The 2020 presidential election in America has taken on a titanic significance. To be frank, it truly verges on the apocalyptic. A second term with Donald Trump, one who has nothing to lose for the next four years will land us in a hole we may not escape from. We have got to get this right because if we don’t it’s going to finish us. All of us; the rain will fall on the just and the unjust alike.
We need each other now more than ever before and we all are fighting for the same cause. In this context, all these nominees are helping us to build enthusiasm add to our final pool of registered voters, all across America. We cannot spare or alienate a single one of them. Therefore, we want to be very clear about this. Millennial Democrats are not endorsing one candidate yet, for one simple reason.
We don’t care which one it is at the end. They’re all good. Just as long as it is not Trump or Bernie.
When you step back and look at it, we’ve got an embarrassing wealth of excellence in the form of our 2020 presidential candidates. Senator Kamala Harris would be great. Former Vice President Joe Biden would be great. Pete Buttigieg speaks seven languages. Beto O’Rourke is an expert hacker. Any of them would make for excellent presidents, other than Russian cutouts like Bern or Tulsi Gabbard.
There is no need for real Democrats to attack each other, and I sure hope we can all realize how bad the Bernie or Bust movement hurt us last time. These are all good people. All of them will do well at the job. Whoever has that nomination, in the end, can count on us doing everything we can for them. That is why it’s so important to us that we support all of them equally in the meantime.
It’s very important we lay that message down hard. Biden/Harris, Harris/Biden, who on Earth could think to squabble over it? NotBernOrTrump/NotBernOrTrump is all I’m seeing if there’s no HRC on the ticket.
Another thing it’s worth saying a few words about is the need to reject categorically any racist notions of any kind, a need that grows more strident with each passing day. It hardly should be necessary to have to bring this up among Democrats, who really are progressive and really have championed black causes throughout the years, but unfortunately, there is a strong current of anti-white male sentiment in the party today.
That has to stop absolutely.
I get that there is no small justification for these feelings. There is no doubt that white men have been on the top while others were not, and that they did a lot of truly awful things with their power during that time. I understand also that “white America” per se is a construct of oppression. Terrible as this undeniably is, however, it has to be clearly recognized that most whites in America have nothing to do with it. People like that idiot Richard Spencer just open their mouths and spout all kinds of crap, and say it’s on behalf of the white race. They do it all the time, and the rest of us have no way to stop them. Most of us are totally repulsed by white nationalism.
That’s not why we voted for them, and we stood behind every one of them. We voted for them because we needed them. We needed leaders, and they were who showed up. So we got behind them with everything we had, just as we would do for any Democrat. It was a pleasure. They are serious candidates with serious goals and plans, like Hillary Clinton.
