d smoked blunts with are all gone too, either in the system like you are or diverted back into society. There’s no one left to smoke with. Not anymore.

Thankful to be out, you relax at home and prepare a well-deserved fix, but you forget that your tolerance has reset itself after all that time behind bars.

As soon as you hit that plunger, that drug hits you, hard. You think to yourself, I might be in trouble here, but you feel so good you just sort of forget to breathe. You have overdosed and you are drifting quickly into unconsciousness. Your mother sees your lips turning blue on the toilet and tries to revive you, but by the time the ambulance comes, it’s already too late.

The bright-eyed college student you were will never think anything again.

The drugs of the future are here today. Dreaded heroin is no longer the king of the opioid pyramid. Fentanyl is eighty times more potent than morphine, milligram for milligram. Recently an analogue drug called Carfentanyl has been making the rounds.

Carfentanyl is ten thousand times as strong as morphine.

A kilogram of it was seized coming across the border from Canada last year. It was more than enough to overdose the entire population of the United States.

More Americans died of drug overdoses in 2016 than died in the entirety of the Vietnam War — the result of the US’s opioid epidemic.

Recently Purdue Pharmaceuticals, the company who originally patented that miracle of a wonder drug OxyContin, closed a number of its Oxy factories and stopped instructing doctors to push them on people.

It’s twenty years too late for that. Even fifteen years ago, it was already too late. Heroin use in America reached an all-time high in 2003 and has steadily gotten worse ever since. By 2014 it had tripled.

By this point, the opioid epidemic is like a wildfire, spreading across the land, completely out of control. It will burn and burn until its fuel is gone, and the people in charge do not really understand this. They do not understand that what is fueling this epidemic is not the supply of the drugs, but the demand for them.

The demand for drugs is caused by pain. Most of us are feeling too much of it so that a very few might feel a bit less.

American income inequality has skyrocketed over the last 30 years, as costs have risen while wages have stagnated for the middle- and lower classes.

Those who perceive all this taking place and refuse to participate are treated as criminals and pariahs and sent down the road of our John Doe Millennial. In 2016 there were 1,572,579 arrests for drug law violations.

Until Americans cease to be treated like cattle by their billionaire neighbors anymore, cattle who own nothing and are entitled to nothing, there is always going to be a lot of pain. Where there is pain, there will be people seeking help for pain. The only way to remove that pain is to lighten the burdens of the people.

In order for that to happen, power must be wrested from the parasites and given to those who are motivated by that merciful goal. There is only one hope for a cure for the opioid epidemic, and it doesn’t involve the death penalty.

Vote blue.

A Disaster Named Victory- Trump Sacrifices Economy for Ratings Boost.

A dark cloud on the American horizon
Donald Trump has always gone around saying that he understands the tax code better than any man alive. If true, such a fact suggests to the layman that an ant could do your taxes, if only it could hold a pencil. Actually, however, it is a fundamental truth of American life that the process is very confusing. Litigator Andrew Grossman recently wrote an article, titled Is The Tax Code Really 70,000 Pages Long?
This is why the approval ratings for Trump and the GOP have recently taken an upward bounce. Although they have wrought a disaster in the form of their new tax plan, they hailed it as a victory. And most red voters have no idea at all why this is wrong.
Paul Ryan tweeted out the following- and promptly deleted it.
“A secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, PA, said she was pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week- said that would more than cover the cost of her COSTCO membership next year!”
One doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Is this something to worry about? Yes, it’s scary. Anytime anything good happens for those jackals, it’s scary. But it was easy to predict they would get a bounce off this before it starts to hurt people. The negatives will start hitting home pretty soon. And when they do, we have to catch it and make sure that we give credit where it’s due.
The bill is a disaster in every way. Fareed Zakaria called it “possibly the worst piece of major legislation in a generation
But even still, they did manage to pass something through a legislature, for the first time in Trump’s entire disaster of a presidency. For that reason alone, this looks like a victory for the GOP on the surface. Unless people can be shown how bad this will cost them, we will not have what we need to get that giant mammal out of the White House.
Remember when Bush got reelected in 2004? He was all smiles and sweetness before the election. Within another year, though, he showed his true intent. The first thing that happened was we had the gas price crisis smash home, safely after he’d have 4 more years to do all the harm he could.
Then, those who’d voted for him were miserable. Lamentations could be heard at every gas station in America. Unkind fate, that gives us what we pay for!
If we wish to avoid a repeat of those horrible years, a number of things are necessary, but certainly among them, developing a working understanding of what state tax dollars do and where they go is critical.
States help educate the nation’s children, build and repair its roads and bridges, provide health coverage to low-income families and their children, and much more.  Many of these services are essential to building strong, healthy communities and the nation’s long-term economic vitality.
Although the exact amount varies greatly from state to state, federal tax money is distributed to all the states and is a sizeable chunk of its revenue, the revenue allotted to the maintenance of these crucial infrastructural expenses.
Thus, less federal revenue means less money for the states. Less money for the states means less money for local areas, which means local and state tax and cost increases.
This is how local and state and cost increases in education and healthcare give such a severe beating to middle income.
Gigantic federal top income tax cuts lead to regular folks getting slammed with state and local increases.
All of this is the pits for anyone who isn’t a billionaire, of course, but the conservative media machine rolled right into effect to make it seem otherwise. The trick is both disingenuous and brutal.
They cut one part of your taxes, the federal, and make it personal by boasting about it on television. They then take a substantially larger piece of your income from you as state and local taxes, but they make it abstract. They do all they can to keep the two from being related in the minds of the people.
During Obama’s tenure in office, the data demonstrated clearly that the U.S. individual income tax was very progressive, borne mainly by the highest income earners. In 2014, the top 1 percent paid a greater share of individual income taxes than the bottom 90 percent combined.
Reversing that state of affairs is the reason that Trump was put in power.
Poor people and seniors will get slammed terribly and subjected to varying indignities from those who believe one must earn the right to live. Medicaid is always first on the chopping block; in fact, just last month, the Trump administration announced that it would grant states the right to impose work requirements for Medicaid recipients.
Local and state governments will raise cash by setting more regulations. More fines, more fees, raised vehicle registration, increased water bills. etc.
An expert in the field wrote Millennial Democrats with the following observation.
“Every penny, dime, and dollar that top income gets a tax cut for, low and middle income gets backdoor increases to pay for it.”
The people will get hit from both ends, and then be told that this is because Democrats want to raise their taxes and give the money to Muslims. Middle America gets badly burned, to the sound of the Trump voter cheering for it.
Low and middle income will get hit with a few hundred or a few thousand cost increases. City officials will literally sit around, thinking up rules for us to break. Whatever minute tax cut we’ll get will be consumed by that. Only the 1% will benefit.
Before the GOP started in with this crap about the big top income tax cuts, local and state taxes for people of average income was about $800 a year. The average now is around 6 thousand a year per person.
One of the first thing states do is cut funding for college tuition, forcing colleges to hike tuition fees. This is the reason college tuition is so high. Before big Republican tax cuts in the 80’s, college tuition was very low. Millennials, ask yourselves- How many of us can’t even have a bank account now, thanks to lifelong student loan debt?
Another good example is water bills. Water bills used to be very low. But this also is among the first thing cities do when they get less funding due to less federal revenue, and therefore less state revenue. They hike water bills.
It has to be understood that federal revenue is distributed to the states and that state and local depend more on that than they do local and state taxes.
The GOP tax cuts are a massive fraud. They are a titanic transfer of more taxes and costs that average Americans, even upper-middle-income Americans, cannot afford to pay without greatly reducing their living standards. All so guys like Donald Trump and the Koch brothers can strut around like satraps.
Hillary Clinton was the only candidate that ran with a plan to protect average Americans if the market tanked from huge losses. She bothered to take the time about developing one because she realized that the market is a gamble.
If it should take a dive at a time when millions are having to retire, due to health and other issues, they get slammed. Social Security is guaranteed, but this already does not provide enough for most low and middle-income seniors, and the Republicans want to reduce benefits even more.
Republicans are also constantly trying to whack Medicaid. That program, along with Medicare, crucially supplements low-income seniors. This is not going to work. We are going to have a nation full of seniors in dire straits as soon as they can no longer work. Again- Millennials, this will be our parents and ourselves.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, far from being a victory, will be a very serious crisis for America in a decade or two. We will be fleeced little by little from a million different angles. We need to raise awareness of how this breaks down. Getting people to understand how bad they are going to be hurt before they feel it is an indispensable condition for #TheBlueWave.
We simply cannot keep giving top income tax cuts at the expense of low and middle income. The middle class is the backbone of society. If it breaks, we cannot stand up.

Our Last 100 Years? Climate Change and Partisan Denial.

Merry Christmas!
“In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!”

This tweet was Donald Trump’s reaction to the news that it’s going to be a cold New Year’s Day out East.

Climate refers to atmospheric action over a long period of time, while weather describes what’s to be happening in the near future. The climate can be thought of as the sum of long periods of weather. The climate is the forest; the weather is the trees.

The percentage of Americans unaware of this is dangerously high already and growing.

In 2016, Stephen Hawking made a dire prediction. In 1000 years or less, the human race would not survive. Epidemics, rogue AI, and various other factors would combine to make the planet unfit for human life.

Many of us, knowing the brilliance of Hawking’s mind, read those words and shivered. They were, after all, surrounded by the rest of the news.

But here we are at the end of 2017, and Hawking has come up with some new numbers!

Thanks to modern-day health care, 100 years is nearly a lifetime, but in May, Hawking proposed that this is how long humans have left on Earth.

Where’d the other 900 go? In a word? Trump. You read the tweet.

In July, Hawking told the BBC that humanity is at a “tipping point”. If we don’t desist from the course we’ve been on, global warming will become so bad that Earth will “become like Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius, and raining sulfuric acid.”

But a week of cold temperatures was enough for our president to call for more global warming.

Nor was this said in jest. Trump used the frigid East Coast weather as an opportunity to boast of what a good decision he’d made, in withdrawing from the Paris Accord earlier this year.

Hawking predicted that humanity’s natural greed would impede us from being able to properly address this problem.

According to Hawking, Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of this deal might turn out to be the final step towards the drastic climate problems scientists have been warning us about.

Trump’s history of climate change denial highlights a number of problems our society is currently solving.

A presidential administration hostile to climate science is a disaster. It is certain to deepen the already endemic scepticism on the topic existant in American political life.

Scientific reality has not escaped the distorting influence of political polarization in the United States.

Scepticism of man-made climate change within the GOP has been a worsening problem over the course of the last decade.

Like it or not, fossil-fuel corporations relative to the government have a gigantic power and influence over the conduct of the rest of us because they’re the ones who own so much of the information we see. They pay a lot of money to keep this issue frozen in political polarity.

As for Trump himself, his record of making stupid remarks about climate change goes back years. In 2015, he tweeted out something nearly identical to the nonsense he spit out today. As soon as he selected Scott Pruitt to run his Environmental Protection Agency, we could already guess at the rest.

Not long before taking office, Pruitt co-wrote an article claiming that scientists “disagree about the degree and extent of global warming and its connection to the actions of mankind.”

Trump’s choice to run the Energy Department, former Texas Governor Rick Perry, claimed “the science is not settled” on climate change.

His pick to lead the Interior Department, Republican Representative Ryan Zinke of Montana, said that global warming is “not proven science.”

Most Americans know that climate change is real. According to a poll done by Yale, six out of ten Americans consider themselves worried about it.

However, this is where we encounter the crux of the problem; in fact, of all problems dealing with why change in America comes so hard and slow. We are not getting our information from the same sources anymore.

Conservative media and political mouthpieces such as the Koch– funded Tea Party have created a toxic environment for healthy discourse. It’s important to remember that there is no such thing as an “alt-fact”. There’s only errors, blunders, and lies.

If they can succeed in helping people to forget this, they can blur the lines of truthful news and spread cynicism like a plague. What better way to turn a good country into a lousy mess?

Back to our subject, the same Yale poll, Climate Change in the American Mind, finds that although people are indeed legitimately concerned about global warming, if you include a partisan watchword in the question, people start answering through a different frame.

They give the answer that matches their political affiliation, even if they may harbour doubts about it.

For instance, on the question of whether scientists near-unanimously agree that human industrial activity is causing global warming, there is vast partisan disagreement.

Lest there be any doubt on this issue, they do; nearly every study finds unanimity on this issue among scientists.

But only 13 percent of Republicans are aware that is the case, as compared to 55 percent of Democrats.

Climate science scepticism within the GOP has intensified greatly since 2016. Trump’s administration has made every effort to combat anti-global warming efforts as an expensive waste of time.

His withdrawal from the Paris Accord has now increased the odds of a species-ending disaster to the point where Stephen Hawking, for one, has lost all hope.

Trump has made a habit of airing his climate scepticism on Twitter. He has snidely tweeted on the topic of “climate change” or “global warming” more than 100 times since 2011. But it’s more alarming now by far. He’s the President these days.

Some people are bound to follow him, no matter how hard we fight against normalizing his administration. It’s that same recalcitrant third of our populace who says they’d support Trump over Jesus.

There’s been something in the air these last few years. Instinctively, everyone seems to know that the species is at a crossroads and coming closer and closer to being forced down one path or the other.

We have all made decisions we regret; we have all burned bridges before. There is no walking backwards in time. We learn from these things, we move forward, and we try to help others learn from our mistakes. But when speaking of a geological extinction event, one has to realize there won’t be any more moving forward.

Add your voice to ours, with measured conviction, and help to save the world. Donald Trump’s moronic attempts at levity notwithstanding, it really is that serious. Somehow, we have got to find a way to spread the word. Or the days of saying things like Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays are going to be coming to an end, real soon.

Why Climate Change Matters

The GOP’s Middle Income Tax Increase.

Trump Robs The Middle Class

The new tax bill that the House of Representatives passed Thursday can be safely described as unpleasant.

Tax plans are confusing. They tend to be full of numbers and technical jargon. They give the gift of throbbing temples to most of us. But one thing, at least, is easy to grasp. It’s going to hurt the middle class terribly. This plan is legislative savagery at its worst.

As American citizens, we have a duty to stand up and oppose this criminal concept with all the force we can muster. If we do not, the same GOP Congress that attempted to repeal the Affordable Care Act in favor of total nonsense is all but certain to approve it. This new scheme is pitiless even for Trump. Its implications are brutal. It was hard to believe the budget plan the Senate just signed off on could be approved of by any human being with a heart.

Trump’s tax plan is much like his other policies. Ill-conceived, worse planned, and terrible for very nearly everyone. The CBO report speaks for itself. It’s really more of a tax plot.

The Trumps will save more than $1 billion overall under the GOP tax proposal with most of that amount coming from a repeal of the estate tax, according to an analysis NBC News commissioned of Trump’s one known 2005 tax return and his estimated net worth

As expected, the plan would help the wealthy at the direct expense of the middle class. It will actively hurt the poor. It is also known that foreign oligarch investors, including many from Russia, will be the beneficiaries.

The tax break improves for each income level, meaning that the people who need the most help get the least of it. The top 1 percent would get an 8.5 percent break.

Many Americans will indeed receive a tiny, immediate tax cut, but in the long term they will end up paying significantly higher numbers overall. Better than a third of American taxpayers are living on levels of income that fall below their standard deduction and personal exemptions. According to New York University law professor Lily Batchelder, that group will derive no benefit whatsoever.

This favoritism to the wealthy will increase both their holdings and the nation’s debt tremendously. The richest Americans are the biggest source of tax revenues. Trump has no answers as to where we might find a suitable substitute for them.

The plan will do great damage to parents of school-age children.  The head of household filing status will be eliminated. They will lose the personal exemption middle-class families used to receive for each child. That means almost 10 million parents will see their taxes increase.

The Republican Senate passed a budget bill on Thursday that would cut federal funding by $5 trillion over the next decade. The people to suffer the most from these cuts would be senior citizens, the poor and the disabled. By the time it’s all been said and done, the only ones who won’t be suffering are Donald Trump and his hideous cronies. Good thing the religious right’s got indulgences for sale.
A 10 year proposal that would gut Medicare to the tune of $473 billion in cuts is on the table. That would devastate the finances of more than 55 million Americans.
One might expect such a large tax cut to produce a large surplus in the federal reserve, but such an expectation would meet with disappointment. The Tax Policy Center said that the Framework of Trump’s 2016 plan will actually increase the national debt by $7 trillion over the next 10 years.

A large debt increase of this type tends to stunt economic growth in the long run. When a country’s debt-to-GDP-ratio is more than 100 percent, investors get concerned. They demand higher yields on the nation’s debt,  increasing interest rates. Those higher rates slow growth. It’s the old question of risk vs. reward.

Trump’s plan will also reduce the U.S. gross domestic product after 2024. The interest payments on the debt will end up consuming a large portion of the federal budget.

That money will be unavailable for the public use. It will not be there for the building of infrastructure or other job-creation uses. It will also not be there in case of an emergency, like the California wildfires or Hurricane Harvey.

The administration’s plan is relying on archaic and outmoded ideas of supply-side economics. Under the guidance of this principle, large-scale tax cuts are granted to big corporations. In an ideal world, these corporations would wisely invest this added capital into projects that create more jobs.

In the real world, however, the one in which Millennial Democrats is slogging through this article, this never worked out as it was supposed to. During Ronald Reagan’s administration, underperformance in this area led to the crisis we know as inflation. This was held up and exemplified, and given the name of Reaganomics. And that was still at a time when the highest tax rate was 70 percent.

These days tax rates are half what they were in the 1980’s. The results of pursuing a trickle-down economic strategy now would be far worse.

That is why those of us with sense enough to stand against these cuts must speak out. Loudly, and now. If not, then Medicare, Medicaid and other safety net programs will be gutted and burned. All so that the GOP can pay out a tax cut to the ones who need it least.
“This nasty and backwards budget green lights cuts to Medicare and Medicaid in order to give a tax break to big corporations and the wealthiest Americans. It shifts the burden from the wealthy and puts it squarely on the back of the middle class, and blows a hole in the deficit to boot,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“I think it will go down in history as one of the worst budgets Congress has ever passed.

Koch Industries has been working toward getting a bill like this past Congress for forty years.  The Senate has stamped their will with a seal of approval, bypassing Democratic votes and therefore bypassing democracy. “America First” is taking on a whole new twist.

#WeWillEmbraceYou- Our Answer to Far-Left Hatred.

The cause of leftist unity suffered a disappointment on Tuesday, when Senator Bernard Sanders(I-VT)  announced that contrary to earlier statements, he will not be running as a Democrat in future elections.

In November 2015, Sanders made a point of making clear that in fact he would run as a Democrat in future elections, after the subject came up during an interview.

“In future elections, potential future elections, will you also run as a Democrat?” the reporter asked Sanders as he campaigned in New Hampshire.

“Yes,” Sanders replied.

It seemed to make sense at the time. Bernie has had an on-again, off-again relationship with the DNC for decades. But he does vote with us more often than not. The DNC has hoped that he would join us for many years.

Bernie Sanders was elected to the House of Representatives in 1990. He was not long in establishing the contrary M.O. that so alienated allies and colleagues, during his first year in Congress and all the ones that followed. The first indicators of what we were in for were not to be long in coming.

Sanders introduced the “Health Care as a Right for All” bill on March 4, 1993, in the middle of Clinton’s push for health care reform, because after painstaking research she decided that his single-payer option was not feasible. It was an unfortunate diversion, at a time when we needed total focus. This plan of Bernie’s has failed many times.

As a result, when the Clinton administration-backed Health Security Act, was introduced in the House on Nov. 20, 1993, it had 103 cosponsors. Sanders was not among them. At a time when every vote was needed, he abstained for all-or nothing reasons. And so, America was to need nearly another quarter of a century to start filling this basic human need of the people.

In 2016, it was more of the same. We held out a hand to Bernie Sanders and his followers time and again, only to be rebuffed. It was tiring and it was frustrating. 1 in 10 Sanders voters ended up voting for Trump anyway. It was hard to resent the time we’d wasted trying to convince people who did not want to be convinced. This is the truth.  Rebuilding trust has to start with an acceptance of truth.

The anger and despair caused by the 2016 election opened a door. The smear job on Hillary Clinton represented a quarter- century’s work and God only knows how many millions of dollars on the part of the GOP. They had long ago ensured there was no end of mud to sling. And trusty Wikileaks was always around to make sure there was no shortage of new ammunition, straight from the Russians like Kalashnikov rifles.

The last month of the Democratic primary was a very horrible time filled with chaos and division. That acrimony caused a schism in the Democratic Party that ended up not being fixable. It cost us the election.

That schism has been terribly visible over the last few days, when many Bernie supporters regarded an invitation to Bernie to join the Democratic Party as an attempt to force him out of the Democratic Party. It is not clear how to correct these sorts of misconceptions.

This rabidity and overzealousness on the part of a dangerously high percentage of far-left supporters of Bernie Sanders made for an extremely nasty cocktail of filth for Putin and the Russians to fling about on social media, amplifying their messages through a mixture of robot armies and highly targeted advertising. The campaign was more successful than even the Russians expected. It directly paved the way for Trump’s “Crooked Hillary” attacks.

Since then, the gap between the Democratic Party and the rogue Sanders element has widened continuously. The 2017 Democratic National Committee chairmanship election between Labor Secretary Tom Perez and Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota was the first contested DNC chair election since 1985. It gave us a solid look at the discord brewing in the party.

The Unity tour that Bernie and the DNC undertook together was a disaster as well. Many Sanders supporters even went so far as to boo and curse our party chairman, Tom Perez, while on the tour. One reporter asked at the time, if Bernie considered himself a Democrat.

“No”, said Bernie.

And as recently as this month, Bernie caused nationwide outrage by accepting an invitation to speak at the 2017 Inaugural Women’s Convention. We did not ask for much, to remedy the situation, only that he publicly state that he’ll endorse in the future only those candidates with an ironclad respect for the reproductive rights of women.

Sadly, rather than fully embrace this long-hallowed progressive moral, Bernie chose to decline the invitation.

The pattern is clear, and it is widening all the time. The natural response on the part of most Democrats, who after all have been lied to for years by Senator Sanders, is outrage. This is only to be expected, but we have to keep in mind that more fighting will get us the opposite of what we all are after.

The author of this article struggles with this personally and is honest enough to admit it. Just the same, Millennial Democrats realizes the necessity of coming together. The only thing that matters, for as long as he’s in office, is getting rid of the maniac Donald Trump. We will therefore make a sincere attempt to put that behind us and offer a handshake. That is what the situation requires. That is what the lot of us owe our country.

The Sanders camp started a number of rather insolent and aggressive political organizations in the aftermath of the country’s heartbreak over the disastrous result of last year’s election. This is inexcusable, but also understandable. Everyone was really angry at the time, and pointing fingers is always easy. Everyone makes mistakes.

But even among these heavily radicalized organizations, there is one that stands out particularly for the sheer ugly brazenness of its slogan, a hashtag called #WeWillReplaceYou. This is another supposedly liberal or progressive group looking to take out sitting Democrats from Congress in 2018.

Instead of focusing their attention on the Republicans who are ravaging our federal government, they are instead choosing to pose a threat to elected Democrats.

This kind of idea goes beyond obnoxious. It’s actively dangerous. The last hope of the nation is that most people, on both sides of the fence, will somehow come to realize this. Acrimony on the left is exactly what Donald Trump and the Koch network are really after. We have got to perceive their strike, and pull back before it is too late.

While this squabbling goes on, the Republicans are halfway to passing the most brutally corrupt tax plan in American history. We have got to come together before it’s forever too late.

Both sides have now had ample chance to air grievances and get them out on the table. It is now time for us to move past it. Honesty is the only way to meaningful unity between the Sanders camp and real Democrats. We hear you out, you hear us out, and then we all shake hands and get back to work.

It is for that reason that we’ve decided to promote a counter-hashtag, #WeWillEmbraceYou. We don’t want to fight. One way or the other, this internecine war has got to end. It does nothing but rip us all up. The discord between our two camps still amounts to a quarrel between brothers.

So when they shriek at us, “We will replace you!”, we will respond calmly and say “Well, we will embrace you.” This is easy for us, because we are Democrats. The Democratic Party is strong. And the strong are always kind. It will come naturally to be magnanimous.

What it means to be a Democrat, is to be on the side of the people. All the people. Even the ones you don’t always agree with. In order to call yourself a progressive, you have got to show you can make progress. That takes cooperation and communication. All or nothing will not suffice.

At the end of the day, our message to our natural allies to the left of us is simply this- Even if you insist on wanting to be our enemies, we are still your friends.

We will not give up, on attempting to open dialogue with you. We will always be willing to work with you. Should you ever decide to return to the fold, you will hear no I-told-you-sos or recriminations. What you will find, is a dignified welcome, and a place on the bench. Please keep this in mind.
