As next year’s election season draws in ever closer and looms over Planet Earth like the Apocalypse, all the world is wondering what American voters will do next year. Will Donald Trump and his evil divisions and his foolhardy ways be thrown out on his ear, or will they be codified and set into stone in a new Dark Ages to take place until at least 2024? Only one thing is certain: 2020 will be the most critical election of our lifetimes, except for 2016.
After months of uncertainty, former vice-president Joe Biden decided to run. We soon endorsed Biden as the only sane choice, knowing in our hearts only that Trump must go and that a socialist must not replace him. Now everything depends on him. The blown gasket of Bernie Sanders gave second-place Elizabeth Warren a big boost and set the chessboard up for next year’s races. The game will be between the two of them. When it ends, and it comes time for Joe Biden to accept the nomination, it is our opinion that he should at least consider picking Warren as his running mate and making her the vice president.
The nature of politics requires shifting alliances at times, and it is in that context that I first began to think about the possible efficacy of running a Biden/Warren ticket. If executed correctly the play could end up repairing the gaplike rift that was torn in the Democratic Party by Bernie Sanders back in 2016. The long term health of the Party would be likely to improve, which is critical to America’s future.
In essence, it will depend on what Warren decides to do after she realizes that she is going to lose to Joe Biden beginning on Super Tuesday and heading into next summer. Will she link hands with Bernie as her chosen vice-president in a wrongheaded attempt to land herself in the Oval Office? Or will she do the right thing and throw her support behind Joe, the only one of us who has what it takes to beat Donald Trump, and offer to throw in as his chosen vice president?
It’s one of the biggest decisions a person could ever have to make, and we can’t say with any sort of certainty that Joe would even consider picking her. Many believe that he would not, but I’m not sure I agree. Joe Biden was the first person in politics Elizabeth Warren ever spoke to, as a friend of Dr. Phil’s, and his magnanimity in engaging her in a debate is how she became a recognized figure. If she has any decency at all, and I believe she does, she will harbor some gratitude towards him for creating her. For his part, Biden seems to like Warren and to have taken some interest in her career, and the race between the two of them has remained civil. I say it’s possible and more than possible. I say it’s a good idea. We should try putting it out there before she throws in with the other side irrevocably.
The fake leftist organization known as the Justice Democrats have been pushing Warren hard to formally align with Bern and make their two camps one, effectively dividing the Party forever and leaving us with a truly uphill struggle going into the general election against Trump, a man who is as vicious as a sewer rat and has a pack of them waiting behind.
They have dangled many a tasty bait before her eyes. But she still hasn’t fully bitten yet. She screwed up bad in Texas campaigning against Henry Cuellar for the socialist trying to primary that good Democrat out, but she does not have to cast her lot with them all the way. She is still in a good place for sucking it up and making Biden a good vice.
That is the only reason why it’s even worth it to write this article. We’re not saying it’s a sure thing, or even a likely thing, or any of that. We’re saying it’s possible, that it makes sense, and that it makes enough sense to be worth speculating on publicly. I would like to see it happen. But it absolutely has to be on the correct terms, the terms we’ve been talking about over here for three years now, the terms of America’s moderate core, and the core of the Democratic Party.
In next year’s general election, it’s all going to hinge on our ability to show the people that we are the sane and moderate ones. America desperately needs to return to normalcy after four years of living in the zoo, and we have to show the people that in the vacuum created by the Trump era we haven’t warped too much for that to be possible.
Above all, we have got to tell the people we are not for any sort of socialism. The Democratic Party’s entire future hinges on making sure we say that clearly enough. Trump’s entire reelection strategy revolves around pointing the finger at all the far-out things said and advocated for by the Squad‘s most famous and controversial member, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Having to defend her all the time really sucks, and she’s only a freshman Representative.
Warren’s plans are too close to socialism for us to get behind her entering into the White House- except, just maybe, as a vice.
The strategic requirements of the position are hard to measure in a dissolving political landscape like this one. The evaluation can only be unclear. Given that, we should preserve all our options as long as possible. Warren could still make a good vice, and it is my opinion therefore that, annoying as she is, as annoying as her Warren Weevils are, we do not attack in earnest just yet. She could still be of use.
Warren has never declared openly as our enemy, although campaigning with the “Democratic” Socialists and the Justice Democrats in Texas comes pretty close; to get rid of Trump, I would suffer it for the time being and support her as a vice-presidential candidate.
She has flirted with both sides but remained uncommitted; certainly this is the sign of a turncoat, but that’s just life sometimes. We need her to pacify and bring into the voting booths the radicals on our behalf, which is the reason we’re congratulating her cannibalizing of the Bern.
She’s the only one who could have done that.
Warren was the first choice of the fake left to hamstring Hillary Clinton back in 2016, not Bernie. The campaign was invented by a socialist and was called Run Warren Run, a reference to a scene in the movie Forrest Gump where a mentally retarded person is fleeing rock-chasing tormentors.
You don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Warren didn’t bite that time, either, and so six months to the day after they’d started, Run Warren Run shuttered its doors and Bernie Sanders became a manufactured folk hero, someone the right-wing could trust to take a dump in every Democratic lawn. Her instincts were decent enough back then to let her know she had no chance of winning.
In her heart, she must already know that is the case again.
Poll aggregators like this one from RealClearPolitics show out completely the false media narrative of Biden having a co-frontrunner. Biden is beating Warren like a flea-bitten animal in the overwhelming majority of polls, and any poll where more than just rich white college kids are asked for their opinion, and tying with her even there. On her own, in the driver’s seat, Warren’s case is hopeless.
But she could still do some good for us. Her judgment in the history books will depend on her being selfless and sensible enough to throw her lot behind us and Joe Biden.
In closing, if Warren can bring the radical leftists to the booths (at least, those that aren’t closeted right-wingers), and Trump can send the sane Republicans in there for us once and for all, Biden can bring the moderate core of America, the one that has held this country together during thick and thin, and the Democrats can retake the White House. Of course the whole concept may be about as substantial as a Beach Boys song, but even so.
Wouldn’t it be nice?
